1321  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: Wasabi wallet data privacy questions on: July 14, 2023, 01:24:23 PM
It doesn't matter how much data Wasabi wallet knows but from who are you trying to hide your data?

If it is from Wasabi wallet aka zkSNACKs, according to the some open data, they can know all the addresses associated with the CoinJoin process, down to your IP addresses, and all the details of your addresses or addresses that you may generate in the future.
But with this data they cannot identify you as you can enhance your privacy by running a full node using TOR and using an additional mixing layers.

The problem is if those trying to search for you are law enforcement agencies like the FBI, they can contact Google, Apple, Bing, Microsoft, coinbase, some electrum servers, block explorers, zzz, etc. Then trying to hide your identity may be next to impossible. Remember, the owner of ChipMixer has been tracked down and arrested. https://www.justice.gov/opa/press-release/file/1574581/download

if you care about your privacy, Wasabi wallet is not a privacy option.
1322  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: TimechainStats.com - FREE BTC Resources - NO ADS on: July 14, 2023, 01:10:24 PM
Just a noob question. We knew that 21 million is the maximum supply of Bitcoin and I've seen that there's 20,999,999.97 on your website's supply. Is there an explanation technically why it's not whole 21 million?
Because there are not 21 million bitcoins, but we say that there are approximately ~21 million bitcoins, the real number is 20,999,999.97, and there is always a less than 21M because of the number of lost bitcoins.
why 20,999,999.97 because every 210,000 blocks, block reward is divided by 2, starting from 50 BTC to 25 > 12,5 >6,25 >3,125,....

1323  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: Trust Wallet Alternative (multi currency) on: July 14, 2023, 10:47:31 AM

AFAIK trust Wallet is not completely open source whereas Mycelium is however this is not safe for storing cryptos for long period as I said earlier cause it is prone to attacks also user feedback of mycelium android is not great cause it is filled with a lot of glitches and even many people claimed that they can't see their balance even after enough confirmations.
Trust wallet is not open source, and even the code that appears for part of the wallet is not the code that you are currently downloading, so it cannot be trusted.
https://wallet.mycelium.com/ It is a good wallet, but it is for Bitcoin only, and I do not think that it supports any altcoins.

I do not know why there is no diligence in developing an open source multi-currency wallet, but even those that claim to be open source will be far from closed source wallets and will not get the same features.
1324  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: TimechainStats.com - FREE BTC Resources - NO ADS on: July 13, 2023, 02:06:00 PM
Why did you choose to change domain name from LiveBitcoinData.com It looks great and is easier to remember, it's true that LiveBitcoinData redirected to the current page but I see that .com is getting less used if you are just thinking about changing the domain name.
UI looks professional and the response is good, but it contains the basic characteristics found in CMC, and therefore it needs more work, not a reduction your effort, as UI is better than CMC, but you need something unique that does not currently exist.

NO ADS and stocks VS BTC is a good you need to add about fees and move free charts.
1325  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: What Wallet Do You Store Your Bitcoin? on: July 13, 2023, 01:42:28 PM
Logically no ways to have such interest from a non custodial wallet.
If cryptocurrency is based on proof of stake, you can get a percentage for each address you own based on how saking work in that crypto, but that percentage increases as the number of coins you buy increases, and the reason you get some return is that you venture to invest in that currency.

some POS blockchain need min amount of coins like 32 ETH and other need to have address with balance like ADA.

So yes, there are methods for staking in from a non custodial wallet
Can you staking bitcoins from a non custodial wallet? No, because Bitcoin works based on proof of work. Here you will need a third party to benefit from your bitcoins and share the profit with you.

1326  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Bitcoin trading and gambling on: July 13, 2023, 01:17:37 PM
An uncalculated or random investment in Bitcoin without a clear strategy is closer to gambling, but the opposite is not true.
Not every investment in Bitcoin is gambling, but rather an adventure in a high-risk, volatile asset. Your knowledge and analysis of price patterns, and risk-calculated investment in assets you don't need soon reduces those risks and turns them into a good investment or the best long-term investment.
Your knowledge and dealing with risks will determine whether it is a good investment or closer to gambling.

More can be added but this will not be the easiest definition of the difference between them.
1327  Economy / Speculation / Re: When will you sell...next bull run? on: July 13, 2023, 01:08:04 PM
Your profit achievement depends on the date of purchase more than the date of sale. If you bought at 16k, you can sell now and  you are making a profit, or wait for the next year or any time, as it is unlikely that Bitcoin will return again to the price of 16k.

Determining the exact time of new ATH is impossible, so you can try:

Sell 10% when the price is up 20% from the previous ATH.
Sell 30% when the price goes up by 80% from the previous ATH.
Sell 40% when the price increases by more than 120%  from the previous ATH.
Sell 10% when the price goes up by 160% from the previous ATH.
Sell 10% when the price goes up 200% from the previous ATH.

Mostly, the new ATH will be about 140k, and when the price approaches this price, it is assumed that you have sold 80% before that, and not to start selling after price exceeds 140ks.
1328  Economy / Economics / Re: I want to get spot bitcoin ETF news directly from the SEC on: July 13, 2023, 12:30:33 PM
You opened up a new level of fear about the ETF, we've already had a few times where the ETF was rejected and it didn't affect the price

July 2013: The first ever attempt at a Bitcoin ETF came from Cameron and Tyler Winklevoss, who proposed the Winklevoss Bitcoin Trust. The SEC officially rejected the proposal in March 2017.
July 2017: Grayscale officially filed an application for its Grayscale Bitcoin Trust (OTCQX:GBTC) in July 2017. Three months later, Grayscale withdrew its application to the SEC and chose to list its fund on the OTC market.

January 2019: Bitwise proposed the Bitwise Bitcoin ETF Trust in January 2019. The SEC rejected its proposal about nine months later.

June 2020: WisdomTree submitted an application for a commodity fund that would invest up to 5% of its assets in Bitcoin futures. WisdomTree followed up by proposing a separate Bitcoin ETF just this month.

December 2020: SEC Chair Jay Clayton stepped down from his position. In January 2021, President Joe Biden nominated former chairman of the Commodity Future Trading Commission Gary Gensler as Clayton’s replacement.

Quote the link below and you will find that more than 10 ETFs have already been rejected.

https://markets.businessinsider.com/news/etf/bitcoin-etf-proposals-the-sec-s-long-history-of-rejections-1030261105

Even when the first US BITCOIN ETF is officially announced, the moment will rise by 10% to 20%, and this will be followed by a rise, but it is in the long term. Such news will spread quickly, and the trading bots will be quick to take advantage of the easy profits. your only chance is to know the matter before it happens, and it is information that is difficult for the average user to obtain without having relationships. guessing and assuming that Bitcoin will rise during the next two years is the best solution.
1329  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: Trust Wallet Alternative (multi currency) on: July 13, 2023, 12:12:58 PM
Guarda wallet is also a noncustodial, open-sourced wallet that supports 50+ coins also with purchase features with multiple options so it is a good alternative for trust wallet but keep in mind it is not safe as other types of wallet since the device we install this wallet has to be connected with internet to access the assets which make them vulnerable to attacks.

I tried to download this wallet, they claim to be an open source wallet by putting GitHub link, but looking at the code it is archived and therefore the code that is launched on the Google Play store is closed source https://github.com/guardaco/guarda-android-wallets

I haven't checked desktop code, but being is open source (and I doubt it) doesn't mean it's safe Guarda wallet need a lot of developers to check and review the code and not Excellent Score 4.6 on TrustPilot.

I recommend you to avoiding Guarda wallet as you may end up with the same A Non-Custodial wallet, Atomic Wallet, being compromised.

unstoppable wallet is a good wallet but sometimes it is better to use multiple wallets than one combined wallet, you have various options for bitcoin and Ethereum, so you guarantee all ERC20. So use Electrum/samourai for bitcoin, NEW for Ethereum, and unstoppable wallet for other altcoins.

Buying a hardware wallet is a good option in this case.
1330  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: ledger rollback ledger live on: July 13, 2023, 11:57:04 AM
I then downloaded and accessed the correct older appimage ledger live that was the one newer than the release date associated with the firmware on my ledger nano s.  Using this appimage I was able to transfer successfully (without being forced to upgrade firmware).

By using the Electrum wallet, you do not need to update the firmware, as your private keys can be managed from that wallet, but the problem is with sending altcoins. Electrum is a Bitcoin only wallet and you need to use another software for altcoins.
At some point, you will find that you have to update the firmware to send a currency or for critical bug, and using old firmware may not be a smart move.

Whenever you start to doubt your hardware wallet, do not panic and start a careful search for alternatives. You can ask here after searching.
1331  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: [List] Wallet Software Discussion on: July 12, 2023, 11:26:30 PM
That is the purpose of a written backup that should be safely stored somewhere. If the phone for cold storage stops working, the funds would not be lost because there is backup to recover the funds.
What I am trying to say is that these old devices, and because of their use or neglect for long periods, the possibility of failure in them is higher than the wallets of traditional devices, and therefore you either need to use a new phone, which means a greater cost, or re-install the wallet every time because of the high probability of failure of the old devices. I suspect that it is easy to convert new devices to airgapped because these devices are deeply designed to facilitate Internet connection and calls.
1332  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: [Discussion] Arkham Intelligence on: July 12, 2023, 11:17:36 PM
Isn't that what walletexplorer.com does all the time? you use walletexplorer to search for other people's wallet addresses, but they provide their data to Chainalysis, which uses such services as a honeycomb to collect more data, with some available as results for this service.

We have many similar services, such as who called me, which have been popular and successful. if they manage them well and work hard on promotion, they will have a lot of data that helps them continue to provide their services.
1333  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: The wallet is not responding! on: July 12, 2023, 10:57:14 PM

No particular issues were observed, the 2nd server had a few "Server busy" sync restarts which I didn't observe on any of the other servers, even the snail slow server bitcoin.lu.ke sifted through the addresses in slow but steady pace. Still, this server won't see my wallet ever again.  Cheesy

So, in the case of the user, switching the server to another one will solve the problem? If this is true, then it is the best solution instead of the headache of extracting the private keys, including them in the BitcoinCore wallet, and waiting for the synchronization.

thanks for testing
1334  Economy / Exchanges / Re: You are probably paying more to get your Bitcoin on: July 12, 2023, 10:39:45 PM
These wallets use a third party to perform exchange between cryptocurrencies, and therefore you pay two commissions, one of which is related to the third party, and the other is the real transfer fee, and it differs according to the cryptocurrency pair and the source of those coins from CEXs or DEXs, and therefore comparing it with one CEXs seems unfair.
I am against integrating central exchange interfaces into wallets, but it is a good alternative for beginners with zero knowledge, and not for traders. But if you are a trader, you will definitely have ways to withdraw bitcoins with the lowest possible fees.

Sometimes withdrawals to the wallet are considered additional risks and additional costs like the need to track the news of the developer team to know the accelerating variables (hard-fork/burn/change smart contract add) to those that developers can freeze inside your coins inside your wallet.
1335  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Keystone 3 HW coming soon! on: July 12, 2023, 09:54:28 PM
As mentioned in their agenda, some of Secure Elements information has been released.
Secure Elements: The Bedrock of Hardware Wallet Security
https://blog.keyst.one/secure-elements-the-bedrock-of-hardware-wallet-security-1dd8cbdef461

Advanced Defenses of Secure Elements

  • Fending off Side-Channel Attacks
  • Hindering Power Analysis Attacks
  • Thwarting Cold Boot Attacks
  • Repelling Fault Attacks

Quote
The Keystone 3 is currently the ONLY hardware wallet that incorporates the use of three distinct secure elements: the Microchip ATECC608B, Maxim DS28S60, and Maxim MAX32520, offering a level of security that is unmatched.

Microchip ATECC608B and Maxim DS28S60 are specifically engineered to safeguard seed phrases. They collaboratively produce a secure environment for seed phrase storage, with the ATECC608B providing hardware-level security and authorization, and the DS28S60 ensuring a trusted platform module is always in place.

The Maxim MAX32520, on the other hand, is a secure microcontroller unit that plays a vital role in securing fingerprint data. It utilizes encrypted flash storage for safeguarding a user’s fingerprint data, with the verification process being executed securely within the MCU (only available in the Keystone 3 Pro).

Additionally, Keystone 3 incorporates a PCI-grade anti-tampering feature, with an intricate ‘security house’ of circuitry encompassing the core IC and SE chips. Any physical tampering results in an immediate data wipeout, further strengthening the device’s resilience. We’ll be publishing a separate article delving deeper into this topic in the coming weeks.

It seems that there are promising things, but they remain promises unless we get an accurate review from a third party, such as hardware professionals, or those who succeeded in hacking some HW with physical access to the device.
1336  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: The wallet is not responding! on: July 12, 2023, 04:25:04 PM
My local Electrum server (Fulcrum) runs on a Raspi 4B 8GB RAM with a 1TB SSD and fetches data from a Bitcoin Core 24.0.1 daemon running on the same Raspi (RaspiBlitz with active LND with a few channels which keeps the Raspi busy, too). The Electrum wallets are opened on an "ancient" ThinkPad T520 with 8GB RAM, a 1TB SATA SSD running Ubuntu 22.04.02 LTS.
This is interesting, and another proof that the problem is in the servers and not in the software. I think 8 GB of RAM is suitable, so can you randomly try some of available servers? 3-5 servers to see if switching between servers will solve this problem or the user must run a full node.

I hope that one of the members to run a private electrum Bitcointalk server instead of those free servers that Chainalysis may spy on.
1337  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: The BTC/USD rate data source on: July 10, 2023, 05:38:52 PM
Hi colleagues. I use the "Blockchaininfo" as a source of the current BTC/USD rate in electrum.
Perhaps the reason for this is due to blockchain.info blockchain.info API down?

Quote
Unfortunately, we have stopped issuing new Wallet API keys and cannot provide any specific time frame for when they will become available again. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience caused.

According to WBM, at least on the 15th of April you were still able to sign up for an API key[1], but somewhere between that date and 2nd of June the website became unavailable. Perhaps they have disabled the API signup page and now you have to be registered in order to get an API key? They do mention that on their documentation[2] page.

[1]https://web.archive.org/web/20230415162458/https://api.blockchain.info/customer/signup
[2]https://exchange.blockchain.com/api/#to-get-started

don't know, but the problem is not related to electrum, so we can't expect good API from blockchain.info. Just stop using them.
1338  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Ledger Live pulled out unknown Bitcoin account while my 'new accounts' creation. on: July 10, 2023, 05:21:04 PM
This is called a dust attack, a Google search will give you more information but it is mostly not linked to any criminal activity, and some transactional analysis services may do it to correlate your addresses.

To avoid having more of your addresses exposed or to enhance your privacy, link your wallet to Electrum and use the coin control feature, then you can spend specific UTXOs in Electrum. access Electrum via tor is an extra privacy bonus.

1339  Economy / Digital goods / Crypto Market making bot to get high profit on: July 10, 2023, 05:06:47 PM
These bots need high liquidity in order to have an impact on the market making bot, or at least there are a large number of users sufficient to move the price of a currency. In any case, what they offer is help to scam beginners by coordinating a sacrificial attack and dumping, so it is closer to scam, and I do not know if there is a way legally this can be done.
1340  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: [List] Wallet Software Discussion on: July 10, 2023, 04:15:47 PM
It's the first time I've heard of this service, the attached table is a little misleading, and the name as well, since using the wallet use will determine whether it's airgapped or offline, it would have been better for them to choose another name, but other than that, it offers an experience that we can consider safe for beginners.

My problem is that using an old phone as AirGap Vault is not an ideal experience because these phones may stop at any moment, but if you have a phone that you do not want to use and disconnect the physicals network parts properly, you will get a safe experience.

I will try it later but it is good and can be added to the list.
