12521  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Hardware Wallet Hacked? on: May 25, 2019, 03:43:40 PM
The hack of Etherdelta from a few years ago was a good test for hardware wallets. I think it was back in 2017 when the DNS servers of the site were replaced and many users who logged in to the fake site got their ETH accounts emptied and tokens stolen. Even users using MetaMask reported that they got their accounts emptied. But those who logged in to the fake site with a hardware wallet were not affected because the hacker would still need physical access to the hardware devices!
12522  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Strategy to overcome losses .. on: May 25, 2019, 03:28:17 PM
I couldn’t agree more, the common mistakes gamblers do is they lose their calmness and as a result they tend to make bad decisions which will of course may result to a bad outcome. It’s good to take a break for a while for you to be able to think carefully and in that way you’ll be able to think of a better strategy.
What I don't understand is when people are trying to force a win. They lose a few times and then they get angry (with the world apparently) and make a bet where the probability to win is very low to none existing... usually it ends up with them losing that bet as well.

I have problems finding out if I got any replies too. Is there a way to know if someone quoted me without looking back to every post I made?

12524  Other / Meta / Re: Let's finally remove Locked and Self Mod topics from the Marketplace on: May 24, 2019, 05:24:02 PM
I see no problem in having self-moderated threads anywhere on the forum but I agree with OP that locked threads should be removed from the marketplace. If a thread is locked immediately after the thread is started those threads should be removed since it is a big red flag.

A question to those who report a lot: What happens when you report a closed thread in the marketplace? How is your report treated?
12525  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What do you prefer? Sportsbet or casino on: May 24, 2019, 05:09:05 PM
I prefer betting on sports rather than playing casino games. I bet for fun, mostly on the weekends and on matches based on available information such as player availability, motivation and other factors that could help me determine the outcome of a match.
12526  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: 0.24 btc stolen from electrum wallet on: May 24, 2019, 06:51:55 AM
@yurij25
It was explained to you in the past that bitcoin transactions can't be reversed and you keep suggesting how it is possible. Once a transaction is confirmed on the blockchain that is it. The only person that can send it back is the person in control of the private keys for that address.

It is not Electrum's fault that you installed a fake wallet. You were simply not careful and fell for the tricks of a scammer. It is sad but it happens. Learn from the mistake and accept the facts how they are in order to improve the safety of your funds.
12527  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: electrum wallet recovery with 12 words on: May 24, 2019, 06:43:35 AM
...but luckily i had a second back up with someone else who was away and unable to give me the seed until today.
I see two issues in storing your seed in this way.

1. The other party can always access your wallet and empty it of any coins.
2. A third party can steal the seed from the person you gave it to and do the same.

Although you might trust that person never to steal your money he might lose your seed, misplace it or simply have it stolen from him.
It is not a good idea to give another person THE ONLY copy of your seed words.
12528  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Italian League Prediction Thread (Serie A) on: May 24, 2019, 06:27:51 AM
Juventus will never hire Mourinho as he’s not the special one anymore, in today’s scenario he’s the general one who’s lost his Midas touch of winning trophies. Pochettino is also in the race as he’s looking for a fresh challenge, and I feel Juventus is the ideal club for him to build his credentials as a great manager. Sarri is being strongly tipped to take over Juventus head coach job, do you’ll feel he’s the right candidate for them?.

Reference: https://www.express.co.uk/sport/football/1131061/Juventus-Maurizio-Sarri-Mauricio-Pochettino-Chelsea-Tottenham-Massimiliano-Allegri
I think Sarri could be a really good choice. Napoli played some great football with Sarri. He was never able to win the title because of Juventus so he would be motivated to get some silverware in his career as well. He has the chance to win the Europe League now with Chelsea and after that I am sure he would be interested in some more.

The only problem I see is that Juventus doesn't generally look for a manager who plays beautiful football but one who wins. That is the only thing that matters and that is the philosophy of the club. That is why most of the mentioned coaches aren't really in accordance with that philosophy but maybe times will change soon!
12529  Other / Meta / Re: Shouldn't Theymos act on Bounty Managers Now on: May 23, 2019, 11:46:15 AM
Personally I think we should be tagging the shit managers, they are a bigger problem than the shitposters now
They are because they accept anyone who applies in an altcoin signature campaign!
Is there any screening process that these bounty managers do? Do any of the applicants get rejected? I am not asking the reputable managers managing BTC campaigns but the rest. It seems that anyone gets accepted as long as you have the needed rank.

Simply looking at the numbers you would understand that a manager of an alt campaign doesn't have much time to check the posts.
- They accept 300+ users, maybe even 1000s in their signature campaigns.
- Many campaigns also have social media campaigns. Not sure what the average is in those, but lets say 2000 users. X3 for facebook, twitter, instagram for example.

So lets say that a campaign has 300 participants in their signature campaign. Every user has to post 15 posts weekly. 300 users = 4.500 posts weekly.
2.000 social media participants in facebook, twitter and instagram campaign = 6.000 posts daily, 42.000 weekly.
Altogether that is 46.500 weekly posts that need to be checked by a human in terms of quality!
And that is just the work that needs to be handled for Sig and Social Media campaigns and there is much more.

To sum up, most bounty managers can't check and don't check what the participants in their campaigns post as there is no time for that.
We are in need of a particular set of guidelines and rules for Altcoin bounty managers if something is to change.
12530  Other / Meta / Re: [Merging of threads and Name Change If possible] on: May 23, 2019, 10:58:58 AM
Try to PM theymos or Cyrus directly including a link to this thread. They might or might not have seen your requests here.
12531  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Italian League Prediction Thread (Serie A) on: May 23, 2019, 10:53:26 AM
Juventus fans hate Mourinho and I doubt the Juve management would want to anger them. Besides, the quality of his work is not like in the days of Porto and Inter. He seems to create a lot of trouble and controversies and ends up getting sacked with a hefty sum of money being paid to him due to the termination of his contract.
I read yesterday that Guardiola's meeting with Paratici (of Juventus) has nothing to do with a potential move by Guardiola to Juve. They were talking about a charity match. At least that's what they say.
12532  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: My aunt's daughter Died and there is 13 btc in hardwear wallet on: May 23, 2019, 10:35:26 AM
First of all, Sorry for your Loss!

What you can try is to search through her PC looking for document types like .txt, .doc, .docx. The most common document extensions. If she saved her seed phrase anywhere on here pc it is likely that she did it in either Word or Notepad.

On Windows 10 you open 'My Computer'.
In the right upper corner you have a search field. Click on that.
Now click on 'Search Tools' which is now available in the menu.
In the 'Type' drop down menu select 'Document'.

The PC should now start a search looking for all known document extensions including .txt .doc etc.
Let it search and after it is done look through the results in search for anything that might look like a word list - those are the seed words.

After you are done with that, check if she has any USB sticks around and check her emails.
12533  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Electrum - 12 word key entered and can't click next on: May 23, 2019, 10:02:10 AM
Hello,

I have this same problem.

I have the seed written down and saved and have entered it many times but the next button remains greyed out.

I have restored this wallet before so i am sure this is the seed phrase! some of the words in my phrase are in that big master list, but others arent. It was Electrum that generated the seed, i am using version 3.3.6

Any help would be much appreciated.
Double check the words, the spelling has to be 100% correct and not a single word can be typed incorrectly.
If you used Electrum to create the seed make sure that you don't select BIP39 from the the options menu.
12534  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: STEP TO TAKE WHEN PAYMENT IS BEEN DELAYED BY AN ONLINE CASINO on: May 22, 2019, 09:28:09 AM
If it is a well known site they are not going to risk their reputation scamming a member just like that. But if you deposited money on a new or unknown site which is only there to scam people out of their money there is not much anyone can do to help you that hasn't already been suggested.

Manual withdrawals are a normal thing. A casino needs to check if your winnings are in accordance to their TOS and that you didn't use any illegal ways or methods to win, including multiple accounts etc.
12535  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: “risk-free”, “absolutely safe” and “guaranteed profit”, Latest scam!! on: May 22, 2019, 09:06:07 AM
no legitimate project would advertise their product as something that would guarantee profits.
Exactly! As an investor you need to make your own research and based on your knowledge and experience understand whether or not the project can become profitable sometimes in the future.
Projects that are advertised as 'absolutely safe' are just trying to take the focus off their faulty whitepapers and technical documentation and have the investors focus on the "guaranteed" profit they will make.
12536  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: how to earn money here on: May 22, 2019, 08:53:26 AM
Make sure that you understand first what Bitcoin is and what it does. Learn the proper ways to secure your Bitcoins and how to store them safely. Learn what a seed is and what private keys do. After you acquire some basic knowledge you can start thinking of ways you can help the Bitcointalk community and post some quality content.

Quality content results in merits which means higher ranks and the possible inclusion in a quality signature campaign. That is one of the ways to earn some bitcoins.

If you have some money to invest you can learn about trading and buy some bitcoins for long term holding.
12537  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Airdrops on: May 22, 2019, 08:46:11 AM
Tbh consider yourself lucky if you ever received anything close to worth $5. Like 99% of the time, you're going to get tokens worth next to nothing. In exchange for what? Your personal data. I don't see how that's worth it at all.
It is not worth it but for those who don't care about their data and only about those $5, or even less can do it if they want to.
I don't have much experience with airdrops from the last couple of years but I don't think all of them require KYC.
So in case they don't, the details you need to share are probably just your email, ETH address + a tweet or a like. For those from poor countries it can be an easy way to earn. But it is a big IF. IF all that which I mentioned before is fulfilled.
12538  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Airdrops on: May 21, 2019, 09:27:33 AM
Ok thanks a lot. I just found out about them so I already did everything else so I just added the ETH Address. So hopefully that works. And we’ll see.
I don't know where you are from but is $5 a lot of money where you live? If it is just pocket change for you it wouldn't make much sense taking part in Airdrops.

For two reasons.
1. For you to actually receive the airdrop the project has to go through a successful ICO and funding stage. - In many cases they fail, so you get nothing.
2. Even if you get a few tokens you have to wait for the project to list on a decent exchange, or sell it on dex like EtherDelta, well below their value. Even after they list usually a huge dump occurs so even if you get a few $ worth of tokens, their market value will drop 70-90% if you don't sell them in the first day of listing.

It is not really worth your time.
12539  Other / Meta / Re: Any managers lost good posters due recent mass ban? on: May 21, 2019, 08:53:54 AM
The question is, how come dudes with an outstanding reputation like them did plagiarism?
The posts they got banned for were probably written years ago at a time when the users were relatively inexperienced. The BT unofficial rules were written sometimes in 2014 and if I remember correctly there were cases where users got banned for posts in 2014/2015, Cellard is one of them i think.

Probably a combination of different things that led to the copy/pasting.
Not knowing the rules.
Administration didn't put so much emphasise on plagiarism back in the time because it wasn't as wide spread as it is today.
12540  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Italian League Prediction Thread (Serie A) on: May 21, 2019, 08:37:08 AM
Some reports that I read this morning claim that Maurizio Sarri is now the favourite to become the new Juventus manager. Apparently a reporter close to Sarri came out with this info. The same person was also the first to announce that Sarri would be appointed by Chelsea back in the day. Napoli played a Barcelona style type of football when he was the coach, can't really see Juventus doing the same but improvements need to be made.
