12661  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Transactions per seconds (help to calculate) on: May 06, 2018, 03:43:51 PM
Bitcoin would handle 10 times more tx per hour and Litecoin 2.5 times.

7 x 10 = 70 tps for Bitcoin.
56 x 2.5 = 140 tps for Litecoin.

Correct me if I'm wrong.

12663  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Localbitcoins now requires identification on: May 06, 2018, 01:25:06 PM
Do you know what amount they consider to be "significant in the past 12 months"?

I verified my account ages ago so it doesn't affect me directly but I'm just curious.

No. Looks like no one from Localbitcoins has actually commented about this new "limits".
12664  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Where do we sell and buy bitcoins in uganda....???? on: May 06, 2018, 01:10:53 PM
Why would it matter where you're from? Since most of the trading happens online, you can trade from wherever you like, if you have problems with some sites, use a procy/vpn. Or is it about converting fiat?
Read the thread again.

@OP, check this article: 5 ways you can buy Bitcoin if you are in Uganda
12665  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Localbitcoins now requires identification on: May 06, 2018, 01:02:31 PM
Is there any announcement to go with that? I'm wondering if that affects all accounts if it is just trades over a certain amount or in specific countries.

Yes the guide is currently missing the ID verification requirement.

A few months back we started requiring all users to be ID verified before they can create an advertisement.
https://www.reddit.com/r/localbitcoins/comments/8bzx00/identification_required_for_advertising/dxfw3d3/

But it looks like you also need to verify your account with ID if you have been trading a lot.

"Your trade volume has been significant in the past 12 months. Please, verify your ID to continue trading" WTF?

12666  Economy / Web Wallets / Re: warning, phishing sites in google search on: May 06, 2018, 01:32:19 AM
even using adblock extension it will not block google search ads, at least not for me.
Then you are using a bad adblock.

I recommend uBlock Origin (chrome/firefox). Haven't seen a single Google ad in more than 1 year. And for those who manage to bypass the block, I manually add it to the filter and never see them again.
12667  Other / Meta / Re: Do source's smerit allowance increase if the sources are doing a resectable job? on: May 06, 2018, 12:59:56 AM
Probably. Theymos said that the amount of sMerits each source has per month isn't static and that he will adjust it a lot.

By no means is the set of merit sources or their sMerit/month static. I will be adjusting it a lot as needed, especially in the beginning. I wouldn't be surprised if there are 100-200 sources in a year from now.

Looks like a great way to spam the forum and keep a shitpost at the top of the board.

Don't do it.
12669  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: Multy - bitcoin open source mobile wallet on: May 05, 2018, 08:00:33 PM
Why can't I use this wallet in rooted devices?

Edit: got it by hiding root from the app with Magisk. But I still don't like the idea of blocking the use of the app just because the user rooted his phone.
12670  Other / New forum software / Re: New feature request: a "Report merit abuse button" on: May 05, 2018, 06:27:18 PM
Merit isn't moderated. So there is no point in adding this.

About cleaning the meta section, we could do this by creating a megathread and making everybody only post their reports there.
12671  Economy / Web Wallets / Re: warning, phishing sites in google search on: May 05, 2018, 04:10:14 PM
Easiest solution ever: use an adblock extension and never fall for this phising websites with ads on Google.
12672  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Authenticator gone after reboot. What now? on: May 05, 2018, 04:03:52 PM
~
This is only teaching how to change the 2FA of your Google Account to a new device. It has nothing to do with other websites (specifically Kraken). 2FA codes from Google Authenticator aren't stored anywhere, so you can't "recover" them.

OP can't restore his codes. He will need to contact every website support and ask for help. From the same article above:

Quote
[...] You'll need to visit each site individually and scan the QR code with your new device.

That's why I use andOTP (lets me backup my encrypted codes to the cloud).

12674  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Track your investments?? on: May 05, 2018, 03:14:59 PM
Coinmarketcap is what I use to check on what specific exchanges an altcoin is listed. Most information for your investments are there, ANN, website, telegram group, etc.
Please stop using Coinmarket cap and start using a better alternative like Livecoinwatch.com or Worldcoinindex.com (more features, doesn't have Bitcoin.com as a 'BTC website' and no ICO scam ads)
12675  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Lost paper wallet on: May 05, 2018, 02:28:58 PM
No.

I'm sorry, but the private key is the only thing you need to know to recover your coins. Without it, your coins are gone.
12676  Economy / Reputation / Re: Removal of Illegit negative Trust on: May 05, 2018, 01:15:27 AM
if you go into a highly complex environment with countless rules, how do you know you are not accidentally breaking one without knowing it?
Ignorantia juris non excusat

i was just asking weather its possible to exchange merit donations, didnt knew it was illegal, the mods should here use their brain:
None of the users who gave you a negative trust are mods. Merit trading isn't even against the rules. It's just a shady behavior, and that's why you got a negative trust and not a ban.

2. "I just don't trust him" is a completely subjective oppinion, similar like the central banks and banking cartels that "I just don't trust Bitcoin"
Maybe. But trust isn't moderated. The user don't trust you and that's it.

and remove this negative trust.
Only who left you the negative trust can remove it. And after reading the reference link, I doubt they will.

No.

Either pay 50 BTC to become a VIP user or ask theymos (he will probably just ignore you).

Question answered. Please lock the thread to avoid spam (don't know how to lock your thread? read this)
12679  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Should cryptocurrencies be held for a long time or used to pay? on: May 04, 2018, 08:29:50 PM
Simple. Just spend and rebuy.

This way you keep your hodlings while helping increase Bitcoin adoption. If everybody just hold, why would merchants start accepting Bitcoin?
12680  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: [ANN] Bither - a simple and secure Bitcoin wallet! on: May 04, 2018, 06:46:01 PM
HI  I'm trying to transfer BTG but keep seeing "-25missing inputs"  does anyone know what this means or how to fix it?  Thx
Are you sure you have any BTG to transfer? This error probably means that there is no inputs to be spent (there is no coins in the address).
