1241  Economy / Speculation / Re: why's the price going down again? is it the China 'tards dumping again? on: May 06, 2014, 03:22:48 AM
Oh and while you're laughing so hard, don't forget to check the bitcoin price tanking like freefall in the meantime...
As shown in that ridiculous chart of mine...
1242  Economy / Speculation / Re: $438 and going down on: May 05, 2014, 02:24:37 PM
Get the F out of btc as long as you can. We had only good news last week, and quite a lot of it. Yet still the rate of decline is only increasing. Things will go south really fast in the upcoming few weeks. It will be double digits before we can possibly get a rebound.
1243  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Petition Launches For Spreadshirt To Add Bitcoin Payment Option on: May 05, 2014, 02:19:45 PM
Any word from spreadshirt yet? Are they aware of the petition?

I don't think they will be very impressed with 29 people willing to pay with bitcoin.

Good effort on the video, but the ladies should have said 'the people' or something. not just the bitcoin community.

1246  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Dark Wallet: Let There Be Dark! on: May 02, 2014, 08:16:49 PM
lol nothing to see here, just another 3rd party service to hold your coin and run away with them later.

it makes me laugh they cant even be arsed to make a tor website. they have no clue about security.

even on the normal internet, they cant even code secure https...

anyone putting your coin into dark wallet will lose it. and you will have no recourse with police investigations due to the fact that you will have to explain why you put funds into something advertised as used for the blackmarket.

Gotta love your signature man... The irony...

1249  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why all strip clubs worldwide will soon be accepting Bitcoin. on: April 26, 2014, 04:39:18 PM
I doubt this will happen, bitcoin has been around for a while now and interest just seems to be very low.
1250  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Mt Gox to liquidate coins on: April 24, 2014, 11:15:02 AM
Even if it's an auction, they will probably be sold anywhere between 50-75% of the current market price, those coins will soon appear on the exchanges to be dumped for that 25-50% profit by the buyer.

Even without rationalization, panic is whats going to happen, and that always affects the price.
1251  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Mt Gox to liquidate coins on: April 24, 2014, 10:26:46 AM
It seems that most people have been selling at a loss lately. Stop-loss tactics i assume, which isn't a bad idea considering the trend.
1252  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Mt Gox to liquidate coins on: April 24, 2014, 10:08:37 AM
I expect the bottom to be at around $200
1253  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Annual 10% bitcoin dividends if mining were Proof-of-Stake on: April 24, 2014, 10:03:38 AM
Let's not forget that all PoS implementations so far also suffer from quite a bunch of potential attacks that PoW does not. Do your research.
Maybe in the future somebody will come up with PoS that would really work.

1255  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: when bitcoins max out and miners are paid from fees. on: April 22, 2014, 11:48:47 AM
What happens if 1 company or person controlls over 90% do miners move to another coin or just use bitcoin?

If one party owns 90% of the network bitcoin is effectively dead, at least as it was intended. It's called a 51% attack.

Some miners mine to support the network and will even keep mining at least for a while when it's no longer profitable, betting the future value will make up for it. The difficulty makes sure it will always balance itself to keep mining a relevant operation if the network isn't completely compromised.

1258  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How a Restaurant can Implement BTC on: April 20, 2014, 06:24:10 PM
If I owned a restaurant,

The customer would pay when they order. It will get a confirmation by the time food is ready.

Then they can leave a tip at the end of the meal.

You don't need confimations for accepting Bitcoin for food and drink.

In over three years now we had a few thousand Bitcoin payments which were all accepted once broadcasted to the net with zero confirmations and we did not have one single double spend.

I know this might change but so far don't worry about confirmations in this kind of business. Someone wanting to cheat in a restaurant is much more likely to just leave without asking for the bill than to actually try to double spend Bitcoins.

Joe

Of course you need confirmations, recently we have seen demonstrated over and over how easy it is to doublespend.
