13321  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2019-06-15] IRS turning its attention to recreational bitcoin investors on: June 18, 2019, 03:26:53 AM
@o_e_l_e_o. Would trading baseball cards for basketball cards among sports enthusiasts then also be a taxable event? For the lack of laws defining cryptocoins, I reckon they can only be something similar to collectibles.

Well... this is a very good point.

I have no issues in case the government is taxing the profits from crypto-to-fiat conversion. They can even implement VAT or GST over fiat-to-crypto conversion as well. But what about selling one crypto to purchase another cryptocurrency? This is taxable in some of the territories and in ideal case there should not be any tax burden on such trades. Then another difficult question arises. What about selling crypto to Tether or other stablecoins? I would say that Tether is just another crypto and it should not be taxed.
13322  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: BTC and Gold? on: June 18, 2019, 03:23:24 AM
A lot of the users are posting that the price of Bitcoin has surpassed that of gold. For proof, they point out that the price of 1 BTC ($9,300) is more than that of 1 oz. of gold ($1,350). There is no logic in saying this, because they are not using the same units. One ounce of gold is not equal to one Bitcoin. They are different units having different characteristics. In case you want to compare the price of gold and BTC, then you should compare the market cap. The market cap of BTC stands at $165 billion, while that of gold is somewhere around $8,000 billion.
13323  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Rising, Scams Rising on: June 18, 2019, 03:19:41 AM
I don't necessarily agree with Bunsomjelican with his post above. Scammers doesn't necessarily need to be proficient in cryptocurrencies. Like many of the crypto users, they are also attracted by the news of rising exchange rates. So when the prices increase, there will be a corresponding increase in scam attempts. The cryptocurrency users need to be extra-cautious, when the prices increase. They can no longer afford to ignore the basic safety precautions, such as email confirmation and 2FA.
13324  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: CWC2019 Prediction Pool - Win x BTC [Additional prize in every round] on: June 17, 2019, 04:16:39 PM
Right now, Bangladesh is having a clear advantage. 122 runs are needed in 126 balls, at less than a run per ball. And most importantly, they have 7 wickets in hand and hard hitters like Mahmudullah are yet to bat. If they lose the match from this point, then not even god can save them. Not a single West Indian bowler has managed less than 6 runs per over.
13325  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin will be legally accepted in every country in the next 10 years? on: June 17, 2019, 04:11:36 PM
If the major economies legalize Bitcoin, then it will be automatically made legal in the vast majority of the world nations. Already Bitcoins are legal in countries such as United States, Germany, Great Britain and Japan. A similar legalization in other super-powers such as Russia, China, South Korea.etc can be the game changer.
13326  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2019-06-05] Gold Can’t Compete With Bitcoin As Form of Money on: June 17, 2019, 03:41:38 PM
Gold may not be very popular now (due to low returns), but it has always been a reliable form of investment to store your wealth.

I'm surprised. Almost everybody believes that storing your wealth by buying gold and hold it for years is a great investment. What do you mean not popular?

The demand for gold has gone down ever since 2011. If you check the charts, then you can see that the prices have declined from around $1,800/oz. to around $1,350 per oz. To be a reliable store of value, gold needs to have a stable price. But here, as you can see the prices have declined by almost 30%. If you take into account the inflation as well, then the decline is close to 40%.
13327  Economy / Economics / Re: INDIA: Draft Law Proposes 10-year Jail Term for Dealing in Cryptocurrency on: June 17, 2019, 03:35:12 PM
Sad news for Indian friends who make cryptocurrencies sources of their income. Theres a lot of Indian individuals that are in crypto. I wonder what would be the purpose of their would be Crypto Rupee if they will not eliminate paper Rupee totally. The government must want to clean the country of any other cryptocurrency to circulate before they launch  their own.

India is not a very rich country, and a large portion of the population lead a hand-to-mouth existence. For millions of such people, cryptocurrencies are the source of passive income or additional income. You may not believe this, but an amount as small as $30 per month can make a lot of difference to many Indians. It is sad that the government is taking away this opportunity from such people.
13328  Economy / Economics / Re: Forms of converting cryptocurrencies into cash on: June 17, 2019, 03:28:59 PM
In India most of the Crypto users use Localbitcoins.com  to convert their crypto to cash .and they are other local peer to peer trading websites like wazirx.com

In India, there is hardly any other option. All the local exchanges have been closed down by the government, and it is very difficult for the international exchanges to credit fiat payments to the Indian users. So the fiat-to-crypto and crypto-to-fiat conversion is mostly happening through peer to peer network, but sometime in the future the government is going to implement a crack down on that route as well.
13329  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: KYC procedure in online casinos does more good than bad or the other way around? on: June 17, 2019, 03:25:10 PM
If the main intention is to prevent under-age players from participating in gambling, then I would say that KYC will be having hardly any impact. I have seen kids as young as 12 years using the Tor browser in my city. Don't you think that they will be tempted to use illegal gambling sites (where KYC is not required) in case the legal ones ask for KYC?
13330  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2019 Cricket World Cup - Discussion & Analysis on: June 17, 2019, 03:20:14 PM
Few observation as an outsider.

1. Cricket took a hit in Pakistan when SL team got an attack. Result: local cricket suffered drastically.
2. PCB not taking any step to kick start Domestic cricket, Pakistan is a gold mine for raw talent.
3. Petty politics in Cricket: Everyone wants to play politics here except cricket. Be it cricketer, Journalists, or management. Merits don't matter much for them.
4. Former cricketer doesn't have any say at all. PCB should include likes of Javed Bhai, Wasim Bhai, etc in a loop.

Still, 4 matches left. Anything is possible in cricket.

I hope that in case Pakistan gets out from Tournament then PCB will take the necessary step to cure cricket in ground level not blame game.

#1 is the cause for 90% of their troubles. Unless they resume playing international cricket in Pakistan, the PCB will remain as cash strapped as ever. It not just affects the funds inflow. It also has a negative impact on the younger domestic players, who never get a chance to play with the international players (who are mostly based in the UAE nowadays).
13331  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: CWC2019 Prediction Pool - Win x BTC [Additional prize in every round] on: June 17, 2019, 03:16:53 PM
Edit: Yesterday i chose Pakistan and today i choose West Indies. It seems the team which i chose always lose.  Undecided
Then please never choose Bangladesh  Cheesy
At the moment, the match is in favor of Bangladesh, Tamin is playing his first good innings in this world cup, I wish he convert it into a century and help the team to victory.

Was there really any need for you to post this?

Tamil Iqbal is gone. Run out attempting an unnecessary single. He was too late in getting back and the bowler (Sheldon Cottrell) ran him out. Just when the Bangladeshis looked like they are in the driving seat, they gifted the initiative back to West Indies. This has been the story for Bangladesh, tournament after tournament. They will always remain like this.
13332  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2019 Cricket World Cup - Discussion & Analysis on: June 15, 2019, 05:11:32 AM
England have beaten WI easily by 8 wickets and Root have made another century. England are going strong and playing the best cricket and one of the good contenders for this world up to be in finals . Today’s match was all round performance by England team .

Rather than the good performance by England, it was the appalling performance by the West Indies that caught my attention. After performing well during the initial one or two matches, they are back to their usual ways. The fighting spirit was completely missing from the WI team. After the fall of the first 2-3 wickets, their batsmen played as if the match is already lost.
13333  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2019-06-14]Binance to Stop Serving US Traders Following Announcement of US-Dedi on: June 15, 2019, 05:03:26 AM
Please correct me if I am wrong, but as far as I know there is no KYC requirement with Binance. So if the user access the exchange through a VPN, then it will be impossible to know whether he is from the US, or from some other country. So are they going to enforce KYC for all the customers? Even that is not a 100% risk-free method. Users in the US can find someone in third world countries to do the KYC for them.
13334  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Verification of identity compulsory on transactions over $1000 on: June 15, 2019, 04:53:47 AM
There will probably be more orders for $999.99.

Exactly. What prevents someone who sends $2,500 to somewhere to split that amount to 5 equal parts? One disadvantage may be the slight increase in the transaction fee, but I am OK with paying $15 instead of $3 as long as the coins reach the intended recipient. Why the authorities are so obsessed with the small fish, when most of the money laundering is being done by the banks such as HSBC? An example here:

13335  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin will be junk/trash after ban in 2 big countries on: June 13, 2019, 01:54:03 PM
So, cryptocurrency is banned in India, but do you think Indian people will stop using Bitcoin? No way! A lot of people took cryptocurrency as their income source. In India, millions of people are jobless, they do online earning things to lead their life! They are enough smart to use VPN and other secret deal. Though I am not suggesting these things, but I saw people, even some of my Bangladeshi friends do these things to use Bitcoin! For your kind information, most of the big miners live in China! China banned ICO, STO, and other investment materials, not cryptocurrency! So, your opinion is worthless here! Bitcoin is not dependent on these two countries!

A jail term is definitely going to discourage the vast majority from using Bitcoin. Using a VPN is OK. But when you convert your coins to fiat, there will always be some trail that can be traced back to you. Just remember that this is a country that tried to ban PayPal, and banned porn. Commonsense is a trait that is missing from the lawmakers of India.
13336  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: CWC2019 Prediction Pool - Win x BTC [Additional prize in every round] on: June 13, 2019, 01:50:53 PM
Nothing special happen both teams will have 1 point each and we will have very poor and bore day I am also very fed up with this situation they need to think about it or have covered grounds option also as they are doing for Tennis.

How much is it going to cost, to have the covers? The TV broadcasters are paying huge sums of money and I am sure that ICC can use some of that amount to explore that option. When we have day-night test matches, why can't we have covered cricket grounds? The technology has advanced very fast and I think it is possible now.
13337  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is Investing In AltCoin Still Worth it in 2019? on: June 13, 2019, 01:47:54 PM
In my opinion, investing in altcoin is still feasible in 2019. because there are still many altcoins that have good and expensive prices in the crypto market. thus if we want to invest in an altcoin, then choose an altcoin that ranks in the top 10.

If you want to invest with a low risk, then investing in those top 10 cryptos in the market is a good choice. There are still promising coins out there not just with those top 10 coins. Just do your research. It is still worth to invest in altcoins. The end of bear market is near, so you gotta invest more.

I won't say that all the coins out there among the top-10 list are safe. There are very volatile coins, such as EOS, Bitcoin SV and Binance Coin among the top-10 cryptocurrencies. Also there is the shady cryptocurrency Ripple, on which several advisories have been issued by analysts. Just stick to reputed and coins such as BTC, ETH, BCH, LTC and XLM, if you want to be safe.
13338  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Altcoins With Low Trading Volume? on: June 13, 2019, 01:44:25 PM
The attraction of some unknown coin giving 100x or 1,000x return is too hard to resist for some of the traders and they fall in to these sort of traps. You need to carefully study and analyze the coin. Make investment only if you are sure that the developers are working hard, and they are having concrete plans for the coin in the future.
13339  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: It is time for Bounty hunters to hold/hodl on: June 13, 2019, 01:41:43 PM
I'm not convinced it's a good time to hodl any old shitcoin from a bounty, although dumping for Ether to hodl has been very worthwhile if you've been active since the start of the year.
Probably in a full-blown bull market hodling shitcoins can be even more profitable than ETH/BTC, but this current bullish move is only a reversal in my opinion.
Personally I'll still sell any airdrop/bounty tokens for Ether when I get the chance.

LOL.. can't put it any better than this. I have never participated in any bounty campaigns, but I have enrolled for dozens of airdrops (with varying success). In almost all the cases, I kept a large part of the airdrop reward for long-term holding and none of these shitcoins increased their value after that. Now I don't know what to do with them, as they are not even worth $1 and depositing them in an exchange may not make any financial sense.
13340  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2019 Cricket World Cup - Discussion & Analysis on: June 13, 2019, 01:02:17 PM
Again another match affected by rain and that too an important match for both teams. I am hating the rains now and I don't want India to lose the important 2 points as it can happen again that matches will get abandoned. It will be worse for the chasing and bowling team as even 20-20 overs will be a big challenge.

The problem with the current format is that in case the match gets washed out, then both the teams will be getting 1 point each. That's so unfair to the stronger team. Imagine Australia vs Sri Lanka match getting washed out and both of them sharing 1 point. It will be very unfair for the Australians. I would rather prefer the stronger team getting 2 points and the other team getting 0.
