There doesn't seem to be a slowdown in the sheer number of heavy hitters involved with this project, with Forbes citation just stopping short of an endorsement.

If we had to judge a book by its cover, QTUM makes the grade.

too much hype around a project is not always best for all
1242  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][XEL] Elastic Project - The Decentralized Supercomputer on: February 07, 2017, 11:45:50 AM
If it's not maintained by the authors or a designated team but is instead left in the wild, whose to say that whoever picks it up first and launches a mainnet will even honor the original donators and genesis block?

Couldn't they just launch a mainnet with their own genesis and sell the coins again? And it sucks but if they are the first to launch... well, they got there first with free work.

I don't like how this could end up. You have every reason to be pessimistic.

You're right. You can launch your own coin with the current version of XEL code, BUT then:
-you will need to continue development on your own
OR
-you will have to follow XEL's development team in order to keep your coin up to the date with XEL, but what would be your value proposal then?

It's similar to RISE and LISK, where RISE team initially followed LISK very closely, but then they decided to start their own code from scratch.

In this case however, I believe XEL will be better than its clones :-)

There are some good things about clones too. It is free and good PR to the parent project since people will always look for the original

Obvious scam.  Save your btc.  Spend it on booze for yourself.  Don't support this scammers addictions.

indeed either a scam or vaporware, there's no code just talk

ahh moderate thread

scam bye

I think a white paper will be ready till ico start

hi hi
we are back from holidays now!

a few replies to you back there:

Erik is having this interview by XTecher, a renowned Chinese tech media later this afternoon (in about 5 hrs).
I will post the full EN translation of the interview here so you can get more detailed information.

Antcoin can be claimed in the Win wallet. If you find the ANC to be un-claimable, just do a transfer of the ANS from one add to another add in the wallet (sending and recipient add can be the same).

Our general ecosystem booster, the AntNest Fund project WP is coming soon, maybe early next week.

Our cooperation in the gaming sector is going to deliver more details very soon as well.

good to here. any plan to get a nano wallet or something instead of the really slow syncing web wallet?
1245  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NEM (XEM) Official Thread - 100% New Code - Easy To Use APIs on: February 05, 2017, 05:00:22 PM
I think it's a good idea to distribute the silver/gold funds to the original stake holders we've waited long enough for them. we could use it to start up supernodes. I definately would start one. We were here from the beginning testing and trying out the kinks on the early versions. We're not goin nowhere
I along with other true believers want to see XEM (our NEM) succeed. So Let start a conversation about silver/gold funds be distributed to the original stake holders at least to those who can still pvovide their tokens. Thanks DEVS for the great work. Keep strong nembers Grin

I really don't see why original stakeholders should be pandered to in any way whatsoever. They've either blown it or reaped the rewards already. It would make NEM look like a closed shop to benefit a small inner circle. It would be like Satoshi handing out his stash to the handful of cpu miners while everyone else looks on in disgust.

If there is a gesture to be made with those funds then it should be an inclusive one.

Its a hard one, the funds were put aside for all the original stakeholders.
Thats what the silver coins were intended  for.

As others mention, its a waste of funds to share it around all those accounts, when many are dead.
Perhaps a more fair way would be to lower the amount of XEM needed to run a supernode to the original amount of 1 stake of XEM and then put that fund into the pool of funds for supernode rewards?
I am not running a supernode.
But I am against the heavy lowering the amount of XEM needed to run a supernode, it will cause the dumping (3 million minus newly adjusted) XEM and lowering the price of XEM.
Even if the amount of XEM needed to run a supernode shoule be lowered, it should be done little by little slowly/gradually reflecting tho rising of XEM price.

P.S.) At any rate, i believe the amount of XEM needed to run a supernode will be lowered gradually according to the rising of XEM price.
Because supernode program is not an everlasting program, if it stops abruptly at a certain time, it will cause a big dumping XEM.
So, the best way is gradual lowering the amount of XEM needed to run a supernode.

I agree yshin, whats important is to make sure that enough supernodes are still active even with higher XEM prices, its possible that some current supernode supporter will leave if they could make a million with one click. So, making sure that the System will stay strong and maybe stronger  when time pass is to lower barriers, and wasnt that the original tought of NEM? A Fair distributed System for all partipicants, and not another one for very few persons.

@nzminer your suggestion is rewarding existing supernodes more than other user/  ,  i dont see any barrier how to distribute silvercoins,  1 method could be sending a persmission asset to all original Stakeholders adresses, if the stakholder sends back the permission asset he or she will recieve a silvercoin asset, this could be also an automatic progress,  dont see any barriers for that.  OR just splitt the community Fund and send another amound of NEM instead of silvercoin, could be voted.

Right now the community Fund holds a total percentage of 31% of NEM which means approx. 3Billion XEM! Splitted in following..

NIS NODE REWARDS 9%
SILVERCOIN DISTRIBUTION 9%
COMMUNITY FUND 13%

That means a total of approx 900million of XEM had been safed as Silvercoin Asset Distribution, and that was a consens from Beginning! And should be distributed to all Stakeholders! How and when had to be discussed instead to try changing the rules.

EDIT: Unclaimed approx. 200m XEM/silvercoins could be used for supernode programm or splitted to claimed accounts.

The coins could be delivered to the current stakeholders instead. And everyone gets silver coins for each 2250000 xem (one original stake).
But I don't know if its fair because it was promised to original stakeholders only...

that would make it possible to buy xem just to earn a silver coin and they could dump right after

Am i disqualified as a result my recent sex change sweetie?

A ninja distribution of the fund to all original stakeholders with an announcement here would be nice. As you said, a lot are long gone which would be like a semi burn.

Not at all. I support your transition all the way but sadly one's interest in cryptocurrency gets lost in that hormonal swirl. Believe me, I know.

I think we're kind of past doing anything involving original stakeholders any more. It would be too messy and complex.

I think it would be very possible to distribute those funds to the original stakeholders, perhaps make a way for people to claim within a 12 month window, but for all those that dumped its pretty easy to see if any of the genesis accounts still contain funds.

I think the good idea behind this could be to generate more supernodes if sometime needed. With the extra fund every original stakeholder would be able to run one.

I kind of agree with this point.

I want to run a supernode and have now got a nice fibre connection.

I could have dumped my nem on each pump cycle and bought back cheaper, but rather than be greedy and speculate, I was looking long term, yes I could have got enough to run a node (or even several nodes), but I didnt want to take that risk and ive been holding from day one, like a few have going by looking at the genesis block.

Now with the price XEM is currently, its so ironic that I cant afford to buy the difference needed to run a supernode.

If there is enough funds to distribute to each stakeholder, I think that is fair, but could be a cause of controversy, so would need full community agreement.

The dumpers have long since gone.

Yes I also think most people who wanted to dump already did it. And a lot of people lost their keys or failed to redeem etc.
The amount of people really holding since genesis AND having access to their stake should be not that high.

To reward those with the possibility to run a node, is in some kind the something similar as the Silvercoin reward program.
The higher the price gets, the more people will be against this, what I actually can  understand.

1150 sat for the XEM is just the beginning of growth, because with the release of a catapult will actually break up XEM, and taking into account this potential, namely 3,000 transactions per second, it will be a very strong growth XEM to 10k sat
That is what i think, 10k sat is the minimum target.

really looking forward to catapult release. @1 XEM=1$  i will tattoo the logo somewhere Grin
Haha, I think I might join you on that one, there are worse things you can do when you are rich.

Alright. Deal !  Cheesy

Svante, please address the current situation with the forging/blockchain problem. this is going on for too long and i want to get this resolved so i can stop wasting my time and attend to other things. So far the instructions you provided where not sufficient to resolve the problem.

A solution that seems to be working for people is being discussed in slack channel #general now:

https://heatslack.herokuapp.com/

HAHAHA fuck you nobody wants to join your fucked up slack! How about you post this bullshit solution right here? Oh yeah because now you are a private community on slack! Man HEat is truly the most fucked up bullshit I have ever seen...

are you going to leave after you got your beloved buywall?

1252  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][rICO]Antshares Blockchain Mainnet is ONLINE! on: February 01, 2017, 10:11:33 AM
is it somewhat like POS

Yes somehow Smiley. It's not PoS as you don't have to keep your wallet running to have them, but it depends on your balance.
Check out https://github.com/AntShares/AntShares/wiki/Whitepaper-1.1#k (Issuance of AntCoins) for the formula of ANC issuance.

or do I need to be making transactions.

You need outgoing transactions only to claim, not to get them.

I've made a few transactions
but no ANC have shown up ...

In AntShares Core, the Windows client, if you never claimed then it's normal to have 0(+unclaimed amount). You can claim using the menu Advanced > AntCoin Claim.

Ok then I guess this is not available for the web wallet as I don't see any option to claim Antcoins.

Im on a Mac, and while the webwallet works and syncs for me, still no stand alone MAC wallet.

Under Development...

to webwallet is syncing so slow. Any way to speed it up?

Is the total supply of xel 5million?
At first it was set to 5 million. Then the donators voted to rise the supply to 100 million.

I see, by looking at the lowest sell order in this thread, I'd say the marketcap is somewhere around 100000000 * 0.000053 btc = 5300 btc ($4.9mil), right?

You can be happy to grab some for 0.000053. More like 0.0001 should be average now
1255  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: VLT | Veltor | Lean Blockchain | on: January 29, 2017, 05:30:53 PM
Sunday update:

As some of you must have noticed, Veltor's hash rate has seen a steep rise this week. This is good for the network overall. However, we are still lacking on nodes and have to disperse our hash rate on the pools available to us.

But enough nagging for now.

I have decided to use Argon2 as a hash function for mining blocks. It was developed by a team of cryptography researchers and won a renowned password hashing competition. The algorithm is memory-hard, which makes it quite resistant to ASICs. It should help the Veltor network to stay more decentralised.

Argon2 mode of operation with no parallelism

One of the key advantages of Argon2 is the possibility to define custom parameters for the algorithm to change the performance, memory usage and parallelism. I will play with different sets of parameters to find the right trade-off between ASIC resistance and block validation times.

You can read more about it here: https://www.cryptolux.org/images/0/0d/Argon2.pdf

The progress on the codebase is going well:

Code:
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Language                     files          blank        comment           code
Go                              19            119             65            581
Markdown                         1              0              0              1
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
SUM:                            20            119             65            582
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

600 lines of code might not seem like much, but it includes an almost complete peer-to-peer network implementation, an initial working miner, transaction signing and block assembly. I believe that says a lot about the quality of the code. I refactor often and never stop until I find an elegant solution for what I'm working on. Simplicity and efficiency are my utmost priorities!

J.V.

i really like the idea of keeping everything clean and simple. good work! Wink

in the meantime golem hype is growing, feels like they are stealing our show  Angry makes me mad

https://www.reddit.com/r/GolemProject/comments/5cf70j/lets_request_poloniex_support_here_to_get_it/
try to comment everywhere that xel is way better and sooner launch

stop that currency-war shit! there is nothing more annoying than those folks that strolling around every thread and telling everyone "their" currency is better than xyz. that just leads to attacks from the other side and much annoying noise and distraction.

XEL will be ready way before anyone else and will convince by the technology itself, without trolling and fudding other projects.

I´m more than happy that this thread is so clean. No annoying bounty requests, FUD etc. I variation that I really like.
