Great forum, you get a lot freedom here, and yes, scammers will use this freedom in their benefit.

Great as well that you can earn BTC with sig campaigns, but that results in mega spammers to bump up their rank and eventually sell their accounts.

12328  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: pump and dump or? on: September 27, 2014, 11:11:21 AM
Many people here don't seem to know what the term "pump-and-dump" means. It doesn't mean buying and selling. It doesn't mean buying a lot and then selling a lot. Whales don't pump and dump.

Basically in a pump-and-dump scheme, a person will buy shares of an asset and then promote the asset (the "pump"), generally by spreading false and misleading information in order to build up interest. Then when the price has risen, the person will sell off her shares for a profit (the "dump"). Later, the price drops back to normal when the lies are uncovered, and then people lose money.

This page from the SEC goes into detail: "Pump-and-Dumps" and Market Manipulations

Here are some typical examples of pump-and-dumps:

A person buys shares of some obscure mineral or oil prospecting company. Then they post information on every investing site in the world about how the company has massive potential or has great results from test bores. When people take notice and buy up the shares, the operator sells her stake at a huge profit and just walks away.

Fontas (a well-known user on BTC-e) frequently announced that he was going to start a "pump" of some alt coin at a certain time. The idea was for everyone to get in on the "pump" at the beginning and then sell out at the top. The truth is that Fontas actually bought coins before making his announcement, and then watched all the fools buy up the coins at the announced time (or earlier) and sold his coins for a profit to the people getting in "early".

The good old Fontas times, made some good money with his announcements on BTC-E

Regarding "pumping" Bitcoin : That's a lot harder to do, there is always some one with a lot BTC waiting to dump on the slightest price increase.

In less than two hours from now Liverpool - Everton!

Amazing clash, as always a lot emotion, fouls, and yellow cards  Grin
12331  Economy / Auctions / Re: domain dropping on: September 27, 2014, 10:09:05 AM
Please list your domains here in this thread instead of forcing people to click on unknown links from a newbie.

Will raise your chances of selling as well...
12332  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: BTC.com --October? on: September 26, 2014, 11:38:54 AM
Perhaps a CEX.IO competitor but with more traiding pairs and totally different style?

12333  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Are Bitcoin exchanges safe after ShellShock ? on: September 26, 2014, 11:35:10 AM
Any service involved with Bitcoin will never be safe.

The only thing they can do is keep the security spot on, and detect any security holes before hackers do.

12334  Economy / Digital goods / Re: VVBV - [4Letter .com domain fo sale] on: September 25, 2014, 10:03:59 PM
What is your target price? I might be interested if price is fair.
12335  Economy / Auctions / Re: domain auction - btcloan bundle on: September 25, 2014, 10:02:15 PM
4btc is waaaaay too high, you should price the domains fairly, and not scare off people.

From the six domains you list btcloan.org is the best domain, and has the most value.

Also, expiry dates are nearly due...
12336  Other / Off-topic / Re: Oh, the irony! iPhone 6 copies the Nexus 4. on: September 25, 2014, 04:44:37 PM
Every tech company is copying, don't see a problem here.

It wil help companies to improve their products and eventually we (the consumers) are the one that will get a better product in return.
12337  Economy / Digital goods / Re: Does anyone see value in these Bitcoin Domain Names I own? on: September 25, 2014, 04:39:50 PM
Some of them are not that bad, but it's certainly not a jackpot  Smiley

The domains related to altcoins are not in high demand, best is to stick with Bitcoin related domains as they have a much higher chance of selling.
12338  Economy / Speculation / Re: Will there be a bitcoin gold rush? on: September 25, 2014, 01:32:52 PM
I wonder sometimes that if bitcoin hits a breaking point where the price is growing and growing that many people around the world will be afraid to not invest in it, which will then make the price go even higher and higher.  I cold easily see how bitcoin could get 10% of the world's wealth in 6 months in a monster run.

10% of the worlds wealth? Not sure where you get these thoughts, but that's not going to happen.

You're views are not realistic at all.
12339  Economy / Digital goods / Re: www.bitcoinforstuff.com domain for sale on: September 25, 2014, 01:21:39 PM
Bitcoin domains are not in demand right now. Wait 2 years and then sell. Right now people will give you something like 0.01 btc for a domain like bitcoinforstuff.com .

They are in demand, if the domains are good enough then they will sell.

The only problem is that people are asking too much money for mediocre / poor domains.

@ OP

Just list your domains for sale, don't listen to what others say. Good luck!

Man Utd need to spend $100 m to fix their back four  Grin

Things change united days are over, di maria is class but that is it.

Past their best:

Rooney
Van Persie
Falcao - injury messed him up

Well 300k / week means business right  Wink

The more they spend the worse they will be.
This is the fact.

Im very disappointed with current play of MU.
I sure hope that they will play better in next few matches.

they will buy Pique in the next transfer window, no doubt about it.

that means another 200k-250k / week wasted

They will not buy Pique as he is staying at Barca.

Regarding Messi :

I don't think he will leave Barca as the clubs that can afford him are not even 60% as good as Barca.

Perhaps if he is in for big money then yes. Otherwise no.
