13022  Economy / Speculation / Re: Aren't we in a state of denial? (MARKET CYCLE UPDATED, VOTES RESET) on: February 07, 2016, 05:14:42 AM
As more and more time passes by I think we're all in denial.  The trend is now down.

When the Bitcoin Core decides to adopt higher block size, the price will rise dramatically. It will be at least $600.

I agree.  But what if that comes 4 - 5 years from now...?  So BTC price will stay at current level or lower?

True, and for the doubters, haven't you guys been here long enough, we've seen lows of down to $200 last year. It's a really complex cycle, a lot of factors blend in and it takes time.

What I'm concerned today is this statement:

"It's proven easier to get a bank to participate in payments standards than a bitcoin community company," by the W3C Web Payments. He further added that "these companies aren’t looking to interoperate, but instead want to dominate."

It's easy to assume that they'll kill BTC if given the chance right now.

That really didn't answer my question.  It's not about doubting..  And your answer makes me think that we are indeed in a state of denial as no one wants to face reality.  Go read the question again.

Isn't this a Bob Surplus pump and dump?
13025  Economy / Speculation / Re: New bear market? on: February 01, 2016, 01:20:38 AM
If this is indeed a bear market, then it definitely isn't new. This has been going on for the past few weeks. I am curious to find out where it will settle before recovering. My guess is somewhere in the range of $340-$350.

Correct, because the run up could have been a bull trap in the first place.

13027  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Is Ethereum a bubble? on: January 31, 2016, 12:59:09 AM
If top price of $2.5 is considered bubble, than yes. But, for me increase from 1 to 2 dollars is far from a bubble. Its just a pump.

You shouldn't look at price, the market cap tells a better story.

How is it a buy right this moment? Everything resembles a large correction may occur.

That's what everyone was saying about bitcoin when it was $10.  Admittedly times are different, but ethereum is strong in many areas.  When you look down the list of "coins" and you know enough to know, where are you going to park your money? Dogecoin? Monero? Even bitcoin looks dodgy these days.  No,  ethereum is looking more and more like the futureproof safe bet.

+1 totaly agree

But trade accordingly.  We really don't know what the future brings.  That kind of blind thinking is what made people turned here into whiny bagholders.
13028  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Is Ethereum a bubble? on: January 30, 2016, 01:16:15 PM
Also its blockchain is a whopping 6GB running just for a few months.  This is a bit of a concern and its community shouldn't put this at arm's length.  They should at least start tackling the issue by taking time discussing it.

I synced geth yesterday from nothing and it only uses 800 MB for me. Fully synced and working.

Even if it was 6GB, I don't think that would be an issue. That's really nothing in 2016.

?  Did you sync with the --fast option?  It's 6GB.

Edit:  Anyway, it's nothing now, but the bloat will become exponential as the network's users increases.

Again, people shouldn't keep this at arm's length.  Imagine if it really does become the 'world computer' with a billion users, and billions of smart contracts, the blockchain would be too huge.

So I guess the answer will depend on the market then?  If it goes down sub 300 it's denial, if it continues going up we're at optimism...?  And since no one can really predict the market, how do we really know if it's denial or optimism?
13031  Economy / Speculation / Re: Current Sentiment Poll on: January 30, 2016, 01:29:24 AM
It will not reach ATH, imho.
13032  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Is Ethereum a bubble? on: January 30, 2016, 01:25:19 AM
If I missed the run up, I wouldn't buy ETH unless there's upside momentum.
13033  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [ETH] Ethereum = Scam on: January 29, 2016, 02:02:39 PM

13034  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [ETH] Ethereum = Scam on: January 29, 2016, 09:52:46 AM
Have to admit I'm a bit surprised by this pump. The Ethereum developers even have a red slash through the word safe on the front page of their website. There might be a reason for that.

https://www.ethereum.org/

It is meant to discourage newbies and non-technical people from getting involved in the early stages.  That red slash could be removed in a year or two (or more) when Ethereum is good and ready.  That's either never happening or it's a success with ETH at over 10 USD per coin.  But it's all speculation at this point.
13035  Economy / Speculation / Re: Aren't we in a state of denial? (MARKET CYCLE UPDATED, VOTES RESET) on: January 29, 2016, 08:52:21 AM
Now that the new market cycle pic almost closely represents reality, people tend to avoid the topic of denial.
13036  Economy / Speculation / Re: Aren't we in a state of denial? (MARKET CYCLE UPDATED, VOTES RESET) on: January 29, 2016, 03:30:48 AM
gotta test 320 again before we know this last uptrend wasnt a suckers rally! so if you flip that chart I would say we are in the fear zone of an upward trend (Bear Trap)

I have the same thought.  But that's what made me ask myself if this is me in denial or not...

Nice idea.  Do it!  And let's hope other projects pick up on the idea and goes green.
13038  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Bitshares WTI Crude Oil and S&P 500 Prediction market assets now trading on: January 29, 2016, 02:13:01 AM
mad money printing

speaking of prediction markets, they also got a super bowl betting asset in play as well

Go Broncos!

Their fans are miles higher above the lower 48 ((let's alter the rest of these)states)

This.  And they should do other sporting events as well.  That could attract users if marketed well.
13039  Economy / Speculation / Re: Aren't we in a state of denial? on: January 29, 2016, 01:58:49 AM
Tongue

This is exactly what I had in mind!  I will post this in the OP.

Just wondering, why do people around here refer Bernake as 'Helicopter Ben'?  Why Helicopter?
