12462  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is Ripple really a cryptocurrency? on: May 10, 2018, 09:29:07 PM
No you cannot say that Ripple is a real cryptocurrency. It is looks more like a centralized system, which is the the very opposite of what a good cryptocurrency should look like. For me, Ripple is a sort of banking system for transferring value. That being said, I do think Ripple has its place in the current constellation of things, probably as a new type of payment technology.

https://arewedecentralizedyet.com/

This website shows some centralization data

Take a look ate ripple here.

Fully centralized. But I agree, they have a place in the cryptocurrency world.
12463  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ethereum Releases Casper Protocol on: May 10, 2018, 09:21:41 PM

Furthermore, in order to enter the PoS game, one is supposed to own 1,500 ETH to receive stacking reward. This is really huge, and I don't see how they are going to avoid centralization. Ah, wait, the network is already pretty much centralized.

Lol I was expecting to stake my few gweis .
This is much worse than I thought
12464  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: These Facts Indicate A Negative Condition of Cryptocurrency — Be Warned on: May 10, 2018, 07:58:46 PM
These are not facts but your opinion. I think most of those "facts" are just wrong.

1. Cryptocurrency is not regulated by any authorized organization. The issuer of cryptocurrency will not be in charge of commercial crime if there is. The issuers are mostly private companies when they don’t necessarily announce their financial statements.
You are confused. Cryptocurrency regulation has nothing to do with crimes.
If someone still your crypto it's a crime in most countries. There are many examples out there.

2. The influence of cryptocurrency is not expected as it’s encrypted. The market capitalization indicates a volume of 419 billion and there’s a large part of transactions are crime activities. Bitcoin is now the biggest currency in black market by TOR browsing when regulators are impossible to track them. A few months after Silk Road was wiped out, many have opened extra terminals to proceed Litecoin LTC for a reduction of risks.

Dollar is used for illegal activities also.
According to wikipedia The United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime's World Drug Report 2005 estimates the size of the global illicit drug market at US$321.6 billion in 2003 alone.
This is more than 600x the whole cryptomarket.

So, this fact indicates dollar will fail too?

3. Can cryptocurreny be in use alike present currencies? The answer is NO but not fully negative. According to its unstable feature, this is not a good idea to proceed by cryptos. For example, if commodity is sold for 1 Bitcoin as Bitcoin prices at, let’s say $9,000, what if it drop to $7,000? Cryptocurrency possibly becomes steady after major countries promote cryptocurrency as one of major payment methods.
This is not a problem, as in this early stage of crypto prices can be adjusted periodically. People are selling pizzas since 2010 with BTC.

4. Your property is not completely safe in bank but securer than in crypto exchange and wallet. Typically, users upload crypto and personal information on Datum cloud by paying Datum coin so Datum is able to collect either profile or crypto from customers with a centralization strategy. Depositors in either bank or wallet confront similar risks: either bank or exchange account are possible become hacked; there is a chance that they become collapsed as well. However, these factors confront differently in possibility when bank is much more steady and regulated.

If you own your private key and you keep it safe, you are the only person in the world who can access these funds.
If your money is in the bank they take it from you anytime. They can revert ANY transaction. There is no 6 blocks confirmations in the fiat system. Even if the transaction is 10 years old it can be reverted.
If you don't have funds in your bank account, the bank can give you a negative balance. Summary: If your money is on the bank, it's not yours.

With crypto you own the funds, nobody can touch it.
All transactions in crypto are irreversible and nobody without the private key can touch them.

5. The restriction to cryptocurrency is far not enough. First, crypto is not a local case but the global what indicates a difficulty of control.
Crypto is not there to be controlled. It was designed to be uncontrollable.

Second, government will not give up on the currency issued.
Government can issue all the currency they want, that will not stop crypto.
12465  Local / Criptomoedas Alternativas / Re: Dúvida sobre wallet Ethereum on: May 10, 2018, 06:49:01 PM

Pra vc movimentar essas tokens vc precisa GAS.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=3260155.0;topicseen
Aqui explica e no comentário logo embaixo ensina a ir no http://ethgasstation.info/ e pagar a menor taxa possível.

12466  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: May 10, 2018, 05:52:07 PM
It is funny watching how after each bullish post,  the bear trolls post in a matter of seconds maid up shit posts. Epecially Terra and her multiple newbie accounts praising her own wisdom  Grin Sure, Wall Street buying thousands of Bitcoins is a bear news, why not, if you say so.

In a bear market every news is bad news.
In a bull market every news is good news.

Just doesn't make sense.
12467  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: May 10, 2018, 03:24:11 PM
Any wall street involvement with public cryptos is a ploy to get inside and take them down, like with the futures.

Cryptocurrency and Bitcoin are for everyone. And that include wall street investors.

Bitcoin is a new asset class with high returns and is non-correlated to any other asset (no correlation to bonds, stocks, etc)

Hedge funds, pension funds, they all wanna buy bitcoin. They are coming and they cannot be stopped. They WANT to come in

But they can't for regulation and legal reasons. one day they will, and market will BOOOOOM
12468  Local / Português (Portuguese) / Re: O quanto as Criptos estão Descentralizadas? on: May 10, 2018, 01:03:06 PM

12469  Other / Meta / Re: System of nMerit on: May 10, 2018, 03:18:08 AM
This is new system of bitcointalk? Have any announcement about this?

No, he is just suggesting again something that was already suggested a thousand times and is not a good idea for several reasons...
12470  Other / Meta / Re: Global structure of merit networks on: May 09, 2018, 07:00:15 PM
I was very happy that with some zoom I could find my name and even found my local board .

You should provide a way for others to explore this visualization (website?). I can already see the main sources of account farming for some sections. Surprise, surprise. Roll Eyes

that would be a great idea. Where we could make zoom in to see these connections more clearly.
12471  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bitcoin is the most decentralized cryptocurrency on: May 09, 2018, 06:53:36 PM

Definition of Decentralised Market: "A market structure that consists of a network of various technical devices that enable investors to create a marketplace without a centralised location."
...

This topic is irrelevant, so is the website.

if you ignore the consensus mechanism that is being developed by most of these coins;
if you ignore your own quote;
if you ignore that few investors can control the price of the asset if they own a great stake;
if you ignore that  the number of entities controlling mining power affects decentralization;
if you ignore a million things that I am not in the mod right to point out...

even your quote doesn't make sense. Dollar is decentralized according to it.
12472  Other / Beginners & Help / decentralization of crypto - % of money supply held by top 100 wallets on: May 09, 2018, 06:32:14 PM
I have just discovered this website today

https://arewedecentralizedyet.com/

This website shows the % of money supply held by top 100 accounts of those coins, which are the top in coinmarketcap.

Ripple's centralization is ridiculous, let's just ignore it.

According to this data, bitcoin is still the most decentralized cryptocurrency. Could be better, but we are on our way!

35% of ethereum tokens are on top100 address. Is PoS really a good idea?? Maybe Ethereum still needs to mature some more time to distribute these coins?
12473  Local / Português (Portuguese) / Re: O quanto as Criptos estão Descentralizadas? on: May 09, 2018, 06:08:59 PM

- Bitcoin 19%
- Ethereum 35%
- Ripple 98%  Shocked
- Bitcoin Cash 25%
- Stellar 95%
- IOTA 62%
- NEO 70%

12474  Local / Português (Portuguese) / Re: BitConf 2018 on: May 09, 2018, 12:35:27 PM

12475  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: EOS will be blockchain3.0 on: May 09, 2018, 12:27:19 PM
I think these charts are misleading. This chart is only criticizing proof of work.

These BTC "weakness" pointed out are exactly what made BTC strong, resilient and unstoppable. The Proof of Work.

Confirmation time, transaction cost, block time, etc, are all required to secure the network and keep it as decentralized as possible.

This is not Blockchain 3.0, this is just an untested consensus mechanism, which could lead to great things or lead to one more centralized coin which may die in few years...
12476  Economy / Speculation / Re: Futures destroyed Bitcoin on: May 09, 2018, 12:19:50 PM
I bet the twins regret getting Bitcoin listed on the CME.
Bitcoin Futures will keep the price LOW!
In futures no one buys bitcoin!
It just a bet: up or down

Bitcoin is not that fragile, and Futures have low volume compared to BTC.

If you Bitcoin can't survive being listed as a future, well, sell it then.

Bitcoin has survived many death attempts already.
Bitcoin will keep up growing wildly without a central planner.
12477  Other / Meta / Re: The future of the signature campaigns on: May 09, 2018, 11:56:54 AM
I think signature campaigns are also a method to spread Bitcoin's adoption.
Many people who never owned a bitcoin or any other crypto come here and become spammers/shitposters, or maybe even a good forum member, and receive his first cryptos by doing sig/bounties.
12478  Other / Meta / Re: Forum ranks/positions/badges (What do those shiny coins under my name mean?) on: May 09, 2018, 03:19:39 AM
Besides that you need to actively contribute on the forum to receive merit from the moderator. good luck!
You don't have to receive merit from Moderators. Anyone with smerit can give merit. Just need good posts and you will receive them.
12479  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Investment portfolio (20k $) on: May 09, 2018, 03:12:05 AM
I would suggest you keep at least 50% in BTC and 25%ETH.
The other altcoins are more volatile, so keep safe. In my opinion, The biggest the marketcap, the safer.
12480  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How important are miners to the Ethereum network ? on: May 09, 2018, 03:01:22 AM
How important are miners to the Ethereum network?

Just like Bitcoin or any other Proof of work....
They create new blocks and solve cryptographic puzzles.
Take a look here, i tried to explain how it works https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=3317586.0;topicseen

Ethereum is not PRoof of Stake yet.
