I'd give $50 for one, just to have as a collectable of mining history.
1302  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: POLL - Why are you mining? on: October 07, 2013, 04:48:34 AM
I'm trying to +ROI on my $150 USB erupters.

Good to be back
1304  Other / Archival / Re: Pictures of your mining rigs! on: October 02, 2013, 05:32:47 PM
I made some preparations in my cold storage today. Just some power and ethernet wiring left.

In total the storage will host 3xJupiter, 1xSaturn, 10x Old version overclocked blades and my USB rig with total 66 eruptors.

Nice! RM850's?
1305  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Largest BTC share ever found? on: October 02, 2013, 12:36:36 AM
But does that mean it took 1000 times longer to find? This stuff I've never understood  Undecided
1306  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: KNC, 100% of their hashing is currently going into their own pocket. on: October 01, 2013, 02:36:26 AM
I guess I feel a bit left out of all the trolling—

KNC is now mining on their hardware, while customers wait for it to ship:

http://eligius.st/~wizkid057/newstats/userstats.php/17Czc8RVL3FU5T2MLx2zLbRnpfBNgH9vFo

This is, as far as I know, 100% of the KNC hashrate in existence. Pedantically speaking, it means that KNC is violating their 5% commitment.

Testing doesn't involve using the production network. Production mining is unlikely to test finding blocks— whereas testnet, or replays of past found blocks are more complete tests.  Mining on the mainnet increases the difficulty and takes income from customers who are waiting on units that will be late.  Every bit of earlier mining is worth large amounts of future mining due to expected growth.

I do not understand why miners keep funding mining hardware companies that mine in competition with their own customers.

Who's account would you propose that they test on? This would need to be 100% fair to all buyers of the KNC hardware of course.
1307  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Why do people waste money on useless things for mining? on: September 30, 2013, 03:26:07 PM
I already had a Pi mining, saw this little display, bought one, and wrote some software for it. Actually, it's FAR from useless, and I don't think it was a waste of money at all Smiley

Bug report: That screen is reporting MtGox on it. Don't waste pixels on useless information.

Lulz +1
1308  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: KNC Refunds List on: September 30, 2013, 02:34:33 AM

The difficulty increase won't be a straight 20%, it'll curve down.

5 jumps to double from current difficulty, or a total of 160M jump in difficulty, but further down jump 20-21 a 900M increase? in 1 jump? Think how much hardware would have to ship in 10 days time to have a 900M jump.

And do we really think by Dec 2014 there will be ASICs shipping in such vast quantities that a jump would be 22 BILLION? in 1 jump (38-39)?

Since this thread is about buying useless things for mining, I figured I'd mention the little gadget I bought to use monitor my Raspberry Pi mining setup. Yes, I have a Pi, AND a tiny LCD display to show my miner status...

Too bad you can't get one with an Amazon gift card...  LOL

Dude, this is awesome!
1312  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Best options for today? on: September 27, 2013, 06:05:44 PM
I picked KNC and Cointerra
1313  Other / Archival / Re: Pictures of your mining rigs! on: September 27, 2013, 02:32:02 AM

The warehouse begins!
This looks like a crime scene.
LOL! Totally does.

I count 7 Singles and an Avalon? Are you over or under 500GH/s?

Personally, I like the chairs, give you a chance to just sit down with some buddies, grab a cold one, kick back and watch 'em mine.
1314  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: How can I remotely power cycle my modem/router? on: September 27, 2013, 02:29:20 AM
Call your power company and cancel service, once they disconnect your house, call back and reactivate service.
1315  Bitcoin / Hardware / ATX Power Supply Jumper, now with a switch! on: September 26, 2013, 04:36:54 AM
I've seen various questions about how to avoid having to use a paperclip, some love the paperclip, some fear the power it holds. This should make lives easier for the latter.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=261273247128

Now you don't have to worry about the paper clip trick, or "tricking" the power supply, it's a good 'ol analog switch that will allow you to turn on and off the power supply, like magic, only it's not magic... it's a switch.

Enjoy!

P.S. It's not my auction, but after countless hours of intensive internet searching I found it :-)

Edit: Now in 24-pin: http://www.ebay.com/itm/251325076906

This is great troll bait, which I think was the original intention.

My first response was going to be 'how do you type with all that drool on your keyboard?'

However, I've decided to feed the troll with 'I have more money than I know what to do with so I amuse myself with watching shares accepted all day', its like watching the old windows defrag program, hypnotic.

Fess up, how many people just used to sit and watch that defrag moving stuff around?

Plus I constantly defrag my SSDs, just to watch the NAND burn
1317  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: I like BFL, DO YOU ??? on: September 26, 2013, 12:31:25 AM
My FPGAs were late, my ASICS were way late, but I got them, and I've turned a positive ROI, it's all positive cash flow going forward.
1318  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Why the Bitcoin community HAS to save the network from HashFast, CoinTerra, BFL. on: September 25, 2013, 03:16:51 AM
Competition, that's what it takes, notice the prices dropping as new ASIC companies come about.

The price of ASICS is determined by what people are willing to pay. You have many people willing to pay $3500 for the asic, if you provide asics at a much more reasonable $350 for the same hash, you'll have that same person buying 10. If you can fully supply with no delays, you'll have an even more massive spike in difficulty, thus making the ROI in the same ballpark as it is now. On top of that, if OurASIC isn't making much of a margin, your customers will be, as the OurASIC devices will end up at auction to whomever is willing to pay the premium.

The hardware companies aren't mining on everyone's preorders, the money is in the profit margins of the ASICS,, the more they sell, the more they will sell. It's a very unique industry. Cars, TVs, Computers, the more you sell, the more your sales slow down as the market is saturated, ASICS? The more you saturate the market, the more you will sell.
1319  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: 5x Gigabyte 7970 on a 1300w PSU...Is this possible? on: September 25, 2013, 03:03:47 AM
I had 5x HD5870's at 950MHz on a 1200W Antec with no problems.

Might be okay with the GHz editions (From what I understand they use less power?)
1320  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Why do people waste money on useless things for mining? on: September 25, 2013, 03:01:04 AM
I had 60+ GPU systems mining, I had Samsung SATA SSD drives for all my miners. Never had one fail either.

Does that count as wasting money?
