You absolutely shouldn’t be investing in what you do not understand. For every singular story like this there’s a million where people invested their money in things that they didn’t understand in which backfired on them and lost considerable sums.

He made the right call. I often see clients investing in equities or debt instruments that they don’t understand and I’ll never understand what drives them to want to invest so blindly, other than greed and ignorance.
1282  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Seniors vs Kids — in the future of Bitcoin on: July 04, 2023, 11:11:15 PM
Kids are the future of everything, not just bitcoin. Seniors are typically much more conservative, and unwilling to learn or change the way they do things.  Of course right now seniors have more of an impact on bitcoin than children do because after all children aren’t working a 9 to 5 and bringing home the bacon, so to speak. So if they’re not buying bitcoin their not contributing a whole ton. But, they eventually will and will help bring forward a lot of change in this type of realm.

San Antonio can be a good place for an old Damian Lillard, when the number 1 draft diamond boy learning from him. The only thing that prevent this to happen its San Antonio never had a star player on hiw file, and yes tim duncan parker ginobili were stars but they are formed in San Antonio.
And DL its more individual player than collective.

That would be a lot of fun to see those two play together, but I do t think I see Lillard wanting to go there. Sure they got Greg Popavich who’s an absolutely legendary coach whom is revered by players, but I think it’s going to take more than one sensational (potentially) rookie for them to win a championship.

I would expect him to go to a little bit more mature of a team. But he’s also not a free agent so thats obviously going to hurt his shot at going yo the teams he really wants to.

34 years of top tier HOF QBs, expect Love to make a 180 & become a HOFr too. Our luck.
If that were to happen that will surely put the Bears as the team with the worst QB luck ever, after all before Fields which was the best Bears QB ever? Jay Cutler? Jim McMahon? A guy that played 70 years ago or so?

If Love turned out to be a HOF that would mean the Bears would had to face four to five decades of masterful QB play, not even the AFC East faced that kind of nightmare scenario with Brady.

It’s insane but yes, statistically speaking, Jay Cutler is the best quarterback the Chicago Bears have ever had. I mean that’s just insane, and sad for Bears fans like myself.

I surely don’t expect Love to be the caliber of Favre or Rodgers (very few ever have been). I am praying that Fields comes out and finally gives us that quarterback that we’ve been so desperately searching for. I would say that they probably already have the worst luck ever in terms of QB play. They are one of the original teams too.
1285  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: DISCUSSION-How hard is it to beat a sportsbook? on: July 04, 2023, 10:57:50 PM
Lol, if you’re making a “really nice” living, then I’d say it’s probably not time for you to change professions.  Sports books haven’t become “soft”, that’s not the right word to use here at all, they’ve simply become more conservative having learned from their past mistakes.

It’s true some operate out of places like the British Virgin Islands that harbor criminals and criminal activity. This is why you simply don’t use them.

Lol, 82 NBA games aren't as demanding on a body as 17 NFL games.  It's a gladiator sport, with a ball thrown into the mix just for fun.

Mmm yes you have a good point here but, how do you can maintain that point when the brother sport of NFL (rugby) play the whole year , and also they dont make changes constantly between ofensive and defensive players. NFL games have ton of rest between efforts. Before anyone think im understimating the effort of NFL players, its huge and one of the most powerfulls when they have to make the strenght.

NFL has 18 weeks, recently having added another, and are likely to add one more game on soon. NFL football is more demanding than Rugby. There’s no possible way you can play that sport year round. The season is loaded with injuries, often times injuries that take 8-12 months to heal.  Also, adding shoulder pads and helmets help deliver blows to the body. Often times players get their “bell rung” several times a game. This is when your vision goes black (you’re blind) and you have what looks like a bolt of lightning go down the middle of this black “vision”, so to speak. These are mini concussions. Full on concussions also happen often to players and is absolutely horrific on the brain. A brain disorder, CTE (short version of the name) was recently discovered by a Dr. This is like what boxers get when they get punched in the head so many times. It often leads to many different types of mental health issues,  including many suicides.  The off-season is needed.  The NFL is by far America’s number one sport, they make plenty of money with what games they have.

I can't believe we're only a month away from a cursory preseason teaser, and only six weeks away from unofficial football.  To be honest, I haven't missed it.  I'm glad that this thread has been largely active all off-season, happy to see you guys are enjoying it.  But I just haven't had the heart heart for it.

After the 49ers' last game I began questioning reality.  Is this life real, or am I living in matrix-like experimental reality where cruelty is inflicted on test-subjects through chemically induced highs and lows as hallucinations of football and women?

I don't know, I just don't know.

Lol, you think you’ve got it bad, try being a Chicago Cubs and Bears fan. Yes the Cubs finally got one in 2016 but are back to being terrible and the Bears haven’t last won since 1985, and I was a year old, so obviously I didn’t get to enjoy it lol.

Rogers is out of their division so they should be good to go now. Wink

34 years of top tier HOF QBs, expect Love to make a 180 & become a HOFr too. Our luck.

Niners are good, but you can’t be that shocked by the outcome..Patrick Mahomes is just unreal. Y’all still got a good team. The QB situation certainly is an interesting one.

I’m the opposite, football season is so by far my favorite time of year, I go in to a slight depression day 1 without it 🤷‍♂️
1288  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: The fight between Mark Zuckerberg and Elon Musk. Who you betting on? on: July 02, 2023, 09:39:16 PM

But do you think that these guys need to marketing anything they do with a boxing fight or MMA fight? I mean when Zuckerberg and Musk announce a project, what else is required in your opinion to have a successful marketing campaign for whatever they could be planning?

Surely, they don’t need to market anything and spread word about it with a fight. Whenever any of them tweet or posts anything, that’s marketing enough and it would reach millions of people worldwide in minutes like you also noted.
You’re also right when you say this proposed fight is very unrealistic as this is a fight that would now be speculated and talked about but would never become a reality. Whatever the case may be, both men actually have nothing to gain with this fight.

That is what is important. They have nothing to gain from that fight. Literally, nothing comes to my mind that would be a net positive for either of them if they slap their faces and smash each other to the ground. They must be both be laughing about the Internet crowd and how a lot of people believed this back and forth of public messages between them could eventually lead to a serious fight in a cage or something! Cheesy If money was an issue for one of them, I am sure that such a fight would solve that issue. Cheesy Just for fun, think about how many people would pay a little fee to see the live event in a stream. The income from pay per view shares would be insane... But they don't need the money. Wink

Yeah, I guarantee this “fight” is never going to happen. The only thing that makes me think there might be a teeny tiny chance is the fact that both of them are massive egotistical narcissists, so I can see if one really wants to fight and starts to call out the other, then maybe their egos will get the best of them.

If they do fight, any way they could both lose, works for me Smiley

Yeah I’ve gotten the auto-renew notification for all my leagues. We are just about 2 months out now.

Currently doing my first ever dynasty draft, which I’ve wanted to do for a long time now.

I had pick 9, and it’s a 12 man league. It’s a league that has an “offensive position” spot which means you can plug any player in it, which also means it’s technically a 2 QB league.

I snagged Fields pick 9 (my first). Hard call between him, Watson and Lawrence.

Came back on the turn and snagged Breece Hall. I really wanted 2 other RBs , but it’s dynasty and need youth. Just praying he comes back decently healthy.

Hope y’all having a good week/weekend, especially if in the US - Happy 4th. I’m going in day 4 of having no power. Central IL got rocked by 4 tornados and straight line winds. Word is I may not have power until Tuesday, if then. Ruining my week long vacation. Sweet! Lol. Cheers.
1290  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Let's find out which gambling game is the most played among our community... on: July 01, 2023, 07:33:41 PM
Wow, I am surprised to see that’s sports betting is by far the most gambled upon game with us bitcointalkers. For me, I feel like I have the most advantage when I bet on day NFL football. Im good at poker, but playing online is not fun for me plus to win a poker tournament you’ve really got to be committed to sitting down and playing for hours on end.

I love roulette, poker, slot machines etc..but sports gambling is my bread and butter.
1291  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How is your Gambling Pattern Like? on: July 01, 2023, 07:20:13 PM
The important thing for me, and what I’ve taught myself, is that I shouldn’t ever have a “pattern” for when I’m placing sports bets (this makes up the vast majority of my gambling). For me I simply place bets when I feel confident in the teams I’m placing bets on. I rarely ever force it, just to get some “action”, unless it’s like a huge game such as the superbowl.
1292  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: July 01, 2023, 07:16:35 PM
Wow, just saw the news that Damian Lillard has requested a trade out of Portland. I mean can you blame the guy? He’s been one of the best players in the league since he entered and has been one of the best shooters I’ve ever seen, dude is just a killer.

I can’t wait to see where he might go.

Fee VanVleet signing with Houston was an interesting one. Wanted him in Chicago badly.
1293  Economy / Collectibles / Re: Interesting privnote issue on: July 01, 2023, 07:01:47 PM
Also this may not belong in collectables, but it’s the only part of the forum I frequent. Sorry if it needs to be moved.

It’s collectible related. When posts like this come up, I will usually post on two boards. Like I will post the main thread on here then in the scam section I’ll write something in the title like “Fake Privnote website once again” and then in the body of the post I’ll just write “see original post here” and provide a link. Sometimes posts should be in two places, and moderators have always been fine with it when it makes sense.

I remember when this happened originally. It popped up on google before the real site. These scammers are pretty decent.

Have you checked any of the address just to see how much money they’ve stolen so far? I’d be curious to see those addresses.
1294  Economy / Collectibles / Re: These are the physical crypto brands that PCGS currently grades on: July 01, 2023, 06:55:39 PM
NGC grade some of them?

Nope. Tread93 here on BitcoinTalk knows the owner, or has at least met/spoken with the owner and asked him why they don’t grade/slab physical cryptocurrency coins and he stated “we only grade real coins”. Tread then said, well you slabbed those McDonalds Big Mac coins, and he replied “those are really nice coins”.

Even if they start opening up grading for these coins, I’m going elsewhere..despite imo the NGC slabs being the best slabs by far.
1295  Economy / Economics / Re: Am I a bad person if I manage to avoid taxes? (Hypothetical question) on: June 29, 2023, 09:56:34 PM
The way I see it, some taxes are fair and everyone should be paying their fair share, but some taxes are absolutely wrong and I have no moral issues when people try and get past them.  Like one of my good buddies who lives in India, they charge 40% tax on precious metals/stones of any type when you import them in..40 fucking percent!  That's insane, and it's wrong.  I know much of Europe is like this too.

It's ugly, so, sometimes I feel it's okay, and it's getting past bullshit.
1296  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoins and it's potential on: June 29, 2023, 09:54:32 PM
I hear you and feel you on all of this, but that's the problem, is that many governments are doing anything they can to try and get their citizens to stop using bitcoin because it goes against their centralized money system, and lets be frank about it, it's hurting them.  Decentralization of money, as a financial advisor, is the best thing to happen to money.  This is what got me interested in bitcoin in the first place back in 2014
1297  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: June 29, 2023, 09:52:10 PM
Now that CP3 is on the Warriors, I think so too that he will be in the starting line-up but that won't be long as they cannot afford to lose CP3 via injury and will just let him rest in-between or where the Warriors needed him the most.
He'll surely be in the starting line up, the Warriors won't spend millions on him on this trade if he won't be on the starting five. We'll get to see those days if it happens as he's an injury prone player.

But at least on this matter, GSW got someone who would take care of the job and will have the assist for open shots for Klay and Steph.

He's the one to take care of it.
I thought they were getting him as a backup so I’m surprised that they’re planning to have him alongside Steph and Klay. That’s a pretty small and not very athletic 3 players. Not to mention Green is undersized and aging. I’m not sure what kind of basketball they’ll be playing, but they won’t be getting very many rebounds while doing it.
They have already won enough titles, so maybe they are trying to see something different with the age. Curry and Klay are not young neither, they can't play that fast pace shoot the ball as soon as possible basketball anymore, that small ball line up thing is getting older, if they were maybe like 5 years younger then it would have worked better but they are getting older as well.

People see Lebron and think he is old and do not remember that Curry is 35 years old as well, that's very old in basketball terms most of the time, sure some players play as old as 40 years old, but that doesn't make 35 a young age, and he will be 36 before playoffs starts as well. That's quite an old age and none of the players they have is young anymore. So maybe they are looking for a new system with old players, something more calm and slow.

Yeah that's true about Curry, I completely forgot he was that old already.  I still remember seeing him all over the news for taking Davidson so far like he did in the NCAA basketball tournament/march madness years back..it actually makes me sad to think about because it feels like that was just yesterday lol

I can't stand the guy personally, all that mouth piece chewing, but one hell of a shooter. Best ever..but yeah he can do the run and gun like he used to.
1298  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: who Want To Bet On 2024 USA elections? on: June 29, 2023, 09:49:31 PM
Who will be the candidates anyway? I don't trust both party but one will win eventually. Good presidents do their second terms, like Obama, and bad presidents can't do, like Trump. I don't think Biden fit in both categories. He wasn't bad but he's too old to re-elect, I don't even think he will be a candidate again. I have to see DP's candidates first.

It seems that in the next election, Biden will again face Trump and this will again be a fairly hot election, considering that these two pairs are people full of controversy. It will be quite difficult to choose who will win, whether Biden or Trump, but considering Biden's declining health, this will be a good chance for Trump to regain his position and remove Biden from his position as president.

If a rematch between those two actually happen, then I am afraid it won't be an election to choose the best person for the charge of the presidency of the United States, but rather to choose the lesser evil.

I personally think that Biden's health won't have any influence on the results of the election, mostly because it seems that there is no serious democrat who is willing to challenge Biden in the primaries and even if there was, none of them would dare to talk about Biden's health, for democrats that is rather a taboo.

I've been trying to figure out if I want to be this election, but there's so much unknown now that I'm starting think I'm not going to risk my money.  I thought for sure that Hilary Clinton was going to beat Trump and look how that turned out.  So, it's sadly going to be a re-match but no clue how it's going to go.  The one thing I do know, and agree with you on, it's a lesser of two evils. Sadly
1299  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Bet on live game or while game hasn't started yet? on: June 29, 2023, 09:46:24 PM
I honestly didn't even know that you could bet on games after they went live until just a couple years ago.  My thing is, if I feel a certain team's spread is too high, I'll try and bet if the other team starts to close that spread gap early in the game, this way I can't get a better spread to go on.  That being said, there's a good amount of time where this strategy doesn't work out so it's a tricky thing.
