12543  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Dec 29 to Approx Jan 12th diff thread (4%) to (7%) on: January 02, 2015, 06:29:14 PM
I love you guys so much! and i want to make a gift to you:

Estimated Next Difficulty:    45,134,713,998 (+11.06%)

My estimation, that comes out of my ass, is +13%!

that would be an interesting number. I wonder if you may be correct.

We had a long run of good numbers.  Will be interesting to see if short term push, or if the new gear keeps pushing up each change for a bit.

One does not worry me, its if you get multiple in a row I get worried.
12544  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Dec 29 to Approx Jan 12th diff thread (4%) to (7%) on: January 02, 2015, 02:38:29 AM
Estimated Next Difficulty:    44,751,281,929 (+10.11%)
muahahahahahaaa Grin

something in me wants to see +20% diff and btc under 300$ Roll Eyes

The way bitcoinwisdom calculates the estimate is quite odd. It's almost always completely wrong within the first week. I think they are just taking the timing of the last 2016 blocks, which in this case includes the quick blocks achieved at the previous diff. And to be fair it's impossible to predict anything this early in the cycle.

I'd wait at least until about 1500 blocks remaining, then look at the 504-block average, that typically gives a better indication of where this might be going.

Either way it's safe to say its a positive not negative change.  Some numbers look not so great on change.  We will see hopefully not the 10+ percentage.

Hello i want to buy some hardware to mine bitcoin from newegg or amazon around 20 lb and

I want to buy this AntMiner S3 441Gh/s ASIC Bitcoin Miner for $284.00
http://www.amazon.com/AntMiner-S3-441Gh-Bitcoin-Miner/dp/B00LT97EKA/ref=pd_sim_pc_4?ie=UTF8&refRID=1HFK5G87SYD02PJD8X24

13.2 pounds that realy cost a lot

And this PSU

12547  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Shipping by sea on: January 01, 2015, 07:42:54 PM
Why do you want to ship it by sea? It's not because of the recent spate of air accidents is it? The chances of your miner going missing due to some aircraft malfunction is much, much lower than the chances of it being lost at sea. I've seen what happens to shipping containers when the seas are rough and it ain't pretty.

did you know that antminer will cost 280 $ and the cost of shipping 10 Kg will cost me 420$ and what you think if the shipping
cost more than one antminer

You will need to find the cheapest shipping option available (which may be by sea, as you said) and decide whether the savings are worth the money you will miss out on while waiting for the hardware to arrive. If one option earns you more money than the other, then go with that one. Also, perhaps you need to reevaluate your decision on buying the Antminer device. It may not be financially feasible for you to invest in, given the cost or time of shipping to your current location.
Just make sure you have your parcel covered and even if it gets lost you will get your refund, i don't see an problem here at all?

Problem is timeline.  A lot of sea/ocean you send in a container... it takes quite a long time depending on destination.  If it's a small sea... maybe not.  Across ocean... long time.

Again all depends where from and where to. Also shipping company chosen.  Most will take care of all this (UPS, FedEx, etc.) and you are not involved in logistics.
12548  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Too high transaction fees? on: January 01, 2015, 07:38:38 PM
Have you thought about keeping address and importing private key?

With faucets being so low you don't really want to pay a fee.   Without fee it's hard to tell how long to confirm.   If you can import private key that would save any fees.  Also treat the key as gold as it can control your BTC.
12549  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Miner won't connect to pool on: January 01, 2015, 07:35:02 PM
They are the S3 moddel. The seller said when he shipped them to me that both worked. I tried to connect the one that's not working directly to the Wi-Fi Extender with no luck. My setup right now is this: S3 and S3 => Network switch => Wi-Fi Extender => Wierless to Router.
Is this OK? Is it normal that i have connected it with Ethernett to the Wi-Fi extender and in the config it says that it now uses WAN instead of LAN? They have different IP's yes.
Thanks!
-cessnas

Cannot say if that setup is ok or not without seeing a lot more.   Lots of different settings with wi-fi extender.  Try both via wire to router and see if work at same time.  If they do work then look at wifi extender if not working look more at the devices.

Great Campaign I finished 12-30. Left on till 1/1.  I am now waiting on my amazing silver wallet Smiley. Hope to see you do it again some day!

Thanks for running a fun campaign!
12551  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Miner won't connect to pool on: January 01, 2015, 01:52:57 PM
Hello,
I have just purchased two Antminers from Ebay. I have them both connected up to the router via an Wi-Fi extender. I have one of them connected to a pool and mining. I'm using Slush's pool. But when i have done the exact same thing with the other one, it wont connect to the pool for some strange reason.
Thanks!
-cessnas

What model are they?  Have you contacted seller to make sure they have not had problems?

I would check networking make sure have a different IP set for each.   Also if you can try wired to just see what happens with getting rid of some things in between.
12552  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Is it still feasible to mine with graphics cards? on: January 01, 2015, 01:48:16 PM
Mining BTC with a GPU?  Maybe a couple years ago...

OP is talking about scrypt mining.

Actually, this is the time of Scrypt ASIC to take over the mining, but GPU mining can still be profitable if you choose your coins carefully.
For example newer algorithms like X11 use way less power than Scrypt mining. And if you're careful enough to choose a coin that will eventually be worth more in near future than it is today, you can make decent profits.

But choosing a coin is a gamble after all.

Even if you choose a good coin chances of paying for a GPU and electricity is very very slim.   For most the day's of GPU mining are long gone.  I enjoyed building the GPU machines but I parted mine out as the cards were worth more then what I was going to get mining. (It's been a while since i sold my GPU rigs).

I have done logistics before.  I can tell you BTC equipment is not something you but on a big cargo ship and wait for it to cross ocean if that is what your suggesting.

You will be working with air most likely (unless you can get to destination by land).  All depends where your shipping to and from.  Look in hardware and groupbuy to get miners.   It is more likely to to get gear there then places you listed.
12554  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: A quick question on: January 01, 2015, 01:17:55 AM
running the miner for a few hundred days

This is not very exact.   Best advice is have cheap electricity or find a place to host with cheap electricity.

Energy Efficiency at this point can be a important thing.   The more efficient per GH the longer you can run it.

Did a thread for this difficulty change.  Not trying to take it over just helping.  I expect phil to take over again after Smiley.  I know this is a busy time of year.

Only doing this for one week, to help out.   Creating a thread for this difficulty change.  I expect next week for philipma1957 to do it once again Smiley

Bitcoin Wisdom:

Bitcoin Difficulty:    40,640,955,017
Estimated Next Difficulty:    43,784,549,535 (+7.74%)
Adjust time:    After 1832 Blocks, About 11.9 days
Hashrate(?):    310,487,495 GH/s
Block Generation Time(?):
1 block: 9.4 minutes
3 blocks: 28.1 minutes
6 blocks: 56.2 minutes

Looks like were up for a few percentage change, as It gets closer we will see more accurately how much of a positive difficulty change.

Not a moderated thread.  Please keep anti-mining, people bashing, etc out of thread.

As always Happy Mining!

One day left -- then Hashra is supposed to be giving out refunds.  Wonder why they say only in fiat -- not bitcoin?

Will be interesting with this being a reseller not actually hashra.

Might as well turn in your letter for leaving as you do this.  Look at proper use clause on IT assets in company policy's.

Really only use you will ever have at this point is if you want to get a vanity address.   No use left as far as profitable options on GPU.
