12501  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Hacked BitcoinTalk Data Finally Surfaces On Dark Net on: September 06, 2016, 05:30:58 AM
I change my password every other week, so in theory a hack would not affect me, if my data were compromised. What benefit will these people have from hacking these accounts? We would just show the proof that we own the account and then get it back and change the password again. ^hmmm^

12502  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How many of you Will like to invest in any African bitcoin startup on: September 06, 2016, 05:22:02 AM
The question is too open, because people would want to know the specifics of these projects. You should give more detailed information on what kind of projects this would be and who would be managing the money. Would you invest in something, if you do not even know where the money is going?

Yes, I would invest, if I see a proper project plan with goals and evidence that the money would go for the purpose that it was intended, not to someone's pockets. ^hmmm^
12503  Economy / Micro Earnings / Re: All about Moonbit.co.in on: September 05, 2016, 08:30:32 AM
I stopped using them, because they have become to Anal about Ad Blocking software and firewall and proxy use. I used to enjoy their site, but the firewall at work blocked some ads < about 1% > and the site started to deny my payouts. Yes I do realize that Ad's are paying for the payouts, but I still use other well known sites without problems. Our work allow for some "free" internet during certain hours, but they block some sites. < Porn / torrent sites etc. >

I lost loyalty points because of this, so I stopped using them. Their filters are just to strict in comparison to other sites. ^sad^
12504  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Best Gambling Site?! on: September 05, 2016, 08:00:28 AM
thank you for giving all of us the chance to present our signature

good luck

C'mon really, is this the reason why you posted in this thread? Your account should be locked for Sig spamming. ^hmmmm^ OP, are you looking for one site where you have a variety of different games or just a unique site, with a enjoyable new concept? For variety I will use https://bitcasino.io/ and for something unique I like to use https://www.bustabit.com/ These two sites will keep you busy for hours or until your money runs out.

I would gladly add my referral link, but it's not allowed. ^sniff^

12505  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Blockchain lecturers on: September 05, 2016, 07:37:43 AM
Andreas Antonopoulos is too self indulgent to be taken seriously as a real lecturer. He has no technical background in cryptography or distributed systems, just a former computing student who doesn't work in computing. Except when he got a job as CTO at blockchain.info, lol. He mostly speaks on internet chat-shows.

Not someone to be taken seriously, however good his comparisons/metaphors for explaining Bitcoin are.

Carlton you not serious about this right? Why do you need a technical expert to speak about the economical/social impact of Bitcoin? Andreas is the best man for the job, because he has the ability to comprehend the difference between coding Bitcoin and applying it in the real world. He has travelled the world, and he has spoken to thousands of people in this scene. I have to differ from you on this one, because I know of no better speaker than Andreas that would hit this out of the ball park.

If this was a technical seminar for programmers and developers, I would have agreed with you. ^hmmmm^

12506  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin stickers for cars on: September 05, 2016, 06:56:18 AM
I think it is a pretty good idea, but if one or two people do this nobody will notice. If on the other hand you see every second car with a Bitcoin sticker, you will feel like you are being left out and you will get curious. Where can we buy these stickers, or is this just an concept or an idea at this stage?

My sticker must read. "Bitcoin for freedom" ^smile^
12507  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Who are the richest Bitcoin users and how much do they own? on: September 05, 2016, 06:49:08 AM
Well, Ver is known to be one of the richest Bitcoin users and he seems to be doing fine.

True, the Winklevii claimed a couple years back to have acquired 1% of all Bitcoins if I remember correctly.
Pretty awesome.

I doubt if Roger Ver have any Bitcoins at all, because lately he has been very outspoken against Bitcoin. He is busy pumping Monero now, and once he is finished with that, he will be jumping to the next thing. The pseudo anonymous nature of Bitcoin gives everyone the peace of mind that their financial status would be protected from the thieves of this world.

In some instances the governments are part of these thieves, so it protects you from them too. ^smile^
12508  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: $209 mil in ransomware payments first 3 months of 2016 (vs. $24 mil all of 2015) on: September 05, 2016, 06:35:48 AM
If this is such a huge problem, why are we not seeing law enforcement coming down hard on these so-called hackers? It is not that hard to track these transactions, when you subpoena companies to release the information. This includes the mixer services that are used to hide the tx history.

How much of this information provided here are real, is the other question. ^hmmmm^
12509  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What will you do when the BTC liquidation pools dry up? on: September 05, 2016, 06:29:01 AM
bitcointalk is in serious need of a new board called "bullshit" or to be more polite you can call it "conspiracy theories" and i am sure Sir Alpha_goy and kuawkduck will be the top posters in these boards.

We call them shills around here, and we just add them to the ignore list, because they add no value to discussions on
this forum. Their main goal is to spread misinformation about Bitcoin in an attempt to sabotage the project. So if I were you, I would just ignore their statements and add them to your ignore list. ^smile^
12510  Other / Off-topic / Re: Bitcoin is luckiest for all of us? on: August 31, 2016, 06:12:29 AM
I do not believe in luck, for me it is destiny. I have been looking for a alternative payment option for many years, and Bitcoin opened up a new world for me. I hated Credit card companies and PayPal and remittance services like MoneyGram and WU, because they exploited people.

Bitcoin gave some power back to the poorest people in the world. ^smile^
12511  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Explain this transaction on: August 31, 2016, 06:00:30 AM

Back in 2015 on November 5, someone (or some group of people) with access to 19 transaction outputs valued at a total of 52495.00095555 BTC decided that they wanted to store 50000 BTC of that value with a single bitcoin address.

...

Then earlier this month on August 4 they created a new transaction (txid: 28bc5e359c32f51b9a977621d1ccc5861529a833179b27afb4152230b2ea4ad6 ) spending that 50000 BTC output.  For some reason, they decided that they no longer wanted to store the entire 50000 BTC in the one output.  Perhaps that 1 output is a cold storage, and they wanted to move a portion of the cold storage to something more accessible?  In the end it is impossible to know unless they tell us.  It's their money and they can do with it whatever they want.

...

So, today they created a new 38000 BTC output back into that same address, paying a 0.0008 transaction fee, and spreading the remaining 5999.9992 BTC equally across 18 other addresses with an equal 333.33328889 BTC sent to each of the 18 addresses (actually one of the 18 addresses only received 333.33328887 BTC).

Perhaps this is all bitcoin owned by a single organization that is run by 18 people?  Maybe those people are now receiving regular payments of approximately 333.333 BTC from the organization?

Hi Danny, I really appreciate your very good answer but.. how did you know all this?

I wonder, maybe they want to have a wallet that is clean of transactions, where the amount stored is always exact.
However, I have no absolute idea what is the reason.

I think he just thumb sucked a possible scenario from looking at the transaction history. He built a story around it. People move coins in and out of cold storage for many different reasons. I like to store smaller groups of coins together, to prevent me from diving back into cold storage coins, every time I need to buy something.

There is always a degree of risk associated with this movement, so I would rather do it less often. ^smile^
12512  Economy / Speculation / Re: Why price of Bitcoin too stable? on: August 31, 2016, 05:50:30 AM
The merchants just loves this, because they do not need to play the volatility game. At this moment there have not been a significant event pushing the price up or down, and we need some stability to show the world that it can be used as a currency, as it's distribution becomes more stable. ^smile^
12513  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: MOVIE LOVERS: Now you can watch your favourite movie with BITCOIN on: August 31, 2016, 05:44:13 AM
I am with franki on this one, Kodi is free and they have loads of content and to be honest these guys priced themselves out of contention to be a viable alternative to some of the paid options with good quality content. The other thing is, people download stuff from Torrent sites, if they want the latest stuff. ^hmmm^

This is why local video shops are closing down and selling their stock.
12514  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Exchanges , a "Free" alternative to mixers ? on: August 31, 2016, 05:31:37 AM
I would not throw the FREE label around, when it comes to exchanges. They have fees too, and sometimes these fees are much higher that Mixer services. Also, some exchanges are operated by incompetent people with poor security, as we have seen with many exchanges being hacked over the years.

How many Mixer services do you know, that have been hacked?
12515  Other / Off-topic / Re: What are you doing with Bitcoin? on: August 31, 2016, 05:25:02 AM
I am using about 20% of my coins and I hoard about 80%. When the price increase significantly, I would sell some to enable me to buy more, when the price drop. I also buy a few beers at the local Pub, when we have our meetups every week. If I see a bargain, I would Gyft it. ^smile^
12516  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Traditional Gambling or Online Gambling? What's yours? on: August 30, 2016, 06:47:18 AM
Give me online gambling every day, over the traditional Brick n mortar casinos. Before Bitcoin gambling, I had to travel long distances to play for a few hours. Now, I switch on the computer and I can sit their in my underpants if I wanted to and watch television, without the hassles of people trying to harass me for a seat at my favorite slot machine or any of the other games on offer.

It is just more relaxed and I can stop whenever I want to, I do not feel obliged to spend more, just because I had expenses getting there and I have to maximize my time. ^hmmmm^
12517  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How signature campaign actually works? on: August 30, 2016, 06:32:12 AM
It's a Symbiotic relationship between 3 entities in the Bitcoin community, namely :

1. Advertisers - Bitcoin Companies who needs to target a specific target market, in this case Bitcoin users.
2. Bitcoin forum - This creates content and loads of daily traffic for this forum. < Increases income for the forum >
3. Forum users - They receive income for their inputs and their contributions and this stimulates Bitcoin adoption and use.

If this is managed correctly, it boosts the whole Bitcoin ecosystem and Bitcoin will grow bigger and better. If people misuse this opportunity, it becomes a mess. ^hmmmm^
12518  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The need for a Bitcoin Media Group on: August 30, 2016, 06:11:50 AM
The voting system can be manipulated by a group of shills, and that would sabotage any good news coming from this platform. I support your idea, because I support competition and unbiased reporting on different matters. Once these power house media outlets starts to dominate the scene, we might see some censorship, which will not be beneficial for the community. ^hmmmm^
12519  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: We need a strategy! on: August 30, 2016, 06:01:29 AM
Last time I looked, all decision making are done through consensus, not some Dictatorship. No changes will be accepted, if the majority do not support it. People make so many false claims against the Chinese, it's not even funny anymore. A while ago, people accused them of manipulating exchange volumes, because in their opinion it was too high. They forget that Chinese exchanges charge zero fees, and this makes trading a lot cheaper.

You gotta love those Rhino horn sniffers. ^smile^
12520  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Planning to Purchase Mining Hardware on: August 30, 2016, 05:52:30 AM
Guys and Gals stop being so hostile against newbies and also someone who has been burned by scams. He came here for advice and that is what we are suppose to give. Leave the posting in the wrong sections to the mods to deal with. OP, Why do you want to mine? Do you think it is still profitable?

Mining some Alt coins might still be profitable, but not Bitcoin. ^hmmmm^
