too beat a dead horse.

UNO has by Legal definition X-value.
That will be adopted by all States under the doctrine of THESE UNITED STATES,
HOO RAH!

What other coin has such status?  Federal Jurisdiction Signatory.  Done.  Deal.  Only ONE coin in the lot!
1282  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [UNO] Unobtanium Info & Discussion - Update to 0.10 Wallet - Merge Mine w/BTC! on: March 14, 2017, 03:59:48 PM
"sold individually" ?   Wink

fear of the State. FEAR freely gave that UNO to the State of Florida.
via CEO of Bittrex authorization.
Vern absconded to China.
The fund was transferred in full.

The State, which I assume, acknowledged the favor, and in turn, returned said to UNO parties it could identify.  Good job.  Thank you.

By Law.
Secured by crypto transfer.
That kilo-Ton, will now be transfer to the "Buyer".

UNO might be one of a few State sanctioned cryptos.  Really.

[yeah many on the list .. BUT .. Exhibit C .. legal definition of amount and rate .. is ONE Smiley]

How many major cryptocurrencies do you think the world has room for?
I am sure this is not the first time this question has been asked but I cant find a closely related thread and I searched a few different times.

Anyway, its a simple enough questions. Keep in mind the question is "how many" not "what coins".

I know theres plenty of bitcoin maximalists out there that think theres room for only one coin.

Personally, I could see there being room for a few:

Bitcoin - It was first, and I think it will always have users
One primary transaction coin - Coin with a high transaction rate (transactions per second) and low fees.
A privacy focused coin or two
I think some countries may decide to make their national currency a crypto, but, not any time soon, and they will almost certainly stuff it up (make the fees too high and all the fees go to their own wallet or something silly)
Maybe a few specialty coins, (ie, Storj for storage), however, I think its more likely such services would be provided and paid for using an already existing currency focused coin, but the service could use their own tokens for the purpose of allocation ratios for that currency coin.

So, long story short I think:

4 - 6 coins + national crypto's if any

I think once it has become "obvious" what coin is going to be the primary transaction coin most of the alts will die out (i know they don't really disappear, but their market cap will drop to 1% or something of the main coin)
1284  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How many major cryptocurrencies do you think the world has room for? on: March 14, 2017, 03:52:11 PM
I can keep track of about 5 at the same time.

In fiat currencies there are about 5 major currencies (USD, EUR, GBP, CNY, JPY) I would only expect about 5 crypto currencies to be very sucessful if crypto is adopted worldwide.

The hundreds that are around now are generally junk, and will remain so.

Agreed. The brain can only stored 7 working items in it's short term memory too, so probably less than 7

Jesuit Fuck'n Crystals!

a N00b with a brain!!

Yeah, only the top12-16 will resonate with the general clueless.

There are +25 solid block chain experiments.

The key being will it survive.  Some have already.

The confusion is in ASSETS that are leading the pack.
The question is which chain will they adopt?

The best platforms are still OMNI or XCP.

After that your best guess??

odd that you mention that.

i know
just a another shit coin PnD

BUT
it had something to offer and a cool website (that once did serve actual Movies).
It was Netflix, for near free!

streaming content, and rewarding uploaders.

STOP.  I know your next bone to pick.
But.
Really.
This a thing that needs to happen.

A network that rewards open nodes that host the various content that is on demand.

VIDZ is a scam.
Gone. Puff!

I agree, we, are, too few.

When I think of all the average people, making less than even $5/day, crypto is here and accessible.

O-h! Honestly some goat herder in Ethiopia can handle the costs of a mem-stick, a cell phone, and keeping a mostly up-to-date chain.  There are fair # of chains under $10K, think of the flip in life style for anyone, and I mean anyone ... paying attention!

Now include the 2nd world, forgotten class, they have access to banks of computers, trust me PC cafes are easy to locate world round, plus many have fundamental programing understandings.

Sorry.  But Fck! BTC, ETH, DASH.  Beyond this classes reach.  But a few dollars invested gains sizable hands in 100s of solid networks.

Farm that out to their LOCAL area, friends and neighbors and village elders, and suddenly goat herders have access to a greater financial system, in an instant!

It is already happening.  But the high-end coins are too distracting.  Still STEEM has already been hijacked by subsistence banana farmers.  That's a major clue.

You teenage assholes in the first-world blew all your stacks on strippers.

1290  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [TGC][ANN] Relaunch Tigercoin - Official thread on: March 14, 2017, 02:23:14 PM
Tiger is ideal for the stick ASIC miners.  Likely to start having $1500 retail units looking for ALT sha256d options too!

If TGC bounces up too high gain some capital for a BE and a few seeder nodes.  No?

Other than that ... a nice amateur project with a solid history and clean code.  In time, age of chain will be a matter of importance.  Maintain baseline support.  Not a difficult effort for a mature chain, which BTC is not!

TALK is focused on this.  Building a none centralized team of validated players.  Loose-knit at the start.

I am not CTO material, but in this case, TALK is not seeking to build a singular sophisticated network, rather just network Wink

Re: Do all coins offer something unique?
Of course they do, they all offer a unique community.  No 2 coins are distributed the same.

Next silly question in 3.....2.....1....

bump THIS ^

There is still alot of junk, also the mingling of ICO non-coins (assets class).

If crypto is going to be 'decentralized' then there need be 100s if not 1000s of independent block chains.

The BTC-maxi-pads can huff and puff but the ALTs are here to stay, and there will be more.

The issue is shit that pumps for 3 weeks then fades to black.  Slowly that is being mopped out.  There are dozens of fair enough launch and release projects that any solid 'community' can maintain and keep online.

It takes active participation.  If you are just looking to throw money at a project then stay in the top20 and good luck!

UNO now is in the new Alt19+ Index.
UNO is one of time proven coins with an active community and low inflation,

trading volume over the last 30 days is $ 70'569 (Cryptopia), $ 15'430  (Bittrex)
monthly inflation rate is at 0.01 %
according to AltcoinMagic.com.

alt19

Alt19+ Index has evolved well in time.  Good to see UNO listed, hopefully it can index several dozen UN-pairs in the near future Wink

Oh, what a lovely day!!

There's nothing to worry about with the Cryptsy Uno, imo. I know the buyer(s) well, and I will be allowed to share more of the details when this entire debacle is behind us.

I have solid assurances the UNO will not be dumped deep to wreck our markets, nor will the mother of all sell walls suddenly appear.

In fact, the wallet is already working for you. It was part of the reason Uno will get a second chance as a base coin at Cryptopia.
I think you'll find the buyer has a particular interest in Uno and hopes to "lift all ships," including his/her original stake.

In general I think we are due for a steady slow stress test.  My sudden realization is UNO is 99.9% about building floors.  We are a brotherhood of carpenters.  The integrity of our work is proving solid foundations.  Then building up.

I don't know what the buyer will do (congratulations to them by the way!), but we will soon see.

At least the Cryptsy uncertainty is over now. Whether they store them all in a wallet, sell some, or sell all, it's probably better for investor confidence than the funds moving with uncertainty between exchanges and attorneys.

Still though, $5,000 for $25,000 of coins, that buyer must be dancing down the sidewalk this month.

congratulations!  Really.  I spent the day reviewing the paper work.  And I read that all 3 piles likely went to friendly hands.   Exhibit A had the high bid, and mopped up at least $80k of mostly viable coins.  [They maybe the only vultures]  But my guess is that they where defending some Bullion of their own.   Exhibit B was the deadwood to Greenwood, good on them.   And Exhibit C was specifically saved from Exhibit A.  Clearly a white knight.  Yeah perhaps the deal of a lifetime, but nobody is calculating the time/effort required to strike that kind of bargain with a State's Attorney.

1 parts LUCK.  3 parts KARMA.

The uncertainty is over now.  YES!  Uno was screaming get out of cryptsy well in advance of it being clearly shady.  Nobody has ever confessed to leaving a large lot on bigVs servers.  And all the evidence suggests that the UN investigative team reclaimed mostly -if not all- of Verns personal stash via Bittrex (he even was priming a pump for the dump).  Block Tech Forensics.  It will be a TV series.

IMO.  This large lot went from Vern's blackhand.  To state officials.  And is now held by UNO friendly very significant crypto players.

Oh, what a lovely day!!

The challenge, then, is to find the right group!
1296  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: SMART Coin Observer on: March 14, 2017, 10:49:52 AM
So I've been looking at Ontological Web Languages (OWL) for a bit now and am curious about all of your thoughts.  I am looking currently at the BOScoin project (https://www.boscoin.io/?page_id=14)  which is using OWL for its smart contract system that operates on the blockchain as well as large portions of the chain itself.  On their site they include a comparison and list of attributes that OWL grants:

Likewise, the BOScoin OWLchain uses a Timed Automata Language (TAL) to help the chain speed up and have more deterministic outcomes allowing for more efficient compute times and faster transaction times.

Their summary of TAL is as follows:

"""
OWL, which is a language for knowledge representation(KR), does not support the computational power needed for processing the blockchain. In the case of Ethereum, the computing capacity required for processing Smart Contract is resolved by implementing the turing complete Ethereum virtual machine(EVM). However, the method of using virtual machines will result in the undecidability of the blockchain, which is not resolved in terms of security aspects of the blockchain network. We use the Timed Automata Language execution environment in a manner that considers the computational power and decidability. The timed automata ensures that all programs base on the timed automata is guaranteed to operate in a finite time limit. Timed Automata Language(TAL) is a programming language designed to support the computational functionalities within a range that do not impair the integrity of the blockchain. Instead of supporting turing completeness, TAL provides the computational power through a finite automata model.
"""

So I was wondering if anyone else here has looked into OWL as both a programming language or been in involved with TAL development/research or looked into the most public implementation project at the moment, BOScoin.  Likewise any further reading about Web Ontologies and the tech in general would be great.

On OWL : https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Web_Ontology_Language
On TAL : https://www.cis.upenn.edu/~alur/TCS94.pdf

[FACTS] Litecoin is the only legit Altcoin ! author=Spoetnik

LTC is the only legit alternative currency.
All the others are bullshit like clones or anon coins or not a currency at all.

Prime Coin, Grid Coin get a worthy mention though.

1. ETH ... what is it ?
An "APP's" platform

ARK MADNESS

If only there was no such as on Lisk. Big rise, and then prolonged fall.

I think the fall of Lisk is slow development. It's seem to have nothing at this point after 1 year, app wise.
Ark already have everything stable before the mainnet launch, this took Lisk almost 1year to have. They also already have 200tx/s(TPS). This is the reason I'm interested in ARK.
