1261  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do Bitcoins have Tax?? on: December 13, 2016, 03:01:57 PM
Obviously taxes apply in most (all?) countries.
But I wonder if there is any place on Earth that has no taxes associated with bitcoin? Like maybe Dubai?
Anyone know this?

There are a lot of countries that bitcoin is still not yet honored so they don't have choice but to ignore bitcoin even though their citizens are earning good amount with it that's why there are a lot of people who are using bitcoins that are evading taxes because their source is not taxable and that is with bitcoin.

Even if bitcoin is not recognized as anything, it wouldn't automatically mean that you are excempt of paying any taxes. I think all governments in the world are going to demand you taxes over capital gains, all that's going to change is the % you pay, that is why all those rich footballers and companies put their money offshore to pay as little as possible. Google pays a small% because its based in Ireland.. meanwhile we small people get crushed by taxes.
1262  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What would the Casino of your dreams look like? on: December 12, 2016, 05:02:14 PM
I would like quality machines like the one in bitcoinvideocasino.com with a lot of lines, good bonuses, stacking prices etc, and a god big ass jackpot to keep incentive for players.

I dont really enjoy anything else on casinos but slots, so I would like a section with games of skill like arcade games like the project seen in battlecoin.org. I think there are no games like those and it's an untapped niche.
1263  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Is there any place to gamble IF the Mayweather vs McGregor fight will happen? on: December 12, 2016, 04:50:30 PM
If a sports book offered the bet of "Mayweather vs McGregor fight will happen" - Yes/No, I think they would have to put some kind of time range qualifier or deadline like:

"Mayweather vs McGregor fight will happen in the year 2017" - Yes/No

or

"Mayweather vs McGregor fight will happen before the year 2020" - Yes/No

Yes we would need a deadline. I think we can use something like bitbet.us. It's very easy to create a contract with a deadline and so on.

https://bitbet.us/new/

As you can see it's easy, just fill the form. What I don't know is if this is the best site or not. I think there was a similar site but with a lot more traffic. The more traffic the better since we can get a bigger price pot. Maybe create it on both sites, the more sites also the better.
1264  Economy / Speculation / Re: 778 resistance broken, 779 hit, time to fly!! on: December 12, 2016, 04:38:08 PM
The last 778.something resistance from a couple of days ago before the dip to 743 was broken in the past hours. Now if you step back and take a look at the graphic you'll see that we have been going up for months now with a very healthy looking lateral uptrend. This is looking really good gentlemen, so get ready to buy as much as possible during any potential dips because we are going 800s soon.
I do have my doubts here, how do you calculate the resistance of bitcoin here as i was struggling for a while to understand how to calculate that. If you can please do enlighten me regarding this, yes the price has broken the $779 mark and i do expect the price to go uphill until a major negative news breaks against bitcoin other than that there is no reason for the price to go down.

There's nothing to calculate, just look at the graphic, but OP forgot to mention the 778 resistance as seen in last june. Then after that peak, we dipped all the way down to 465 dollars in august because of the bitfinex incident.

So we went for months trying to come back for the 778, in december 2, we tried and failed, 10 days later, we are finally past 778, and we are 779+

Resistance just means a price that has been tried to be surpassed in the past but failed.
1265  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Let's be honest, how many of you here actaully read the whitepaper? on: December 12, 2016, 04:16:18 PM
I've read the whitepaper a couple of times. Im not gonna lie, some of the most complex math stuff is too much for me, but I understand the concept. It's also very notable to realize how Adam Back is credited in the whitepaper by satoshi. I think Adam Back or one of the early core devs is satoshi nakamoto or was part of the "satoshi nakamoto" team so to speak. The anti core people is so stupid because they don't realize this fact. Sure Gavin could have been part too but he is a disaster as we have seen lately, he got scammed by Craig Wright, guy is just not very bright or he is a sold out part of the scam.
1266  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Giving up on Bitcoin... on: December 12, 2016, 04:02:54 PM
I am not the only one, lots of people have already given up.  Very fucking stupid mismanagement is the result.  At least TCP-IP and Linux had some means to make sensible adjustments in the early days.  Bitcoin has no means to fix things that need a fixin'.  "Consensus" is just a very stupid concept.  95% consensus will never be reached for any issue.  Bitcoin is fucked.  Doesn't scale.  Everyone already left.

TCP/IP protocol went exactly through the same struggles as the bitcoin protocol is going now. And how it was fixed? by building via layers on top of the TCP/IP protocol, just like we will solve the bitcoin protocol problems by building on top with additional layers (lighting network). In other words, what the fuck are you talking about? If you are ready to give up, sell everything and leave, your loss.
1267  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Security - My look at the KeepKey on: December 12, 2016, 03:37:22 PM
I should look at one of those devices, but ultimately i think it's better to have several different backups on different media, including a paper wallet encrypted with 38 and wrapped on plastic, and even encrypted 7z file in different cloud storage, email providers etc, so you have different points of failure. You should put 100% on trust on a trezor type device.
1268  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: bitcoin transactions - Slow OR Fast on: December 12, 2016, 03:26:34 PM
I just made a bitcoin transaction to make a payment, and it went smooth, the average 10 minutes for the confirmation to happen was there as always. I used bitcoin core's recommended fee. I only ever had a problem when it was during a massive ddoss spam attack, other than that during normal usage I have never had any delays. I think the problem is because people using wallets that don't recommended the proper fee.
1269  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin price by 2020? on: December 11, 2016, 07:42:43 PM
3200 USD before 2020.

If Seinfield says so then it must be right.

No but seriously I think that 3200 before 2020 is perfectly possible, actually 3200 is insanely conservative, by 2020 we hould already be at 10,000+ dollars per bitcoin almost guaranteed. As the rest of the fiat currencies keep stagnating and the gold keeps confiscated form people's hands, bitcoin will tend its inevitable road towards infinite purchasing power.
1270  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin $50,000 each by 2020 on: December 11, 2016, 07:14:52 PM
this is impossible right now because bitcoin was hardly to hit $1000 barrier this year and it would take time maybe next year. and i know this wont happen anyways by 2020 because we still need to balance the economy thats why if bitcoin will be imbalance i guess it could be a huge effect on the market thats why if you can see the graph of the bitcoin price it is needed to be balance and they can make it more higher because if you've read an article regarding on satoshi the unknown programmer of the bitcoin . he has a millions of bitcoin so if bitcoin could hit $50000 per bitcoin that would be a huge destruction of the world and thats so impossible.

Nothing is impossible. It just takes something to happen, like more countries banning gold like china and so on. If only a small % of people move their gold to Bitcoin, we can see 100000$ per bitcoin easy. It just takes people realizing they are stupid by not owning Bitcoin, I guess they will not learn until their goods are confiscated and they realize that if they had it all on bitcoin from the beginning they would have had protection against the government mess.
1271  Economy / Economics / Re: Should I believe in Bitcoin ? on: December 11, 2016, 06:10:47 PM
I have a high trust on bitcoin, indeed my trust right now is higher than gold. Gold is very weak against government control, we have seen it recently in india, and USA is on record of legislating and confiscating gold holdings. It can happen again, and only bitcoin can save your ass when that time comes.
1272  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Coin Collections will become more valueble when Bitcoin replace Fiat currencies on: December 11, 2016, 05:43:54 PM
I agree and I would like to buy some of those caessars coins or whatever is the correct way to say it. The physical coins, at least 1 BTC in physical coins. I think it will have a lot of collector value over the years, even tho it defeats the point of bitcoin since the idea is to have it digital but the collector value doesn't care about usefulness.
1273  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Everyone looses in the long run on: December 10, 2016, 02:18:34 PM
The best way to not lose is to not play. If you play, you will lose. It may seem like a dumb thing to say, and too simple and basic, but it's the truth. You can mentally masturbate all day about it, but the only way to not lose, is to not play. But remember, if you do not play, you do not win. That is the root cause of taking risks. No risks, no gain, no fun, nothing.
1274  Economy / Gambling discussion / Is there any place to gamble IF the Mayweather vs McGregor fight will happen? on: December 10, 2016, 12:33:54 PM
It seems this fight is more possible than a lot of people think, and I would like to gamble within the very idea of it happening. I think this alone can generate a huge prize pool because of the massive speculation. Latest news:

Mayweather vs Conor recent beef:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XVeRk7piOnk

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tH497a14tY4

Conor recently on record saying "let's do it under boxing rules for 100 million":

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aToXpOvH_DQ

Conor gets a boxing license and talks about potential fights with Mayweather opponents:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2ImdzUzVzjs

Just a couple of days ago, Dana White said 50 cent told him Mayweather really wants to fight Conor:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5McRtt8Dvg8

I think its very interesting to pay attention to this. We are looking at potentially the biggest fight ever with the most money. The biggest gambling pot ever in a fight. So while the hype builds up I would like to make a gamble on the fight even happening but I can't find any sites.
1275  Economy / Speculation / Re: If we didnt had idiots blocking segwit we would be sittting on 4 figures by now on: December 10, 2016, 12:23:02 PM
Even if we have some idiots still don't understanding we need segwit, the price is still rising and we are soon going to pass 778. If we had segwit activating faster, this would be more fuel for our rocket and we would reach moon 10 times faster. But the upraise cannot be stopped no matter what. ATH in new year guaranteed.

If you think implementing Segwit can lead to the price reaching 4 figures quickly, think what increasing the block size would do.
Unfortunately, we have idiots blocking that as well.  Smiley

Did you even take the time to read my thread? I said we should look at increasing the block size, but only AFTER segwit is implemented. Increasing teh blocksize BEFORE segwit is a big MISTAKE. What part of this can you and the rest of people blocking segwit while wanting a blocksize increase can not understand?

Let's get segwit activated so we can keep improving bitcoin in a safe way.
1276  Economy / Economics / Entrance for 1 in a million 21 BTC club is now $16.180 on: December 10, 2016, 12:18:58 PM
In order to be part of the small group of 1 million people to ever own 21 BTC (and less than 1 million since a lot of coins are already lost forever and it will keep shrinking) is: 16.180 dollars.

So if you use your head, you will see that this is a lot of money for like 99% of people out there to gamble with, specially if you tell them to invest 16.180 in bitcoin.

Therefore, anyone that owns $16.180 will be rich in 10 years, because he is ahead of the pack by several orders of magnitude.

Did you already reach the 21 BTC goal?
1277  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What to do with lost bitcoins on: December 10, 2016, 12:11:51 PM
I don't like the idea. As Andreas antonopoulos put it, the blockchain (the bitcoin blockchain that is) is a "monument to perpetuity" or something like that. Whatever happens cannot be changed. I would not like the idea of money moving without my consent only because it's not moved for x years.
What if in the future cryotechnology works and Hal is revived after like 500 years and he finds out all of his money is in the hands of random people?
1278  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: San Francisco Metro System Hacked with Ransomware [Paid $70,000 in Bitcoin] on: December 10, 2016, 12:02:28 PM
Recently the San Francisco Metro System got Hacked with Ransomware resulting in free rides.

Quote
It is yet not clear exactly who was responsible for the attack (besides a pseudonym "Andy Saolis"), but according to local media reports, the agency's computers were being held by ransomware until the MUNI paid the equivalent of more than $73,000 in Bitcoin.

What do you think guys?
Isn't it bad for the bitcoin to be known as a bad thing in our lives?
*If it was posted before move to the correct board.

Well, with every revolutionary technology there are drawbacks. What we need is stronger software protection against ramsomware, the stupid thing to do would be to get rid of bitcoin. It's like, why not get rid of the entire internet so that way we can avoid all hackers? No thanks, just fix your shit up, but dont blame it on bitcoin.
1279  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: [FORBES] Is Bitcoin Better Than Gold? on: December 10, 2016, 11:52:44 AM
The characteristics of bitcoin are objectively better than the ones in gold. Gold is a deprecated piece of metal that is just useless beyond its network effect. You could say its used in certain objects but it's not that necessary. As a store of value and as a way to move wealth it's next to no competition against bitcoin.
1280  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do any people gamble under the age of 18? on: December 09, 2016, 02:21:51 PM
Kids would love to gamble because in vegas they always look at the casino machines and are attracted to all the colors and stuff. When I was a kid I also wanted to gamble but I was not able to enter the machine room. In the future with bitcoin people of all ages will be able to gamble at home if they want to, but I would not let kids gamble until they are adult and make their own money. They must feel the risk of gambling with their own money otherwise they will not understand what this is about.
