Edward Snowden praises EU parliament vote against US extradition

http://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2015/oct/29/edward-snowden-eu-parliament-vote-extradition

<< Edward Snowden on Thursday hailed as "extraordinary" and a "game-changer" a vote in the European parliament calling on member states to prevent his extradition to the US. The parliament voted 285-281 to pass a largely symbolic measure, a resolution that called on European Union member states to "drop any criminal charges against Edward Snowden, grant him protection and consequently prevent extradition or rendition by third parties, in recognition of his status as whistleblower and international human rights defender".

Snowden has lived in exile in Russia since revealing secret US government surveillance programs in June 2013. The European parliament is a directly elected legislature with members from all 28 EU member states. Its legislative authority is limited. The resolution amounted to a request that member states reject attempts by the US to arrest and prosecute Snowden.

"This is not a blow against the US government, but an open hand extended by friends", Snowden tweeted. "It is a chance to move forward". >>

Does this mean Snowden will move to Europe now? I thought the only reason he stayed in Russia was his fear of extradition to the US.

Many ppl have heard about bitcoin. But they rarely buy it due to its fluctuating price. Now it is a time to buy it and get some profits.

Yes, yes and yes. I wish more people think like this. Then we would never have the price-dumpings like we had in the past and everybody would win.
12603  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Guys... I'm having this feeling again on: October 30, 2015, 08:21:28 AM
I think at the end of every year there is a massive pump and then when the year starts there is a big dump.
Except last year the pump never happened but the dump did.
I think this is a yearly or bi yearly cycle.

Don't you think the halving in 9 months is effecting the price at all?

I think, yes, the halving is effecting the price, and right now the price ($332) is not as high as it should be ($500) in several months. But if we have say $800 in December then we can talk about cycles mentioned above, then, yes, it is a pump ($800 per BTC) and the dump (to $450, or even to $350) will follow.
12604  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What do you think about this comment ? on: October 29, 2015, 07:02:07 PM
It's still true that wealth disparity in bitcoin isn't good, but it's i think even have 1BTC makes you rich if everyone in this world use bitcoin.

If you own 1 bitcoin in the future, you are one of top 21 million rich person. So please hold and use your bitcoin to make bitcoin popular.

in reality you're much better off than that because several persons have thousands of bitcoin, leaving even less for the average joe.

Having 1 full bitcoin or more makes you quite rich compared to most others.

$300? it's a steal, even $3000 is way too cheap.

If bitcoin sees any success as a global currency it needs to be several orders of magnitude higher, there just aren't enough whole bitcoins for everyone to have one, and $300 is far too accessible for the average joe.
This a million times. But for some reason, people don't just understand this. They don't have a proper understanding of supply and demand. They can't see how the current marketcap is pathetically low and so is the price, it's microscopic. Wake up people, Bitcoin is cheap at 3 dollars, 300, and 3000. At 30k? Then we are talking something competitive. The opportunities to make mad bank with it are so high it's not even funny.

I agree. Now it's just too early for people to understand this. In the future all the people in the world will be using Bitcoin and maybe some other cryptocurrencies because of convenience and maybe some other reasons. It's just the matter of time.

So ponzi schemes are legal in Russia, but Bitcoin illegal?

idiots

They are not idiots. Ponzi schemes are made by those who make laws and Bitcoin is something they don't understand and fear for that reason.

How many people here want Trump to win?  I always find it so funny people get so upset about politics and they know they have the right answer.  How the heck do you know you have the right answer when you don't even have any idea who the person is you are voting for.

It will make little difference if Trump wins or not. The US national debt level will keep on rising, wealth will be distorted to rich people. If Trump supports bitcoin, then I want him to win.

Trump doesn't look to me like a guy who will support Bitcoin. IMO Hillary will support it not beacause shes so smart but because she has smart advisers around. We'll see though. But I think Hillary will win anyway.

Maybe it is a good idea to ask our friends to buy 1 bitcoin each. There will not be more than 21 million people having more than 1 bitcoin. We could be the world's top 21 million rich person.

I've always advocated that especially when btc was under $250. A small investment that *could* reap a fortune in years to come.

I know the idea is to get btc used as a mainstream currency but in the interim putting away one single bitcoin is a good idea. If it never becomes a viable currency it could very well remain a tremendous store of wealth.

BTC is divisible very easily. To send 1$ or 1000$ or more in BTC does not make much difference. To move 1$ in the real world is easy, 1000$ so and so but try to move 100000$ and see what happens.

We often see this huge transaction of more than a thousand dollar moving on the blockchain.

I don't know if it is just me but I am still amazed by this fact.

Yeah, me too. I think they go from some exchange or something, but still it's amazing. Just now I saw 95 BTC transaction on the blockchain and 30 seconds later this:

Amazing really )

12609  Economy / Micro Earnings / Re: In 2015, faucets are bad for bitcoin on: October 29, 2015, 05:11:40 PM
I don't think faucets are bad. they encourage people to play a bit with their coins; maybe that's how they get into BTC

I agree, kids especially, they are the future to tell the truth, but they don't have any money sometimes, so faucets are a very good start with Bitcoin for them.
12610  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Debate: Do you think criminals do more good than harm to bitcoin? on: October 29, 2015, 03:21:02 PM
Lately I have seen another news of some kidnappers demanding ransom in bitcoin. Then the family seems to be really bought $1.7M worth of BTC (about 5.5k BTC as my estimate). This would be one of the reason for the recent price increase ($1.7M is a lot of money!). However medias keep spreading false information on bitcoin, like stating 'bitcoin is using widely in criminals' etc.

So how do you think? Does the advantages outweigh the disadvantages?

Personally I don't think such events are good for Bitcoin. It is already associated with criminals too much. That's why some people who hate criminals avoid using BTC.
12611  Other / Off-topic / Re: Will you quit your day job to go full time on bitcoin? on: October 29, 2015, 12:53:43 PM
I am a student, I sometimes skipped college to work here as a signature campaign
but i won't to quit of my college, although sometimes thinkable for it
i think signature campaign won't that much of time, and good for you to not quit your college, because if you do that you'll probably going to be an office boy  Grin, dont try to look at mark zuckerberg or whoever left the college and becoming success, its rarely happen and really need hardwork + luckyness

I absolutely agree with this. Study as much as you can while you are young and later you'll see the benefits of this approach.
12612  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Chinese Government Starting to Buy Bitcoin? on: October 29, 2015, 12:46:29 PM
If that information is true then i understand now why the price has starting to be increased.
If they start to use bitcoin i think that 14Million that are currently mined aren't enough.
Or the price of the bitcoin will increase way too much maybe x10

I hope you are right. But I personally doubt that the price may increase tenfold. It might for some time though, but it will drop then to $500 around a year or so.

One good point. Fiat will be gone.   Smiley

haha, that's a good one!  Smiley I'm wondering if Bitcoin will survive the nuclear winter would it be possible to buy a new humanity with it?  Smiley
12614  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin Price Hits Highest Level Since August on: October 29, 2015, 08:50:40 AM
I think the problem here is whether it can maintain the level it has reached right now. This is not the first time that after it has breached the 300 level we saw some quick selling going on that eventually pulled the price back to the 220 to 240 range. Let's see if it will be different this time.

I believe this time bitcoin may do different things as it has progressed to this level with high volumes than last attempts. It means it has enough reasons to stay there at $300 levels for some time. Sustaining above $300 is more important for further price movement.

The price is going back bellow than $300.
At the moment it is 298 as shows on coindesk bitcoin price chart.
I think it should take the highest level on November or December for this year

But now the price is above $305 again. It looks like it is stabilizing there, around $300, but I think it will reach $320 and will stay at that point +- $20 several months from now.

Looks like photoshopped to me. If that was true it would be posted on Reddit or Imgur and the views count would be at least tens of thousands, not like 174 views it has on Imgur now.
12616  Economy / Gambling / Re: Safest method to double your coins? on: October 29, 2015, 08:28:13 AM
Safest method to double your coins? You mean in value or in quantity?

There is no safe way to double them in quantity, but there is a pretty safe way to almost double them in value: just hold your coins until the summer 2016.
12617  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin and other cryptocoin. The best? on: October 29, 2015, 08:18:05 AM
I don't know what you think, but i think that other cryptocoins are just a "little-brake" for the BTC growth. If BTC is world-wide crypto coin, why so the need to make other one?

And, sure, the first wide-known cryptomoney will be BTC, coz is the most known. Have u a little idea about the time need other cryptocoin to be wide-known? BTC has been the first on market, and except some forks, will be the leader.

From here to 5 years, what is the scenario for u?

I think that there is nothing wrong with that other cryptocurrencies are appearing. Most of them vanish into oblivion over time but some of them stay and become acceptable.

If you want to compare cryptocurrencies, you might want to have a look at the pretty accurate table which contains the most known cryptocurrencies so far:

12618  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin Price Breaks 300; Now What? on: October 29, 2015, 08:00:45 AM
i personally glad to see the bitcoin price now but i never had any speculation for the next price because bitcoin price is unpredictable
but my questions is could the price would stable at that price or it would back again to $220

We'll probably will build a plateau at ~$300

Looks like we are going further up from the plateu now. The price is $306 already.

We'll see what happens next, but my prediction is that the price will stabilize at aruond $320 and will be there 4-5 months and then it will go up again, to $500 in summer 2016.

The journalist who came with "Bitcoin CEO" deserves his head chopped off. I would gladly do it.

Titles like this make me sick too. They think it would sound better but they never think how ridiculous is it really.

Looks like a really nice strategy, going to try it out!!

Good luck with that! Any strategy might work. At least there is always a chance that it will work. )
