1261  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Actn Scam or not?? on: January 20, 2024, 06:29:51 AM
Well seeing that the coin is still gaining and losing value i am guessing that after all these years we can conclude that this coin is not a scam however it seems pretty clear that it never really increased price its ATH was less than a dollar and it does not seem to be increasing any time soon

We need to be very wise and it's not all projects that we need to invest our money into

That is true diversity in portfolio could be helpful but biting in too much than you can chew could potentially put you at risk

I'm glad that you've researched and seen that the coin is still in existence, that means that we can not conclude it as a scam. That is a relief because I read where coingecko, published thousands of coins that where listed but don't exist anymore, going further to say that we have many failed and scam projects than the legit ones. But what is the gain if actioncoin, is sitting redundant in one position after all this years, if it's not making any impact in the market, then it's good as not existing.
1262  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Can we consider a project legitimate if it has been in existence for two years? on: January 19, 2024, 06:23:10 PM
Ponzi schemes will emerge like that, when the market starts to improve.
10% daily is already very large, but a Ponzi project that can survive for a long time must have new people and the system is not too greedy.
but if you feel you are still early, please come in, because I'm not too interested.

It's definitely a Ponzi scheme, they'll keep giving their investors the promised 10% reward and as they're doing this they're also gaining their trust to invite more people into the scheme, this exercise can last up to two years before they'll suddenly shut down overnight. You'd be surprised that people will greedily sale off all their assets, others will borrow and put everything in the Ponzi, when the owners of the scam project are certisfied that they've ammersed so much money that covers thousand times over of their payouts, then they'll shut down. I've seen this happen many times and in the end a lot of people will have bad tales about the Ponzi scam. If you must invest in a Ponzi which i don't advice, don't be greedy and enter with amount that you can afford to loose, and keep collecting their rewards till it crashes.
1263  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Holding fiat not the best against Inflation on: January 19, 2024, 05:16:27 PM
Of a truth, wetin you talk no be lie, holding fiat, naira to be precise na very bad mistake wey we as Nigerian dy make sometimes, it's already been proven that the best way to hold money  is to hold it in anything that appreciate in value overtime, something like Bitcoin, gold and land, even if you dy stubborn say you must hold fiat, make e no be naira, make e be dollars, because people wey been buy dollars at the rate of 750 naira last year, go still dy at a profit because dollars now na 1350 naira.
As naira dy so, 1 million naira now and 1million naira next year no go be the same, because inflation go reduce the value of that amount before then.

So as e be so, I dy advice anyone wey wan hold money, make him hold am in Bitcoin, gold or land, because na dem be the real deal

No be lie, naira don fall hand, as day de break na so e de lose value, if you get 100k for your account one year ago, and e still de there reach now, na im be say di value don reduce drastically but di amount still be100k, so dis fact go make us to understand say e no de favorable to de keep our money for naira again. For people wey sabi wetin de for crypto level na to make use of di knowledge wey we get and de buy and hodle Bitcoin for our none custodial wallets, and di value go just de appreciate as we de enter bull run. Gold and real estate na other better places to invest our money, but me na Bitcoin I de knowledgeable about, so na di best option for me to de keep my money. Knowledge is power.
1264  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: The Surge in Meme Coins on: January 19, 2024, 03:05:35 PM
The surge in meme coins does not mean anything if it is not reflected in the use, development, wallets and every structure of these currencies. Meme coins have increased a lot in terms of market capacity, but market capacity is not everything because it can be easily controlled by manipulating demand and exaggerated investment to promote increased supply.
Search github for the latest updates to Dogecoin, Shiba Inu, and SafeMoon wallets and services and you will realize that no development has occurred.

Bitcoin has opened the door for every crypto coins to thrive in the crypto market, as Bitcoin adoption is increasing investors sees it's reputation and profitability in bull season as a reason to invest in alternative coins, and most of them don't carry out any research before buying. So memecoins surge is expected because of the coming bull run, more people are coming into the crypto space, but they should be mindful that not all memecoins are worth putting money into, therefore they should learn how to use the golden word "research" before investing, because there are lots of scams to manipulate investors.
1265  Economy / Economics / Re: JP Morgan Chase fights 45 billion hack attempts a day. on: January 19, 2024, 01:47:51 PM
And they spend a good bit on on it too. 15 Billion a year on 62,000 "technologist"
It's always a cat and mouse game but damn..that's absolutely insane and relentless.

https://finance.yahoo.com/news/jpmorgan-chase-fights-off-45-211618309.html

Fiat doesn't feel safe, specially after reading that 😂

This is serious, spending billions to protect billions, I guess that their technologists will be happy about these hack attempts so their jobs gets valued and they get to keep it as long as cybercrime is still in existence. 15 billion budget a year to protect against hacks, I think that top hackers will even be happy to work for them and earn legitimately to protect the system against themselves.

It goes to show that scams and hacks are not immune to the banking system, because they'd love to label only crypto as the home to scams and hacks. Every financial transactions online can be a target of hacks and scams, either crypto or fiat.
1266  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling can be a hope restorer if we go about it wisely! on: January 19, 2024, 12:57:44 PM
It takes discipline to make wise financial decisions, without it, when unexpected money enters a person's hands, a lot of distractions will cloud the person's mind, like partying with friends, taking a vacation or wearing the latest fashionable outfit in the market. With good financial discipline the person can determine what is most important to him that is within the range of the money and spend the money wisely.

So the guy that won the huge bet definitely has financial discipline, that was why he was able to filter all the feel good distraction thoughts on how to squander the win and went for what was most important to him that was within the budget of the win. Another thing to avoid after a big win is to immediately be chasing after bigger wins, the person can lose everything in the process.
1267  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: What are the best indicators for following trend in cryptotrading? on: January 19, 2024, 11:37:09 AM
The "best" indicator is what you will get after trying several indicators. Without it, everyone can tell their experiences. These experiences may be real, they may be fraud, they may not suit you, or you may need capital and experience.
Without experimenting, everyone will give you their experiences, which may not suit you, but if you are a beginner, I say that the best indicator is the one that does not make you lose and gives you a profit of at least 1% every week or two.

Based on what I see in the thread so far, the experienced members are being economical in suggesting any specific indicators for OP to adapt, so like you said, let him try different indicators and make a choice for himself, because in the end his preferred choice that'll work for him can be different from what works for who he's getting advice from. So I support that he should experiment and let his experience guide him to make a choice, so he'll be responsible for the outcome of his choice.
1268  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Everything has changed on: January 19, 2024, 08:12:35 AM
I don't know whether what I'm feeling other people are feeling it or am just having this feeling based on the country where I'm located, or am feeling this way because of age and responsibility. Before now everything was easy for the rich , poor, and middle class, you can even be happy without having any money with you. But this time it seems different,  you can still have money but still their is is no inner joy. Now even the people around are not real and genuine but fake, can even betray for free. Is it that as the world is evolving people are changing too.

I would advice you to check on those things you are feeling, very closely. It may not be the case, but if what you are feeling persist through time and you feel could be worsening, I am afraid it could be the beginning of a depressive period to you.
It sounds as if you are realizing negative aspects about life which you had not found before and the fact you mention money is not longer an escape to the lack of joy seems to be a pretty good clue of an incoming depressive period of time in your life. Hopefully I am wrong, though.
If you can, you should talk about the things you are feeling with your family or friends whom you have trust in, it may help you to vent and feel a healthy state of mind, if that does not work as you thought it would, then the next step is to find more specialized help.

Take care.

From the time of creation we've always had the good the bad and the evil, so the only things that changes is civilization, in this age communication is easier because of advanced technology, but the human attributes mentioned are still there. So I guess the OP has been in the company of the good all along and is probably testing the category of the bad and evil in recent times, it can be a very painful experience. I sure hope that he now understands that as there are angels that there are also demons, so it is with humans, there have always been the good and kind hearted, also there has always been the wicked and evil minded, it didn't start today. Let him get used to it and try as much to avoid evil and toxic minded people, let him be strong and move on or talk about it with trusted family and friends.
1269  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Don't trust social media on: January 19, 2024, 06:58:32 AM
The phrase, Ignorance is bliss should be changed to ignorance is hell especially relating to finance, sad truth that there would still be individuals who would fall for this scam but I guess they would be totally ashamed after this, since they fail to realise that wallet is similar to their bank account and so how many of them would allow a total stranger to create a bank account for them or at least send their account balance to a stranger.

This scam is actually dangerous, since after sending a screenshot of the wallets to the scammer even if the person then understands that he/she is about to be scammed and end contact with the scammer, if the amount of coins in the wallet is enticing to the scammer, they scammer may find a way of Robbing such individual offline since its social media, getting details of such individual will be easier. The best is to totally avoid it.

Almost all the time we talk and teach about how people can avoid being scammed by these scammers and how they can lower their greed and get it in the back of their minds that there is no free money anywhere on the internet and crypto-currency investment can't just turn you wealthy over night.
Sad truth but the hype of getting the next Meme coins/tokens like Shiba Inu, Pepe, Baby doge and their likes has made alot broke rather rich if only they could avoid the hype from all these social media and invest in bitcoin.

if you go through the comments sections their are so many people who are so interested in this.

The people in the comments might also be part of the scam. In scams like this, the scammer usually play different roles, they have different accounts which are used to signify interest in the comments and also to post testimonies of how successful they have become because they trusted so and so platform or trader.
This is literally true and I don't think any scam in this category will succeed without having team of such doing this kind of background and that's why not all reviews especially on social media are to be trusted, we have to be really cautious of were we get reviews or financial advice.

This criminals always work in groups, they have there cronies in every areas to convince their victims that they're legit, so if the victims go to the comments section they'll see a lot of good remarks from other investors, not knowing that the commenters and the scammers are all working together. So trusting an unknown site on social media, because unknown persons are endorsing it on the same social media is a big mistake, we must treat every unverified links and sites in the social media space with carefulness and distrust, because scammers will consider every areas of suspicion and try to cover their tracks so the scam will look very legit. I don't think that media outlets can do much to curb these menace of scammers, so the only option left for individuals are to carry out research before engaging in any unknown social media transactions.
1270  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Dead Coins: Over 50% of Cryptocurrencies Have Failed on: January 19, 2024, 06:02:05 AM
These kind of news and statistical researches only confirm one of the biggest reason any newcomer would feel very insecure to get into alternative coins or even in Bitcoin or Ethereum.
There are simple too many scams and shady projects out there, being launched each day seeking for victims. The worst part is the fact much of the people who want to become investors of those alternative currencies do not know how to spot whether is fake or can be trusted. In the end, the results will be a very negative experience with the coin and passing the information to other people about cryptocurrencies as a whole are all scams, which is obviously false.

I would also point out that being a alternative coin investor is not something for people who do not have time to keep an eye on the price and the data of such coin, with alts one nevers knows when a massive dump will start leaving one holding the bags forever.

Before buying alternative currencies, I think it would be better just to get some Bitcoin or Ethereum, in the case of newbies. Thanks for sharing the article, by the way.

I've concluded that the crypto industry is a hub of scams and hacks, and this chart by the OP has proved that it's true, I believe that the reason must be because of weak requirements for developers, so every scammer can easily get their scam projects listed. And the victims are newbies into cryptocurrency investment, they'd hear a project on YouTube or telegram, they'd hear an enticing new project from someone, without knowing that they're supposed to carry out research first, they'll put their hard earned money in it and when they're eventually scammed, they'll label all cryptocurrency as scam.

Totally agreed that newbies should focus on buying Bitcoin and top altcoins like Ethereum, then when they're more knowledgeable about the market, they'll have more experience about investing in alternative coins, do their research to determine whether what they want to invest in is legit or shitcoin.
1271  Local / Politics and society (Naija) / Re: Who should be held responsible for the problems of the society on: January 18, 2024, 04:04:05 PM
For the national level na government we suppose hold responsible for anything wey no go well, because na dem de for power and na dem responsibility if currency devalue and di purchasing power de very low, na government suppose put measures in place to correct am, for electricity, good road, enabling environment for businesses, security and other national matters. If na for individuals level, na family we fit to blame if person no behave well, we go question di family background, like di story wey di OP narete, di mama of di girl get blame, because she de encourage her daughter to date yahoo boy because of money.

Poverty follow for wetin de make people to misbehave, if parents bring children up well, give dem good education and teach dem good morals, criminality go reduce. Also if government provide basic amenities, provide jobs and support businesses to grow, poverty go reduce including criminalities.
1272  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What do you think about filecoin? on: January 18, 2024, 03:03:17 PM
Ain't know much about this coin but AFAIK, this is a decentralized project, a decentralized file storage and sharing network which has a real utility that could be potentially used in the future.  As you can see, most crypto users now are trying to avoid centralized services that are related to crypto, it could be a decentralized sharing platform like this will boom next year and might be worth investing a little that you can afford.

I think this is worth a long-term investment and if you feel that, it's time to fill your bag while the price is very cheap.
It's sometimes good to do some research before putting your investment into a project but if you don't want to do this, go for the safest investment which is Bitcoin, there's no need to dig research because it's proven and tested.

I think File coin has good real life use case of practical application of data storage, which attracted me and I purchase that t few thousand File coins it in year-2022 when its price reached its bottom at around $3.5. Since then, It has demonstrated significant growth. I plan to continue holding it for the next anticipated potential bullish market which may lead to significant gains.

This Filecoin, thread was discussed in 2022, and it has been resurrected today, so I think that if it's still discussed today then it could still have relevance, although I've not researched it, but if it's price is still in dip, then it's ok for it's investors to still be hopeful of it to pump. Remember that Solana, dipped quite low and it's investors kept holding until late last year when it made a big comeback, so if a crypto is not a shitcoin, then it'll surely pump again despite how long it stays on the low.
1273  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Paying house rent with bitcoin is it appropriate? on: January 18, 2024, 02:13:58 PM
Glancing through the article https://cointelegraph.com/news/bitcoin-rent-agreement-argentina-landlord-tenant one would conclude adoption is striving in Argentina. Paying for a house with bitcoin sounds to me a mistake or lack of financial knowledge. Bitcoin is better than Fiat. Bitcoin increases in value and fiat faces inflation. Why then would one spend Bitcoin instead of fiat on a house rent which may expire in few years? Accommodating the Bitcoin can birth the person more money to pay his next house rent. But fiat wouldn't add any interest in the bank. Moreover the house owner will not hold the Bitcoin.

People buy houses, buy cars, book hotels, pay for flight, pay for cruise, pay tuition fees in Bitcoin. So why would paying house rent in Bitcoin be a financial mistake? Bitcoin is a medium of exchange and can do what fiat does. Choosing to pay the landlord in bitcoin will not make the tenant go broke or make him not accumulate more Bitcoin for himself. It's very likely the tenant earns in Bitcoin and also I think the purpose of news is to encourage people to start accepting cryptocurrency in the country.

You can't hurdle your Bitcoin indefinitely, there has to be a time when you'll have to sale or spend some or all of it, so there's nothing wrong with that, so far you're not spending it bellow the market price. Although you might feel at a lose if you're spending it during price dip or bear run, probably bellow the price that you bought it, but that shouldn't be a problem so far there's alternative of paying with the local fiat currency. We shouldn't forget that the original purpose of creating Bitcoin is for p2p transactions and it is the best method to drive it's adoption, although investment and trading purposes have clearly overtaken this original plan.
1274  Economy / Economics / Re: The savings problem on: January 18, 2024, 12:59:51 PM
You'd read books and watch videos online, attend seminars and read on this economic board about the 10 tips to become successful, mindset to become a millionaire and 100 positive attitudes to become rich, and after you've been fed with all the feel good theories to become rich, if you can't meet your basic needs and have a little extra to apply the theories then they're just where you are.

Average income earners work two jobs yet they can't afford a decent lifestyle for their families, because the cost of living is getting high everyday, so how can they get extra money for savings? To invest requires money, to learn new skills requires money and time, therefore without money in hand, most tips to financial freedom are all a waste of time, because many have read them and remained in their average financial condition. The rich keeps getting richer while the poor keeps getting poor, and the economies don't encourage the poor to save and have better future.
1275  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: The PCSO Lotto is shrouded in doubt due to the picture of the winner shown on: January 18, 2024, 11:46:05 AM
Reason why the face of the lottery winner didn't show could be at the request of the winner, perhaps for security reasons, because it's not everybody that needs the publicity of their faces on social media. This is not disputing the argument whether the picture is fake, because corrupt officials can go to any length to scam the public, another observation is that when checks of this nature are presented to winners, the check is printed to look bigger so the public can read every details on it. Because of the corruption in governments people no longer have trust in them, this case in discussion might be a genuine win, but we'll never know for sure.
1276  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Im good with shorting binance on: January 18, 2024, 09:26:18 AM
Im good with shorting on binance.
ID like to Open my trading group where followers can donate some rewards afrer few successful signals.
Follow here my short signals to see my work.

Right now i took the short pos MDT/USDT  entry: 0.05380$  my tp would be: 0.053$
That is pretty good if you intend to create a group for you to drop signals for anybody that is interested to trade along with you. Trading is one thing I fear alot because you might be a successful trader and you decided to create a group to be dropping signals and suddenly, you start making loses that you don't experience before.

Op has decided to create a signal group but I think he need to show us how his trading history is and how good he is in trading. This is convince us to dance to a music for whosoever is interested to use his signal if actually he is profitable for a long time before now.

If OP is so generous as to create a group where he'll be dropping signals for the members who're interested, then let interested traders give it a shot, it might be useful for them and they can become a team where they share TA. But experienced members on his thread wants to atleast know his precedents in trading and they're asking him to show his trading history, I advice him to do this to convince us that he knows what he's talking about, hopefully it'll convince some of us to join his group, share tips and give rewards from profits.
1277  Other / Politics & Society / Re: A new front of conflict China-Taiwan on: January 18, 2024, 07:32:18 AM
What i think about china taking over Taiwan is just a matter of when?
If you pay close attention to the Chinese president comment, you will know that he is just still trying to unify china and Taiwan peaceful, but if it fails, then their will be use of force, and secondly china is also paying close attention to the Russia and Ukraine war to know what to expect, how to react and navigate their way around sanctions when that time comes.

The Russian Ukraine, war should be an eye opener for China, to consider before deciding to invade Taiwan, because they shouldn't expect it to be a stroll in the park, everybody expected that Russia, being a super power will just enter Ukraine, and impose their wish, but we've seen the resistance so far from Ukraine. China, should understand that Taiwan, has a strong ally being the US, so they have a lot to consider before taking any actions against Taiwan. Besides china and Taiwan, conflict have always been there since I can remember, I'm sure that nothing will lead to a war between them because the both sides will loose, and china, understands this.
1278  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: I'm New To Crypto - Been Scammed - What Do You Think Of This Crypto Recovery Ser on: January 18, 2024, 06:32:23 AM
You have been scammed and you should avoid using such service because almost all services like that wre scam even if you see a good review. The website that give the review may also be part of the service. As for the funds that you have deposited, you don't have a chance of getting it back unless they send it back to your wallet. For me, trusting someone with the wallet even if you can't access (wanted to recover the wallet) it is already compromised and it's better not to use it anymore if ever the wallet is recovered.

Sorry for the OP lose, he's been scammed, his fund is lost and that's the sad reality, and he should be very careful if he still wants to go ahead to recover his lose, because he might end up being scammed again and losing more money in the process, as he has reported to the authority about the scam it's best now to learn from the very painful experience and move on. Let him understand that he shouldn't trust anybody or entity on the social media, and he needs to carry out thorough research before deciding whether to commit his money or not, also to be weary of clicking unverified links because they might lead to phishing sites. The crypto space is sadly full of scams and hacks so intending investors in any project must be very vigilant to avoid being victims.
1279  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Chief $TROLL Officer, Elon did it again (or the Community?) on: January 18, 2024, 05:26:28 AM
Currently, with market conditions predicted to be entering a bullish period, the coins being discussed will definitely go up, so it could be the right time to buy them before the price goes up, but remember, this is only for the short term, when the price has gone up there is no reason to hold it because they think this is suitable for the long term because this is just one of the emerging shitcoins that can provide big profits if we know how to use it, whoever is behind this coin is still just one of the shitcoins.

Same story that we hear about new projects, always the suspicion that they'll enter the market with hype, maybe an influencer celebrity says some nice things about it and early investors will buy then it'll pump and later dump on late investors, in the end it'll become another shitcoin. This naretive is almost predictable with memecoins, perhaps this coin in discussion can change the naretive and last for a long term, even make it to the top, investors however need to thread with caution, buy and don't wait for the long term before selling, because their inevitables can still catch up with it and it'll end a shitcoin.
1280  Local / Off-topic (Naija) / Re: A Skill or a degree on: January 17, 2024, 07:46:43 PM
Skills and degrees de very important, as the world be today if you specialize for one skill and you get certificate to back am up, you go get a better chance of work than person wey get only skill, so di combination de better. Education de very important, e suppose be di foundation for everybody, e go help somebody to de enlightened and to see things from a broader view, but education alone no be guarantee for wealth, person suppose get di mindset of making money to de wealthy. Because you fit see Igbo men wey no go school but dem de very successful for business, also skills fit to guarantee person wealth because no be everybody fit to perform dem work, therefore dem money de sure.

So in conclusion education na important foundation for everybody, but no be only am be di road to success, who no get di opportunity to go school fit to learn better skill, in di end both of dem de important to succeed and increase our income.
