What a bad idea to allow the name change. I can't even imagine all the scams and the hoaxes that will pop around in the minute...
No. Even if changing the display name gets allowed, display name != username. If you take a closer look at the posts in the beta, you will notice that left is the username (with a bigger font) and on the right is the display name (smaller).
12502  Other / Meta / Re: Threat of ban! on: April 20, 2016, 06:41:05 AM
In that case that you were breaking the rules, you should be grateful. Usually, the ban itself is the warning.

The evidence is visible to everyone.
Do I look Italian to you? Unless someone translates this so called 'evidence' there is nothing that I nor anyone who does not speak Italian can do.
12503  Other / Meta / Re: Green hover color for bitcointalk.org links on: April 20, 2016, 06:38:37 AM
It doesn't work for the beta forum's link.
It is not supposed to work for the beta. Bitcointalk != bitcointalk beta.

Does this apply to PMs as well?
It would be normal to assume that it does. Just test it out.
12504  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Will I stay or Will I leave - Poll on: April 20, 2016, 05:49:38 AM
We don't see many article/news/discussion about bitcoin classic and classic nodes is slowly decreasing, so i think classic will dead soon.
Don't forget Bitcoin XT, unlimited and bitcore nodes still running Roll Eyes
The number of nodes (especially in a short time-frame) is a very unreliable metric of support. Classic 'supporters' have demonstrated this by letting a small group of people start a huge number of nodes.

Everyone wants that additional profits and that is the reason majority of us are holding our coins at a moment as we can expect higher price at the time of halving.
Time to stop being greedy.

Im neither for core or for classic i am for bitcoin...... so what ever works
One of those does not work.

There is no issue if there is no-one is supporting Classic. Thank god that pretty much no-one is (apart from one lonely Amazon AWS server lol).
Well one has to consider that this is a 'paid' Sybil attack and that quite a high percentage of those nodes are pruned. In any case, the intention behind it is not strengthening the network for sure.
12505  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Phishing for Bitcoin prompts Google Secuirty warning on: April 20, 2016, 05:37:58 AM
I would say that this is nothing special as I've seen this tool 'attack' a lot of different services. It sometimes even comes to the point where it is so annoying that I end up sending a few reports.
12506  Other / Meta / Re: Beta of new forum software now officially open on: April 20, 2016, 05:32:41 AM
All I hope is option to keep old forum layout or switch between old and new forum at will when this new one will go live. Because at first glance new layout is not that impressive imo.
I already said that the current theme won't be the final one and that there are probably going to be a few to change to. You can always request the change if that is not the case.

That's most likely what will happen, on a platform like transifex(which is used by Bitcoin Core as well).
Transifex was the first to come to mind as well.
12507  Other / Meta / Re: Beta of new forum software now officially open on: April 19, 2016, 09:14:44 PM
For Lauda : yes, that's what I mean. Profile becomes Profil in French or Perfil on Spanish. That could be an interesting feature I think.
I guess in the future, if theymos agrees, they can post the strings somewhere and let the community translate them.

Not sure why my comment was the only one to be deleted then.
Which one? Maybe your post is somewhat off-topic. PM me and let's see.
12508  Other / Meta / Re: Beta of new forum software now officially open on: April 19, 2016, 07:55:52 PM
No one say anything bad about the new forum.
I'm not sure whether you are being serious or trying to troll. This thread is full of things that are wrong with the forum.

So new functionalities are coming ?
They are already here, you just don't have the 'access level' to see some of them (e.g. moderator tools).

What about translations of the menus, the buttons etc. ?
What do you mean by this? Translate the forum interface into other languages?

Segregated Witness Pull Request by grandmasta sipa

https://github.com/bitcoin/bitcoin/pull/7910

It's happening.  Roadmap right on schedule.
I just came to this thread in order to post that but it seems that I'm too late (been a bit busy). The April deadline for Segwit has been met.

I think its been fairly obvious for a while now that core would win the battle.
It is obvious because unlike Classic, Core has real developers and engineers.
12510  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: when someone say blockhain technology do they mean blockhain bbiitcoin? on: April 19, 2016, 05:35:15 PM
so if they are only for blockhain it means bitcoin can go dead.?
Regardless of what they focus on, there is always a chance that Bitcoin will die.

one quick qustion can bblockhain be used without bitcoin?
Obviously. Pretty much all altcoins have their own blockchains.

two companies now using blockhain bank aswell and beta banks.
red hat, IBM
Depends. If they are using a centralized/distributed system, I'd disagree with that definition of a blockchain.

Anything you post on beta.bitcointalk.org outside of Beta discussion will be deleted in the final merge.
Good to know.

I just find the new forum look awful. The old one was unique.
The look doesn't matter that much, the functionality does. AFAIK there will be more themes/this one won't be default (?). I dislike the current one as well.

Is there a buglist being maintained somewhere? To check if I'm not reporting something that's already known.
I'm not sure whether there is one outside of Github.

3) Be a little patient and wait.
There's always this but in certain conditions time is of the essence.

OP since this appears to be solved, please consider locking this thread.
12515  Other / Meta / Re: Beta of new forum software now officially open on: April 19, 2016, 12:13:32 PM
The post count on the beta forum is wrong or not?!
The post count is currently 'bugged'. However, it isn't a big issue. It will be fixed.

Yeh it's that plus sign on the right bottom. That definitely needs to change IMO. Too many people confused by it (including me in beginning.) Just "traditional" reply button location seems much better.
I concur.
12516  Economy / Reputation / Re: Negative trust for invalid reason on: April 19, 2016, 11:17:15 AM
What can I do if he didn't reply my message
The only two things that you can usually do is:
1) Resolve the problem with the person who left you the rating.
2) Contact the person in Depth 1 who has added the person, that left you the rating, to their trust list.
12517  Other / Meta / Re: Beta of new forum software now officially open on: April 19, 2016, 10:40:55 AM
How do I remove my email from being visible? I can't seem to find the option...
This option is not available at the time. It will be added later.

@ lauda can you please help me i can not reset the password.
What exactly is the problem? I'll notify a developer.
12518  Other / New forum software / Re: New Forum Launch Date Challenge, just for fun on: April 19, 2016, 10:27:08 AM
I'll say 05.06.2017
Seems like you've missed your target: Beta of new forum software now officially open.
12519  Other / Meta / Re: Beta of new forum software now officially open on: April 19, 2016, 10:24:42 AM
The lower part of the page (or what do you called that section of a web) seems not loading. Im using the latest version of Firefox. Also can't load it using my native stock browser for Android. Or maybe that part isn't available at the moment?
-snip-
Those links haven't been added/relevant features haven't been implemented yet.
12520  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: My first confirmation is taking way to Effing long!!! on: April 19, 2016, 09:58:02 AM
My mempool is at ~1.2 GB and showing 40k unconfirmed transactions. However, keep in mind that most of this is spam:

As long as your fee is adequate you will be fine. Delay will only occur when there is unusual block timing.
