13321  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: CatholicCoin - Catholic Coin - Religion Coin on: July 08, 2013, 07:38:05 AM
The word 'Catholic' just means 'Universal'.
Bitcoin is already the universal coin.

That's like saying McDonalds or Coke is universal.

There's no such thing.  Bitcoin is only a first mover and is lacking in many things.  For example, what % of their coins goes to charity?  Oh, zero.  There's a problem if you're looking for a good cause coin.
13322  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Launching a CatholicCoin vs. a GoodSamaritanCoin or Both on: July 08, 2013, 07:34:16 AM

I am not religious,
and
from my single point of view,   a GoodCauseCoin would surely be worth to look more into it, and if true to its name, definitely would adopt it.

PM us,  we are interested in something similar, and already have our functional development 100% done.

I take that back, I have been on a domain name buying binge and I have nearly 140 coin domain names and I just checked and GoodCauseCoin is one of the coin domains I do own.

But that's the extent I can help with.

I'm not a programmer and I have very limited funds so I'm afraid I have nothing of value to offer.  I own these domain names so I'm trying to find a programmer to work with or funding to hire a programmer.  But thanks for the offer and your input.
13324  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Mass Market Appeal Coin - SantaCoin on: July 08, 2013, 07:23:44 AM
I'm really surprised nobody is excited in the least about the idea of a mass market appeal coin.  I thought a sports coin or a religion based coin would excite some people but it's not happening.

So how about a benign mass market coin which isn't offensive to anyone - well, some people get offended by oxygen.

What about SantaCoin or SantaClauseCoin, as I have both domains?

It doesn't get more mass market or harmless than that?  Come on, there's gotta be better, way better ideas than naming a coin after a bird feather.  Yet feathercoin is worth nearly $1 million after less than 60 days.

Can't anyone see the earth shattering potential here for a mass market coin if it's launched right and marketed properly?  The potential is enormous.  Thanks for your voting efforts.

What say you?
13325  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Launching a CatholicCoin vs. a GoodSamaritanCoin or Both on: July 08, 2013, 07:16:55 AM
None. Stop it

Seriously, stop what?

You don't think religions aren't entitled to their own coins like their own websites?  That's closed minded.

And I'm trying to find the least offensive way.  I just bought the 2 Good Samaritan domains just for that reason.

These coins would have mass, true mass appeal and they would actually do a lot of good for society.  I can't think of much good Bitcoin has done besides Silk Road.  Seriously.  A little bit of CSR would be nice for a coin.
13326  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Launching a CatholicCoin vs. a GoodSamaritanCoin or Both on: July 08, 2013, 07:14:38 AM
It needs an extra word, no coin has a 2 letter abbreviaton. I suggest CGC
It could get popular real fast with some the right kind of marketing Wink

I get it.  3 letters are cool but I tried to keep it really simple as simple is almost always better.  I'll see what feedback I get.

Thanks.
13327  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Launching a CatholicCoin vs. a GoodSamaritanCoin or Both on: July 08, 2013, 07:13:34 AM
but seriously i dont think any religion coin will work and people that follow those religions would find it offensive.  Imagine if they had Jesus printed on money, the Christians/Catholics would find it extremely offensive and probably start rioting.

I agree.   I would never put Jesus or God on the money.

But I disagree.  Nearly 2 billion Christians use visual aids called icons.  Images of Mary and such.

And the Catholic Church has sold catholic coins of all kinds for a long time with actual images of saints and event Jesus.

It's taboo right now cause people don't understand it but once bitcoin gets out by next year this will be just like the Internet only bigger.

Most religions aren't that closed mined.  They would love a new clean revenue source which also helps out millions of people.

Thanks for all your input.
13328  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Launching a CatholicCoin vs. a GoodSamaritanCoin or Both on: July 08, 2013, 06:29:11 AM
Please vote honestly as I want to start CatholicCoin but I'm getting blasted by religion haters.  That's understandable but I think a lot can come from such a coin as well as massive and quick adoption and profits for those who mine or buy-in early.

Or a non-religion based GoodSamaritanCoin may be a better idea? I left out other religions like MormonCoin but obviously all of those are possible.

Thank you for voting!
13329  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: CatholicCoin - Catholic Coin - Religion Coin on: July 08, 2013, 06:21:50 AM
Can I get a vote?

How many think a GoodSamaritanCoin would be better than a CatholicCoin?

How about both?

Thanks.
13330  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: CatholicCoin - Catholic Coin - Religion Coin on: July 08, 2013, 06:19:19 AM
@Spiral,

Bro, thanks for your input.  I just bought GoodSamaritanCoin.com and GoodSamaritanCoin.org cause I think that fits perfectly in a non-denominational charity coin.  Better than orphanCoin as that coin intended for orphans and widows specifically since they have nobody to help them.

Great ideas here.  This is what I was hoping for.
13331  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: CatholicCoin - Catholic Coin - Religion Coin on: July 08, 2013, 06:05:48 AM

Or CatholicCoin could just be an organization that runs a set of pools for alt coins with 25% fee that goes toward your causes with the same effect. Either way, do what you want, I may end up using the last idea myself if it's passed over.

Man, I read your post again and this last idea really sunk in.  I really love it and that would work like a general Christian Coin For any religion and anyone who wants to support charity.  That didn't even cross my mind. It would be like a shell corporation or an incubator corporation - basically funneling coins and money from other coins who want to be part of "the Good Samaritan Network."

Wow, I just came up with that.  That would be amazing - a Good Samaritan Network.  There's nothing like it in the world.

Evil has the Silk Road and the good side can have the Good Samaritan Network.

Man, see what happens in just 5 minutes after we stop hating each other?  Thanks so much for your input.
13332  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: CatholicCoin - Catholic Coin - Religion Coin on: July 08, 2013, 06:00:17 AM
Always on topic. I agree that feathercoin isn't much in the way of innovation and a charity coin would be a needed thing. By naming it and associating it with something that a lot of people dislike or even despise isn't the right direction, though. I've already said that, though...

I'd support a charity coin that gives to good causes. Especially if it could be teamed with some good devs to be merge-mined with other scrypt coin(s). Or CatholicCoin could just be an organization that runs a set of pools for alt coins with 25% fee that goes toward your causes with the same effect. Either way, do what you want, I may end up using the last idea myself if it's passed over.

There you go, brother.  Excellent input.

How about this.  I got this one for my own personal thing if I ever made any real money I wanted to launch another coin and give 60% to charity, 15% to admin and the rest to miners. This would be basically a pure charity coin.  Some only give 20% or 10% to miners so its not anything new.

The coin is OrphanCoin.com.   But I Didn't think anyone would care about that, so I left it in the back burner as a personal goal if I ever had the money.

But that plays in exactly what you say. So I'm glad you said something.
13333  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: CatholicCoin - Catholic Coin - Religion Coin on: July 08, 2013, 05:52:24 AM
Man, I really thought more people would see the potential here.  This really sucks.  Maybe I'm off.  But it's so obvious if no name coins can do so well, a namebrand coin with a huge following would do much much better.  I mean, it's common sense, yet nobody sees it so I don't know what to think.

I'm really let down.  Deflated.  I wish I could call the pope, even though I'm not Catholic and let it out on him for the bad image the CC has these days.  Alas, maybe the timing is wrong.  We'll see. If I could program or had the money to hire a programmer I'd do it myself and test out my theory the old fashioned way:  on my own skin.
13334  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: CatholicCoin - Catholic Coin - Religion Coin on: July 08, 2013, 05:48:23 AM
Suddenly I have this vision of the dark halls underneath the Catholic church converted to data centers, mining away.

Ahhahahaahaaaaaa.

Your visions are dark only cause the massive ASICS are draining all the power from the Vatican.  Lol.

You know the winklevoss twins must have a huge farm just killing bitcoin.  Half the network is probably theirs.  I know I would if I had their money but now they're like, why mine this stuff when we can drive it to $1,000 per coin and higher using everyone else's money:  ETF time.

And I'm convinced they'll get approved.  Buy or mine your alt coins now friends.  Next year should be a killer for this market if/when bitcoin gets approved.
13335  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: CatholicCoin - Catholic Coin - Religion Coin on: July 08, 2013, 05:43:35 AM
Spiral,

Thanks for keeping the last post on topic.

I'm not changing numbers. The 1.4 billion original number was Catholics and I was clear about that.  The 3 billion is Christian, all Christians and is was clear about that.  There's 7 billion people so 3 billion is not half but I'll let you have it and say its 33%.

Regardless, that's a huge base.

The idea is simple.  Offer a coin to a huge consumer base which can associate with it right away and trust it and you've got a winner.

Do the right thing and give a big piece to the Catholic Church because that's the right thing to do and then you have a win win situation.

I really don't see how this can be worse than a coin named after a feather and offers nothing back to the miner or to society.

If feathercoin can be worth nearly $1 million dollars after 45 days then you've got to be kidding me, a CatholicCoin would get mad free press the second it's released and if all is kosher, err, clean and clear then you may get the nod from the pope in which case its gonna be a madhouse rush for the coin.

Serious, nobody sees this enormous potential sitting there for nearly free, waiting to be grabbed?
13336  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: CatholicCoin - Catholic Coin - Religion Coin on: July 08, 2013, 05:38:30 AM

Respect the fact 3 billion people are Chrstians and half of them are catholic.  Respect others the way you want to be respected.

calling catholics christians is like slapping God in the face.

What does that have to do with a Catholic Coin?

This is not a religious thread.  Please keep things on topic.

Thanks, again.

You want me to get back on topic? ok i will, you have a terrible idea. go think up something original and get back to us.

Ok, that's on topic.

Why do you think it's a terrible idea?  Thanks.
13337  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Soccer Coin - SoccerCoin - First Sport Coin on: July 08, 2013, 05:34:54 AM
Do I get free coins if I make a video of a queer flopping around because he got hit in the ankle?

AhHahahaaaa.  How about a queer flopping around cause he got an imaginary elbow to the chin?  I have BasketballCoin too.  Lol.

i do kinda like you. you have a good sense of humor.

Well, brother, if something is true you just gotta laugh at it.  Or cry, depending if the truth is about your personal problems.  I try to laugh at them all but sometimes it sounds more like a whimper.  Lol.

Edit:

You should check out my catholic coin thread if you haven't already.  I really think that has huge potential. People have to get over their personal feeling about religion. This coin is like the Internet - it's technology and a new way of making money.

It's business so try to keep personal feelings out of it. But most can't do that.
13338  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Soccer Coin - SoccerCoin - First Sport Coin on: July 08, 2013, 05:33:54 AM
This is a proposition for the world's first sport coin:  SoccerCoin!

There are no name-brand alt coins right now and I don't get that.

There are no Crypto-Coins with a pre built-in loyal customer base, like sports or religion.

If porncoin didnt take off.  what makes you think soccercoin will?

They had a pornCoin?  Ahahhahahaaa.  Great point.  I thought such a coin would go crazy.  I think it was just too early.

Right now maybe 1% of the population is active in this things.  If the bitcoin ETF thing takes off its gonna jump to 10% overnight.  Then pornCoin may have a chance.

But I now think soccerCoin is too vague.  People want an Identity when they buy their coin and Manchester is trademarked. So I'm SOL on sport coins.

Wrong developers for porncoin. Wish i could of got my hands on porncoin.xxx

Are you a developer?  There's other great ideas.  I think a religion coin, if done right, an be bigger than a pornCoin and a sport coin.  Well, ok, a porn coin can be crazy money, billions, if you market it right and do tons of marketing schemes where you give websites a cut for taking only porn coin.

But still, lots of money to be made cause its early but this is gonna move fast cause the state is pushing it. I wish I could program or hire a programmer.  I'm stuck with just a few good ideas and no way to realize them.
