12221  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Hoaxtoshi aka Craig Wright busted - collection of quality research posts on: May 04, 2016, 08:05:01 AM
-snip-
Stop spamming the same post in every single thread related to CW.

You need to remember that Craig Wright has never claimed he is Satoshi Nakamoto.
He did claim this, and he even keeps insisting that he is Satoshi. Stop defending him.

This is the problem, because every bullshit creates a divide & conquer effect.
That's what the idea behind it is; I don't think it is a coincidence that this happens at the time of Consensus 2016 and the CME group - related news about Bitcoin (which was basically, completely, suppressed).
12222  Other / Meta / Re: Forum ranks/positions/badges (What do those shiny coins under my name mean?) on: May 04, 2016, 07:05:30 AM
@Lauda I know it is my duty and I did search for the rules, but this forum's search engine is so bad that it doesn't comes up with the proper results and also it keeps the newbies wait for few more minutes before searching again. But what is the purpose of wait time to searching again when can't find something with the previous tags?  Huh
You don't have to search for the rules; this is why they are 'stickied' within the forum-related section (Meta). We are aware that the search feature does not tend to work as it should; it should be better on the new forum. For searches, you can always use something in the line of Google and you should find an adequate amount of information (e.g.):

While it might not deliver optimal results, it will definitely help you.
12223  Other / Meta / Re: Some folks say the forum sucks on: May 04, 2016, 06:15:05 AM
There seem to be a lot of members who see Bitcoin as a method of adding a bit of cash to their income, and signature spamming is one way to achieve this. This leads to a lot of repetitive posts, and a lot of posting of received opinions without any understanding, and sometimes without even reading the posts in a thread. Once you learn to ignore these, then there is a lot of valuable information here, and some very knowledgeable and helpful members. One of my guidelines is to ignore any thread with more than about 50 replies, unless it has some technical merit of course.
What's troubling is that nothing is being done (or has been done). Basically, suggestions are rejected because a 'perfect solution' is required (which obviously does not exist). It becomes quite difficult and annoying as the spam tends to increase drastically during certain events (e.g. this one with CW). It comes down to what the administration thinks of the problem though. Signature spam has become worse over time; I would always pick quality over quantity.

It's like listening to AM radio whilst driving through Harlem at night.
The radio does not rephrase the same sentences, does it?

I have to ask this again: How many more threads are you people going to open? You are basically giving him the attention that he "does not want".  Roll Eyes There are plenty of places where one can discuss this.

They seem to look quite amazing. No wonder that a lot of people are interested in them (including myself). I would also like to know:

Does it feel weighty or light to hold?
12229  Other / Meta / Re: Donations? on: May 03, 2016, 05:40:15 PM
Should I remind you that the USD value is irrelevant and that: 1 BTC will always be equal to 1 BTC?

but the admin could give an address for those who could donate the amount that could
You can donate any (small) amount that you want, but don't expect to receive 'something in return'.
12230  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: BREAKING NEWS: SATOSHI FINALLY REVEALED! on: May 03, 2016, 03:52:36 PM
they issue here is: Gavin Andresen's creditability is gone completely forever!
That's not the issue, that's the benefit of this. It is time for GA to depart.

But the Genesis block signing would still be key.
I do agree, it is 'almost impossible' to determine who mined the following blocks. It could be anybody.

But I`m afraid that this will affect on people that doesn't know nothing about bitcoin.
It always has an effect on sheep.

I am talking about block 0, the genesis block, last I checked there were 50 coins in it and they went to this address. 1A1zP1eP5QGefi2DMPTfTL5SLmv7DivfNa
The 'genesis block' can't change hands as you've mentioned, therefore your analogy does not make sense (ergo, wrong). Those coins can not be spent.
12231  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: BREAKING NEWS: SATOSHI FINALLY REVEALED! on: May 03, 2016, 03:28:46 PM
Well if the Dollar was a cryptocurrency where it was very well known that the first dollar made was made by the inventor and hasn't moved hands as seen on a public ledger, then yes. It does.
Wrong. Any block, after block 0, could have been mined by anyone. We don't know whether Satoshi mined it, Craig mined it, my cat mined it. It is even quite possible that Craig somehow attained access to one of Satoshi's private keys.

Does it proof that im the inventor of the dollar if i got the first dollar note?
It does not.

Moving some bitcoins should proof something , no ?
Not necessarily, but definitely better than what we've had so far.
12232  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Hoaxtoshi aka Craig Wright busted on: May 03, 2016, 01:41:34 PM
this is the mother of all threads  Tongue
Then it should be constantly edited and updated, rather than opening another thread (which would become the 'new' "mother of all threads").

Busted my ass, there are still 20-30% of this forum that believe his hoax.
While the exact numbers are unknown, it is true that there's a certain amount of people that either believe this nonsense and/or don't know why it is false.

Just go to /bitcoin reddit and you will see what i`m talking about
On r/btc you will find out that this was all planned by Blockstream to get rid of Gavin. Roll Eyes
12233  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Hoaxtoshi aka Craig Wright busted on: May 03, 2016, 12:38:53 PM
How many more threads are people going to open on this subject?

I wonder if Gavin's commit access will be permanently revoked? Do people honestly believe he wasn't in cahoots with Wright?
It should be. This is one strike too many; it is time to say farewell to GA.
12234  Economy / Economics / Re: If Bitcoin had a stable price, would it still be as popular? on: May 03, 2016, 11:58:43 AM
If bitcoin has a stable price around 1000$ it will become more popular but if the price has fall down to less than 1 $ i think everybody will try to look for another coin to replace bitcoin
This is what is very wrong with these people. If you are here because of greed (i.e. wanting to profit), then you're most definitely here for the wrong reasons. 1 BTC will always be equal to 1 BTC.

It would be used more as a real payment method than it is now.
I concur.

Because many people dont know what is bitcoin. Many people dont need to use it. Many people dont have care about bitcoin.
To elaborate: We are talking about people that are considered 'sheep' (both ignorant and stupid). They don't even know where their precious fiat comes from nor how it all works, yet they keep using it.
12235  Other / New forum software / Re: Country flag next to local boards on: May 03, 2016, 11:34:27 AM
As a counterargument, India is a country, not a language. There are diverse languages spoken there.
You make a valid point there, however since it is obvious that this does not make sense for some languages (as the section is not country specific, rather language-specific) it would be best not to 'implement' this in the first place.
12236  Economy / Collectibles / Re: PAPERBACK - Encyclopedia of Physical Bitcoins and Crypto-Currencies on: May 03, 2016, 09:54:31 AM
As previously stated, the Signature Edition books will take longer. This is because they are not shipped by myself, but go through several people (Myself > Mike Caldwell > Howard Kesselman > Buyer). Instead of shipping the books to the UK for signing by Matthew Rippon (an extra month at minimum), high quality acid-free foil labels have been signed by Matthew which will be affixed onto the signature page.

Right now, they are in Mr. Caldwell (Casascius') possession, and he will forward them to Howard as soon as he has signed them.
Ah, so that is what's going on; it was the unclear part (at least to me, as I don't check the thread often). So, I'll assume that it is going to take quite some time until they are shipped out to the Buyer. I'm ready for Q3 2016, I guess. Could you send me a PDF version as well? I would appreciate it.
12237  Other / Meta / Re: Some folks say the forum sucks on: May 03, 2016, 09:49:20 AM
It seems like has has overreacted a bit, but I understand where he's coming from. Do these people not realize how annoying their spam is? There have been dozens of threads (i.e. all are duplicates) on the subject and hundreds of really useless replies. I've posted in some of those thread (usually with evidence that disproves some claims) and reported a few of those as well. It is quite annoying as to what it has come down to:

What a bunch of gullible, opinionated, nonsense spreading, emotional, whiners most of you are.
Fixed.
12238  Economy / Collectibles / Re: PAPERBACK - Encyclopedia of Physical Bitcoins and Crypto-Currencies on: May 03, 2016, 09:46:03 AM
Just so everyone is clear:
The Collector's Signature Edition books have NOT shipped yet. They are currently with Mr. Caldwell for signing.
The international shipping time (as specified) is absurdly long, and now there's another delay? How long do we have to keep waiting for them (any ETA)?
12239  Economy / Economics / Re: If Bitcoin had a stable price, would it still be as popular? on: May 03, 2016, 09:41:21 AM
This thread was created in the wrong section. This should be in the Economics sections. Anyhow, to answer you question: A stable price would most likely end up attracting even more people to Bitcoin. One of the major 'cons' that it currently has (for people who consider joining) is that it is very volatile and that you might end up having much less money (e.g. in USD) the day after you've bought some Bitcoin.
