Freedom

Some people in this thread said this already and I agree with them. Bitcoin is FREEDOM.
12862  Economy / Economics / Re: Dissertation Ideas on: October 09, 2015, 05:29:00 PM
Some economists say that Bitcoin as a deflationary currency is unusable for an economy.

I'm not an econopmist so I don't know if this true or not, but I suggest you to explore the subject. I have a feeling that it might be interesting.  Smiley

12865  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin friendly Fidor Bank launched UK operations on: October 09, 2015, 01:22:18 PM

Good news for the UK bitcoin traders. It has been reported on few occasions that some of the major UK banks have been freezing/closing accounts because of bitcoin related transactions.

No need to worry anymore, officially Bitcoin-friendly Fidor bank has recently launched its UK operations. They offer free online current accounts (no monthly fees or minimum payments in), so it's perfect for transferring money to/from exchanges etc, or just as secondary account.

I've just registered with them and will give it a try. They don't do credit checks, but require verification by letter which can take up to 12 days. Currently they don't offer debit cards, but I emailed the customer support and they'll be launching cards soon.

Link: https://www.fidorbank.uk/

There's also referral program, if anyone wants to register through my ref link, much appreciated: https://banking.fidorbank.uk/register?ibid=84309762

That's a good news! Thanks for sharing! I wish more banks were like this one.

I'm wondering why they don't say they are Bitcoin friendly on the front page though. Are they ashamed of something?
12866  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do you believe we need more ways of advertising Bitcoin currency? on: October 09, 2015, 01:10:17 PM
Of course I do. I see some people here think that BTC has had alot of negative advertising already, but from my experience most of the people, I mean even educated people, still heard nothing about BTC. I know its hard to imagine that anybody still doesn't heard about BTC being on reddit or on bitcointalk, but take just one step outside  Smiley and you'll see it yourself.

Just one example from my life. Just yesterday I talked to a fried who studies Economy at the University and he told me that his lecturer, a professor, never heard about BTC. Can you imagine that? Professor of Economy! let alone simple people.
12867  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What do you feel about these situations on: October 09, 2015, 12:55:29 PM
1.Suppose you lose parley by 1 match
2.Suppose you earn little little Bitcoins by betting and make somehow 1 Bitcoin then lose it at just 1 match.
what will you do then try to recover your loss or just forget about it?

I'd just forget about it. It's a hard decision to make I know, but be strong. Many people (including me) lost trying to recover, so IMO bet for recover is a bad idea. Bet if you just want to play and then you may win, if you want make some money or you want to recover which is even worse, you'll lose most likely.

Thats from my experience, make your own decision of course.
12868  Economy / Speculation / Re: BITCOIN going up or down on: October 09, 2015, 12:46:10 PM
It was almost $250 several hrs ago. Now its $247,2. So BTC is a bit down, but my prediction $255 tomorrow.

BTC goes slowly UP. All who is selling right now will regret in the future.
12869  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Dorian Nakamoto giving AMA on Reddit on: October 09, 2015, 10:27:40 AM

Thanks for the link, good rea indeed.

I'm wondering how many people not from Russia aware of Stenka Razin? I think not much. So as former citizen of the Soviet Union I'm impressed.

"We should protect Bitcoin from take over by the few. Its function should flow free as the Volga River despite the centuries of Tsars, Mongols, Vikings, Swedes, and the Communist regime rule. We need to toss out any thinking of the apparent treasure in the boat over the the river as the Stenka Razin did to keep the boat rower and citizens free. Keep the flow free and wide.
The Stenka's men were able to trust him to navigate the river and to support the poor."
- Dorian Nakamoto

I don't mean of course that was the only good thing he said. There are many. Take a look.

All those tricks work untill they don't. I used to explore many strategies, they are all the same regarding to winning or losing, you can win some but if you don't stop in time you'll lose everything ... like always. )

12875  Economy / Speculation / Re: Do you have any plans if Bitcoin goes up to 300$? on: October 09, 2015, 06:42:40 AM
Better question: What would you do if btc goes to 150$!!!???!!!???!!!

If I'm not going to sell at $300 then I would definitely not sell at $150. To sell at 150 is the stupidest imaginable thing. If everyone would start selling at 150 this would kill BTC.

I think this is important, we should never sell at low price if we want BTC to stay alive. So in case the price goes down let's wait till the price goes up again which is good for us and good for BTC.
12876  Economy / Speculation / Re: Do you have any plans if Bitcoin goes up to 300$? on: October 08, 2015, 04:55:56 PM
Would you sell? Would you buy more? Depends on the speed it gets to that price?

Personally I doubt if I would convert them to cash or hold. What would you do and why?

If Bitcoin goes up to $300 I will not sell it because I think it's quite possible it goes higher and higher up to $1k (maybe not soon, maybe in two-three years but the price of BTC will be more than $1k I'm sure), but I wouldn't buy it either because I don't have much money to invest, I just live for the money I have.

But if you have millions of spare dollars I'd suggest to invest at least one of in BTC right now.
12877  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What is your Advice for a new Bitcoiner? on: October 08, 2015, 04:46:13 PM
From my own experience I have wasted my initial time and bitcoins with some HYIP and some doubling programs.
A new bitcoiner should believe in time to make bitcoin slow and steadily. If you want quick bitcoin then you may end up in vain of your efforts.

I did the same mistake when i was newbie in BTC world, the high profits made me blind, and wanted to get btc quickly. And of course i lost it quickly... I wont make the same mistakes again...

So working in faucets is waste of effort and time?
I do not think like that. But many people do not like the earnings from faucets. we must be wise in choosing faucets. May be after some time I too may hate faucet earnings.

I'd say YES, absolutely! Here's my experience with faucets(that was more than a year ago): I spent 3 months doing faucets 2-3 hrs a day. What did I earn after that exhausting work? The answer is less then 0.1. So it's up to you. If you think it's worth it then go for it, but I'm done with faucets.

12879  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Welcome To The Blockchain on: October 08, 2015, 04:08:23 PM
Nice song! Enjoyed it very much!

Here's the lyrics to it:

we're now standing on the precipice of a global revolution
of politics, economics, and government
welcome to the blockchain

verse 1:

power corrupts and money is power
the power to control the money is one that is now
in the hands of those who pretend we can't function without them
so how can we do something about it? (huh?)
working hard to get a raise, lifting that wage up
inflation takes it like a hidden taxation
manipulated interest rates to give the banks
a way to create money with the loans that they're giving out daily
that means our money is debt
gotta pay it back more than a hundred percent
it's no wonder then why the middle class is going under
when the one's above them gotta cover and come to collect
and many have no access to banking,
making payments, or saving, so more fees are taken
and everyday the gatekeepers are trying to stop change
we can not wait, welcome to the block chain

chorus:

welcome to the blockchain
things are about to change
open up the gates
systems get replaced
bitcoin
decentralize the trust
security, transparency
the network's run by us
bitcoin

verse 2:

bitcoin is a decentralized ledger
and the currency is its first enterprise ever
secured by the worldwide incentivized network
can't be stolen or controlled by any sized effort
you can send it anywhere and instantly
no one can intervene, no third party in between
there's no counterfeiting
algorithms control the outer limits of how many coins can get released
programmable money, no government can seize it
payments can be customized by sender and receiver
contracts can be written cementing your agreements
with terms that can't be bent once you consent then it completes it
autonomous businesses are possible
where profit is distributed amongst those adopting it
paradigm shift we must adjust to the ending
with the blockchain, bitcoin is just the beginning

chorus:

welcome to the blockchain
things are about to change
open up the gates
systems get replaced
bitcoin
decentralize the trust
security, transparency
the network's run by us
bitcoin

bridge:

now that we got control
we're not gonna let it go
my people all around the globe
we gotta keep building, building, building

now that we got control
we're not gonna let it go
my people all around the globe
we gotta keep building, building, building

chorus:

chorus:

welcome to the blockchain
things are about to change
open up the gates
systems get replaced
bitcoin
decentralize the trust
security, transparency
the network's run by us
bitcoin

Short on savings? You're not alone.

Twenty-eight percent of Americans have nothing in their savings accounts and another 21 percent don't even have a savings account, according to a new survey from GOBankingRates.

The rate comparison website surveyed 5,000 people and found just 29 percent of them had $1,000 or more in savings account.

...

Most financial advisors recommend that people have three to six months of essential expenses in an emergency fund to pay for unexpected costs. Sadly, it looks like most savers aren't following that advice whether they want to or not.

http://www.cnbc.com/2015/10/06/nearly-half-of-americans-have-no-savings-survey.html

Ok, it's nice to see that I'm not alone. I don't have savings at all.

A piece of advice for those who are worried about not having savings:

Live today, do not waste your time and money on preparing for "bad times" which might never come.
