12621  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Antminer S6 speculation on: December 23, 2014, 05:24:29 PM
We have now seen the S5, which is not really what i've been expected, the SP20 can do the same, 500W at aprox 1080 GH/S, and it can be easily undervolted, and it's been on the market for a while already.
What about the S6 ? maybe they will get better with the S6?
I expect it to be around 4 Th/S - 4.5 TH/S, with an 2000W
Price should be somewhere around 1500 $ TOPS

I would say the S5 was not to far from expected.  Double it's former S3 on hashing power and less power.  I expect S6 will follow trend.  We will see around 4T with less or equal to S4 power.

12623  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: What about ANTMINER S1? on: December 23, 2014, 03:20:32 AM
When I first started mining, I went into it using a cheap BFL jalapeno I bought off of eBay. From there, and I kid you not, I moved onto 4Th/s consisting of two S3 miners and 3 bigger 1th units. This was all within the space of 4 days. I now sold the BFL's at a small profit. I only do this as a hobby, on the side thing. I'm currently up on my investment which is good but has been slow as of late.

Down here in Australia, the S1's sell between $50 - $170. S3's sell for $150 - $200. I got both of mine under $200 each and so long BTC stays where it is, they will retain value unless game changing hardware comes out.

Ditch the S1, get yourself an S3(same power consumption, more than double hashing power) and give it a try. If you don't like, pull out.

$150 for an S3?!?!?!

I do not believe you lol.  If you can find an S3 for sub $200 do that.

150 is possible it is on the low side.  You can get cheaper on here then other places.  Auctions on ebay have ebay and paypal fees.  They add up here you don't have to mess with those fees as a seller.
12624  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Mining Paycoin on: December 23, 2014, 03:17:01 AM
any big exchange for paycoin?
or any trade thread for this?

cryptsy
bittrex is better than cryptsy,
happy trade now.

Looking at 24 hours on this coin is pretty amazing.   I did not expect this.    But could be a interesting coin.
12625  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Is it Possible to Solo Mine with Silverfish 28M Miners? on: December 23, 2014, 03:14:27 AM
Surely they are someone out there that has Silverfish miners and have asked the same question I have. Now the only thing is finding that person with the golden knowledge.

The issue that your having is that it seems the silverfish only support stratum while mining to a wallet only supports getwork iirc.

You may be able to overcome this with a stratum proxy -- https://github.com/Stratehm/stratum-proxy

Point the silverfish at the proxy, then the proxy at the wallet

The stratum proxy should work to fix some compatibility.  It has been a while since I had my SF-28.

Nicehash never worked with the SF software it would do 99 percent reject.   Nicehash has a area it talks about proxy some, https://www.nicehash.com/index.jsp?p=asic

HASHRA ASTRO - 100 MH/S - 600 WATTS +- 10% - 28nm CHIP - $450 - FREE SHIPPING

Deliveries on the Hashra Astro will begin in December

Nice offer. How about cash-on-delivery sale? I could be another happy customer in this case...  Grin

my plan at the present time is to not have any for inventory since there things are not like ordinary inventory, i.e. you can plug them in and start making money but if we decide to order a few extra I'll let you know and you're welcome to come pick it up in northern maryland where I live.

drama, drama , drama - if there's not enough - start some Smiley

thanks

I hope you end up doing inventory.  I personally have been scared of preorders like many.   I expect your sales would be quite a bit more if we could see a product and especially if in stock.

Do you have a video or pictures of the hashra unit?  Or is it still renderings?

i think they hit it!

they burnin S5 before shipping-my take, which makes it ~20-30PH of S5=15-20K machines Huh?

I would agree I think most are already back from paycoin.  I think we will see quite a bit of S5 burn in.  They seem to sell quite a few each release.  With this being a new chip a lot will probley buy.
12628  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Can't find Antminer S3 IP address - won't reset on: December 22, 2014, 07:56:31 PM
I have tried using IP scanner to find the IP address and nothing is showing up for 192.168.0, 192.168.1, or 192.168.2.  I have tried resetting it multiple times in the hopes of resetting it to 192.168.1.99 but no luck.  Any suggestions?

What do the lights do?  Does it seem to still be hashing?

And on reset if you do it the IP should be 192.168.1.99 .   It takes around 10 seconds of holding in the little button after it takes a few minutes to do the restart.

The green and red lights are both on.  It's not hashing because I don't have it setup on my new router.  If I hold down the reset button nothing happens.  If I power it off and back on while holding reset then the red light flashes until I turn it off.

I would give it 3-5 mins to reset.  What IP range is your router using?
12629  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: noob in bitcoin on: December 22, 2014, 06:38:47 PM
Why do you want to invest in cloud mining website? Do you know that a good part of cloud mining company are only scam?

Anyway, if you want to earn a good quantity of bitcoin try to sign in a signature campaign which is present in "Services" section !

I think the reason a lot do it is they get you a miner for what ever price you want.   Most miners you will spend 500+ or so for one that is current gen (SP20, S5, etc).  On this I think some see a way to mine with much littler spent.

I do agree it will be interesting one day to see which cloud companies just go away with the BTC paid to them.

12631  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Power wires coming off of PSU due to vibration on: December 22, 2014, 06:25:54 PM

My main issue is that the power wires keep coming loose on the PSU and I was wondering is anyone has hot glued them on after they had been hooked up?  I'm using Dell 750 Watt PSUs

Do you mean the wires on plug it goes in keeps coming loose?  What is vibration coming from?
12632  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Dec 17 to Dec 29th diff thread (-0.32%) to (-0.12%) on: December 22, 2014, 05:42:59 PM
s5 shipping is too late to make a big splash. i'm still waiting for returning brothers that fought for xpy...

The XPY machines most should have made it back by now.   There are some chances are still on rental sites and nicehash still, but most should be back soon (If not already it's been days since XPY gave rewards for mining).

I would not say to late.  In 5 days they ship.  We will see testing (burn-in's) prior to that.   It's safe to say we will see a increase in hash rate.   We cannot predict what that is.

But expect something to be replacing those old Dragons, etc. Most have cheap electricity, and not shut down. It could be SP gear, or Bitmain.  The advantage with SP would be something like sp-35 you get around 5T per and are all ready for rack mount.

I don't know if it will be enough to go positive or not this round but it will go up some.
12633  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: 5 Megawatt for mining (1UAH~6 cents $ per 1kW) on: December 22, 2014, 02:52:11 PM
This would only be of interest if the price could be guaranteed for any extended period, say 2 years or more, and electricity supply could also be guaranteed.

There are reports in the press of coal shortages and cut-backs of electricity in Ukraine.  I don't know if this is the case but it does not seem like a good area for reliable electricity supply.

and
http://zik.ua/en/news/2014/12/21/ukraine_has_no_option_but_cut_electricity_supplies_to_crimea_551026
and
http://articles.economictimes.indiatimes.com/2014-12-19/news/57233843_1_thermal-power-plants-power-crisis-power-restrictions

As well Ukraine electricity generation seems to be undergoing major reorganization.  See for example Energy Company of Ukraine (HAK) being liquidated (Needs translation to English).

http://www.epravda.com.ua/news/2014/09/4/488871/

In summary mining needs guaranteed prices and guaranteed electricity supply.  Maybe Ukraine is OK but at the moment it does not give the impression that both price and supply can be guaranteed. Ideally the price should be fixed to USD or Euros.

Yes, we can guaranteed extended period. And you are quite right about coal and cut-backs, but it`s not in all country, only some cities. Our location guaranteed stable electricity supply without cut-backs or other problems.

Do you have any pictures of the place?

Also on a sidenote the S5 ships Dec 27th.  Will be interesting to see effect of that on hash rate.
12635  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER C1 Discussion and Support Thread on: December 22, 2014, 02:45:04 PM
Hello guys .
special greetings to Mr. dogie

firstly, I would like to thank you for your great installing guide which helped me a lot to install my c1 miner .
secondly , I realy want your assisstance to make my miner mine .
I'm very new to mining so please have patience guys if you see any silly questions  Grin .

my c1 miner is 2nd batch with cooling kit .
I'm useing 2 cooler master psu's (  620 watts & 725 watts , 85% efficiency ) to power the miner .

I connected 4 pci's to the miner ( 2 from 620 +2 from 725  in one line ) . the cooling system is working fine .
but the miner is not mining . I connected the miner directly to my labtop using ethernet cable following your  guide .
the first thing I've noticed is that If my labtop is connected to the miner with a cable , it can not connect to the internet using wifi .
I logged to the setting page on 192.168.1.99 to change the worker name to my username.1,
then change network settings to dhcb . then I connected the miner to the internet cable but it doesn't mine . I note that when I turn on the miner
it lights red around 1 minute .

I have no idea how to find the miner page after changing the ip adress to dhcb, but I can fing what ip is assigned to my labtop if I connect it to the intenet cable .

You could look in router for connected devices.  Also can use M's program to see antminers on network.

If that fails there is always reset, and as last resort putting the image listed in second post on sd.
12636  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Is there a way to earn 50$ in a month from faucets ? on: December 22, 2014, 03:21:16 AM
Just forget about faucets, you won't get much from them. Working at McDonald's should give you easily 10x more than you could get from faucets.

Absolutely, But the problem is if we work at McDonald, we must compete each with a hundred that seeking that job.

Meanwhile in bitcoin, if we are good and have your own skill to promote your affiliates,
That's mean your're competing with yourself which is better than a hundred

Do you really think it will be a hundred seeking that one McDonald job?   I think you are overestimating it.

I do agree it is in no way a guarantee on getting any job.  But getting enough affiliates on a faucet to make 50 in a month VERY VERY few will do.
12637  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Best way to give the gift of Bitcoin? on: December 22, 2014, 03:17:11 AM
I would have a paper wallet and show them how to import it one day when they want to use it.

It really depends on how much they know about bitcoin.   Also might share about being careful with wallet.  I think it is a neat idea.
12638  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: 5 Megawatt for mining (1UAH~6 cents $ per 1kW) on: December 22, 2014, 12:55:34 AM
Hello. Maybe my propose will be interesting to investors or large mining farms owners.

1kW - 1 UAH (today it`s about 6 cents).

Central part, Ukraine. 100% Safe and security territory. Far away from ATO zone.

We can host your hardware, or just sell the electricity, buildings (for rent).

Ask questions, we are open for cooperations.

It is going to be hard to get people for this.  Most of the big players already know how to find low priced electricity.   For a building doing this I image you will need a lot more cooling then you have.  Expect a decent cost for cooling gear.
12639  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Browser based mining on: December 22, 2014, 12:45:51 AM
BTCHi,
I know there are quite a few posts about this topic on the forum, but they mainly seem to be about bitcoinplus com. And not only are the fees extremely high, but also does it only work if Java is enabled. What I am interested in is a browser based Bitcoin miner not needing Java and using the computers CPU.
I found thishttp://qz.com/154877/by-reading-this-page-you-are-mining-bitcoins/ and it's kind of exactly what I'm looking for, but the code doesn't seem to be public...
Has anyone know anything similar?

Like others said it will use more electricity then money it makes.

Would be interesting if they release the code.   But I doubt they do.   I imagine would be a new kinda faucet could be made from it.  But again cost more than you make.
12640  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Antminer S5 Speculation on: December 21, 2014, 10:50:33 PM
So will we get S5 orders going b4 Xsmas?

My guess is after Christmas.  It is a guess so take it worth a grain of salt.

They could do it monday/tuesday, but I don't see them doing it on Christmas Eve or Christmas.  But it would be a nice little gift if I am wrong.
