13161  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: How difficult is it for Bitcoin to hard fork? Thoughts on BTC becoming PoW/PoSV? on: May 01, 2014, 10:08:10 AM
It's already nearly impossible to do 51% attack on BTC, only if certain pools will fuse together.

Bitcoin is working fine, for sure not the best/fastest coin, but it works very well. I have never been a fan of hardforks as it will cause a lot confusion.
In fact, we don't need altcoins, yes there are some very nice coins out there, but we don't need them.

These hard fork enthusiasts will always compain, now they want this, 6 months later they want another hard fork.....
13162  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Exchanges only care about money INCLUDING mintpal on: May 01, 2014, 09:57:46 AM
Recently I have been hearing a lot of complaints about high profile exchanges that only add the latest scam pump and dump coins and not honest coins with a bright future, while this may be the case at the end of the day most exchanges only care about making btc through high trade volumes.
A lot of people were surprised when mintpal added whitecoin, infact there was plenty jokes going around about whitecoin being created after blackcoin on btc-e and poloniex troll boxes because we knew it would start the color coin revolution and today we have a lot of colors to choose from.

None of these coins will add any value besides the enjoyment of playing the pump and dump game. Most of these coins won't add real value outside the crypto world and most certainly won't contribute to growing the industry. We all know for a fact 99% of these colour coins will be a distant memory in 1 year from now.

Why Mintpal is smart is because they ride the high trade volumes for new coins added and then will remove them when volumes dip under a certain amount, hell at the end of the day exchanges don't give a shit about crypto currencies that will have a use but low trade volumes, it's just business. Scam coins have matured and need a lot of btc to get listed onto exchanges now, also scam coins need to show some form of "innovation" to make some btc. This is a good thing because it kills off shitcoins and scam coins with no btc behind it.

Why is that a surprise to you ? I'm not sure if they really are doing this, but I would exactly do the same Smiley

Exchanges are businesses, they have to make money. If you cannot deal with this, then quit trading.

Great news, nice to have Bloomberg onboard Smiley
13164  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Why the owners of Vircurex should be in jail... on: April 30, 2014, 09:18:08 PM
Aside from the ponzi scheme where they used their customers money to pay their own debt. They are now depositing .0003 BTC into my account every day to make up for the 13 BTC they took without my permission. If you can do 3rd grade math then you know it will only take 43,333 days for me to get my money back... or 118 years if you prefer a smaller number. These guys need to own up to their mismanagement of their exchange and deposit all of the BTC they took back into their customers accounts.

Sorry to hear man! Vircurex has quite a bit unhappy users.

@ Joshuar

BTC-E is 100% fair, they are not taking funds from users.
13165  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The only way forward is to split it. on: April 29, 2014, 05:57:29 PM
Some of the people that I know say "I'm not buying Bitcoin at this price"
And I kinda can understand that, paying 450$ per 1BTC is very difficult for some people when they know the price at a certain time was like 5$ per 1BTC.

13166  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Want to buy 10,000,000 NXT on: April 29, 2014, 07:41:58 AM
This is nonsense! If you really wanted to buy that much you wouldn't post here about it. If you're legit then buy from an exchange like we all do!!!!!!
13167  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Correct me if I'm wrong, but... on: April 29, 2014, 07:38:13 AM
Cash money is best for money laundring, Bitcoin is kinda traceable, you only don't know who the person is.

What I don't understand is : Why are some guys moving 20000BTC or more from one wallet to the other, some times you can see that they used more than 100 or so wallets... But at the end you can still see the 20000K BTC lol.... Effort for nothing ?
13168  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is Bitcoin just a stepping stone to something better? on: April 29, 2014, 07:32:17 AM
Why are people always referring to "only 21 Million coins" there will be one day that Bitcoin is so expensive that people will struggle with getting 0.3BTC let alone 1 BTC
13169  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [BCN] Logo contest. Huge reward! on: April 28, 2014, 12:05:31 PM
As it is CPU only minable, i chose CPU pins to design the logo.
Quality is poor, but this can easily been improved.

Integrated into a coin it might look like that:

That one is the best so far, very impressive.

13172  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Mother keeps bugging her about her money. on: April 28, 2014, 09:55:56 AM
your screwed.. the only reason at all it was priced as it was way back then is because of people like you who
who came in in droves flooding this scene buying everything that was not nailed down for obscene and often stupid prices..
the market died down and the new users came to a trickle and the new guys started to smarten up.

I started before the crowd came and we we're waiting for you guys for ages ready to sell you high priced coins..
holding a knife and fork tongue hanging out with a napkin tucked in our shirts lol
we all laughed about it regularly on Cryptsy chat saying their coming....
And sure enough you guys did and threw your cash around like crazy.
All i seen every couple seconds on chat was how do i transfer money from my bank account to Cryptsy lol

those days are gone and the scene went 1000000x more scammy insuring no professional people will ever set foot in here EVER again !
Blame the Doge 'tards, greedy exchanges etc and moron noobs throwing money around.. kids shoudln't be spending big money sorry.

your money is gone .

That comment says it all!

Why did you even bother buying NMC at such a high price ? At that time everything was sooo frickin expensive that only gamblers were buying way overprised coins.

Look at Litecoin, I'm sure there are still people holding $40 LTC...... Huh Huh Why on earth would anyone buy LTC above $20 and hold it Huh?

Be smart next time and don't buy with money you can't afford to lose. I'm sorry to say, but 90% chance that you lost the most of that $3000

In other wordS you are saying its a 90% risk that NMC will never go to 8dollars again?

The only thing you can do now is hold your NMC and wait for it to reach $3/$4 and then sell them. But that's up to you. Never say never in crypto market, but I don't think we will see $8 anytime soon.

A tip :

Whales are placing huge buy orders to trick noobs into thinking a certain coin will go up, then the whale buys everything available (mostly his own sell orders) after that once again you will see some huge buy orders to keep the price at that level for a while, once the whale think he made enough profit you will see the price go down very hard. Classic pump & dump, don't fall for it... In high volume days they can make easy 50K $ per day from noobs.

13174  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Am I one of the few who is glad China is banning itself? on: April 28, 2014, 08:44:29 AM
China out! After China have banned itself 100 times we can finally move forward. Current Bitcoin price is what I consider a legit price in this situation. It may go down a lil bit more, but not too much.

The first thing people need to do is STOP buying these Bitcoin ban articles from China.
How many times will noobs panic sell their Bitcoins, and after that, they buy again for a higher price, while the next day they sell again with a loss... ?? Does that make sense?

Forget China, and focus on other things  Cheesy Grin

OK.
The Bitcoin community should do a "crazy stunt" like the DOGE race car, but not another car....something original and memorable.
What can we do?

Hmm, what about a BTC hot air balloon, or tv-ads, not sure if that is original enough  Cheesy

But I think we as community could also do things to help Bitcoin, instead of waiting for retailers to accept BTC
A lot retailers don't know how they can benefit from accepting Bitcoin. And most of them don't even know how Bitcoin works or what it exactly is, except from hearing in the news that the price reached $1000

I will try to talk with some local businesses about how they can benefit from Bitcoin, and how save it is as payment method.

13177  Other / Off-topic / Re: I'm Broke and Life Sucks... pls donate on: April 27, 2014, 09:08:07 PM
Look in chatrooms, guys are pretending to be girls in order to get more donations. And also you hear a lot sad stories, such as, I am sick, I need to pay rent but I don't have money, I have no money to buy food, etc..

It is funny how low people will go for a tiny donation   Grin

13178  Other / Off-topic / Re: Champions League Semi Return Legs on: April 27, 2014, 09:03:09 PM
I think Real Madrid will go to the final, Bayern Munich needed a goal in Madrid last week, but they didn't score.
If Real Madrid will make a goal in Munich, and I'm sure they will with Ronaldo, Bale, Di Maria, Benzema, then Bayern need to score atleast 3 goals to go through.

I hope Atletico will beat Chelsea, a 0-0 draw isn't a bad result. Both teams are excellent in defending, but only 1 team can reach the final. 50% Atletico 50% Chelsea, are the chances.

13179  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: ROFL, cex.io maintenance fee is up to 30% on: April 27, 2014, 09:06:29 AM
The fees haven't gone up.

The mining reward per GH has gone down a lot.

So the same fees as a % of the mining reward has gone up.

Eg.

Before you had $3 in fees, and had $100 in bitcoins mined

Now you'll have $3 in fees, and $10 in bitcoins mined w/ the same GH.

That is right, the lower the reward is, the higher the fee will be. They don't have to do anything, it happens automatically  Grin
13180  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: PeerCoin the longterm storage of high value on: April 27, 2014, 08:52:31 AM
PeerCoin is quite a nice coin, and is actually very good for using to do payments. But this coin got covered with a layer of dust because of the newer coins that have been released nowadays.
