1241  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bitcoin, the only thing that stands on its lane. on: September 06, 2023, 07:48:48 PM
To be fair, Binance is at the top of the CMC's biggest competitor Coingecko as well so no surprise that its at top of one of their own sites as well.
If you start checking Coingecko often, you will not always see Binance at the top. I can point to this later when I see it. In market volume, it is the first, but that doesn't mean it should be the most trusted exchange there when there are many other exchanges with excellent high trading volume.

However, for what it's worth; what's the state of those exchanges that existed before Binance now?
You just have to accept that Binance is not the first exchange and it is only copying what others have created before.

How many of them are still in business till date and have the same mileage and trust rating as Binance?
I do not trust Binance, that is why I have my coins on noncustodial wallet. There are also better exchanges. If there is no Binance, there will be other exchanges.

While I'm not standing in for CZ, I think it won't be nice to talk down on all that he has done for the industry.
He is earning money from millions of people. What has he exactly done that is new? The only person I know is Satoshi Nakamoto that created bitcoin and blockchain. Other people are copying and advancing what he did. I also respect bitcoin developers that makes bitcoin to continue to be decentralized. Other people are only developing centralized blockchain, coins and tokens to get rich and CZ is one of them.
1242  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Spot Ethereum ETF on: September 06, 2023, 06:26:55 PM
I am thinking that the companies that want Ethereum spot ETF also matters, I mean how numerous their customers are. I do not know much about ether ETF because it is bitcoin spot ETF that I am following.

Do not think ether marketcap is low, I do not think so, but spot ether ETF can help to increase the price of ether further, but I do not think ether can surpasses bitcoin in the coming bull run even if spot ETF is approved for both.

I do not know why Ethereum spot ETF should be approved because Ethereum is centralized.
1243  Other / Meta / Re: Should some topics from "Bitcoin Wallet" board be moved to "Wallet software"? on: September 06, 2023, 05:03:08 PM
If topics should be moved from that board, the board too should ceased. How many people are still using Bitcoin Wallet for Android on this forum? I think their number would be low and it does not need to have a board anymore. Likewise Mycelium.

I will prefer the board to be for all Android wallets or it should be ceased.
1244  Economy / Economics / CBDCs are created for unemployment purpose on: September 06, 2023, 11:57:12 AM
We can see how traditional banking has helped in creating employment. Many people are employed in the banks. The banks and their employees are paying taxes.

I read this today: CBDCs will gradually displace private banks, says Russian lawmaker

It is about a Russian lawmaker that believes CBDCs will gradually displace fiat and traditional banking.

Can this be what would later happen?
1245  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Investing in tokens on the base network on: September 06, 2023, 11:07:30 AM
a new base network has recently appeared, and immediately after the appearance, the first tokens on base grew hundreds of times in a day.  So after a few weeks, is it worth investing now in new tokens on this network or not?
DYOR. The only coin I can tell someone to invest on is bitcoin and maybe other good coins that has been existing already and having high market cap. The token you are token about is on another new blockchain, people will go for it, but if the price startes to fall, it can be a huge loss for someone. Gamble with these coins and if possibly that you make money from the little amount of money that you are able to afford to lose that you invested on it, convert the profit and the token to a better coin like bitcoin.
1246  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: Usb Encryption on: September 06, 2023, 11:00:53 AM
More than one backup needs to be saved and I am not very sure about saving it on a USB because there is still a chance that the USB will be infected with a virus which will cause the files to be damaged and no longer accessible.
If it an airgap device wallet, there is no problem. Get a new USB drive and backup the file.

If it is on an online wallet, it may not be safe. The problem this can have is if the USB drive is damaged or corrupted which can happen. The user will have to be doing the backup periodically like every 6 months on another USB drive.
1247  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bitcoin and get rich quick syndrome on: September 06, 2023, 09:33:28 AM
Unlike fiat which the amount in your bank account remains what it is, bitcoin in your wallet will constantly fluctuate, meaning that there is chances that you can gain or lose your bitcoin. This confirms that the chances of getting rich can also make you poor. Although the probability of earning in bitcoin, is more than loosing in it , if the person understood how to speculate the factors that determines the supply and demand of it, also to be disciplined.
If you are not in haste and you invested in bitcoin, you can first think that you are losing if you invest, but later you will gain.

But if you want to invest in bitcoin and earn more, you have to study the time to buy the dip.

So do you think that I'm correct about bitcoin, that it is not an easy way to get rich quick as some people will make believe, and it is just like other ventures where there is no guarantee of getting rich?
You do not have to trust people. A friend can even tell you to invest on something that belongs to scammer s and all of you would be scammed together at once. People have to do their own research, no matter how true what they hear from other people is.
1248  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bitcoin, the only thing that stands on its lane. on: September 06, 2023, 08:44:24 AM
What are some of the innovations that CZ brought that improved crypto industry?
I can mention few  Grin

He created an exchange which was not the first exchange that was created. His exchanges was created in 2017, but exchanges has been existing since 2013, or maybe since 2010.

He created BNB which did not follow bitcoin that was decentralized, but followed Ethereum that was completely centralized and CZ makes it more centralized because he made BNB in a way like USDT, USDC and others that can freeze the coin on noncustodial wallet.

He created BUSD the same way. Now Paxos is no more minting BUSD and its marketcap has fallen and it will continue to fall. Binance will soon have not support for BUSD and the coin will not be listed anywhere again.

He created BEP2 and BEP20 chain which are all centralized and a carbon copy of what other developers like Ethereum has done before

He supported Safepal, a close source wallet

He can not make his own coins price and exchanges listing site but bought coinmarketcap cap

I have forgotten what he did about Forbes some years ago because he wants more recognition.

The last thing I know he did was when his user's are moving their coins out of Binance, I think some people advised him to talk about it and he said moving money to noncustodial wallet is risky.  Grin

With everything I have listed above, you can see that CZ has been the copy cat of other developers.

Being a copying cat is also not an invention.

Regarding "trust and excitement", you are saying like this is a good thing. People trust exchange way too much already so anyone who makes people trust them even more is not doing a good thing.
Even if the exchange is hacked today, some people will remain fools  Grin
1249  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Crypto or Real estate on: September 05, 2023, 04:41:08 PM
If you have $200, you can invest in bitcoin. Can you have $200 and invest on real estate? That is not possible. Bitcoin gives the opportunity to many people to invest, even with small amount of money.

If you are comparing crypto (I am not referring to bitcoin), know that I will choose real estate instead because cryptos nowadays with the advent of ICOs have become a ponzi scheme, a place of scammers breeding with DeFi and other malicious ways.

If I have huge amount of money, I will diversity and invest in just bitcoin and real estate and land.

If I have small amount of money, I will go for only bitcoin.
1250  Economy / Economics / Re: To afford personal education or a property? Where to allocate funds? on: September 05, 2023, 02:50:45 PM
What is the best investment, in your opinion? To use this money to pay for your education, so you can conclude a superior course and achieve a higher degree, having access to a wide jobs' market, or to use that money to acquire an apartment, house or piece of land, so you can make a passive income from this.
People will have different opinions about this. If I am making money, I mean enough money and if I am rich already, I can never go for education because it is the education that I have that makes me rich. It is not about going to school before someone can be educated.

But for my children, they are young and I will not want them to be inferior to their other colleagues, I will send them to school.

It brings the following question up: what is more valued in life: to be or to have? Does it make someone fulfilled to have while not being or being without having anything?
I may not be able to answer all your questions, but the most important thing someone should have is money, after good health.
1251  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Share Your Bitcoin Hack Stories: Help Us Educate and Protect! on: September 05, 2023, 10:04:25 AM
I never encountered any crypto hack yet, but one of my friend's wallets was hacked though it wasn't Bitcoin. His metamask wallet has been compromised and lost BNB & USDT. From his investigations, he had connected his wallet to an untrusted site that drained his entire wallet. So before connecting your wallet to any site make sure it's trusted.
What I use to do is that I have a separate wallet for the connection because I do not trust any site. It is not what I do often, I have only done it two times before. I recently bought wsm, on their telegram page I asked a question and people started adding me to scam me in a way they want me to think that they are helping me with the question. Thanks for this forum, maybe I would have be scammed. Someone among them even sent me a link on telegram that is the real link to the wsm, I copied it and paste it on a word editor and checked the URL but it was a scam link. I do not know how that happened, but they are just waiting their time.
1252  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Share Your Bitcoin Hack Stories: Help Us Educate and Protect! on: September 05, 2023, 07:30:57 AM
I have not been hacked before and I do not think that would be possible because I do not take security as a joke.

Do not safe your seed phrase online
Avoid clicking on ads
Cold wallets are the most secure
Check and recheck bitcoin address before sending it to someone that wants to send you bitcoin or before sending bitcoin to someone
Using passphrase can help against attacks that are not online, but if you forget the passphrase, your coins would be lost
Read about how airdrops and KYC can lead to hack
Avoiding phishing attack. Read about it.
Do not let the public to know that you have bitcoin
Use 2FA if possible
Avoid saving password online

I have never come across news that would say that Bitcoin can be broken. Maybe the OP worded his question wrong.
This is not what OP is talking about, he is talking about individual, that if their wallet have gotten hacked before, that how was it hacked and the experience we have about hack. Probably the OP is working on an article to help educate other people.
1253  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Face unlock on bitcoin wallet devices on: September 04, 2023, 03:59:40 PM
Your security could be compromised at any time unknowingly, especially while you sleep.
This is the least of the security challenges you face and many companies have customized their system to only allow the face to be scanned if the eyes are open, but it cannot tell between a real person and a picture of the person.

It also relies on facial features so a lookalike can unlock the device using their own face.

It would have made sense if gadgets hid the name of security to be required, but unfortunately, all gadgets will let you and external people know the exact type of security needed at that time.
I have tried face unlock before with eyes closed, but it did not work. I have used my picture and it did not work, but the picture was directly on a phone. I can not try it now with my hardcopy picture because it will not work. Why? Because simple change in your look like cutting your full bears and full hair may not let it work and my look has really changed from the hardcopy pictures that I have right now. Only what I know that has work that people talked about is if you have twins or a brother or sister that resembles you, he or she may be able to use their own face to unlock your device. Generally, face unlock is neither secure and nor safe, fingerprint is even better but still considered unsafe either.

Two safe ones is pin or password.
1254  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Face unlock on bitcoin wallet devices on: September 04, 2023, 12:56:01 PM
Maybe he find it hassle since he will not say that if he think its good for him. I also didn't use that feature but not  the same with his reason since I just don't like to use it as we can't avoid to get wound on our hands and I'm worried about if we can't use our finger print to open up our wallet.  But for other its still good since this is additional security measure added for protection so if a user feel to use it then its really a good decision to do. For face unlock well I don't also use that and still doubting to try this feature.
Usually you can always use a pin code to unlock your wallet instead and you can add several fingers from both hands for the fingerprint, so even if you are wounded at several fingers or at a whole hand you will still be able to use the feature with the fingers remaining if you have registered all your fingers, and if you really can't use any of them for some reasons you can use the pin code as an alternative.
I am quoting you both.

@ultrloa. For face unlock, it is not a better security, it will only depreciate the security. It is not advisable at all. I have not seen a wallet that has that feature yet, but on phone, I will not advice people to use it because it is not secure at all.

@Saint-loup. All wallets that have fingerprint also have pin or password, you can enable both if you want. But the secure and safe way is to use only pin or password.
1255  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Gala - is it over or will it recover? on: September 04, 2023, 10:46:41 AM
One thing about altcoins is that they are centralized. See what happened to Pepe recently that millions of dollars worth of the coins were sent to four different exchanges and they sold it. I think this also happened to gala recently. That approximately $130 million worth if gala were sent to an exchange and sold. The best is still bitcoin, but you can gamble with altcoins.

1257  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Scammers sending messages of trust wallet verification. on: September 03, 2023, 03:06:54 PM
Your image is not clear but I can see 'confirm recovery seed phrase' which is written big in that blue area on your device.

It is a phishing attack, but you know and avoid it. Be careful with the sites you are giving your personal information like email and documents.

The hacker got your personal information from somewhere and trying to use it ti scam you.

There are some that will come in form of 'connect wallet. They are all scam.

Some links will contain malware which is the reason we supposed not to click on any link like that.
1258  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How SEC ETF Adjustment News Can Affect Your Crypto Investments Not Just Bitcoin on: September 02, 2023, 09:33:58 AM
Do you not know that without bitcoin, altcoins are dead. Check bitcoin price and most altcoins price, you will see how altcoin prices can increase when bitcoin price is increasing, and decrease when bitcoin price is decreasing. But this does not change the fact that some altcoins may become dead coin and some may not reach ATH.
1259  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bitcoin, the only thing that stands on its lane. on: September 02, 2023, 09:15:18 AM
In just August, DeFi was exploited and resulted to over $16 million losses.

What I used to read before was annually, but DeFI exploits are like almost daily and it is now monthly report  Grin

Another DEFI was known in August 27. Nearly $900000 was stolen.: https://cointelegraph.com/news/balancer-protocol-exploited-for-900k-as-defi-hacks-mount-finance-redefined

Do not worry, another DeFi exploits are coming this month.

DeFi which was not even decentralized was created for hackers to enjoy.
1260  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Which coin is more profitable? on: September 02, 2023, 08:23:12 AM
Bitcoin is most decentralized while many altcoins are centralized. Bitcoin is better and can reach ATH, unlike many altcoins. But in the process of gambling with altcoins, there are some altcoins that have more ROI than bitcoin. Just that some altcoins can become shit coin or a dead coin but bitcoin can not become shit or dead.
