1301  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽ UEFA Euro 2024 in Germany ⚽ - Qualifiers on: November 23, 2023, 02:24:35 AM
And if we look at the squads of the three national teams (Portugal, France and England). All filled with the best star players at the moment. Every player who makes up their squad is truly at their best at their respective clubs. So it is not surprising that these three national teams will be favorites at EURO 2024.

But unfortunately all the strong teams seem to be facing off early. So it is very likely that it will be very difficult to see the two favorite clubs facing each other in the Final.

But other national teams can make surprises too. For example, Belgium doesn't seem to have experienced any difficulties in the group qualifying round. Even Lukaku is the current top scorer.

I would not read too much into Belgian performance during the Euro qualifiers. First of all, they were placed in a very easy group and apart from Belgium the other teams were Austria, Sweden, Azerbaijan and Estonia. Even then, they conceded two draws (against Austria and Sweden), and had a close match against Austria at Vienna which was eventually won with a margin of 2-3. Romelu Lukaku top-scored with a total of 14 goals, but the next top-scorers for Belgium were Dodi Lukebakio and Leandro Trossard with just 2 goals each.
1302  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽ UEFA Euro 2024 in Germany ⚽ - Qualifiers on: November 22, 2023, 11:07:47 AM
Wales did not have many chances to get out of the group. The draw with Turkey was of course decisive, including Croatia beating Armenia. But there was probably no doubt that Croatia and Turkey would top the group.

Well... in case of Turkey I would agree. But Wales was ahead of Croatia for a large part of the qualifier phase. In the end, however Croatia managed to secure the direct qualification to the main event with a couple of wins. During the last couple of years, Wales have fared relatively well. And they continue to do so, despite the retirement of their best player (Gareth Bale). Even now, they have a good chance of qualifying for the Euro 2024, if they can win two of the playoff matches. And that is not a very difficult target, given that their opponents are weak teams like Estonia.
1303  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: FIFA World Cup 2026 :Canada/Mexico/United States: Discussion Thread on: November 22, 2023, 10:54:12 AM
Brazil still have time but if they can not wake up from now, play better, they will be disqualified for World Cup 2026. It is a surprise to see they perform so bad in latest matches and are facing with big risk to watch World Cup 2026 through televisions.

Since the last World Cup 2022, their national team shown that they no longer have enough star players like they used to have. Only Neymar is not enough and the player is going to a down side of his career with ageing issues and injury problems. They still have Vinicius Jr. but it seems he is a brightest attacking star player they have, again a single player is not enough. In midfield area, it's hard to find players who are at world class level. In defense, a same or even worse issue, they still have to use very old defender like Thiago Silva.

Well... I was joking when I posted that Brazil may miss qualification for the FIFA World Cup of 2026. But even if they qualify as the 3rd or 4th ranked team, it is going to be a big humiliation for them. Brazil used to be the no.1 ranked team for so many decades. Their recent decline was quite unexpected. And even more insulting for them is the fact that their traditional rivals (Argentina) has now become the no.1 team replacing them. Brazil used to be a well balanced team, not overdependent on any one player. But that has also changed, with a lot of burden now falling on Neymar.

Kenya posted excellent total 154/2 in his first inning. Kenya C. Obuya played impressive inning score fifty 50 runs in just 47 helped Kenya to giev a 155 run target for Rwnada. In 2nd match of icc T twenty world cup qualifiers africa. uganda won the toss and gave tanzania to batting first tanzania set a target of 99/7 in 20 overs. uganda now chassing the target are 44/2 in 10th over. They need to make 44 runs of 54 balls and 8 wickets in hand they will win easily.

These matches are extremely important. The top two teams from this tournament will qualify for the T20 World Cup of 2024. This would mean matches against full member nations for these teams, in addition to a big boost in the fund allocation from the ICC. In the first match, Uganda managed to defeat Tanzania and Kenya in the second match may defeat Rwanda. With 2 overs remaining, Rwanda needs another 33 runs to win. The third match is going to be the most important one for today. Match between Namibia and Zimbabwe will start in around 1 hour from now. These two are the most probable teams to qualify for the world cup.
1305  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ODI cricket and general cricketing discussion [self - mod] on: November 22, 2023, 10:34:57 AM
The primary issue lies in the drastic underperformance of the batters, describing it as an "extreme failure" and a "batting disaster." I think that had the batsmen managed to set a higher run target, the bowlers would have had a better chance to excel. In essence, the batting lineup is responsible for the defeat, emphasizing that the inadequate target set by the batters was the root cause of the team's overall struggle in the match. Rohit, Virat is the protagonist of this defeat, not Mohammad Sami, Mohammad Siraj and Jasprit Bumrah, Jadeja.

Once Rohit got out, India went on backfoot. And before that, the loss of toss was a big morale dampener for the Indian team. They were asked to bat first on a difficult task, and that too against in-form Australian bowlers. They started well, with Rohit smashing the bowlers all around the park. But once he was out, they quickly found themselves at a disadvantage. This was when Rahul joined Virat at the crease and started their defensive stance. In the end, Indian batsmen failed to setup a challenging total. 240 was at least 30-40 runs short of a winning total.

Good news, at least for the female cricketers:

https://twitter.com/SkyNews/status/1726928540824691057

International Cricket Council has prohibited men from competing in women's games. This was long due, as the biological advantages that men get while playing cricket puts the female athletes at a disadvantage. For example, the fastest delivery by a male bowler is measured at 161.3 kmph (by Shoaib Akhtar), while the fastest delivery by a female bowler is recorded at just 130.5 kmph (Ellyse Perry). Also, a few weeks ago one of the male athletes competing for the Canadian women's team (Danielle McGahey) caused an injury to one of the players in the opposing Brazil squad (hit in the mouth by a Mcgahey shot). Similar bans already exist in other sports such as athletics, cycling, swimming and rugby.

Indonesia won by 7 wickets and 14 balls spare against Cambodia. While batting first combidia scores 134 runs in loss of 7 wickets in 20 overs. Lakshit Gupta scored well 34 not out in just 23 balls alongside with Uday Hathinjar 29 runs in 34 balls. Indonesia bowling well especially Dhanesh Shetty who picked 2 important wicktes by giving only 20 runs in 4 oves. Indonesia chase down the target 136 runs in loss of only 3 wickets in 17.4 overs and win match by 7 wickets. The player of the match is Padmakar Surve for his outstanding batting performance scored 36 runs unbeaten in just 20 balls.

Previously Cambodia used to have at least 1-2 citizens in their team. But now they have gone to 100% foreign composition. On the other hand, Indonesia is still having a 100% native team. And this was very evident in the results as well. Out of the 5 matches played so far, Indonesia has won 3. Two more matches are remaining and Indonesia needs just one more win. As a nation, Indonesia has made rapid strides in cricket during the last 2-3 years. And this has been noticed in both men's and women's cricket.
1308  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Test Cricket Prediction and Discussion Thread [self - mod] on: November 22, 2023, 07:08:24 AM
@Sithara007 I wonder if people really want to see test cricket right away because I’m feeling they’ll be tired with seeing so much cricket and thus I won’t be surprised if the viewers ship is lowest for this series. Lastly New Zealand will be hurting from their World Cup exit and hence I feel they could perform much better against Bangladesh and probably even win the series.

Even I don't have much interest in this series. As usual, Bangladesh will prepare grounds that favor their spinners and New Zealand batsmen will struggle against the local conditions. The Kiwis used to be one of the strongest test teams until 2-3 years ago. But the retirement of some of the key players, such as Colin de Grandhomme, Neil Wagner and BJ Watling seems to have had a negative impact. But at the same time, induction of fresh blood in the form of Rachin Ravindra should boost their prospects from now on.
1309  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: CONMEBOL 2026 FIFA World Cup qualification (South America) on: November 22, 2023, 06:57:29 AM
6th round matches are complete and now everyone will forget about the CONMEBOL qualifiers for another 10-12 months. The reason is that 7th round is scheduled for September 2024. There are no matches in between. I don't understand the scheduling of the qualifier tournament. Why there is so much of a gap? This will only result in fans losing their interest in the matches. All the 10 participating nations will be playing on the 7th match day (even the date is not finalized of yet). As of now, three teams - Chile, Bolivia and Peru are at the bottom of the points table. They will be trying to improve their position.
1310  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: FIFA World Cup 2026 :Canada/Mexico/United States: Discussion Thread on: November 22, 2023, 06:47:16 AM
That was one of the most aggressive and interesting match I have seen. Both sides were just fighting for the ball and neither side was really able to flex their muscles throughout the first half with constant fouls creating a stop-start affair. I think Brazil had a plan to isolate Messi because he was even seen twice receiving attention to his right thigh.

There were less chances from the Brazilian side. They were without their two creators; Neymar and Vinicius. In fact neither side was really able to carve out any meaningful opportunities in the opening period, with Brazil committing 16 fouls early on to break down any fluidity to the game. The Brazil coach isn’t getting it right in this qualifiers. I expected a different approach to this game having conceded back-to-back defeats in World Cup qualifiers for the first time in their history. It’s going to be crazy if they don’t make it to the World Cup. It was also Brazil's first ever home loss in a World Cup qualifier. Because Argentina top the standings on 15 points with Brazil eight points behind in sixth place.

Isolating Messi is not going to work, because Argentina is not very dependent on him. If Brazil asks 2-3 of their defenders to mark Messi, then the other Argentine forwards such as Enzo Fernández and Julián Álvarez will be able to play with relative ease. And perhaps this is what cost them three points during the match between these two sides. Brazil is not in a good position at this point. They are at the 6th place with just 7 points. If they lose a few more matches, then there is a good chance that Brazil will not be a part of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
1311  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽ UEFA Euro 2024 in Germany ⚽ - Qualifiers on: November 22, 2023, 06:37:47 AM
As of now, the playoff groupings are as follows. A total of 12 teams will take part in this round, and out of them 3 are going to qualify for the main event in Germany (3 teams are yet to be grouped: Iceland, Ukraine and Finland):

Group A: Poland, Wales, Estonia + 1 more team
Group B: Israel, Bosnia and Herzegovina + 2 more teams
Group C: Georgia, Greece, Kazakhstan and Luxembourg

As per my prediction, the teams that are most probable to qualify are as follows:

Group A: Wales
Group B: Ukraine (if they get placed in Group B)
Group C: Greece
1312  Economy / Economics / Re: No petrol/diesel car sales by 2035/ Reality or dream? on: November 22, 2023, 05:35:06 AM
It is not possible to say what other countries will do but banning petrol/diesel vehicles in my Bangladesh will not be possible at all. We are always plagued by the terrible curse of loadshedding, so if we have to find alternative vehicles to petrol or diesel, there will be pressure on electricity which our country Bangladesh cannot control, as a result mill factories will close down. So it is not at all possible to discover or import any alternative vehicle to petrol in Bangladesh.

Even in developed nations such as the US and EU, less than 10% of the vehicles are electricity-driven. In the third world nations, the proportion is much lower. Given this, even by 2035 I don't think that a large fraction of the vehicles will be EV even in the developed nations. Bangladesh is a relatively poor country, and I am not sure whether the population there can afford the EVs on a grand scale. Current technology hasn't advanced enough to make the prices of EVs on par with gasoline and diesel driven vehicles.
1313  Economy / Economics / Re: India is the new economic leader of global south. And replacement for China?... on: November 22, 2023, 05:25:07 AM
I will repeat 2 arguments:
1. The success of China is not so much due to some well-thought-out internal policies of the Chinese leadership in the late 20th and early 21st centuries, but thanks to Western investments, Western interest in China, and Western technology and money. Until this moment, China remained a not very developed, largely agricultural country.
2. India's democratic vector, convenient geographical location, adequate politics, large population and not very high standard of living of the population (no offense here, but this is also a factor), are much more attractive than today's China. By the way, at Biden’s meeting with Xi Jinping, one of the issues discussed was the US refusal to withdraw its business from China. Because This is a REAL problem for the Chinese economy. And American companies need to move all this somewhere... And this is already a question in favor of India with a very high probability.

I agree with both the points. But at the same time, the conditions that are prevalent in India are existent in other countries as well. Examples are Indonesia, Bangladesh, Myanmar, Pakistan and Vietnam are a few examples. Investors are obviously going to select one country where they will find less amount of bureaucracy and red tape. The main issue with India is that there is a lot of corruption and red tape. International investors, unless they tie up with one of the Indian partners, find it very tough to do business in India.
1314  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽ UEFA Euro 2024 in Germany ⚽ - Qualifiers on: November 22, 2023, 05:14:27 AM
From initial theirs no day I assumed that Armenia will defeat Croatia, right from time Croatia have been taking anything concerning football very and talk less of Armenia, from the beginning of the group I knew that Armenia is going to lose the match even though they come with all their best players Croatia will definitely defeat them, If Croatia lose match against Armenia that means maybe they are not prepared or they want to sell wining to Armenia. Turkey and Wales, when you looked at the competition you will know that both team is just trying their best to defeat each both when you talk of football calculations in both team you will see that Wales was tried their best to pressure Turkey and win but they lack courage, because already Wales suppose to win Turkey in that match, shall a football is not predictable and a minute in football can give the other opponent a draw.

Wales gave tough competition to the other teams. But it was always going to be very difficult to qualify ahead of Croatia and Turkey. Anyway they still have one more chance remaining. There are a total of 12 teams taking part in the playoff round and out of that 3 are going to qualify for the main tournament in Germany. Exact composition of groups are not yet known, but we know that Wales will be placed in the same group as Poland and Estonia. 4th team is not yet known and will be one among Finland, Ukraine and Iceland. Anyway looks like Wales will be the strongest team from this group.
1315  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Saudi Professional League 2023/2024 on: November 22, 2023, 05:04:54 AM
While scrolling through the newsfeed, a news suddenly came in front of me that it is said that Al Hilal is going to cancel the contract with Neymar and the Saudi club will sign another player in place of Neymar. I don't know how true this news is, but I have come across such a news, so I shared this news in the forum. If anyone knows any accurate news about this then definitely share. When Neymar was sidelined for a whole season due to injury, I saw that Al Hilal players were talking about Neymar's side, so why is the club suddenly taking such a decision?

Well.. this happened sometime back. You are late. When Neymar got injured, Al Hilal wanted him to stay back in Saudi Arabia. But he decided to travel to Brazil instead. There was a lot of unease in Al Hilal over this. And in the end they decided to get him deregistered. This would mean that they will be able to get a replacement for Neymar from some of the foreign leagues (as already they had reached the maximum overseas player cap of 8 per club). Anyway, I am not very impressed with Neymar. He is being arrogant and unfair.

Argentina vs Brazil match was played till the last minute, but Brazil lost against Argentina. Brazil lost 1-0 to world champions Argentina, with both teams attacking well from the start of the game until half-time as both teams battled it out. But after half-time, the attacks were more for both sides, but Argentina set the ball very well, due to which Brazil could not keep the ball in the net. But the Argentina team scored a goal in the 63rd minute of the game to lead the team, then Brazil fell far behind, and at the end of the match, the Brazilian team lost the points. Moreover, one of Brazil's players got red carded for fouling, and then Brazil couldn't make any strong attacks, which may have caused them to lose today's match. Brazil is currently in a bad position in the points table of the World Cup qualifiers, they are in the 7th position with 7 points. Currently, Brazil's position in the points table is very bad today's match could have been a draw, but unfortunately Brazil lost the match and lost points and are in a bad position.

LOL.. once again Argentina's supremacy over Brazil is proven. If the Brazilians are searching for excuses, then they will get dozens. For example, they can claim that Neymar was injured and therefore not available for the match, while for Argentina all of their star players were available including Lionel Messi, Julián Álvarez and Enzo Fernández. In the absence of Neymar, the burden fell on the shoulders of Gabriel Jesus, Raphinha, Rodrygo and Gabriel Martinelli. But they were unable to offer resistance against the strong Argentine squad.
1317  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ODI cricket and general cricketing discussion [self - mod] on: November 22, 2023, 03:59:18 AM
They were very much interested in winning that final match, but Australia played well on their day. I still believed that with the form India was in, they should have won the World Cup, but unfortunately, they could not deliver on the biggest stage of World Cricket.

From the very start, after Rohit's dismissal, the Indian team looked under pressure. The Australian team had only one strategy; go hard or go home. They were putting pressure on every step of the way with their aggressive fielding and bowling. That partnership between Virat and Rahul was good, but they had not taken any chances and dried up the boundaries. This was the phase where Australia locked their victory.

The partnership between Virat and Rahul stabilized the Indian innings. But after sometime, they had to step up the scoring rate, which they failed to do. During middle overs, India was scoring at around 3 runs per over, and that too against part-time bowlers such as Glenn Maxwell and Travis Head. And when finally they decided to accelerate, Virat got out and the innings simply collapsed. Also, horribly disappointed with Suryakumar Yadav. He was supposed to score valuable runs under pressure situations, but he failed when it mattered the most.

AFC qualifiers are going on with currently we have many matches in progress China suffering defeat against South Korea at home after end of the first half we have 0–2 Son score twice for his team at Shenzhen India going to host Qatar at Bhubaneswar after having surprising win against Kuwait in Kuwait which is surely big deal for the soccer fans in India even we still have long way to go, but things like these are doing good pump for the soccer in India.

Few matches already ended with Pakistan host first time any World Cup qualifier at home against Tajikistan and lost by big margin of 1–6 Turkmenistan leading against Hong Kong, and we have big won for the North Korea as well against Myanmar many good and entertaining matches are going to play in next few hours as well.

AFC qualifiers, due to the sheer size (there are a total of 46 participants) are spread out over several rounds. Yesterday there was a match between India and Qatar, which was won by Qatar by a margin of 3-0. It will further reduce the chances of India, given the fact they have only 4 matches remaining. If they can finish ahead of Kuwait, then they will qualify for the 3rd round. And for India, the next two matches are against the weakest team in the group (Afghanistan). Two wins there and decent performances against remaining matches against Qatar and Kuwait will see them qualifying for round 3.

I just came across a post on social media claiming to have come from the official page of Inter Miami disassociating themself from the friendly match. They said the owner of the team have not publicly or privately made a statement concerning that, so they’re not going to be playing any friendly match- Riyadh Season cup which is just within three teams; Inter Miami, Al-Nassr and Al-Hilal. They said it was inaccurate and are not participating in the competition.

There is some confusion related to this. Initially Inter Miami CF put up a statement claiming that the claim is false, but after a few hours the statement was deleted from their website. They claim that the club is yet to finalize the 2024 preseason schedule, but some informal talks maybe going on. Anyway, it looks as if Saudis are still pursuing Lionel Messi, after the failed attempt to get him play for one of the Saudi Arabian clubs. These two players - Messi and Kylian Mbappé were their prized targets and they still can't accept the fact that they were unable to get them onboard.

Out of all the 20 teams who have qualified directly to the main tournament so far, one team surprised me the most - Albania. I don't remember seeing them in any of the major UEFA or FIFA tournaments. This time they were lucky enough to be placed in a weak group along with Czech Republic, Poland, Moldova and Faroe Islands and they made maximum use out of it by topping the group. Czechia was the other team who qualified from Group E. Poland used to be a very strong team, but they finished at 3rd place.
