12481  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How much can you earn with gambling? on: January 11, 2016, 02:11:33 PM
today I did not get anything, I usually always get 2-3 $ with a great effort, but this time, I lost some bitcoin I have in the wallet  Sad

Sorry for you loss mate, but on the other hand as I can see you didn't lost everything in your wallet, just a part of and I assume a small part. So you are lucky not to be a gambling addict who can't stop before he loses everything.

And playing like this you are having $2-3 profit most of the time. Good job btw.
12482  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling. Is It Wrong? on: January 11, 2016, 01:48:41 PM
Life is adventure,
Life also full of gamble and ofcourse our life is getting more challenging when we can gamble for something we wanted.
Just gamble with full aware of risk or gamble for fun

I agree with this. Addiction is a sickness and stating that gambling is wrong just because it ruins the lives of the gambling addicts is like stating that eating is wrong because we can see how bad the life is for the overweight eating addicts.

Gamble with ease, don't get addicted to it, don't expect to make money with it, rather expect losing part of them and you'll be fine.
12483  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 2016 Could Be Bitcoin's Best Year Yet on: January 10, 2016, 08:07:29 PM
this is something i keep hearing year on year.

2012 - this will be the best year!
2013 - this will be the best year, no doubt about that.
2014 - this time 100% the best year, great adoption and such....
2015 - very much investors and adopters will make bitcoin reach new highs.....
2016 - do i need to say more?

You are right similar things happen in the beginng of each year (and not only with Bitcoin btw) but something is telling me that this year really will be Bitcoin's Best Year Yet. ) Why not? Let's hope for the best.

For starters we have a good start: $450 insteed of $200 in January 2015.

12485  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Ever dreamed about Bitcoin? on: January 10, 2016, 03:12:14 PM
I've dreamed about Bitcoin only once. It was in November 2013 when Bitcoin was around $300. In the dream I had a strange feeling that real price of Bitcoin is $1000 and when I woke up I told my wife that I'm sure that Bitocin will be $1k in the future. I thought that will happen in 10 years or so though. Then, 3 weeks later Bitcoin hits almost $1200 and I'm like "Wow! That was fast!" We all know what happened next. Smiley
12486  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: In Gambling, Money is not everything on: January 10, 2016, 11:45:40 AM
Gambling without real money is boring and meaningless IMO. I'm not saying you should earn money with gambling, no, but even to just have fun with it you need real money to be involved. But before starting to gamble with your money you should think twice whether anybody around needs something you can buy with that money.
12487  Economy / Speculation / Re: How many bitcoins do I need to retire in 20 years? on: January 10, 2016, 11:23:39 AM
Who know what will be in 20 years maybe 1btc will worth 100k

I agree. That's why it's better to have at least 5 or 10 BTC than nothing and maybe that would be enough to retire nicely in 20 years.

My prediction is 10k though, so you'll need around 100 BTC. )
12488  Economy / Economics / Re: $700 million lottery jackpot straight to BTC on: January 10, 2016, 10:31:43 AM
1,3 billion! Shocked
the powerball jackpot next wednesday is $1.300.000.000
let's continue the discussion with this jackpot size.

Looks like this is like  true, but nevertheless it's hard to believe. I mean, seriously, 1.3 billion dollars??? Did anyone has ever won hundreds of millions yet? And if yes, how much they really receive? What about taxes? Idk the whole thing looks crazy to me.

And, YES, if the winner decides to buy BTC with that amount of dollars the price might go up 60-80% or even more for some time for sure.
12489  Economy / Economics / Re: $700 million lottery jackpot straight to BTC on: January 09, 2016, 05:47:56 PM
Back to OP's question: since there are around 6 billion dollar's worth of Bitcoin in the world now the dumping of $700 million into the BTC exchange would definitely impact the price but not much, maybe 20-25% which is a normal thing for Bitcoin even when there are no apparent reasons for that. )
Hell no it doesn't works that way ,the 6 billion dollar market is for all the bitcoins at present and not for the selling orders. If someone actually dumps that much mount of coins the price would be round 30% of what it is today.Satoshi did the same thing and we have seen the effects.

As I said, "20-25%", it is almost 30% right? And considering the fact that the price of Bitcoin sometimes goes up and down 30% or even more without any reasons that would be no big deal.
12490  Economy / Economics / Re: Why You Should Never Sell Your Bitcoins Ever on: January 09, 2016, 05:35:03 PM
I don't think it's a bad thing when people cashout, they could be doing this for several reasons. For one, they probably made enough profits to cashout and are able to buy back soon and enjoy those profits. This is how the bitcoin market moves though, with pumps and dumps. If every bitcoin user would be holding, the market would stand still.

holding is easier said than done. a lot people here can't hold their coins unmoved in their wallet for even 2 months. they get bored or can't stand seeing the price go up or down. if they see the price go down a lot, they will sell to reduce further losses. and if the price goes up 5-10%, then they can't deal with the fact that they made profit, and thus they sell to secure a small profit.

Fair enough, but on the other hand why give in to panic and start selling your coins when the price goes down a lot? If you have some trust in Bitcoin you know that after a lot of down will be a lot of up, so you should just wait a bit. Never panic guys, there are no objective reasons for the price of Bitcoin to go down a lot.
12491  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling. Is It Wrong? on: January 08, 2016, 02:23:19 PM
Yes gambling is wrong if you are addicted.
For me is not that wrong if you are doing for entertainment and to earn money.

That's the thing with it, as long as you think you can earn money with gambling you are most likely addicted. Never consider gambling as a way to earn money or you will lose everything you have and even everything you'd borrowed.
12492  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is this real? 50 'clean' Bitcoins for 80 'dirty' Bitcoins?? on: January 08, 2016, 12:24:36 PM
I came across some site which is like a bitcoin washing site but peer to peer, the site itself acts like an escrow and allows people to trade apparently 'dirty' bitcoins(maybe from hacked wallets im thinking or stolen, scammed etc) for 'clean' bitcoins. Now i don't know if it's legit the whole idea of it. I always thought bitcoins were anonymous either way why would someone even do that and lose 30 coins?

Although I'm quite new to this stuff so if anyone knows more about this stuff I'd be happy to hear your opinions/experiences on this.

Although apparently there are some people who would need a service like this, still they are asking too much IMO.

I used to think some time ago that there is no difference between so called "clean" and "dirty" Bitcoins but I was wrong:

12493  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling can be profitable in the long run! It is possible! on: January 08, 2016, 11:22:50 AM
I like the scheme made by OP. It is quite accurate ... well, statistically. But for everyone of us it is irrelevant whether we have 90% or 10% chance of winning. What matters is whether we actually win or lose. So gambling can be profitable in the long run as much as it can't.
12494  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Daniel Mross paid 2700 BTC to ButterflyLabs in 2012 for 25 Gh/s on: January 08, 2016, 11:01:13 AM
There's the 10,000 BTC pizza. And a few old timers in these forums have mined 50 BTC blocks a few times per day on CPUs. There's that Swedish? guy who mined 5000 BTC and bought an apartment a few years later.

And there's that guy who threw away his hard drive with a few thousand BTC in it.

I think this is basically what happened to most people's money back then:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-DT7bX-B1Mg

If I remember well, the Swedish guy bought 18€ worth of Bitcoin in Swedish Crown and then bought a flat in the rich district of Stockholm.

I think that guy is from Norway.

Yes, the guy is from Norway. He invested 150 kroner ($26.60) in 5,000 bitcoins in 2009, sold them in 2013 for $886,000 and bought an apartment in a wealthy area of Oslo.

Here's the article about it:

12495  Economy / Economics / Re: $700 million lottery jackpot straight to BTC on: January 08, 2016, 10:43:59 AM
With the US Powerball jackpot now at $700 million, I'm curious about a scenario where a single winner dumps the entire lump sum into the BTC exchange and locks it up for years.
What would the effect on the market be immediately after and for the next few years? What would happen to the market in the future if they decide to cash out as the richest person who ever lived?

whit 700M, you don't need to do this, just relax and enjoy your life in a beach whit hot girls  Cool

Although I think that enjoying your life with one hot girl is better than doing it with girls , I like this reply the most.

Back to OP's question: since there are around 6 billion dollar's worth of Bitcoin in the world now the dumping of $700 million into the BTC exchange would definitely impact the price but not much, maybe 20-25% which is a normal thing for Bitcoin even when there are no apparent reasons for that. )
12496  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is there a market for "fresh" coins? on: January 07, 2016, 04:50:22 PM
Im not quite sure why anyone would actuall want a newly mined coin over one thats been round the block a few times, The whole tainted coins thing should be irrelevent in that just because your coin has been used possibly for something illegal in the past should be of no concern to the current holder.

I dont think ive ever even looked back though any of my addresses to see how new any of my coins are because i really dont care, i guess for some this may be a big thing though.  who knows.

Same here. Why should we care whether the coins "new and clean" or "old and dirty"? They are all just like any other money ffs, we can't know about their hystory and we should bother either IMO.

People care, because you never know when you can be in such situation like this one: https://www.reddit.com/r/Bitcoin/comments/3mea6b/bitpay_is_blacklisting_certain_bitcoins_rejecting

Wow! thanks for the links. Somehow I didn't know about this stuff happening. Blockchain analysis is real business now as they say. I should read more about this stuff.
12497  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Any advantages from gambling? on: January 07, 2016, 01:24:02 PM
No gambling = 80% less signature campaigns = less forum traffic and less usage of Bitcoin.
I can understand the signatures are bringing a lot of traffic to forum and particularly from gambling but how does that affects the usage of bitcoin ?
People also leave when they are not interested no matter what gambling/earning opportunity they are given

Signature campaigns draw many people to this forum who wouldn't otherwise be here. More people here = more people are interested in Bitcoin. More people are interested in Bitcoin = more people are using Bitcoin.

I know there are some highly regarded members of this community who are against Signature campaigns, but I disagree with them on this point. I think Signature campaigns are good for Bitcoin in general.
12498  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Biggest/Best Gambling Session on: January 07, 2016, 10:14:05 AM
Went from 0.19BTC to 84BTC. Still waiting on the withdraw confirmation, and still can't believe it actually happened Grin

Just want my money  Undecided

did you type wrong??? 0.19 to 84btc?Huh not 0.84??? 84btc is a lot a lot!!!!!

Yea that's not a typo. I might be one of the luckiest people with roulette.

The next lucky people would be the ones that win millions from instant tickets and powerballs lol

Wow! That's incredible! Congrats mate!

I'm wondering what were the odds and did you withdraw finally? It is also interesting how much you've lost before that. What is your real profit?
12499  Economy / Economics / Re: Why You Should Never Sell Your Bitcoins Ever on: January 06, 2016, 07:50:13 PM
I still hold my bitcoin in the wallet, there are about 2 ~ BTC, I've held almost one month of december last year,
I can not trade them now, I am waiting pump of halving effect

You are absolutely right, hold them, don't sell them. Although I think Bitcoin will not pump a lot due to halving, but I'm sure it will be over $500 by summer so selling now is not a good decision.
