12921  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: cash remains the only option if there's an emergency on: October 16, 2015, 04:08:51 PM
Wait if there was a flood wouldn't cash in the form of notes be useless and most shops these days only accept a certain amount of small change. In a situation like that maybe silver coins or gold coins would be a valid form of repayment guarantee.

Nah, notes are not damaged by water, you can trade underwater with them. And silver coins or gold coins may sink much faster than paper so notes are still good. )
12922  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why the commercial banks must hate bitcoin? on: October 16, 2015, 03:56:03 PM
i have positive thinking in this case
-they worried about bitcoin security, so many people say that saving money digital just will make you losing your money
-they think bitcoin is just a joke, they didnt take serious about bitcoin

haha, thats nice! but I think you are kidding right now.  Smiley All the banks care about is the profit, they don't give a s*** about people's security.
12923  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: My goal to earn 1,000bitcoins within 3years on: October 16, 2015, 03:13:52 PM
seems like the OP is missing so far. I guess he has given up on his goal?? how i wish he can carry on!!!
Op is missing and probably won't be coming back. I bet he wrote opening post while being drunk.
Because goal of winning 1000 BTC using just faucet money for it is simply not possible to achieve.

It's possible only if you believe it, I once turned 10k sats into 0.7 btc and those 0.7 into 2.5 after a break and then I stopped and cashed out because I was scared to lose them

I know its possible but it depends on luck, you cant do this using the same strategy as always. The site wont let you do that again and again plus you need really luck to make this happenes because faucets will never let you have big balance and mostly you will lose it after playing a couple of times. I can do 200 satoshi to 0.1 and that is once never hit it twice

Which site are you talking about? Because I don't know such sites. I saw in movies that some lucky players are not allowed to enter a Casino but I don't know if that's even true. )
12924  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What's stopping people from using bitcoin? on: October 16, 2015, 02:42:19 PM
So after reading this article and especially the ending:

Quote
One thing is for certain: having made Bitcoin less of a security worry, transparency will now be key in attracting users to new models, placing control of funds and fees in an upfront way in their own hands.

I'm wondering what's stopping people from using bitcoin?

And now I'm talking about people who already aware of bitcoin and how it works but still not using it.

The price is now pretty much stable for more then a year, security issues are out of the question - so why we can't see in 2015 more companies switching to it, especially considering the unstable condition of moden economy?

No, the price is not stable and that's one of the main reasons people avoid using BTC. If you are talking about more than a year period, the price was fluctuating from $177 to $430 per BTC. And that is not what's called stable.
12925  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What gambling site that you can earn 1 btc or profit 0.9 btc with invested 0.1? on: October 16, 2015, 09:03:09 AM
What gambling site that you can earn 1 btc or profit 0.9 btc  with invested 0.1 btc?
Im always lose my 0.1 to any gambling site. but sometimes i win if i win x2 in capital.
I just want to know who here that has a capital of 0.1 win x10 or nine in one day?

This is of course possible on many sites, PrimeDice and MagicalDice are included, but since еру games there are provably fair and they have the house edge which is 1% it depends entirely on your luck. I had 30-35 consecutive green rolls betting with 90% win chance on both of the sites, and that's 300-350% profit already. I have never had a 900% profit in one day, but I think it's possible. Depends on your luck and on your ability to stop in the right time.
12926  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Video: Solar-powered Bitcoin Mining farm on: October 16, 2015, 08:22:56 AM
I actually liked the built, a lot of people wonder about the "electricity" while they are running miners, ROI will be A LOT better with this.

Could you please explain why do you think this?

The only explanation I can see is that if you get all this solar power system for free.  Smiley

Considering that a solar power system like in the video might cost around US $3,000 - 3,500 or even more it would be pretty hard to get ROI fast.
12927  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Free electricity on: October 16, 2015, 07:15:41 AM
it depend now how much you're willing to invest, with free electricity buying the s7 would be dull, i would recommend the best cheap miners out there, unless you have problem with space in your room

the s3 should be good enough for this

I agree because one the advantages of s7 (and why it costs so much) is the more efficient power consumption than in cheaper models. Since you have free electricity you don't need s7 for 1823 USD. You can buy something much cheaper, some old, maybe even some used miners.
12928  Economy / Gambling / Re: Bitcoin Games Player vs Player on: October 16, 2015, 06:58:30 AM
Gambling that has Multiplayer?

There used be 1vs1 on primedice.. but no more.
Why they removed that option? |There was something wrong with it (possible exploits) or it was simply unpopular?

AFAIK they removed the pvp game because there were some players exploit it whenever there was happy hours. Something like playing pvp with their own alts to collect as many as btc.
But I could be wrong on this.

Yes, you are right. That is exactly the reason why they removed the pvp from dice gambling sites. The minimum tip is 50k sats, so thats not easy to make the 50k from faucet and then tip your alt with it, but with pvp you could transfer any amount to your alt immediately and then claim from the faucet again.
12929  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do you believe we need more ways of advertising Bitcoin currency? on: October 16, 2015, 06:36:39 AM
A good way to advertise the bitcoin community would be to develop an actual mascot.  One that portrays of the value of Bitcoin - namely it's irreversible nature, and ease of use.

That's a wonderful idea! We can even start a separate thread on this topic and start discussing it there.

The community as a whole should start a fund and pay some artists who can draw.

Only I think that not just any artist could do it. I think we need one of the best contemporary artists in the world for this.
I propose Banksy.
12930  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What will the world look like in 10 years if Bitcoin succeeds? on: October 15, 2015, 03:21:52 PM
We've had a million predictions of doom, all the bad things that can happen if Bitcoin and Cryptocurrencies spread. We have also had an unending stream of "Bitcoin is dead" and "Bitcoin won't last another year" predictions.

What I would like is to try to imagine a best case scenario of how the world could change for the better if Bitcoin became as popular as e-mail or social networks and billions of people were using it.

So... what is your best case scenario for 2025?

1. The price of 1BTC will be around $2k.

2. Almost everyone will have two-way Satellite Internet and thus BTC will be a helpful thing in any location in whatever the circumstances.

3. Fiat money will be so unreliable in some countries that people there will use mostly Bitcoins.
12931  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: cash remains the only option if there's an emergency on: October 15, 2015, 02:57:44 PM

The whole thing was very local. Everything was fine a few km North, but this shall reminds us that if there's a serious emergency, cash is the only safe option.
You're just using one specific example to demonstrate a broad topic, catastrophes happen. And lastly, your cash may flow and be useless but your bitcoins are always safe in the blockchain(if you remember the private key to recover them that is)

Yes, they are but if you ned to buy food right now they are useless.

However, I hope that in the near future two-way satellite internet will be affordable to anyone and then Bitcoins might be helpful in the situation mentioned above.
12932  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How much can you earn with gambling? on: October 15, 2015, 01:56:08 PM
I don't gable to earn money. I know it is almost impossible to earn more than you invested. I rather like the thrill of uncertainty gambling brings.
I usually bet only low stakes, maximum 0.001 BTC. So I don't cry later when I lose.

It is REALLY difficult to make profit with gambling, gambling is meant to entertain not to make profit. If someone wants to make profit and have that gambling feeling he should try the stock exchange.

No it is not difficult at all, gambling is the easiest way to make profit and living.
The chance to win in gambling is 50:50 , if you win your money get doubled if not try again and again.
It is so simply right? If you decide to be a professional gambler then you should learn a lot. If not you just need to find your lucky.

But if you lost, how can you "try again and again"? Where can you get the money?

The answer is simple (to wright, but not to have irl): infinite supply. Yes you can make living from gambling if you have an infinite supply of money. This was stated many times before and I can see no other option.
12933  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: If bitcoin ever goes mainstream on: October 15, 2015, 01:44:09 PM
Bitcoin will go mainstream surely as the change has already begun. We can not just see the speed of change it is much more faster than we imagine. It is inevitable now as lot of the water has flown under the bridges.Governments as well as bankers are failed to stop Bitcoin in last couple of years.A totally new era of financial freedom and privacy is to come soon.

I don't think there's anything guaranteeing mass mainstream adoption. Sure it might and it it does go there it will take several years but part of me just thinks most of the general public just has no need or desire to use bitcoin so the mainstream will largely avoid it. I thiunk it will still have its niche uses online and in some industries but will remain relatively underground still. I hope to be wrong though.

You are right so far, but I hope this situation will change soon for better (and I think that part of you has the same hope  Wink ).

Mostly people don't want to use BTC because they don't know whether it's relible and they don't have time to explore the subject more. Things that come to mind when they hear the word "Bitcoin" are: Silk Road, MtGox's collapse and other negative things unfortunately. As soon as BTC starts receiving positive publicity the mainstream adoption will rise exponentially.
12934  Economy / Services / Re: Antminer s5+ purchase on: October 15, 2015, 11:46:07 AM
He is wrong the going price for an S5 standard is 300$ with shipping included, that and the location they are in could definitely have moisture in the air and have damaged some of the hardware.

I understand that it looks horrible on the picture I took, but actually the miners are located in the attic, not in the cellar, so there is no excessive moisture there.

Depends where you sell it.  Ebay looks like 350 is doable but there is lots of fees.  On forum it is going to be more along the 300.

Only possible way he get's 500 is if he's in a country with huge vat/import tax (some are 25 precent which is crazy).  In these high vat areas I could see 400+ pretty easy.

Yes, he's in Ukraine where vat/import tax stands at 20 percent as far as I know. He says that he already checked local forums and knows for sure that he can easily sell s5 for 400+, but he's looking for $500. )

In my home country, ENGLAND, they are charging 20% vat on electronic goods. I don't think you have to pay VAT on resail as you already paid it on purchase!

No, of course not! Nobody is going to pay VAT again.  Smiley

The talk was about that if in a country the VAT is as big as 20% and more it will be possible to sell used s5 for 400+ because the imported ones will cost more.
12935  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin: Should you stay or should you go? on: October 15, 2015, 09:24:02 AM
We should not leave Bitcoin even if prices drop.
Bitcoin's acceptancy will keep grow, feel secure.

There should be at least limit of price drop. Don't just trust Bitcoins. Trust all the factors that can move Bitcoin prices. For example if Bitcoin price will drop to let's say $10 or $2 as an example stated above. Do you think the factors of it that's why it reached that mark will not be taken seriously by some miners or individuals? It will taken seriously starting from $100 like the one poster says.

Yes, but this will never happen. I can see no reasons for such drop in price of BTC. Of course we may speculate about it just for fun but seriuosly it's like speculating about what would happen if the US dollar will be cheaper than the Russian rouble. )
12936  Economy / Speculation / Re: Will we have higher fees and lower network security after halving day? on: October 15, 2015, 09:12:24 AM
I predict that by summer 2016 when the halving will occur the price of BTC will rise twofold (the rising has started already) and it will be pretty profitable to mine BTC especially with the new s7.

OP, I can't understand why do you predict consequent drop in price of BTC months later? Do you really think that by Jan 2017 the price of BTC wil be under $300? Because I think that with rising popularity of BTC the prise will rise too, and after the time of halving the price will never be lower than $550.
12937  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Spending VERY Large Amounts of Bitcoin? on: October 15, 2015, 08:39:59 AM

-- If someone wants to convert a VERY LARGE amount of BTC to cash, how would they go about it?

Here's the article which might be interesting to read about the owner of Sheep Marketplace, who had stolen around $40M in BTC and bought a house worth $340,000 with part of the stolen BTC.

12938  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: BITCOIN the PORN and GAMBLING future? on: October 15, 2015, 07:23:56 AM
I think if all people who are using porn sites knew about Bitcoin they would definitely choose to use it for many reasons which were already mentioned above. So the matter depends on the operators of the porn sites.

As for the gambling sites, well, it's already the present for many of them.

12939  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is there a way to earn at least $1 in BTC per hour? on: October 14, 2015, 02:27:08 PM
If you widen your range to altcoins, organize a good schedule for doing faucets (several tabs, selecting the best etc) and keep yourself in chats were they tip some coins for chatting (there are in IRC and some exchanges) I think it is possible to get 1$ worth of altcoin+bitcoin an hour.

At least for 1 hour, as many faucets have several hours to be allowed to claim again.
also try mining altcoins, and when they go up sell them. should be a pretty good way of earning a bunch of money.

i don't think mining is such a good idea. because not only altcoins are cheep but also they have a very risky market which can go down due to a sudden dump and all your efforts go down with it.

also not to mention that you have to invest first in mining equipment or at least in a good GPU. and all that will consume a lot of electricity which you have to pay for. besides the lifetime of your GPU would be lower too due to working overtime all the time.

I agree with you that mining altcoins is a very risky pursuit. And considering that this topic was read 5541 times already I assume that more people than just me are reading answers to my question, so I want to add something for them about investing in altcoins.

The main problem with altcoins, especially with unknown, with new ones, is not that they are cheap. Yes, they are  cheap, but you can mine them much easier than BTC or LTC and at first sight it might seem that you are mining the equivalent amount to that if you were mining Bitcoins, you just need to do an exchange. But the real problem is that they are becoming cheaper and cheaper.

Take DogeCoin for example: it was almost 300 sats 1.5 ago and now it's less than 50 sats.
Another example is a pretty new coin - DTT, which was 60 sats 3 weeks ago a now it sells at 11 sats.

So I wouldn't say that mining altcoins or investing in them are good ways to make some BTC.
