Same offer for me? Wink
After someone pays me (I have also read every post in this topic)!
Grin

We all deserve a prize to have waded through 1200 pages.

Edit: Kasperski if you're reading this forum please post so we can negotiate

Man - to have waded through 1200 pages of this topic I think he would have already have had to be paid more than 10 BTC.

*whistles innocently and points to his sig*

Same offer for me? Wink

OK, I can't keep up responding to all of you jumping at me like this.

I'm not jumping at you. I respect your position. I just disagree and want to explain why.
I understand the worries, but don't think it will be that much of an issue.

I also respect you for voicing your opinion!
1325  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NXT :: descendant of Bitcoin - Updated Information on: January 23, 2014, 04:43:48 PM
I dont think you understand the meaning of the term "RESPECTED academic".  I capitalized that important word there to stress the emphasis on that word for you.

Oh no, I understand it. Part of RESPECT is not taking money from people, whose work you are reviewing.

Or maybe it's just my right-and-wrong model is outdated, judging by the number of people here, who think it's totally Ok.

And if you plan him to go through source, then shouldn't you just hire a company to do your security audit, not an academic?

Sad as it is, even academics need more money these days.
Let him put it towards funding some of his/her research. Smiley

Edit: CIYAM's version is even better.
1326  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NXT :: descendant of Bitcoin - Updated Information on: January 23, 2014, 04:38:18 PM
... a respected academic to thoroughly review Nxt and write a paper on it...
And paying $16,000 to a "respected academic" to review your whitepaper just doesn't feel right.

It reduces it to "9 out of 10 dentists recommend" kind of thing... Well, not exactly, but a step in that direction.

And I certainly wouldn't want people to say "oh, and that review they did? They paid $16,000 for it, so...".

I would read this in the complete opposite way.

The reason for that is that we would do it *completely in the open*

I would read it as "The NXT community is so commited to the integrity of their system that they were willing to hire an independent academic to take potshots at it to be sure it is safe and sound"

Same information, different interpretation.

Someone who will want to make it shady, will always try to make it look bad, but if we are completely open about it there is not a lot you can say.

The "9 out of 10 dentist" example is one where the deal would be hidden, so the comparison isn't valid.

I think we need an english thread for C-f-B's project.

Maybe we should start a donation thread to get him a PA or a butler(ette).

This will probably mean my summaries need to get longer.
Either you guys post more here or I'll be forced to start posting this thread completely  Grin

I would also be VERY interested in this. It's a great way to create an incentive for people to build sites that captivate people instead of just copy/pasting crap all over the interwebs.

I would be very surprised if this doesn't get a fair share of attention. It's also marketable in the same way that the mining <> forging pair is.

I am very impressed.

Hold on. We need to prove the concept 1st.

I know.

Just saying that íf it works, it will be a great addition to the way websites are monetised.
It will incentivise content over a quick fix, which is good.

(interested Wink )

Dude, don't piss on my coin.  This is my first and final warning.

You piss on ZTC,  I will piss on NXT.

Are we back in kindergarten now?

That would explain the kitty cats. Smiley

So I get LAK if people klick on my Blog?

No. Longer people stay on ur blog, more coins u get.

This will probably mean my summaries need to get longer.

By the way, in regards to your tactics, you actually are rather like a common psychic conster.

- it also may mean: "I might respond within a few months, but for $16000 I might respond within a few days"  :-)

Doesn't it bother you, guys, that paying a large sum of money for a crypto review is... well... kinda smells bad?

What's wrong with paying people for work?

Also, it's out here in the open, so I fail to see how it could be seen a somehow shady.

If we were to make some kind of alleyway trade with BTC, it would be different.
1333  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] NEX :: descendant of NXT - Imagine Fairness! on: January 23, 2014, 12:16:58 PM
I think you need to check the Nxt to NEX exchange thread to correct your facts.

The Nxt to NEX exchange is a reservation to exchange coins when the NEX implementation is made available.

So with that in mind.

(a)  I do not know when Nxt will crash,  but that is just my expectations.  I cannot know with precision what the time frame will be.  But it could be tomorrow or it could be a year from now.  All I know is the source code is vulnerable.

This is smart. A prophet without a time frame. This is a very old trick used by con artists. By phrasing this way you can never be proven wrong. Either give a time frame and reason, or you have joined the ranks of consters through history.

Quote
(c) As stated before,  the Nxt that will be acquired will be sold as soon as possible on the BTER exchange.  There is no motivation to hold Nxt.   So there will be zero forging of the Nxt that is acquired.  The Nxt will go straight to an exchange to be sold.

I thought you couldn't deposit on Bter? Has it changed all of a sudden?

One of the folks helping develop NEX is in fact the person who invented Nxt's 100% Proof of Stake.   Nxt stole his invention and provided zero attribution to this person.

I'll believe it once you give a solid name. Until then we just have your word for it, which has already proven to be unreliable.

On a similar note: where's the code?
1334  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] NEX :: Nxt Reimagined - Imagine Fairness! on: January 23, 2014, 01:07:19 AM
For the life of me... I have no idea where you folks are coming from!

I love the fact that your one tactic of just ignoring anything you don't like and going on the offensive with whatever comes to kind works so well for you.

Did you pay for the seminar or was it part of a training on the job?

Anyway, code?
1335  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] NEX :: Nxt Reimagined - Imagine Fairness! on: January 23, 2014, 01:00:29 AM
Edit: also, you promised to release the decompiled code that you had removed. It's been over half a day.

I don't need to release something that is supposedly open source.  Go ask the Nxt folks for the source.   All I have is supposedly a version that has 'a lot of traps'.

'A lot of traps' --- man that really cracks me up!  Where did you dig up your founder from?

He's probably making like what... $10 a day over in Belarus.

Oh, I don't care about the code itself. I'm just calling you out on saying something and then not following through.

It's amazing how effective just asking you to deliver on your promises is in showing everyone that you don't keep your word.

Oh, and a xenophobe to boot. Go on, keep posting. I won't ever be as effective at destroying your reputation as you are.

Okay... apologies for the $10 a day remark... maybe $25 a day would be more accurate.

Yes, yes. We already know you equate money with ability from your last post.

Go fairness!

would I be chatting with riff raff like you folks?

And this is the voice of classlessness and fairness Smiley

Glad to see you are finally honest for a change.

Does quoting someone now make you that person in this thread?

Cool,NEX is indeed innovative!

OK, you don't have to rush, we need as much info as possible. Many numbers too.
I could provide lots of data, whatever we might need. Performance / load, Power consumption, solar stuff (autonomy time etc), prices / part lists. Not sure yet though about what format would be good to write this up in.

Quote
And pictures. Maybe you know some Pro / half Pro photographer, who could make some really cool photos. If we had them in 10 days, that would be fantastic.
Somehow, to me this setup doesn't seem suitable for real high-end photography. I mean look, it's a really simple case and an actual cardboard box I'm using Undecided My own photography hardware is almost nonexistant. Best thing I could come up with is an iPhone 4s.

Here are two more fun shots:

First is the setup running autonomously (notice only incoming cable: ethernet), second is the solar/battery load regulator and the actual LiPoly.

You might be interested to know that your picture was very popular today, both on my blog (most popular topic with over 700 unique hits) and on Twitter. This was very good for PR as it showed the ridiculousness of expensive setups.
