I didn't follow altcoins for a while but wow! UNO is taking off, glad I kept my +1000UNO  Grin

Haven't sold anything yet, and certainly won't. I like to see where it goes.

Great community here, 100x better than all other crapcoins that only last a few months.
12262  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Why is the price so different on various bitcoin exchanges? on: October 07, 2014, 09:12:10 AM
in different EXCHANGES are different traders who set the price

Indeed.

And to say, I find BTC-E overal a better exchange as in price indication.

It's most of time time around $10 lower than Bitstamp in price which is used as source by many sites and people.

That's the beauty of Bitcoin, no one knows the exact price, it's what people want to pay for it.

I remember MtGox that had $100 higher price than all other exchanges  Cheesy That was just insane!

12267  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: I was just scammed on: October 06, 2014, 08:44:53 PM
Hey Everyone!

I have sad news. I was scammed. And being naive and not knowing enough played a role at this. Also greed was in this.
There is a user named BobbyL and he also goes by Michail1. He was looking to buy a large quantity of XC. We talked and he agreed to buy everything I had because he was offering me 3.5BTC for 1500 XC. 1500XC was my total amount I had been saving since June. I've been buying a few here and there every week.

He setup a wallet on blockchain.info with a username and password with 3.5 BTC in it. When I logged into the wallet to check, I saw the BTC. I didn't get the private key to transfer funds out. He told me to send him the XC and I will get the private key. Well, I sent the XC, but he never sent anything and changed the password very quickly. This person wont return my emails. His email is passat.ltc@gmail.com - He goes by Michail Hoffman.

I lost my life savings. 4 months of saving XC and it's all gone due to greed for some quick turn around cash. I feel bad. If anyone knows how to get my XC back, please help.

Sorry to hear.

But as you state that you lost your life savings........ It makes me think why on earth did you buy in with all that money??

Never invest more than you can afford to lose, this is a very expensive lesson for you.

Never trust people online that want something from you, don't let this happen again.

What is the best platform for bit coin trading? I am willing to start with 5-10 BTC.

I am thinking about Kraken or Bitstamp, what do you guys prefer? Which have less fees? Was thinking about cex.io as well.

Is there any bots available for those platforms?

Let me know.

One word: Bitfinex. It's not just lowest trading fees, it's a ton of options you will not use right from the start, like margin trading, but you may like very much later. If you find Bitfinex too complicated use BTC-E, it has decent fees and simple but useful user interface. Avoid Bitstamp if you can, fees are outrageous.

Thee fees on stamp are high but the more volume you generate the lower the fees will get. It's more a whale garden nowadays.

I would suggest BTC-E as they don't require any verification, they won't ask for anything if you try to withdraw BTC, etc.

He said he will start with 5-10 BTC, and the fees get to the level of other exchanges if you make monthly USD volume > $150,000. For beginners fees are 2.5x - 5x bigger than the competition. Stay away from Bitstamp, people use it not for everyday trading but to take 1-time large amounts of money to/from bitcoin ecosystem.

As you can see I suggested BTC-E which is perfectly fine for beginners, and also very trustworthy.

But there are other exchanges with lower fees, Bitfinex is also a good one.

12271  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin crashes below $300 due to monetary penalties implemented by the Russian on: October 06, 2014, 05:52:54 PM
I managed to grab some Bitcoins below $300 yesterday, so I'm fine.

Will hold it, there's no need to sell for such low price.

I don't think they will recover from this as in getting back old customers.

I have never seen a site, service or shop being not available this long when doing migration.

12280  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Manipulation by unregulated exchanges to generate fees on: October 05, 2014, 01:50:32 PM
Volume has been very low for a long time. This must have affected the revenue of the exchanges, especially after the runup last November. With low volume is less people paying trading fees. Since there was already a trending decline, it was probably seen as an opportunistic time to do the reverse. This time causing an unexpected panic would increase the volume. They are probably using bots and buying up cheap bitcoins to boot. I have no idea if this is a reasonable hypothesis, but it does provide symmetry.

After all, it's a business.

I'm not 100% sure they do this, but I would do so for sure to generate extra income.

Smart traders know when to buy and sell, these heavy swings are much welcome for me as I benefit from it and others as well.

Market manipulation is no big deal for me.
