12481  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Paper Wallets For Tipping on: June 09, 2019, 03:25:40 AM
i am not really a big fan of transferring bitcoin like this in a physical form or basically anything that is not on-chain and fully decentralized and also ways that just gives others money which they may dump and go away not looking back ever again, which is why i have never attempted anything like this. but i admit that although this may not be the best way but the benefits of it are a lot because it is still introducing people to bitcoin in a way that it may even be more palpable for them (physical paper).

I see no problem in bitcoin in a physical form like this.
She can at anytime transfer those bitcoins to a more secure wallet, like any mobile wallet for example, just scanning the qr code.

A paper wallet is a nice way to gift bitcoin to people.

if it is for tipping and free money giveaways then there isn't that much problem with it as long as the receivers don't just rush to dump what they receive for fiat and never look back.
but for payments it is very bad since not only it is a risky thing to accept "payments" this way (the payer already has the private keys and if the receiver is to sweep the funds right away then there is no point in receiving payment like this in first place) but also it can introduce centralization if it becomes a popular thing.
12482  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Keiser: Bankers Can't Stop Bitcoin on: June 09, 2019, 02:52:58 AM
"First they ignore you, then they laugh at you, then they fight you, then you win”.

that is the story here.
first they ignored bitcoin and remained in denial that their time is up and their corruption is coming to an end.
then they started ridiculing bitcoin and called it magic money.
then the panic set in and they started fighting which is where the "ponzi scheme" "fraud",... labels came out. and also the continuation is them creating their own centralized coins.
the end result is bitcoin's win.
12483  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Indulging with cryptocurrencies could send you to jail in India on: June 09, 2019, 02:45:42 AM
Have you guys heard about the news where the court decided to not only make the cryptocurrencies illegal and banning bank accounts from dealing with them they also decided to make another rule.
the court has not yet decided, it is just a bill that first needs to pass to become law and it has not yet passed.

Quote
Isn't this the most ridiculous thing ever ?
well there already are third world countries like Bangladesh that have been doing that for years! and of course it is ridiculous specially since the rest of the world is doing the exact opposite meaning accepting bitcoin with open arms!

Quote
what is the government doing and why ?
1 word: corruption!

Quote
now it's becoming more like China ,
China has no issue with bitcoin! it is legal to trade, mine, own and make payments with it there.
12484  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How to safely store big amounts of BTC? on: June 09, 2019, 02:37:45 AM
Generate multiple seeds and store those offline where the biggest amount takes the biggest effort to retrieve.

I would do the same. I don't trust hardware wallets that much and would rather have the seed engraved on a metal plate and stored somewhere in the house. Even if there's a fire it won't be able to destroy your metal seed but it will burn a hardware wallet making it impossible to use.

there is not that much issue with trusting hardware wallets since most of their firmware is already open source but there still is room for concern. i personally will never use hardware wallets because i believe people shouldn't pay for a bitcoin wallet since they can make a secure one themselves if they put enough time into it. and if you have a lot of money at stake you should spend time learning how to do it anyways.
12485  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Apocalyptic Scenario - What happens to Bitcoin? on: June 09, 2019, 02:14:05 AM
Many claim that bitcoin will be worthless and gold, guns, and ammunition will be very valuable.

in your apocalyptic scenario, ask yourself this:
can you eat gold, bitcoin,...? can it keep you warm at night? can it protect you against intruders?
you see when there is a disaster as you describe, there is no society anymore and concept of money will no longer exist so anything that has been used as money will cease to exist and barter system will replace it. barter means you give food and receive ammunition for protection and things like that.

12487  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Data on Blockchain [Question] on: June 09, 2019, 01:56:28 AM
That is something I will consider. However, for every transaction say the transaction creator will be entering data. How hard it is to achieve this on a programming level and of course on ETH chain. Will the above scenario work for a smart contract as well?

it is very easy to code this since it is just a trivial and simple code to write as long as you have basic familiarity with transaction structure and scripts.
as for ethereum case, i am not that familiar with its blockchain but you should be able to find a way to construct a smart contract to do that too.
12488  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Decentralize on: June 08, 2019, 03:49:49 AM
~
When you add it all up, you’ve really got to ask yourself just how much DEX is really behind some of the market DEXes.

it is the same as centralized altcoins. XRP, ETH, BCH, BSV, .... can call themselves "decentralized cryptocurrency" as much as they like but in the end they are centralized and no facts can change. Binance can also call its new platform "Decentralized" EXchange as much as they like but it is still centralized. they are just abusing the term and misleading which i personally consider to be a dishonest move and won't trust  a business that lies to its users like this!
12489  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin, Speculations and FOMO on: June 08, 2019, 03:35:25 AM
people always come up with weird reasons for both bitcoin rises and falls mostly because they can't explain the rise and falls so they stick to superstitions. in this cases it was FOMO, it was panic and all that but they  weren't the only reasons and not even the biggest ones.

for example in 2017 the biggest reason for the rise were the adoption! in case you have forgotten we had a couple of countries mass adopt bitcoin as a currency (aka a legal way of payment) by their government and at least one of them removed taxes on bitcoin payments. we also had the scaling wars that had lasted more than 3 years come to an end. in fact i am sometimes surprised why it didn't go up more than $20k!
12490  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin ,Gold and the global market collapse on: June 08, 2019, 03:15:30 AM
i have the same views, more or less. i believe that because bitcoin had never had any connections to any of the other markets including gold, stocks,... and instead have always been a stand alone market moving for itself, that means that it can be considered an excellent choice for diversification and in cases like a collapse an escape route for investors to take. which is why i believe that in case of an economic collapse bitcoin price can rise with a fast speed.

but also bitcoin is still unpredictable and small. so we can't really be sure about what will happen in the chaos in that scenario. not to mention that chaos itself creates a lot more unpredictability.
12491  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin: More of SoV or P2P Cash? on: June 08, 2019, 03:04:40 AM
there is absolutely no argument about what bitcoin is and what Satoshi created bitcoin to be. it is a currency as it has always been and as the bitcoin paper is calling it a "peer to peer digital cash". what different people treat bitcoin as is a different matter. usually because price is always rising people tend to see bitcoin as an investment rather than a currency which is why they have invented the store of value concept and have been advertising it ever since the last big rise and high fees of 2017ish.
12492  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: i been hacked ? on: June 08, 2019, 02:53:05 AM
very famliar /btc.com woe i see my address wallet there too wonder if i have or setup a account with them lost my userid and password maybe my coins are there if i had account there can they auto send there if i set that up?

your "address" is on the "blockchain" (blockchain means the  chain of blocks that nodes store not the site called blockchain.com) so everyone who has a node and has the blockchain sees your address (or more precisely all the transactions), this includes block explorers. you don't have to be surprised or open an account on any site that shows you your address.
12493  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Will the LN's Atomic Swaps eliminate the need for centralized exchanges? on: June 08, 2019, 02:47:15 AM
maybe some day but not anytime soon.
in my opinion LN and atomic swaps not being ready and mass adopted is only part of the problem. the other part is that people aren't ready to give up the ways that they are used to so they keep using centralized exchanges even though they are horrible and keep scamming their users.
not to mention that for trading bitcoin, usually fiat is involved so i don't see how you could decentralized that.
12494  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin Market Analysis (Price Action). on: June 07, 2019, 08:30:15 AM
Bitcoin has already surpassed 8k resistance point again and it looks like we will see another reversal trend from the bearish to the bullish.
I just try to put 8.9k as the next resistance point to the bullish trend of bitcoin.

Good news is needed to make bitcoin can break 9k rate in the future.

bitcoin has not been bearish ever since price went above $4000 although may users insist on staying bearish themselves and go against the tide. other than that we are only seeing a very simply correction here which has nothing to do with being bearish.
as for $9k, i don't think we need any kind of news at all. we are headed that way and it will be broken with time.
12495  Economy / Speculation / Re: Has the dip passed? on: June 07, 2019, 08:20:21 AM
well first of all it was not a dip, it was a correction followed by a crash that lasted over a year creating a very long bear market. "a dip" is what are having right now meaning after going from $6k to $8k now price has come down to $7.5k.

has the bear market ended? yes, ever since price reversed from the bottom at $3k, the bear market had come to an end.
12496  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Understanding Cryptocurrencies: Game of Thrones Edition on: June 07, 2019, 04:25:30 AM
this is a fun topic but it is a horrible comparison between these characters and these coins. for example the worst one in my opinion is Ripple. Jaime Lannister was not a bad character, he was just misunderstood so was disliked. Ripple is a centralized shitcoin that has always tried to hide their centralization and the 100% premine while doing pump and dumps.

as for BCash and BSV i'd say they are more like Petyr Baelish specifically because of the fact that they are feeding off the chaos.
"Chaos isn't a pit. Chaos is a ladder. Many who try to climb it fail and never get to try again. The fall breaks them. And some, are given a chance to climb."
12497  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Anyway to block usage of stolen coins? on: June 07, 2019, 04:18:41 AM
I am really curious what exchanges have a withdraw throttle from out of the ordinary amounts of withdraws or even exchanging alts in a short time span. I bet none and it is like the easiest fix.

If users withdraw = 1.5x or 1.25x normal volume stop all withdraws.
Will give them time to take a quick manual look at what is going on.

At least the hackers can`t steal massive amounts in seconds from many different accounts.

that is true if the hacker was actually withdrawing anything but they are not. they are "hacking" their system which means they have access to their wallets and the underlying system, for example have access to their wallets and private keys.
not to mention that most of these exchange "hack" cases weren't really a hack but an inside job or the exchanges scamming their users.

hmm yah you right but I am sure there is hacks where they use a bunch of logins leaked and withdraw mass amounts of accounts at the same time though, fuck exchanges anyways lol, p2p or your like giving another man your banana to hold on to.

well that depends on the exchange security. simply not letting larger size withdrawals is like the first thing an exchange should do in their security implementations. but not all of them are actually secure, like the small exchanges with so little volume and users which weren't the ones i was talking about. but if we also include them, then it is possible if their system has such obvious holes in it.

12499  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Decentralize on: June 07, 2019, 03:10:46 AM
the same reason why we prefer decentralized bitcoin as money instead of centralized fiat as money! it is because of all the problems that the centralized sector has, all the restrictions, the corruption,... and to understand why we need one instead of the other you need to first have used that other one to encounter these problems. for example in case of exchanges you have to use centralized exchanges, get hacked, get scammed by the exchange, have your account closed for no reason, have to jump through hoops for the exchange, have to give them your personal documentation and have it sold on dark market,... before you can see how problematic they are and seek out a solution in an alternative.
12500  Economy / Speculation / Re: Little dip in bitcoin market, will it be recovered reach 10k on: June 06, 2019, 04:26:58 AM
You know how the markets work exactly they basically do the exact opposite of what most people expect.

So now we are in the same boat. Everybody expect it to break $10K, and most likely it might come close $9800 and reverse like last year.

or maybe it already did at $9100. Smiley

i've been looking through lots of analysis and the consensus seems bearish. lots of traders plan to rebuy at $6k so i assume the market will either 1. front run them and we won't even go below $7k, or 2. crash right through $6k just as easily as it broke on the way up.

the problem with the "analysis" you read online is that in 90% of the time it is not what traders really think. for example when price was in $3k range and an accumulation was obviously going on, most of these analysis were talking about bigger falls and every one of them were waiting to re-buy at $1800 and low prices like that.
in other words you can't really rely on their nonsense.
