12701  Other / Meta / Re: F*#king merit system but we have to live with that… on: May 01, 2018, 04:49:10 PM
OP = you. Lauda is saying that this is a great way of giving merit to alts while pretending you are meriting legitimate users. And that's the issue. Maybe you really want to motivate and reward users who do HQ posts, but someone else could steal your idea to merit his fake accounts and rank up without risking a negative trust. Basically "money merit laundering".
12702  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How to improve Bitcointalk rank as quickly as possible?? on: May 01, 2018, 04:29:21 PM
Yesterday you made this thread in the 'Meta' board: How could I upgrade my Bitcointalk forum rank and how could I create Signature?

As a newbie I don't have any exact idea about how could I improve my bitcointalk rank and also how could I make a signature.
Please guide me that will very helpful to me..

The user Myrik_BY answered your question by posting this in your thread:
"Newbies - Read before posting" - https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1689727.0

Now let's compare it to the thread where I'm commenting right now:

As I am very new to Bitcointalk I dont know how could I improve my rank, and what should I have to do as beginner. Kindly guide me that will help me a lot.
Thanks in advance for your support.

Hmm.... looks the same for me 🤔
12703  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How to improve Bitcointalk rank as quickly as possible?? on: May 01, 2018, 04:19:51 PM
You already made a post asking the same thing and people already told you everything you needed to know.

Are you just spamming this to increase your post count?
12704  Other / Meta / Re: F*#king merit system but we have to live with that… on: May 01, 2018, 03:31:58 PM
I believe you're confusing Merit with sMerit.

Merit is what you receive.
sMerit is what you can give.

So, basically your idea is to give a bonus payment for those who get merits while in your campaign?
12705  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Giving merit on: May 01, 2018, 03:22:42 PM
Thank you everyone. As you all can see, I already linked OP to a thread that explains everything about the merit system and he already thanked me.

Now you guys can stop bumping this thread with the same thing over and over again just to increase your post count.

THE THREAD HAS BEEN ANSWERED ALREADY.
12706  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Coin Market Cap Price Checker Android App on: May 01, 2018, 02:12:11 PM
Are you representing CMC in some way or being their referral?  Huh
Not even one of them would advertise themselves in this way.
He's probably just using their name.

This is their only official mobile app - and it's only available for iOS: https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/coinmarketcap-com/id1282107098?mt=8

Let me FTFY: "Is it okay for me to keep spamming the forum with my bounty reports garbage?"

The answer is no.
12708  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: What is benefit of using paid API? on: May 01, 2018, 03:00:40 AM
Most of them are rate limited or have a quicker update frequency for paid users. So let's imagine that you have an app that it's using a specific API to show the price of Bitcoin and there are 10k people refreshing it. You will soon get rate limited for too many requests and the API will stop giving you data. This won't happen if you have a paid API with an huge/unlimited number of requests per minute.
12709  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Giving merit on: May 01, 2018, 02:45:57 AM
You can't because you have no sMerits available.

12710  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Offline wallet on: May 01, 2018, 02:22:10 AM
Both have pros and cons. I would say that an offline wallet could be safer than a hardware wallet if done right.

Some reasons on why I prefer an offline wallet:
1. It's cheaper;
2. I don't have to trust the wallet manufacturer;
3. I have full access over my private-keys.

On the other side, hardware wallets are way more convenient and user-friendly.
12711  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Meta-Mask Wallet - ERC20 Token Help on: May 01, 2018, 01:19:53 AM
Do I need to manually add the token to my wallet before receiving it or will the meta mask wallet automatically detect and create a wallet for any ERC20 token ?
You don't need to do anything to receive the tokens. The maximum you would need to do is manually add the token to see its balance and spend them. But they will be there in your address even without MEW first recognizing them.
12712  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Are centralized cryptocurrencies safe? on: May 01, 2018, 01:08:33 AM
Obviously not. The thing that makes Bitcoin secure is that its network is distributed everywhere. So a government would have to turn down every Bitcoin node and miner to "turn off the network".

Meanwhile, if a service is centralized, it's way easier for a government to target its single point of failure and turn off everything (i.e like they do with websites and darknet services);
12713  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How to HODL correct ? on: April 30, 2018, 11:18:44 AM
I prefer the spend and rebuy method. Instead of hodling your coins forever, spend them with a merchant that accepts crypto and rebuy the coins you spent. This way, you support who also supports crypto, while keeping your crypto hodlings for the future.

Aim for adoption and the price will rise naturally.
12714  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Clarifying Wallet Backups The File Type Wallet Data ( *. dat) What's Correct? on: April 29, 2018, 11:39:22 PM
Question just to clarify before I start this project:  Does the Name of the File have to have .dat at the end of it ?  Like your example of "Vanilla Ice Cream . dat", which I love by the way.  :-) or is it just the File Type that needs to have the .dat?
I believe that when you select the ".dat" file type, your computer will add it to the end of the file automatically.
And not every wallet uses the .dat file extension. You should use what the program is telling you to use.
12715  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Clarifying Wallet Backups The File Type Wallet Data ( *. dat) What's Correct? on: April 29, 2018, 06:13:23 PM
First of all, you don't need to name your wallet files "WALLET"; You can name them "vanilla icecream.dat" and they will be recoverable in the future. The content is what matters.

Also, how did you manage to save three files with the same name and extension (wallet.dat) without one of them overwriting above the previous one? If you are on Windows, can you right click each of those files and go to "Properties" to see in which extension is the file? Because it could be something like "wallet.dat.txt", where the .txt part is hidden by default, so you only see the "wallet.dat" part. Just curious about that.

The Major Question:  Did I misunderstand the tutorials and forums?  Are you able to Create the "FILE NAME" and name it whatever you want as long as the FILE TYPE Remains a Wallet Data ( * .dat ) File ?
Exactly.

Quote
Is it possible for me to just RENAME the files and still be able to recover my wallets via my backup methods?
Yes. The name doesn't matter.

Quote
Can I just Back Them Up Again, keeping the File Type the Same but changing their name from "Wallet" to:

1.  My Bitcoin Wallet
2.  My Ether Wallet
3.  My Verge Wallet
That't what I would do.

Quote
I'm currently using only one Flash Drive to back up all 3 Wallets, is this OK to do?  or should I have a separate Flash Drive for each specific wallet?
Yes. But having multiple Flash Drives (for all 3 wallets, and not one per flash drive) would be better. What if your Flash Drive stops working?
12716  Economy / Web Wallets / Re: What Happens To My Wallet Identifier Reminder If The Email Account Is Gone? on: April 29, 2018, 03:19:01 PM
Sorry, I should have been more specific. What would happen on Blockchain's end when I gave them these emails to search? Would they see that there was an email that created the account and be able to retrieve my id or would it come back as never being created because the email is now gone?
They will check if there is any account with that email, and if there is, they will send an email with the wallet ID.

If you have access to that email, you will receive the message.
If the email isn't valid, nothing will happen.
12717  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: User stats are disabled on: April 29, 2018, 03:02:50 PM
Ok but what does DDos mean? Then how can I find my Profil ID?
The forum was being attacked. That's all you need to know.

To find your profile id, just click at your username next to your post and look at the url.
12718  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: User stats are disabled on: April 29, 2018, 01:47:33 PM
Nothing. User stats are disabled for everyone because people were using it to DDoS the forum.

I might've figured it out. A bunch of things are currently disabled; I'll work on safely enabling them in the coming days.
12719  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Electrum not syncing on: April 29, 2018, 01:40:06 PM
I have electrum 2.7.18 installed on my rasp pi
That's the issue. This version of Electrum has synchronization issues and a important vulnerability (already corrected in new versions). You will need to upgrade it to the latest version.

Am nervous that if I uninstall the current electrum and update will the BTC still finds it s way there as long as I have the address it was sent to?
Do you have your wallet seed stored anywhere? If anything happens, you can just open Electrum and use the word seed to restore your wallet again.

If you forgot to write it down or just ignored the warning when setting up your wallet, you can see it again by going to Wallet -> Seed; Remember to always double-check the words to see if everything is correct.
12720  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Can i make a posts anytime with no limits? on: April 29, 2018, 01:30:29 PM
Right now you can only post once every 6 minutes. Once you get at least 15 points of activity, you will be able to post once every minute - which is more than enough, otherwise you will probably get banned for post bursting.

Code:
waittime = 360;
if(activity >= 15)
        waittime = (int)(90 - activity);
if(activity >= 60)
        waittime=(int)(34.7586 - (0.0793103 * activity));
if(activity >= 100)
        waittime = max((int)(14-(activity/50)), 4);
