1281  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: ETF Rejected on: March 13, 2017, 06:53:39 AM
Where are you guys waiting for $200 or $500? is bitcoin supposed to be in hands of peers and transferred by peers or by ETF approved companies?
Another well performed tactic from bitcoin and yet another proof of it being manipulation/speculation free.
Just checked the price and it was a WOW moment for me. Great that the price had held its own, I feel bitcoin is stronger than ever now and is getting strong too. Stability will make many more people invest in bitcoin which means the price is going to go higher.

Of course the price wasn't effected. Currently the Bitcoin price is almost solely and completely controlled by the Chinese. Why would the Chinese care at all about the approval or disapproval of an American exchange traded fund?

I think you're a closet perv BADecker. I think you're duggering all of us.

1283  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: ETF Rejected on: March 12, 2017, 07:59:55 PM
I thought it will be approved by SEC but im wrong. Now that the ETF was not approved by SEC. I see small dump. I dont see that the rejection on ETF is massive. We fall only $100 and thats not really huge. Thats how strong bitcoin is. People cannot be fooled easily. They're getting matured now.
That proves that the price of bitcoin is not dependent upon one single news and even i was surprised because when there was a news coming out of China we could see a dip in price and this time around we heard a news from China that the restrictions with bitcoin will continue and the ETF is rejected and still the price only declined by $100 which really surprised me .

I notice that also that there is only a slight decline. There are expectations that it will reach $800 dollars dip after the SEC disapproval, but it did not happen. It only means that bitcoin is still stronger and still not dipping below $1000 dollar mark.

I was also ready for a big price cut. I prepared to buy bitcoins. But I did not have time to buy them, because the price rebounded very quickly. While I was sleeping, she almost returned to the mark of 1100 dollars. This suggests that bitcoin is very stable

I don't think it's possible for US news to change the price by much because most of the Chinese speculators that are controlling the price right now don't speak or read engrish.
1284  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin and Fraud on: March 12, 2017, 07:36:05 PM
Assuming a merchant accept Bitcoin,

You as a shopper, place an order, and that merchant did not deliver, or sent to the wrong address, or sent a fake product.

You can not reverse the payment, you can get your bitcoins back, and the only thing you can do it leave a negative feedback.

Of course, there are many other scenarios, like phishing websites, fake websites, selective scams, and so on

What are your thoughts and ideas to prevent these scams.

Think of Bitcoin as the anti-PayPal.

Paypal protects consumers at the expense of the seller. Businesses get screwed over buy PayPal all the time but it's great for the consumer. The upside is that average consumers are more likely to trust startups and sellers with no or limited history because PayPal will protect them if something goes wrong. It's good for new sellers too because they can get an easier start.

Bitcoin protects sellers at the expense of consumers. Consumers get screwed over buy Bitcoin businesses all the time (don't call me out and make me list businesses like Butterfuck labs to prove a point because I can list two pages of them) but it's great for the seller because they can't have a shady customer reverse their payment after they receive their product. The upside is startups and sellers with limited capital can avoid losing money to scamming consumers. It's bad for sellers though because consumers may be hesitant to trust or use businesses with limited history.

Holliday was right, everyone needs to use the system that works for them.

As for a consumer solution to the problems you list there are only a few. Escrow is one of them, using a business that's regulated by a responsive government is another but Russian consumer roulette is what most people have used historically. Sometimes you lose. Just don't spend much money at once using Bitcoin so you're not out much if you get screwed. Oh, don't think you're safe if you use a big company either. I have had an open investigation with Overstock.com for a long time about .95btc I sent them and never received the product.
1285  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Winklevoss ETF update, what does this mean? on: March 12, 2017, 07:01:38 PM
I think people are missing the point of what the SEC said so I'll clean that meaning up for you:

Quote
Based on the record before it, the Commission believes that the significant markets (all the crooked exchanges and scammer businesses) for bitcoin are unregulated. Therefore, as the Exchange has not entered into, and would currently be unable to enter into, the type of surveillance-sharing agreement (no one can know what tricks the manipulators are using world wide) that has been in place with respect to all previously approved commodity-trust ETPs—agreements that help address concerns about the potential for fraudulent or manipulative acts and practices in this market (con-artists can run rampant in bitcoin markets and we will never know it until it's too late, and like with MtGox, we may know and try but can't really do anything because the scumbags are hiding in a foreign country).
1286  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Open Letter to GMaxwell and Sincere Rational Core Devs on: March 12, 2017, 06:07:26 PM
so trainwreck wants to halt developmnt and the have core set up as the regulator to stop anyone else from development..

and he doesnt think thats centralising the project as a FIAT. and only allow the coins to be openly distributed (via contracted LN services that require counterparty signing (banks))

....
45 pages of failed attempts to try nashifying people.. just to attempt to make people(wrongly) think that centralising bitcoin into a controlled centralist currency is good?

seriously!!

looks like brain washing to me
'if i throw economists quotes at a crowd 800 times people will think they need to be controlled by economics and code that becomes closed off and regulated by core.. rather than grow and be revolutionary open code currency beyond the mindset of FIAT

ehh let him think whatever he wants.  I doubt that much of what Nothing that is said on bitcointalk really ever affects the miners' anyone's decisions because people only care about profit, least of all this thread.

1287  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Winklevoss ETF update, what does this mean? on: March 12, 2017, 06:14:54 AM
Tooooooo risky. Did you read the prospectus? If I was risking client money, I think I would risk their money on Somali oil reserves before this ETF.

I don't think that the ETF-specific risks will be large enough to matter. I mean, they have a large enough amount of bitcoins and it's relatively trivial to make a tracking ETF. Speculating in a volatile commodity/currency like Bitcoin is very risky per se - but if you are willing to stomach that risk, I don't think that speculating in a Bitcoin-tracking ETF would be significantly riskier.

All of this is a moot point anyway. I don't see this ever getting past the SEC.

Wow QuestionAuthority, you were right about this over two years ago. Here's the disapproval notice and what the SEC had to say about Bitcoin:

https://www.sec.gov/rules/sro/batsbzx.htm

Quote from: SEC ruling
Based on the record before it, the Commission believes that the significant markets for
bitcoin are unregulated. Therefore, as the Exchange has not entered into, and would currently be
unable to enter into, the type of surveillance-sharing agreement that has been in place with
respect to all previously approved commodity-trust ETPs—agreements that help address
concerns about the potential for fraudulent or manipulative acts and practices in this market—the
Commission does not find the proposed rule change to be consistent with the Exchange Act.
1288  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What time tomorrow(friday) can we expect a BTC ETF announcement from the SEC? on: March 10, 2017, 06:30:30 PM
It will be really easy to find out if it was approved. If approved, Cumstain and Tyloser Winkledouche will be all over the media bragging about the one great investment they made out of dozens of losers. If not approved - deafening silence.
1289  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Train, Next stop, parity with the NASDAQ? on: March 10, 2017, 06:18:15 PM
You know what happens after a commodity rapidly soars in price?

1290  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Accusations of Paid Shills on: March 10, 2017, 06:12:37 PM
I think OP is a butthurt paid shill.
1291  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: To those who says Bitcoin is too expensive for a virtual item on: March 10, 2017, 06:07:55 PM
Too expensive? That's crazy. Just because total strangers, 8,000 miles away, gambling on Bitcoin price like they play PaiGow, that don't care at all about the ideals behind Bitcoin, living in the most oppressive country in the world are controlling the price and can lose thousands of dollars of my money overnight, why would I think it's too expensive?

1292  Economy / Speculation / Re: What has affected the price of Bitcoin? on: March 10, 2017, 05:57:09 PM
I'm not really sure what's moving the price of Bitcoin?

1294  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Do you believe in god? on: March 07, 2017, 10:43:28 PM
I don't believe in God not only because there is no evidence of its existence, but also because a lot of wars started for religious reasons and one is not punished is no God.
Belief in God is not a belief in a being, but a feeling that keeps a person within the human framework.

Some people understand that God exists, just like the person on the other side of the table exists.

Belief in God has more to do with accepting what He tells us as truth.

Cool

That's the first realistic thing you've said. Believing in god requires that you just believe what is written down regardless of how unbelievable or silly it might sound.
1295  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Open Letter to GMaxwell and Sincere Rational Core Devs on: March 05, 2017, 03:05:29 AM
I can't believe I read this whole thread. What a fucking waste of time. OP has no clue what bitcoin is, how it operates, what devs do, how the security system works (mining) or how complex macroeconomic systems really are. The rest of you remind me of the meme below.

There's nothing wrong with a pump-n-dump scheme. Bitcoin has been used as a p-n-d many times. I've made a lot of money manipulating stupid people into paying more for something than it's worth (I used to work in real estate where it's a normal practice). Bob/Patrick/Steven or whatever took advantage of stupid people, so what? That's a normal day at Century 21 or CB Richard Ellis. People are supposed to be noble and honest because it's cryptocurrency? Oh, please. What screws most people is their own greed. A fool and his money are soon parted is the name of the game.
Was that supposed to be an analogy, or did you mean you have manipulated stupid people in crypto?

I never had to manipulate people in bitcoinland. There's so many people doing it here it's almost cliché. I did make a shit ton of coins shilling for BitSwift (Timeshare coin) under another nick but that doesn't count because I don't consider the altcoin crowd as real crypto people. Bitcoin people want to make a better world by screwing the establishment and big banking. Altcoin people just want to make a quick buck because they're butthurt over not being bitcoin early adopters. Altcoin "get rich quickers" get what they deserve.

How really retarded are you? Nobody rots and gets eaten by maggots.

Before you use the restroom, the stuff that you get rid of there is part of you. But after you use the restroom, that stuff isn't part of you anymore... when it rots and if it gets eaten by maggots.

You are mistaken when you think that the stuff left over and buried in the cemetery is the person.

Perhaps you should take less brandy or whiskey in your coffee.

It's interesting how people have great difficulty accepting they are Gods that sh*t. Look how everybody sprays on perfume or roll-on deodorant or antiperspirant. It is mostly almost impossible for people to acknowledge they are full of sh*t, all of us. Even the air around them, some people have to keep on "refreshing", to no avail of course. We all have that stank and always will do. Just a few centimetres from your fragranced skin, rests in tubes round about 23 feet of stinking sh*t, moving slowly towards the exit. But even as you get rid of it, more will come - it's inevitable and unavoidable - unless you want to die strait away (and rest assured the maggots will eat the dead you). Just accept the truth once and for all and believe - we are the sh*tting Gods of this Earth.

The difference between a person the moment before he is dead, and then after he is dead, is very slight. But that difference exists. Since there is a difference, it is not the person after he is dead. It’s just some remains that were once part of him.

Cool

Why don't you kill yourself (or hire someone to kill you) and go to heaven?

Several reasons.
1. God says to not murder.
2. I am personally adverse to doing something like this.
3. If I stay, I have opportunity to help others get into Heaven, and my reward will be an eternity of praise from God.
4. My example will help others do the same as I do, but if it works in an opposite way, that's their own doing, not mine.
5. I have friends and family who don't want to see me go yet.
6. Even if I last a thousand years, I'll still get that eternity of Heaven.

But, it is easy to see why YOU don't go out and kill yourself and get it over with. Staying alive here keeps you out of eternal hellfire. So, reconsider, while you have the chance. Because life shows us that death is inevitable.

Cool

So, you won't do it because you have daddy issues and need lots of praise. Wouldn't it be easier to see a therapist for a few years? At least then you'd have the rest of your life to use without these daddy issues.
