1261  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2023/2024 on: August 11, 2023, 11:58:17 PM
No wonder last season there was a petition to get Haaland out of the EPL because this is definitely not something that other strikers can easily match lol.
What a pity petition  Grin Grin
I wonder how could they think about making this.
Well aside from that, we have known how Haaland performing. Although this is still the beginning of this season, I am still sure enough that his performance will be as good as the previous season, no wonder. Except he gets injured but I personally never think and never expect this.
Their first match looked easy enough for Man City and won 3 goals without reply. but unfortunately, bad things happened to de Bruyne, hopefully his condition is not bad.
It was a masterclass performance by Manchester City and especially Haaland. He has proved to be a good finisher. If you look at the two goals he scored in that game, you will see that he has very good positioning skills. He knows how to predict where the ball will come from and quickly places himself at such points. City is here again this season with the fire burning in their bones. Burnley also did their best in the attack but there was no communication among their striker.

Pep Guardiola has again proved that he has not lost his tactical acumen and Vincent Kompany should grasp that he is in the Premier League where he still needs to learn from the masters. Kevin De Bruyne's injury was one of the bad news of the game for City and they have to pray that it is not a serious one because players like him are difficult to replace.
1262  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Features that destabilised people in bitcoin on: August 11, 2023, 11:45:12 PM
■ procrastination
■ past failure
■ Discouragement
■ Distraction
■ comparison
These highlighted information are general problems people face in their quest to achieve success or get results in any field or endeavor.

Most people have lost the opportunity to get some profit from investing in Bitcoin because they are waiting for the price to get to an all-time low. They keep procrastination until it will become more expensive to buy. The problem is that even the fiat currency they are holding is losing value every day.

I have also seen friends that refused to buy bitcoin because they lost money in some altcoin or scam crypto project. So they allow their past failure to determine their current decision. Due to this failure, they have decided never to invest in cryptocurrency again.

Discouragement and distraction are caused by FUD. When people pay more attention to the media than credible information, they tend to lose focus and become discouraged because of FUD.
1263  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin as good store for value on: August 11, 2023, 11:28:39 PM
Maybe you are describing stable coin here and not Bitcoin, Bitcoin can sure lose value and Also gain value that's why it's a volatile coin, but unlike stable coin that remain pegged to the US dollar in value Bitcoin actually do rise which can give returns in investment to the holder this is the positive side of holding Bitcoin.

Bitcoin in my opinion is majorly seen as a form of investment than just a store if value because the intentions of majority of new holders is to make profit at the end of the day
Stablecoins are not generally a good store of value because they are pegged to a currency that losses value and also suffers from inflation. The name stablecoin doesn't mean that they are stable because no fiat currency has been stable over the years. Using a stablecoin as a store of value is the same thing as buying dollars and keeping it in your bank account. It will gradually lose its worth over time.

If you consider the average returns from Bitcoin over the last decade, it will be clear that it is a better store of value than most precious stones like gold. And it still has the potential of increasing in value in the future. It will be better to consider Bitcoin as a better store of value than the so-called stablecoins.

1265  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: El Salvador has become the first country to make #Bitcoin legal tender! 🇸🇻 on: August 09, 2023, 05:48:15 PM
Binance Becomes the First Fully Licensed Crypto Exchange in El Salvador

The exchange has been granted both a Bitcoin Services Provider license and the first non-provisional Digital Assets Services Provider license, allowing it to offer tailor-made products and services in the country.

Source link: https://www.binance.com/en/blog/ecosystem/binance-becomes-the-first-fully-licensed-crypto-exchange-in-el-salvador-348306456147004721

This Milestone has gained a lot of space in the global market which is a step forward since the El Salvador license was obtained. And has approval in 18 countries around the world.

I don't see the news as a good one. Middlemen focus on making profit and they can do anything legal or sometimes illegal to attain their goals. El Salvador doesn't need centralized exchanges to succeed. These intermediaries cannot be trusted because we have seen many of them fall due to the recklessness and mismanagement of their owners or management. I expect El Salvador to use Bitcoin traditionally. I don't know the tailor-made services Binance intends to introduce to the country. I am watching with keen attention.
1266  Other / Beginners & Help / Promoting P2P transactions through Bitcoin Community on: August 09, 2023, 08:24:02 AM
Bitcoin was designed for P2P transactions or P2P payments. The initial plan of the creator was to transfer funds without middlemen such as exchanges. Currently, there have been arguments by some users that exchanges have become an essential part of Bitcoin transactions because of their high liquidity. Some business owners have complained that they need to use exchanges because fiat is needed for them to restock their stores. So exchanges provide a fast means of changing their coins to fiat.

For Bitcoiners to avoid these exchanges and use Bitcoin as designed, building a strong Bitcoin community will be a good option. This community should include trustworthy members that can engage in P2P transactions at will. These communities should be open to members that are trustworthy and committed to promoting the privacy and decentralization of Bitcoin.

From my observation, three issues might arise, which are trust, liquidity, and privacy. Let me give my little view of how these challenges can be handled.

Trust: Trust between the two parties involved in this P2P transaction might be an issue. I know trustworthy people are scarce but this doesn't dispute the fact that there are people that can be trusted. Using trusted individuals as escrow might be a good option. These trusted members can serve as the link between members if there is any form of distrust among members. But members that trust each other don't need escrow.

Liquidity: As the members of the community keep growing its liquidity level will keep increasing. This suggestion might be complicated but it might not be a bad idea if the community has a fiat capital or fund that members can access if there is nobody wants to buy bitcoin at the particular time. Trustworthy Administrators or escrows can simply exchange members' Bitcoin with fiat from the community funds and their Bitcoin transferred to the community escrow wallet. But the amount is these funds shouldn't be too high because it can breed greed.

Privacy: Members do not need to know each other physically to run this community. Members in large communities like Bitcointalk can decide to form smaller communities. The reason is that it will be easy to identify trustworthy members if you are aware of their reputation. There are some members in this forum that I will be willing to join the community where they serve as sectors or administrators because they are trustworthy.

These are my thoughts, I might also be wrong.
1267  Economy / Economics / Re: No choice but to use the unavoidable middle man, the exchange companies. on: August 09, 2023, 06:56:12 AM
I feel like this isn't as bad as people make it out to be. First of all I could definitely do p2p if I want to, secondly the most important part is that you do not need exchanges when you are transacting with each other as well. Lets say that you are selling some apples, I pay you bitcoin and you give me apples and we go our separate ways, there was nobody in the middle. But if we are using fiat, in that case if we are doing credit card then there is tax and also banks that get a share, if we are using cash, we can still pay taxes, so in the end there is always a risk of someone else being in the middle, any credit card payment (which is almost all payments) go through banks, we rarely do not use banks, but with crypto we can at least not use middleman during transactions between each other.
After selling all the apples, how will the seller buy another apple? The apple producer might not accept cryptocurrency for payments. So the apple seller will have to exchange the crypto for fiat in exchange to make payments.

Some business owners will argue that using exchanges is convenient because it has high liquidity. Most of these businesses need to convert cryptocurrencies to fiat immediately to make purchases so exchanges will always be the best option. Middlemen can be reduced to a large extent if all parties in a transaction accept cryptocurrency. But we should also consider the risk associated with using them. My only advice is not to keep large sums in exchanges.
1268  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Is cryptos-miner.co a scam? on: August 09, 2023, 03:59:32 AM
Hello Everyone,

I found a website called cryptos-miner.co but I was doing a research on Google to see if it is legit or not but could not find much information but I found a review on Trustpilot and it has 4.9 stars out of 5 and the reviews were verified, does it make it legit? However on scam adviser it gives a low trust score one out of hundred and there are negative reviews where people are complaining they cannot withdraw money and the company asked them to pay more fees to process the withdrawal. Negative reviews might be done by scammers because they claimed they recovered the money through recovery agent.
Don't rely on reviews to check the legitimacy of any investment. Reviews can be selective and intentionally designed to promote any product. Anybody can write reviews and make them look factual. But you were lucky to get valid information from scam adviser and it should have been a warning sign.

Quote
Any thoughts or opinions?
Don't go back to the website again. It is a pure scam because I don't know any investment that can give that kind of profit in a few days. The strategy is to use $4000 as bait to push you to release the $500. They will keep increasing the fictitious funds and encourage you to bring more to withdraw. They will also be furnishing you with reasons why you couldn't withdraw.
1269  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: think before investing on: August 09, 2023, 03:21:01 AM
I became more interesting on this topic when my friend hard about the profit on trading and investing on bitcoins.without  the ideas or knowledge about it. because he only hard  that, there are high profit on investing on Bitcoin. without knowing how Bitcoin is been trade. he went and sold his property to invest on Bitcoin without been knowledgeable about it. he went ahead and invest but loss everything because he doesn't know how to trade Bitcoin.
Investing in any business without proper knowledge will ultimately lead to losses. I am suspecting that your friend was driven by greed so he invested in a Ponzi or scam scheme that claimed to be a Bitcoin investment scheme. The reason for my suspicion is that you said he lost all his money, meanwhile, Bitcoin prices have not dropped to zero. Many scam schemes promise huge gains and pretend to be Bitcoin investments all over cyberspace. So one needs to verify the genuineness of any scheme before investing.

Quote
He came and told me everything. i feel pity on him, and started teaching him how Bitcoin is been trade and invest. He was very serious to lean and now his happy and his doing very well. in every business or investment you are in backing on, I think you need to lean and be  knowledgeable about it before you invest on it.
Your advice is cool. The rule is to learn before investing. Don't be driven by greed or the desire to get rich quickly. The time spent on learning is not a waste because it will save you from avoidable losses. I am glad your friend has put his loss behind and is now willing to learn.
1270  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: can Bitcoin provide food for our table on: August 09, 2023, 02:56:49 AM
At first I want to use this medium to introduce myself, I'm a Smartgoat and I have being studying the futuristic of Bitcoin and finally I have developed a hundred percent love to Bitcoin.
You are welcome to the forum. I hope you have gone through the rules of the forum because this community has dos and don'ts. Breaking these rules attracts sanctions. Most of these rules are the pinned posts at the top of each board. Ignorance of these rules is not an excuse when you will face sanctions. I don't understand what you mean by the futuristic of Bitcoin. Do you mean that you are studying the future of Bitcoin. Can you help throw more light on how you are studying it?

Quote
I think with trading they will be a provision of food in our table, when we understand the rules and regulations of Bitcoin, I don't know if this my concept can make a provision of food through Bitcoin. But I'm well convinced that with this my views over Bitcoin investment and trading it will provide or sustain human, if profit are been made. I know that Bitcoin should not be dependent on, and we suppose to make Bitcoin our side hustle but with seriousness on Bitcoin investment and trading, we can achieve a success.
You seem to be mixing up things here. But like you rightly said, people are attracted to Bitcoin because it is a decentralized currency. It is also true that people can make a profit from trading and holding Bitcoin. But you should also note that trading requires some skills to be successful. You must understand how trading works before engaging in it. Bitcoin can also be profitable if you keep it and sell it after a long time. But there is no certainty that Bitcoin can provide for your daily needs because the market has some level of risk.
1271  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Imagine life if there was know bitcointalk like this forum on: August 08, 2023, 06:00:21 PM
Actually I can't help but wonder how crypto awareness would have spread if there was no forum like this, though I have not really gain anything financially from this forum yet but the level of crypto knowledge that has been impacting on me on a daily basis is actually helpful, I came to this forum with no idea about crypto and how it works but now I was able to read and learn from this forum and through the experience people in this forum I was able to learn many things, so I always see this forum as a place of learning as such the forum impact you the knowledge to navigate other ways that will help you earn a living through internet.
I also came to this forum with zero knowledge about the workings of Bitcoin. But today I will say that I have learned many things about Bitcoin. This forum is at the forefront of Bitcoin education but there are still other forums that also discuss Bitcoin. I agree that this forum has carved a niche in promoting Bitcoin education and awareness globally, but without the forum, bitcoin will still be the pacesetter of other cryptocurrencies because of its uniqueness.

And the good thing is that through the forum most people were able to earn some money through Campaigns, so tell me what platform would have been more better than this forum?

I no so many persons has other major sources of income aside from this forum while some persons depends on the forum to earn a living, so tell me if there was no forum like this how things would have been for you?, I love learning so I'm always here to learn so please share your knowledge and views.
I am benefiting financially from this forum but it is wrong to see it as a major source of income. Campaign earning should be seen as a privilege and not a secured source of income. There is a need to have a more reliable source of income. Several online platforms can pay more than the highest-paying campaign in this forum if you have the requisite skill or qualifications.
1272  Other / Off-topic / Re: Keeping your gambling habit a secret. on: August 08, 2023, 05:00:51 PM

But why continue in what you're not proud of by keeping it secret cause maybe you're worried about what people may say, how their thoughts about your person might change. Or how you might loose ties with someone you hold dear to. And many other reasons that follows.

Those that keep their gambling habit a secret is it that they're not proud of what they are doing?.
As you have rightly pointed out, some behaviors are not illegal or criminal but society has a negative view of them. In my country gambling is not illegal so I can't stop gaming. But I will always keep it secret because of the social stigma that gamblers suffer. Some people see gamers as jobless people that rely on gambling for survival. I know that this perception is wrong but to avoid bullies and unnecessary criticism, my gambling life will always be secret. But if anybody genuinely cares to know why I gamble, I will gladly give my reasons.

Immediately after Joe Biden became president of the US, the White House gave a directive that all staff that have used marijuana should resign or be demoted. Meanwhile, the president's closest confidant is struggling with drug addiction. Society's judgment is not always fair, hence we need to keep some behavior secret.
1273  Other / Meta / Re: Igebotz Nigerian Local Board Merit Source Application on: August 08, 2023, 04:08:38 PM
I will always support any application for merit source because it will lead to wider distribution of merits. I have seen from some threads that many merit sources have been inactive for some time, so new ones need to be positioned.

Igebotz sir, I am wowed by your sequential and well arrange application. I don't know how long it took you to come up with this write-up, but it is glaring that you backed your position with strong shreds of evidence that prove that you are capable of executing your task as a merit source effectively and efficiently. Your rank as the second most generous merit distributor in the local board when you are not a merit source is commendable.

I also read Charles' merit source application and I gave my support. My question now is, is it not possible to have more than two merit sources on a local board? This is because I am supporting both of you. If it is not possible, I guess Theymos will have to make a hard choice choosing between both of you.

The Legendary Igebotz, I wholeheartedly support your noble cause.
1274  Economy / Economics / Re: Real estate vs cryptocurrencies vs business on: August 08, 2023, 03:28:19 PM
1. Real estate -
My first choice will be to buy a house in the city center where I am sure of attracting tenants. House rent in my country keeps increasing so I am sure of a steady income from the house. I will also save money because I will definitely occupy one of my houses. With this income and savings, I can buy Bitcoin that will be kept for investment.

Quote
2. Cryptocurrencies
Buying cryptocurrency will be my second option after investing in real estate. But I will have to buy and hodl only bitcoin. I don't trust the sustainability of some altcoins, so to be on the safer side, bitcoin will be my only option.

Quote
3. Business -
It will be the last option because I am not very skillful in managing businesses. Business needs a lot of attention. Some people think that starting and running a business is easy but statistics have shown that the majority of businesses don't survive more than four years after establishment.

But diversification of income is the pathway of earning from different streams. If I have the opportunity and knowledge, I will prefer to engage in real estate, Bitcoin, and business. Diversification of investment also helps to share and reduce risk.
1275  Economy / Speculation / Re: Volatility and its effect on: August 08, 2023, 02:35:13 PM
The total quota of coins in the cryptocurrency is set at 21 million by design; when the circulating supply approaches this number, values are projected to increase. Source: www.c[Suspicious link removed]m
Bitcoin's maximum supply is 21 million. Some other cryptocurrencies have their hard cap, examples are Monero (XMR) and Dash with 18.9 million, and XRP and Tron (TRX) with a supply limit of 100 billion. Some other cryptos have unlimited supply limits.

Something like this is not happening for the first time, bitcoin is known to be a highly volatile cryptocurrency and what we have to consider most is the market supply and demand for bitcoin, the value of bitcoin if we are to consider that one as well isn't stable in recent days and the exchange rate is increasing more in value with BTC/USD, this is another good reason why holding bitcoin is more valuable than any form of currency because you will miss out any exchange rate opportunity than when you're holding fiat currency alone.
Bitcoin is the most stable cryptocurrency. Other cryptocurrencies are highly volatile because their prices can go very high in a few minutes and nosedive in another few minutes. But we hardly experience such with Bitcoin. Bitcoin is when more stable than some fiat currencies and even my country's currency is more volatile than Bitcoin. I can say that Bitcoin is quasi-volatile
1276  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: A clothing apparel store in my home city accepting BTC payments on: August 07, 2023, 11:41:50 AM
Slow progress is better than none at all.
Few businesses accept Bitcoin in my area. This is because of government policies and a lack of Bitcoin awareness. But as people begin to know the benefits of using Bitcoin, adoption will increase gradually.

That is a good development for Bitcoiners living in your home city. If they want to spend some of their coins, they may visit this store to exchange it for some goods they may need. Is there any discount on payment using BTC? I ask because some businesses usually add a discount on payment in BTC for a certain period of time after adopting the payment method, this is to encourage people to make payments in BTC. Nevertheless, this is a good move for all parties, including BTC, it is not news of a big adoption, but this small steps are important.
This is a good move towards Bitcoin awareness and adoption. The main reason for the invention of Bitcoin is for it to be used as a currency for the payment of goods and services and I am glad this business is accomplishing it. Having alternative means of payment can attract more clients, especially from the Bitcoin community to the business. But the owner of the business should consider payment directly to a decentralized wallet instead of using centralized exchanges.
1277  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Did Bitcoin Bring a Smile to Your Face? How Did You Make It Happen? on: August 07, 2023, 10:30:49 AM
I'm new to Bitcoin and the Bitcoin forum, but my curiosity is overflowing. I've come across numerous articles and blogs that share exciting testimonies of how Bitcoin has transformed lives, inspiring some individuals to even quit their jobs. It's heartwarming to imagine the joy on their faces. I'd love for all of us to share our happiest moments when Bitcoin brought a smile to our faces and the steps, we took to experience that happiness.
Looking at my wallet sometimes and seeing that the price of Bitcoin is appreciating puts a smile on my face. I usually visualize when Bitcoin will go to ATH and I will make some profit that will financially empower me to achieve my goals. It has not gotten to that time but the thought of such accomplishment gives me so much joy and some level of fulfillment. For me, my only step towards accomplishing my goal is to keep holding and not falling for the FUD.
1278  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023 on: August 07, 2023, 08:46:47 AM
With the way the super falcons are dominating the game, there's a possibility that the game might end in their favor because I don't really see what the Lionesses are playing. Nigeria has made five goal attempts and one on target while the English have nothing.
So far, Lauren James has been kept quiet by the midfield and defense, especially the midfield and I hope for it to remain that way because she is another tricky individual who doesn't take mistakes from the opponents lightly. A great finisher, it would be deadly to keep her on the loose.
The Nigerian national team coach Randy Waldrum seems to good tactician. It is quite obvious that Lauren James is the powerhouse of the English side, sihe had assigned Halimatu Ayinde, and Chiamaka Nnadozie to curtail her excesses. The Nigerian team has hit the crossbar twice and they are dangerous in the attack. I don't know how long the Nigerian team can keep up this positive momentum because the English team shouldn't be underrated. They can capitalize on any blunder to punish the Super Falcons. If the Nigerian team can get a goal first in this match, then they will have the deserved advantage. But for now, the Nigerian girls have exceeded the expectation of many people. I just told my friend that even if the Falcons finally lose this game, they have made an impact in this world cup.
1279  Economy / Economics / Re: Europe unemployment rate hits record low, employment record up on: August 07, 2023, 07:45:30 AM

Can't wait to see the usual Russian muppets trying to twist this as being bad!
Great news coming from Europe. When the UK left the EU there were different predictions of the adverse consequences it will have on the European economy, but it survived it. There were also predictions that the European economy will collapse because of the gas and oil crisis caused by the Russian invasion of Ukraine, but it has continued to grow stronger. There is also this rumor that the introduction of a common currency by BRICS will give a big blow to the Euro, we are still waiting for the new currency. The European economy has proved to be one of the strongest in the world.

Apart from fighting on the battlefield, there is always political, social, and economic war during conflicts. The European and the Russian propaganda machines are at work using various means to attack the economy of each other. We shouldn't also forget that NATO nations predicted that the Russian economy will not survive the economic sanctions for more than six months.
1280  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: MicroStrategy Turns Profitable with Bitcoin and Plans for More Growth on: August 07, 2023, 06:20:07 AM
It is great to see that MicroStrategy is now benefitting from their confidence in Bitcoin. When the market was bearish and there were different predictions of the crash in the price of bitcoin Michael Saylor, was busy buying and promoting the coin.Congratulations to the company and I and the future will still be profitable.

Is MicroStrategy success with Bitcoin a sign that more companies will invest in cryptocurrency?

There will always be copycat investors. Some companies specialize in copying the investment strategy or decisions of other companies. Sometimes they make a profit from replicating other companies' financial policies, while they might experience loss sometimes. So I think some companies will consider buying Bitcoin because of the profit of MicroStrategy.

MicroStrategy has made huge profit from bitcoin and been the most successful bitcoin investor in the market.

Microstrategy could have made profits from bitcoin investment and still have more opportunities to make more because it has made some decisions that could turn in favour of their own interests, yet you must not forget the fact that we shouldn't concluded that microstrategy is the most successful bitcoin investor, if you have a Link to ascertain this you can provide.
I think @Sim_card means that MicroStrategy is the company with the highest Bitcoin holdings. According to some reports they own about 129,699 BTC in their portfolio.
