12801  Economy / Economics / Re: Blockchain — A Libertarian Socialist Revolution on: March 09, 2018, 02:14:06 PM
Socialism is against everything bitcoin is doing.

Socialism is based on a fully centralized society, where the State owns all production assets and industries, and controls the money.

Bitcoin is a liberal anarchist concept, basically opposed to this idea. Bitcoin give power to individuals as they no longer need a central authority that controls money supply.

Labor relations will stay the same.
I support your opinion, but it's not quite true. Under socialism in Russia there was a period of NEP (new economic policy). At this point, private ownership of the means of production was allowed, but this applies only to small entrepreneurs. This policy helped to quickly rebuild the economy destroyed after the revolution and the civil war. Bitcoin users will gladly work with Fiat. Bitcoin is more like a NEP period.

This  NEP was known to be "one step back to give 2 steps foward".
They just allowed some capistalists concepts for a period of time, otherwise the economy would collapse.

This happens a lot in my country (Brazil). We stay many years in a very closed economic regime, and when inflation is about 100-1000% a year, unemployment and poverty are taking over, they allow a small liberalism for a few years so they people can breath, work and eat, and then we go back to those dark socialist years...

PS: I made a small edit in the previous post before i saw your post.

Those companies that are doing ICO have profits the same way as before. They are not being funded in the stock market anymore, like an IPO, instead they are getting funded through Ethereum and Bitcoin. That's revolutionary in the way that financial relations are being more decentralized and less regulated. And individuals can now invest in a company anywhere in the world without almost any bureaucratic  regulation .

This is a way to move a small part of the financial system out of the stock market.

That idea is against to basically all socialists ideas and propositions through histoy.

12804  Other / Serious discussion / Re: Is it illegal to create cryptocoins? on: March 09, 2018, 12:36:45 PM
I never understood why "Satoshi Nakamoto" had to hide for creating Bitcoin. It is nothing more than a programming code.
Apparently in the United States and many other countries it is illegal to issue your own currency, but for a long time Bitcoin has not been considered a currency, it simply was not regulated.

If the legislation has not changed, how is it possible that new cryptocurrencies are now appearing every day? If a project issues a token to finance its ICO, is not it issuing currency illegally?

Now it seems that different countries are beginning to regulate cryptocurrencies, but the criteria differ in each country and even contradict each other jurisdictions, a sentence published by the Court of Justice of the European Union  in 2015 includes bitcoin within the category of "currencies, bank notes and currencies that are legal means of payment", therefore the Bitcoin is not illegal, which contradicts the criterion of the majority of governments of the European Union and institutions such as the European Central Bank, which do not consider virtual currencies as a means of payment.
Can something that is initially illegal be regulated?

Satoshi Nakamoto didn't hide or run away because he was doing something illegal.

He decide to keep himself anonymous for a greater good. If his identity  was a known he could be a problem for bitcoin. Bitcoin decentralization idea could be compromised, centralizing everything on him. Everything he says, every tweet he makes, everything he buys, would be linked to bitcoin.

Bitcoin should not have an owner, a face. One of the things that made bitcoin's success was satoshi's anonymity.

I think he what he did was a truly altruist attitude.

Regarding new created coins, it's not illegal in most countries. Depends on each country legislation

When the price is high, everyone is hoping that the price goes down so they can buy cheap.

But when the price goes down, everyone ask "Should I sell??"

12808  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Bitcoin stolen from Electrum wallet on: March 08, 2018, 08:49:00 PM
This discussion is nonsense.
Electrum is a very good initiative, but unless it is working on airgapped computer , even a linux, it doesn't share the same security as a hardware wallet.

And you can anytime recover your funds from any wallet, the only thing you need is the private key. This concern about going something wrong with the hardware, doesn't affect your funds. Your coins are in the blockchain, not in the hardware.

Personally i don't like Electrum (and this crazy seed only recognized by electrum, I didn't knew about that... well, i like it even less now)

If you use windows, you need to take a few precautions:

-Use Firefox latest version
-Download uBlock Extension + Decentraleyes Extension
-Download Malware bytes, updated it daily
-Use windows 10, updated it daily/weekly
-Before downloading anything try it here http://virustotal.com/
-Use windows defender updated.

These are very basically steps. If you had follows them, you wouldn't be infect... ublock will block most of those phishing sites and malware bytes will take care of the rest.

Inform Binance and show them all information you have (screenshots, keylogger, eletrum..)

Personally, i don't trust windows wallets. I prefer to use webwallets like blockchain.info or mobile wallets like coinomi or samourai. Even if you computer if infected, you probably woudn't be robbed....

Hardwallet are much better and should be used if you have more than 1 in my opinion.
12812  Other / Serious discussion / Re: Wife wants half of my cryptos and wants me to sell half of all our holdings now. on: March 08, 2018, 01:27:49 PM
Umm... Women problem, you should sell at least 25% of your crypto savings and give her the money that way you can have a peace of mind. The problem with women when it comes to money they lose their mind, and if don't provide the quick solution by giving them some you're going to be in serious trouble. I believe by now, you've learned a very good lesson; which is never show all your investments to a woman because the majority of them only know how to spend not to invest for long-term. Cheesy

This is an strategy, but I think in a marriage both should be clear with each other. I show my wife all my investments. I think that's important to give some financial education for you wife.
For the couple to prosper financially both need to be clear with each other, and respect each others decisions.

12813  Other / Serious discussion / Re: Wife wants half of my cryptos and wants me to sell half of all our holdings now. on: March 08, 2018, 01:21:25 PM
Hi.

So my wife wants me to sell half of my cryptos like right now.  We invested early last year.  She claims its half hers b/c I live in California and its half hers as community property.  She didn't put any money into it it was my hard earn money that I had to risk.

I'm a long term investor in the tech and starting to do comfortable small responsible trades.  No all in Yolo stuff just learning as I go and using small amounts.

She's fed up with our on paper loses in crypto losing a tad over half of our total max holdings since the bull run.  She can't handle the volatility in a bear trend.  She handled it much better in a bull run.

What should I do? Sell half to keep her happy despite i'll be selling in a bear market getting around halfway or close to Bottoms?

Should I do my best to fight back and force her to invest long term?

I tried my best to tell her think long term but it's not getting through to her.  She's just very upset about our on paper losses.  We argue over this a lot almost daily and I don't know what to do.

Any suggestions?

Look, everything depends on the relation between you too.

I am married too, and my wife has invested in crypto too, about 5% of our total crypto investment is her money. She is crazy about times to buy and sell... but i always convinced her about not selling.

Anyway, I think there are a few things that you should think about:
-Are you guys ok in your relation? Is she thinking about divorce? In a divorce situation half of it would be hers. Is that what she is thinking and trying to say?
-It's your money, you earned it and you invested in it. You don't need permission to buy crypto if you want. Does she asks you permition  to buy cloths? Why don't you ask her to sell her cloths if she wants money?

If she is thinking about divorce, and wants half, just sell all your crypto and buy Monero. 100% untraceable.
Tell her you lost all daytrading (give her 5-10% lol).

If you guys are ok and love each other, explain to her, convince her. Tell her she must trust you. She is may be overinvested, and someone who is overinvested don't make rational decisions.

In my opinion this looks like more a relation problem (about trust and freedom and interests) than an investment problem.
I suggest you take a look at this community in reddit, The RedPill. and this post about frame control. Make some fast reading, good thoughts about relationships in a male point of view.
12814  Local / Criptomoedas Alternativas / Re: Moedas pré-mineradas on: March 08, 2018, 12:37:19 PM
Moedas pré mineradas = centralização.

Quem pre minerou as moedas detem boa parte do marketcap.

Thanks to merit system...i have lost all hopes now to rank up any way close to Sr.Member or even Full member ever...i think the users like me are in huge disadvantage now...because i dont think many users care about giving merit to anyone...i think if givers are 10 and recievers are thousands or even more in the ratio..even if some day i get lucky and some one give me merit...it will take many decades to reach Sr.Member like that...
Also the fact that a user can give only half the merit he recieved and all those concepts i think are huge disadvantage for a user like me...
I know this issue has been raised many times and i shared my feeling which is this is really unfair for all the users like me

Look, there are a LOT of members, Sr. Members, Full Members and even legendary that don't know anything about bitcoin or any other cryptocurrency. They have tons of sMerit to give, and they can give to you if you show some knowledge or help them.

I was amazed how people with accounts from 2013, 2014 don't know very basic stuff. I am in cryptocurrency for only a year but I was amazed by the technology and the market, and I am eager to learn since day one. I am sad that I spent most of my time in Reddit and didn't create an account here before.

I believe that even if you don't know much, there are some things you know that can help many people. Maybe even a good question can earn some merit

There are many Legendary, Heroes etc with good heart and they award good posts.
Maybe you help some newbie, and a Legendary with tons of merit likes your post and gives you some sMerit.

But you need to try. Need to look for real uses for this forum.
12819  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: How to create a segwit wallet on: March 08, 2018, 01:57:51 AM
Segwit addresses are nothing but soft fork which solves the long debated scalability and malleability issue of the bitcoin. They just segregates or takes away the signature out of the transaction data, so that the signatures can't be changed at a later time to prevent the losing or stealing of btc. By this way a size of the transaction becomes lower and hence more transactions can be filled inside a block and increasing the transaction speed and there by reducing the fees.
Many of the wallets are opting for segwit day by day and the latest one being the Core wallet.

Wallets which support segwit addresses:

Hardware Wallets:
Hardware wallets has been a great deal of storage for people using cryptos. Nano Ledger and Trezor are the best wallets out there to store your crypto assets safely and first and quick in implementing newer stuffs. Not only they support segwits, they also allow you to change the fees of satoshis/byte.

Desktop Wallets:
When coming to desktop wallets, the best one will be the classic core wallet. But Core adopted segwit just this week and it is pretty new. You can also use Electrum for segwit supports, as they adopted segwits prior to core. Just go the official Core/Electrum website and download the latest version and set up the wallet.

Web/Mobile Wallets:
Green Address and Greenbits has been an early adopter of segwit and they are really secure. Greenbits was the first mobile wallet to implement segwit and if you need to try web wallet, go for Green Address.

Paper Wallets:
The classic way of storing coins in earlier days were Paper. If you are a paper wallet user, reach out for segwitaddress.org where you can create your own segwit wallet.

Good post.

I just want to add Samourai Wallet to mobile wallets list. Pretty good wallet.
