Locking thread and started one to replace it https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=924727

Turning on moderation even though I hate it.  Please keep name calling/fighting in PM's.  It just makes the thread harder to read for others.

12443  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Good mining setup? New and looking for advise. on: January 14, 2015, 06:32:32 AM
Look at SP or Antminers.  That miner has never been confirmed.  It's been advertised but no reviews.
12444  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: _Underscore is taken! on: January 13, 2015, 10:07:19 PM
Coinbase is good.  A little of setup work, but after you can always use it.
12445  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER C1 Discussion and Support Thread on: January 13, 2015, 09:49:16 PM
I'm able to connect to the miner again but it's not hashing. Here are the screenshots:

What PSU are you using?

Thank you very much for responding.
An Aerocool Strike-X 1100W 90A at +12V; but the PSU cannot be causing any problems, it has to be a network thing because as I said the miner worked perfectly at my home (previous location) during more than 20h and everything was ok. Now I'm trying to make it work from an office at university, I do not need any login to access the internet, I just got a router and connected it to a RJ45 from the wall, internet works nicely, the miner does not.

Any ideas? Is it maybe a ports thing?

It could be internet related as part of the problem but it wouldn't usually display like that - you'd just get pools with no connection. It very much looks like a hardware issue with the main culprit being power [as you have no modules shown]. PSUs can die at the most random times as well.

The last thing you can try is updating the C1's firmware to the latest version, but I don't think that's your problem, and you'll need a second PSU to test.

Hello again, a couple of days and nothing seems to work. I took it back home (from university office) today and it is working great, no problem at all. As I told you the PSU is not the problem, it's less than 24hours old (the PSU) and same the miner.

Curiosity, at uni it shows X.X.X.0 in hardware software version and at home 3.3.3.0
This shows that it is definitely a network's problem, but how could I fix it??!

Thank you very much in advance for any possible solution. I wish Bitmain had a half decent customer support after shipping. It's an "only selling" company and it seems like I'd waste my time waiting for them to give me a solution so I'm not gonna even try.

Unfortunately I'm not sure why it wouldn't work if you're using DHCP, sorry.

You will need help from your university.   There could be additional security on dorms.  What IP address does your computer get?   Is your miner in same range?

It almost sounds like your seeing a cache of miner.  If you clear history/cache can you still see it?
12446  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Antminer C1 not connecting on: January 13, 2015, 07:21:54 PM
Is it on the same IP number? IE both using for example 192.168.1.X

I would look into the differences between two networks.
12447  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Jan 12th to Approx Jan 27th diff thread (3.5%) on: January 13, 2015, 07:20:30 PM
228 per coin.... ouch.   This hurts all miners.

My guess is that at $280 we would see a 0% change. every $10 more or less than that will probably be a 1% difference.

right now i think -6% is pretty damn likely. Ive turned off the S2 and the BTCGarden for now, but all my SP-tech gear is still profitable and raking in btc.

if you switched to sp20's or s-5's you are good to go.

if you are at 600 watts/ 1200 gh     10 cents a kwatt   1 sp20   with the price at 228 usd you earn 1.63 a day over the power price.

if you are at 800 watts 1000 gh       10 cents a kwatt 2 s-3's    "      "      "     "    "    "     you earn 64 cents a day over the power price.

these are good numbers  for those that have switched out.

At this price I will have to think my miners before summer if it continues to drop.

With very low price of BTC it will be interesting to see what miner prices do.

Will be wiring these in tonight:

That will be a very clean setup.  Love the holder for miners perfect fit.
12449  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Easiest way on: January 13, 2015, 01:20:13 PM
Easiest is to buy straight out.

Second is to mine if you enjoy it.  BTC is so low though buying direct deserves a look at.

12451  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Fire started by mining machines??? on: January 13, 2015, 08:14:30 AM
My GF Keeps telling me that my machines are going to start a fire and burn down the house.  Has anyone heard of this?

It is possible.   Lets say you have a big draw and you split a low gauge wire into two PCI-e it could burn.

Fires don't happen that often though.  Just by amount of miners sold and amount shown burnt you will see this.
12452  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: hashra.com asic scrypt.... scam? on: January 13, 2015, 03:28:30 AM

So no news - is not good news I suppose.  It is Monday now and it sounds like no one has gotten anything from Hashra.

No news is not always good news.  In bitcoin preorders no news has lead to many bad results in past.

Everyone is quiet.  One thread locked that was reseller.  It looks like a strong possibility of bad news to come.  Could be in form of no news.

That reseller (lifeforcepools) has until January 19 to come up with a credible explanation and working tracking numbers. I'm leaving negative trust for him and other shills in this mess on the 20th.

I was not going to mention name.   But I found that thread specifically to be odd.  Started off great then got quiet and ultimately lock the thread.

The one I almost lost to was terrahash.   It started off great then missed promises, and eventually was locked and moved to lawsuits.   Preorders are risky I highly suggest everyone look at their payment (Credit Cards and Paypal) and not miss deadlines to get money back.

Again I hope I'm wrong as I would love to see a new Scrypt miner, but it's not looking good.
12453  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER C1 Discussion and Support Thread on: January 13, 2015, 03:21:32 AM
I seen that 6 fan mod as well, digging through my scrap parts now for more fans Smiley and my wife criticizes me for my piles of old computers hahaha

I have a odd number with only adding two.  I thought about adding a third on backside but with winter air it really does not make a lot of difference Smiley. Maybe during summer I will add the last one.

Ended up adding another fan.  Now have 6 fans on each radiator.  They were cheap fans I had laying in my parts pile.   If you have a high RPM fan to add it really could make a difference on amount of air though.

12455  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: SP20 Jackson by Spon-Doolies on: January 13, 2015, 12:07:58 AM
Hey guys,

I need help picking out a 1300w PSU for my 3 SP20 Jackson rigs. I found few on amazon.com and newegg.com - EVGA SuperNOVA 1300G2 ATX12V/EPS12V 1300W 80Plus Gold Power Supply 120-G2-1300-XR.
Please can any one recommend something? thank you

You cannot go wrong with that PSU.  If you are under clocking you can use a much smaller PSU.

I have used the SuperNova 1300, and lightning 1300.  No issues with either on SP20's.

Is there a way to have the miner not hash during certain times of the day?
At the simplest idea of mine, was to hook up one of those AC timers that kills the power during certain times and then restores it at others.

Thats a very noble way and most effective.
You could also write a script that kills cgminer (and cgminer monitor) during your chosen downtime but ensure it is started during your chosen uptime. (don't ask me how to do it 'cause I do not know AND you've already got a good solution!)

Great idea!  Could go even farther and use different frequencies at different times.  It's colder at night would be nice to have night freq, and day freq.
12457  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Overclocking an AntMiner C1... on: January 13, 2015, 12:03:42 AM
One thing you might want to add 3 fans to opposite side so it pushes and pulls if you are overclocking.
