12261  Economy / Economics / Re: Why we must study Economics at University? on: June 14, 2018, 02:36:21 AM
Most probably in this section are users that are interested mostly in Economics, so I want to know why Economics attracts you?

To have better understanding about cryptocurrencies you should study economics. Even to understand the news and politics.
I am not an economist, but I have studied a bit. Especially personal finances which is very useful for anyone who works and earn some money
12262  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Place to find Resume examples for Crypto jobs on: June 14, 2018, 02:32:43 AM
Most users of this forum are anonymous, so you won't find resumes here.

You can find some job offers in the  service board
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=52.0

Some people there are offering jobs for developers, writers, campaign Managers, etcetera
12263  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Wrong questions on: June 13, 2018, 11:49:24 PM
Bitcoin is a long term investment. If you are worried about the price, you are overinvested and you will make bad decisions.

Early adopters who made lots of money were those who bought and didn't expect short term gains.

Bitcoin fundamentals are the same now as they were when Bitcoin was 3k, 20k and now. Hodl and wait a few years
12264  Economy / Speculation / Re: HODLers or Tether - who do we blame? on: June 13, 2018, 07:21:42 PM
These are normal things, part of the normal market cycles, so you should blame no one. That being said, no doubt there are big players on the market affecting some of these price changes of Bitcoin. As for Theter, I'm also not surprised. The researchers from the first linked article managed to find correlation between Tether issuance and the upward movement of bitcoin price. So this suggests that USDT was being used to buy cheap BTC and thereby pump the price of BTC as a result of their actions. I doubt that the real HODLers are in the decline though.

No regulation has its disadvantages, such as this Tether and Bitfinex price manipulations.
THe market still needs to mature a lot. Cryptocurrencies are a long term investment.

We still need some regulation, better and safer wallets for newbies, better exchanges. Also the technology itself still has a lot to develop.

It´s hard but I am trying not to look to much at the prices.

12266  Local / Português (Portuguese) / Re: Dois anos desde a minha primeira transação! on: June 13, 2018, 12:00:26 AM

Dai eu me desesperava e pensava "vai cair, nao é possivel". E so subia subia subia... comprei a todos os precos.

Coragem. É sempre dificil comprar btc. Subindo ou descendo.
12267  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: Is Windows Defender enough to be secure? on: June 12, 2018, 08:43:32 PM
Windows Defender alone is not enough.

You need to use Windows Defender (antivirus) and Malware Bytes (anti malware/spyware) at least. They are a simple combo which will deal with most threats.

However, you need to be careful with your habits online. Avoid downloading piracy products from shady websites. Avoid these adult videos websites which are full of virus. Avoid to download cracks for software.

If you download something suspicious, sent it to https://www.virustotal.com, which will scan your file, before opening.

Also, get a hardware wallet if you store coins in your daily computer.
12268  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Can someone suggest me a accurate cryptocurrency market prediction source? on: June 12, 2018, 04:19:51 PM
Guys,

Does anyone here know of any individual/telegram group or whatsapp group etc that gives accurate predictions on cryptocurrencies based on TA and other news factors?

For example someone predicting a market downturn as a result of the recent cryptocurrency exchange hack?

Wait, let me see if I get this.

You want someone to give you accurate price predictions about the future price in short term of the higher speculative, volatile, crazy and newer market in the world? In a telegram or whatsapp group? All this for free?

Let's suppose a time traveler from the future creates a telegram group and invites you, so you can make billions (for free, of course). And he must give "accurate predictions".

Be careful, you will only get scammed searching for this.

12269  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Blockchain and ICO Education for Merit on: June 12, 2018, 11:59:35 AM
If you wrote this book , or read it, and if the content is good, why are you buying merits?

Can't you share what you learned there and get your merits on a legit way?

Of you build a good reputation here, as a knowledge person, many people could buy your book.

But you are acting like some scammer, buying merits to rank up, which is immoral and against rules. How do you expect someone to buy your book ?

Sim, suporta tudo menos ripple.

12272  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: New Ledger native desktop app to be released on July 9th, 2018 on: June 12, 2018, 12:48:18 AM
Google knows that you searched for and installed the ledger chrome app.
This is the problem we are talking about. This is a privacy risk. Not only a risk, this is a privacy issue.

But they're not stealing your xpub from the app, nothing like that.

That´s not even possible, as this data never leaves your ledger nano. And google would never do that.

What they do is what they say in their privacy police, which is something like "everything you do here we will sell to third party"
12273  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: New Ledger native desktop app to be released on July 9th, 2018 on: June 11, 2018, 11:50:08 PM
I found it a bit boring to have to go through Chrome and install/use an application..

Thats the same thing which makes me feel quite uncomfortable when accessing my nano s.
It just doesn't feel right to install google chrome and use a chrome application to access your cryptos, especially on linux  Roll Eyes

I am definitely looking forward to use ther native application. For BTC we can use electrum to bypass the usage of chrome.
But there aren't proper wallets available for other coins (e.g. ETH). And im not a big fan of MEW :7

Lets see how long it takes until the application is released and how long the 'future releases' with additional features will take.

The thing is, because of the security model of the ledger devices, you don't have to worry about the platform you use it on, as long as you actually use the device to verify everything.

Chrome app disadvantage  is not about security, but privacy.
Google chrome is stealing your personal data and selling to companies. If you use ledger nano app on crhome, you are probably going to see ads related to crypto.

It´s may even be considered a security risk, as now someone else knows you own crypto...

12277  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: bitcoin pollution... on: June 11, 2018, 05:44:19 PM
You are wrong because most of mining operations take place in China, near hydroelectric dams. So mining does not produce all that CO2, because this is a somehow " clean " energy source.

Also, you can think of Bitcoin energy consumption in a different way

I believe that Bitcoin can hasten the adoption of renewable energy sources.

Bitcoin can become a sponsor of solar energy. As cryptomining is profitable, people could buy solar panels and use the excess energy produced to mining operations, as they require a high amount of electricity and solar panels produce more energy than a single house consumes.

Bitcoin mining can be an environmental subsidy to alternative energy all around the world because it's causing these projects to be amortized over a year instead of five.

It's very easy to criticize bitcoin mining because it's too obvious. More obvious than the energy consumption of Visa, for example, which not everyone is aware of how much energy they consume.

More information about here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2T0OUIW89II (Andreas Antonopoulos.)

That are claims that Christmas lights consumes as much energy as bitcoin mining.

- The Second, merit: Many members do not understand how to achieving merits. It is important to establish a merit scoring system because it is quite complex and difficult to understand at the moment.
I hope the forum administrators supporting and consider my behalf.the newbie and many other members sent to the board!thank you

how do you have more than 400 posts and do you still say many users do not understand merits?

We have more than 30 new  topics daily crying about merits in the meta session (including this new one you just made).

Every topic has at least one good answer explaining it, like the one above my comment.
12279  Other / Meta / Re: Signatures & forum ads on: June 11, 2018, 03:57:46 AM
I think forum's ads are not invasive and they have a very clean visual.

Hiding signatures I don't think is an interesting idea also.

The signature may tell a lot about the poster who is wearing it.
Also, I like to see what good posters are wearing. Personally, I always check the projects of good campaigns and good campaign managers.

I like to keep my eyes open for opportunities.

For example, I saw that a lot of good knowledge people were wearing IOS signature. I didn't knew about this project. I read briefly and put it on my radar. If these people are investing their signatures in it (which costs money), probably this is a project that is worth checking it out.

Campaigns which pays a lot of money like Chipmixer, or Fortune Jack, I think these projects could be interesting also. If i am going to use for a service like this, I would probably check these companies. If they are paying so much money in advertising here, the project is doing well and probably they are doing a good service.
12280  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: BitCrack - A tool for brute-forcing private keys on: June 11, 2018, 03:43:01 AM
Hi all,

I've been working on a tool for brute-forcing Bitcoin private keys.

.....

The performance is good, but can likely be improved. On my hardware (GeForce GT 640) it gets 9.4 million keys per second compressed, 7.3 million uncompressed.

....

Thoughts?

Thanks!

what I am going to say is purely theoretical, as I have never tried to brute force private keys.

I don´t think you will have any success doing this.
If you have enough hash power, you would probably make more money working as an honest node, mining.

Bitcoin protocol is secure enough. If it were brute force-able, bitcoin wouldn't be worth anything.

What i think you could do is to find a collision. If someone made an insecure private key, by just hashing some passphrase... maybe you could have some luck. I tried to do this once, but never found anything. I tried those terms like "wallet" "bitcoin". I found some addresses which used to have balances, but not anymore. But I was doing manually, like 1 address/3 minutes lol

If you could somehow at the same time check if any of those 9.4 million keys/sec have any balance in btc/bch/btg etc...

But I don't think any of that will work, and will be a waste of time and resources.
