1241  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What is the feature of Bitcoin? on: September 26, 2023, 12:42:06 PM
What do you think about what is the feature of Bitcoin, can Bitcoin touch $50,000 in 2025? I think that Bitcoin will go to $50,000 but not in 2025, maybe in 2026.
Wrong question, I would rather ask why are you thinking it will not.

Do you have like a debt to pay back and you look a loan to buy bitcoin and now not seeing moon anytime soon because market has been bearish for months? If so, you took the wrong step. Bitcoin is not a get-rich-quick scheme, it is a long term game.

Above price is possible, the only factor is time. You need to give that to it. If you are in a hurry to make money, then you have lost the game already.
1242  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Is gambling all about luck? on: September 26, 2023, 12:29:18 PM
Luck plays a role be it EV+ or EV- in nature. Just that the luck factor is smaller in the former than the other but can often become significant to make you lose or win. If you ask me, for the common people, gambling is a game of luck because most of them dont know about EV+ games because they are like full time jobs, the players are studying it and dedicating full time to it.

Even then its not a cup or cake to conquer an EV+ game, hence if you dont want to get washed out, avoid gambling.
1243  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Credit card gambling fuels gambling addiction on: September 26, 2023, 12:26:28 PM
If I say it in this way credit card fuels compulsive shopping, because the product is in front of the eyes of the customer and the money is easy to spend does that sound similar? If I say that credit card fuels gluttony because the diners are easy to order from and the money is close, does that also not sound similar?

The point I am trying to make is that companies work with each other to bring that spending attitude to people and the same in gambling. Whether or not you choose to spend/gamble is a choice yours to make. So many people are out there exposed to the same but rarely use them.

So yeah it does fuel but not just gambling, it fuels any of the "seven sins" so to speak. But you can always back the control.
1244  Other / Meta / Re: Would it be possible if there was some kind of like button? on: September 26, 2023, 04:20:47 AM
The problems listed above are not related to like (or heart) button deficiencies but a side effect of campaigns and because people posting in this dont always follow up the replies and even if sometimes they try to, they rarely get a reply. Like If I think of a good reply and write it, after a couple of days I would come back to see what others may have opined, that is very less in discussion sections.

Merit is something that bridges this but getting a post to be seen by a merit source is a matter of luck and we dont want the forum to become a social media much like what today telegram and whatsapp have also become.
1245  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: [List] Free Tools to speedup BTC transactions on: September 25, 2023, 09:34:36 AM
Please correct me if I am wrong. Share your experience with these tool if they ever worked for you...
None, I repeat, None of the stuff you posted here actually works.

In fact the whole idea of "transaction accelerator" is a made up bullshit, in my opinion.

Use Replace-by-fee, switch to SegWit from legacy if you have not already (seriously? Its 2023 already) or use the Lightning network.

Previously we have had many scammers appearing to accelerate transactions while in reality they were doing nothing because such technologies dont exist. Miners preferentially selecting transactions just because ask them to seems very unlikely to be real to me. Paying/Bribing them to accept yours early - its better just to use a higher fee. Roll Eyes

Edit: ViaBTC works as confirmed by many others.
1246  Other / Meta / Re: is Politics and Society board turning into a lowkey Off-topic board? on: September 25, 2023, 09:16:15 AM
P&S is one of those sections of the forum which you find in the deepest depths of the internet and an absolute hilarious one too. I sometimes read a couple of threads and the replies there just to get a good laugh at seeing how badly some troll accounts can be in order to be a charlatan, I am sure my fellow forum members know who such accounts are.

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion though, hence I dont report nor take a grudge from these posts even if they go against my own way of thinking. At least you need a place to keep the whackos intact or they crap the rest of the forum too. Grin
1247  Local / India / Re: high taxes for two more years on: September 25, 2023, 09:10:48 AM
If crypto is your main source of income and you are regularly converting that to fiat for daily spending, then you are out of options you have to suck up the tax and continue like this until some miracle happens.

Alternatives are:
1. Daily spending from a different fiat source - your salary maybe? and keep the bitcoins stashed for that future miracle.
2. Buy giftcards to spend on store, rest of the spending from fiat. Though I have never compared how much we are paying for the giftcards and their equivalence to the fiat in rupee.

I am optimistic after the last G20 Summit, for the younger generation, keeping patience while the government form their steps will yield good results in future in my opinion.

1249  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Gives the poor an Opportunity. on: September 24, 2023, 12:24:31 PM
Stocks are not expensive to get into I dont know which markets you are referring to, but my country markets are easily buyable considering what the average person here earns. Real estate is expensive, that I do agree and so is bitcoin. This is all relative depending on how much the person is willing to spend and earns in fiat.

Also being poor is often a curse for some and a blessing for another. Some people never want to get out of their misery and grow their condition of living into something better. Bitcoin will not change that status quo but how you define poor makes a difference here. A person who has access to electricity, internet, education is in the class between rich and poor.
1250  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Are memecoins tarnishing the image of crypto? on: September 23, 2023, 04:45:41 AM
Meme coins might be considered red flag in the market but know that at some point, they were able to bring some hype in the market especially in the case of Dogecoin and followed by Shiba Inu. So for me, they're not actually tarnishing the image of crypto, it's just that they are not reliable and profitable enough compared to bitcoin.
Memecoins generate hype but that is not always a good thing or directed in a good direction. However this depends on what your definition of good is. For me they misdirect the new traders into false promises and scams. Therefore I don't recommend them to anyone asking me. Bitcoin on the other hand has been here for more than a decade now and we have seen how profitable it can be.

Eventually the memecoins get burnt out and this cannot be identified quickly for a trader to react and sell even at a break even but at a huge loss.
1251  Economy / Economics / Re: Small Scale Business Ideas on: September 22, 2023, 03:17:56 PM
Availability, Behavior and Communication are the ABC in running a small scale business - the three are good general traits and are applicable in many other aspects of life.

One needs to identify a niche which might be deficient in a place and start their business with that in hand. Capital originally comes from their own pocket, maybe loan from banks and then if they manage to scale the business well, public offering of stocks and so on. It is a long term thing and it need a lot of labor from the side of the owners.

Its not easy and its not for everyone, patience is important and so is a backup mode of money making because this will take time to develop and grow.
1252  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Secure Your Legacy, Educate Your Loved Ones on: September 22, 2023, 03:14:27 PM
Educating your next of kin about bitcoin becomes a key important thing because if you look into traditional investments, they all have the nominee system but since bitcoin is still new in this, we have to set up this nominee thing ourselves. Let not be saddened by the state of events but take this as a grain of salt into reality, we all will face this day and therefore get your close ones knowledgeable about crypto first hand, slow and steadily and then allow them access to your coins partially or send them coins to own once you feel they have learnt well.

Eventually they will learn and be able to take over as inheritance.
1253  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Mainstream coins or altcoins? on: September 22, 2023, 03:08:47 PM
Mainstream coins or altcoins.  I mean it's bitcoin and then everything else is altcoins so I think you need to figure out what you are asking first.  But if you are talking large cap vs small cap coins it all depends on your goal and appetite for risk.  There is not one size fits all answer here.
Yeah bitcoin is the only coin that needs to be bought. Not sure what OP meant by mainstream coin but both popularly known newly launched coins, memecoins and shitcoins are not worth the time nor money. Bitcoin is mainstream enough in my opinion, heck it is the only one that is globally recognised as a notorious new currency.

Large cap always over small cap. You can never get a good long term output from small cap coins with small factions controlling the demand supply and why bother to crack your head over it anyway when you have bitcoin at hand.
1254  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: To Deal with Resistance and Support on: September 21, 2023, 03:17:46 PM
The theory sounds simple but practically a lot more things come up. So try your hands at trading while you get this in your head. I suggest dummy trading to any newbie who might be reading this because that saves up your money and a lot of frustration but gives you good insight and a head start.

A support level would be built where many buyers are present, it is usually lower than the trading price and the resistance level would be built where a lot of sellers are present. As the price drops more difficult to cross support levels are found because people are ready to buy at discounted prices. Visualizing this concept is easier if you have first trading experience, so try it out.
1255  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin obsession! on: September 21, 2023, 02:58:39 PM
Let's take the forum for instance, how many members do you see bump discussions topics in the technical boards of the forum like it's done in the other boards like trading discussion, beginners and help, bitcoin discussion etc. So the higher the number the higher the obsession effect is notice and importantly discussed, but that doesn't make the tech aspect of crypto not worthy of discussion regarding obsession.
I would think twice before using the forum board post metrics as a measure of what is people obsessing over and what not.

The number of technical people in this forum is handful while the number of general posters are immense.

Not everyone here has a background of programming and most of them are here to utilize bitcoin as a mode of payment or for trading. But this does not mean that the people who post in discussions are obsessed with bitcoin, they are often posting because of the signature campaigns they get into. People are obsessed with gambling and trading but I dont think the term is so much applicable to bitcoin in a core aspect.
1256  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Cryptocurrency restrictions in some countries is a blessing in disguise. on: September 21, 2023, 02:53:15 PM
Even the deaf Grin knows what's  a BITCOIN it's just makes life easier .
I would not go to that extent to declare that disabled people can know and use bitcoin, they rather have their own problems to solve and they prefer fiat for that instead of going for a currency their government has put in a grey zone with no store accepting it as payment.

Besides,  Bitcoin is well trusted online other coins it might have a bearish run but always come back with a greater bullish run which is super cool than other Altcoins
It is a cycle and that cycle continues on and on just that length of the cycle varies. This should be identified quickly for a trader to profit and not get stuck with the euphoria when the price rises or the frustration when the price falls. Being able to move in the opposite when the cycle goes is a key point in profiting from the market.
1257  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Moment of truth on: September 20, 2023, 02:53:26 PM
Dont mind me I want to answer each question as well.

1. what helped you blend into this space?
Curiousity and having an urge to be able to make money on my own beyond my daily job.

Quote
2. tell us how your journey in cripto has been.
Excellent, I am witnessing crypto gaining mainstream acceptance which when I started out first would be think that we were at least several decades away, but it rather happened in less than one decade.

Quote
3. what would be your advice to the newbie still trying to figure things out?
Crypto is difficult to muster. Stick to bitcoin and stick to long term gains. Shiny new stuff are always losing bets and learn to secure your devices and network before you start.

Quote
4. Did you also have the "get rich quick" mindset. I bet it slowed down your learning process.
No. But many newbies have this mindset which needs to be stopped when it comes to any life aspects.
1258  Economy / Economics / Re: Early Retirement [Pros and Cons] on: September 20, 2023, 02:48:59 PM
This seems more like the reality that most people who rush in to job are not passionate about the job but something else. That leads to greater job related dissatisfaction and poor performance and increasing number of vacations to avoid work while their actual passion runs out.

Those who actually go for their passions never really think about retiring, its like their life in another form. So I think younger generation should spend more time to look up their passion and follow that in order to avoid this consequence in the future.

Also in poor countries just having a job that pays you monthly is better because the free grants for the poor do not exist in majority of the world.
1259  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Never gamble in front of your kids. on: September 20, 2023, 02:44:26 PM
Kids learn fast and they are curious about everything. One good example is how kids perceive the concepts of reproduction and sexuality - because these are vital subjects that need to be taught in the correct manner in order to develop a free thinking and non-judgemental adult. Similar with gambling and other games of chance in my opinion. Show them how you have only lost money on BJ and never made anything significant. Teach them about the math behind this and why everyone keeps on gambling even when they keep losing.

If they learn these they will abhor gambling and teach about it to their friends as well.

On the other hand just telling them that something is bad will not solve the problem but increase it because that will tingle their curiosity and they will start searching about it and land up in the wrong parts of the internet.
