The 3 rigs are a little over a week old.  I haven't received my bill yet.  Grin

Based on the current .08 kW rate and the about 700 to 750w per machine (3) running about 23 hours a day I expect it will be about $4-4.25 a day in consumption.

I mine LTC at a rate of 1.8MH/s each machine.  That nets about 4-5 LTC per day.
1302  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: FeatherCoin Pool - Stratum on: April 23, 2013, 03:00:42 PM
thanks for the continued work on this pool.  The stratum support is great I wouldn't change it at all.  The reject rate is very low compared to the other pools.  So the fee is fine in that context.

The front end is not responsive enough.  It's like that with any user interface.  People will pay a premium for a new front end.  It also establishes a greater trust.

I want to report that I've obtained all my shares and my payout reflects what it should be.  There is long lag but the payout is what I expected.  You just have to wait about 24 hours.  But mystats have updated correct.

I recommend that anyone that feels they have not been credited their FC you review their stats again.

When I get back home I'll take some photos.  There is a thread here on the forum that gave me the idea.  I plan to rack them with additional milk crates as spacers.
I bought a lot to them from this auction on ebay but he has since ran out.  I'm waiting for a restock.

1304  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: FeatherCoin Pool - Stratum on: April 23, 2013, 04:44:39 AM
I started mining this forum around 24 hours ago. It took around 14 hours or so until I received my first coins in a lump sum of 50. About an hour after that, I received 19 more. From that point, I got about 2 or 3 coins every 30 minutes until I was fully paid for my work. The timing of the payouts is odd (well in excess of 120 confirms for a block participated in) but there is no scamming involved as far as I can tell.

I just chalk it up to the quirks that come with mining on a brand new pool. Viper is often available in the chat on his pool site, and he responds to PM here on this forum. Seems legit to me, and very promising once the bugs are ironed out. Anyways, if you want to mine FC right now, what are your alternatives? On the official Feathercoin topic on this forum, I see links to one site that inst allowing new registration, one that gave me 9200 accepted shares and 1150 stales, one that doesn't allow you to keep track of your rewards by not even having registration, and a couple of brand new pools that have single digit M/h rates right now. Not trying to shit on other pools (that's why I didn't mention them by name) but Viper's pool is the best IMO right now, warts and all. Give it a chance.

Viper also PMed me to say that he is going to fix the auto payout problem, and he's already mentioned in this thread and on his site about migrating servers to speed up the frontend of the site.

I know I am brand new (this is my first post outside of the newbie section) so I know I have zero clout, but for whatever it's worth I recommend Viper's pool.

HOw many MH/s did you run and what was your final payout.  I was running about 3.8MH/s for about 12 hours straight and it looks like I've fallen a bit short of the expected payout.  I"m going to hold off from reporting this as anything but a lag because of the 120 confirmations.  I hope there are more than 40FC generated for that time.
1305  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: FeatherCoin Pool - Stratum on: April 23, 2013, 12:41:45 AM
looks like stats has started updating.  it looks like its just under serious lag.  I'm anticipating a payout soon.

The payout is manual.

Ahh well that explains it.  He doesn't have the script built for automatic payout then.  No worries then.  I'm confident that he'll work through the rough start.

I've been toying with the idea of buying 2 PCIx8 to PCIx16 converters for the additional slots I have on the motherboard and an additional 300w power supply for each rig.  Its about cost.  Not sure if it will be effective to get the PSUs and the adapters or just buying another rig instead.
1310  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How to determine how much power needed for x4 7950's in one rig on: April 22, 2013, 10:22:23 PM

Is that Max TDP for this model of the 7950 "SAPPHIRE HD 7970 3GB GDDR5 (21197-00)" or for all of them in general? And I didn't plan to OC for the same reason as you, so if I could get by with an 850 gold PSU that'd be great. If you don't mind me asking what kind of hash rates do you get with that setup? I'm trying to get a ball park feel for how much I could mine a day/week/month with that setup. Also how much power does 850 watt PSU draw on your electric bill, is it just 850 watts an hour, 20.4kwh a day, and so like 612 kwh a month? Or is that not calculated correctly. My apartment doesn't have an electrical cap and utilities are included, but If I had 10 of these rigs sucking up 6,120 kwh a month I think they would have a problem lol.

Max TDP should be for the 7950 model.  not specific to an one card.  But I can see where mileage may vary, it depends on quality of parts.  I'm mainly mining LTC and FC now.  I get about 2,250kH/s average running intensity -19 on cgminer per rig.

I orders a kill-a-watt meter off amazon so I can get a real idea of how much juice I'm pulling on these machines.  The machines probably draw about 700 to 800 watts each.  But you have to figure out how much your apartment can handle.  You might trip a breaker if you load up too many machines.  For example I cant run 3 machines in the same room.  The circuit is 15AMPs  so 15 * 120 volts is 1800 watts.  I can put two in the room but I do trip the breaker when I add the 3rd one.

I've been running these machines for about a week.  Still new to all this, and it was mostly tweaking the first few days.  So I haven't received the electric bill.  But an estimate of what it will cost me.  2400 watts or 2.4kW per hour.  at .10/kW  = $0.24/hr or $5.76 per day.  So I'm adding just under $200 a month.

Also consider that the increased usage might alert the electric company and they might reprice your service.  That happens in some places.  If you are in an apartment it might not affect you much but if the landlord sees a big spike in his bill you might not have the free electricity option for long.

As you mention; mining appears to be unaffected, it is only the front end that has such a slow response.

viperaus were you able to fully fund your miners in your ltc coin pool or did they loose the coins they were supposed to get?

Maybe we can hunt down some of the ltc pool members at the time and see what their experience was.  I"m sure we could search the forum and see how it was handled.
1313  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: FeatherCoin Pool - Stratum on: April 22, 2013, 08:18:38 PM
Fucking. Bullshit.

Gave the guy 9 horus of 3MH/s hashing power, and got 0.00000 to show for it (expected was supposed to be >300FC)

So yes, I've pulled out and if I don't get paid for my work in the next days i'm throwing a scammer tag out there.

I don't think it is a scam just yet. They seem to have had a similar problem on their ltc coin pool.

I am glad to say that the payout script ran successfully and a I have confirmed with a couple of you guys that the funds have been received. Phew!.. Smiley I have now automated the script, so every 10 minutes, it will check to see if a block has been won, and after 120 confirms, the payment script will send funds out to those that are above their set payment threshold. Moving forward, I now plan to update the My Stats page to provide even more details about your account; I would like to know if there are any features, or stats that you guys want to see, as this is your pool as much as it is mine! Let me know what you want and I shall do my best to add any features that are requested; you can contact me the normal way, email address at the bottom of the page - or Skype/MSN/GTalk etc me if you already do Smiley

Payment script is finished and currently running
2013-04-12 15:17:35 CDT

Well, after a lot of testing, I am now proud to say I have the payment system up and running. As I type this, the script is running and calculating your rewards. As I have not been able to test the actual payment through litecoin side of things, I hope all runs smoothly, but will fix any issue that may appear as quickly as I can so that you will finally be able to see your LTC in your wallet Smiley - Thanks for your patience with me, it is greatly appreciated.

My balance is still increasing. I am confident you guys will get your payouts. Day before yesterday when the site was down we kept the faith and was rewarded with a lump sum in the end.

I'm contributing  3,550 kH/s to the pool.  Estimates should be 1000/FC per day.  My balance is only growing 1FC every 30 minutes.

I'll have to wait and see what happens in the next 8 hours then.

yes but not that much.  Just assume you will need 1GB of board ram for each 1GB of video ram you have in your cards.  Then a couple GBs for the OS.
1317  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: FeatherCoin Pool - Stratum on: April 22, 2013, 05:19:59 PM
thanks for the update.  How soon before we can expect to see payout and share stats.

My concern as well is that I'm getting fractional FCs in my Wallet about every 5 minutes reporting as mined but I don't have any workers elsewhere.  Just the 3 at http://www.altpool.com.

the web server is slow.  probably due to unanticipated load.  FC became very popular over the weekend.  mining seems to be unaffected.  I get very little stale or rejects.

As to why your balance is 0.  The pool requires 120 confirmations.  Which is high right now but will go down over time.  SO it will take a while before the shares are confirmed and the coins paid out to you.  No need to worry.
