13321  Economy / Gambling / Re: Where to bet bitcoin on UFC194 McGregor Aldo on: December 12, 2015, 12:33:11 PM
This is a very fierce fight in the making, to be honest. Everyone in our place seems to be talking about who will win (McGregor all the way lol) and it's a nice way to bet with bitcoins. Thanks for the link on where to bet. NitrogenSports and Directbet seem to follow such fights most of the time.
13322  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Ever win something big in demo mode and feel stupid? on: December 11, 2015, 10:53:48 AM
Played a lot of demo in satoshibet and I thought I was winning btc. When I took a second look at my credits, it was set on the demo tokens and not my actual bitcoin balance. It was fun to see a green streak, but learning that you only used test credits is kinda frustrating.
13323  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Any advantages from gambling? on: December 11, 2015, 09:03:42 AM
There is one that I could think of: entertainment. Gambling is intended to be a form of entertainment and not a means to get you to your riches. Another thing is that some people are being too greedy that once they know they can win, they will continue on doing it in hopes of hitting the jackpot.
13324  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin going Up to 500? on: December 10, 2015, 02:38:33 PM
This should be on the Speculation board, and not bitcoin discussion, I think.

Sooner, before we reach the halving, it is very possible to reach that mark. Also, the order books in the few weeks tend to point out that we're getting there.
13325  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling on: December 10, 2015, 01:56:19 PM
Dice for me. Been playing dice from satoshis that I can claim from a site's faucet and so far it has netted me a good amount I can fairly say that's worth the effort. Aside from that, the odds of losing are lower compared to other gambling games out there (based on my observation.)
13326  Economy / Gambling / Re: What is your favorit Bitcoin gambling site and why? on: December 10, 2015, 12:53:46 PM
Nitrogensports! Simply because it has some e-sports betting available on its platform which allows me to use my bitcoins to bet and not just my items on an online game. As for a dice site, my personal favorite is Primedice due to its automated betting. It gave me 0.01 last time out of the free 200 satoshis they give in their faucet. Smiley

13333  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is it a waste of time mentioning Bitcoin to friends and family? on: December 06, 2015, 12:52:52 PM
You should tell everybody over bITCOIN  BTC BTC BTC Its so ezy and fast to use!
Everywhere!
Cashless Payments!
Cool  Cool

lama-hunter

Even though how hard you try to introduce the pros, people would still find a con in regards to using bitcoins. Best thing to do is to educate yourself first before trying to educate others about bitcoin so that if in case they have questions, you can easily answer it.
13334  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What do you do with your idle coins? on: December 06, 2015, 12:51:20 PM
Any thoughts on investing in ethereum?

Eth? No, just no. If you have  read an article on how the devs managed their funds (esp. Buterin), you wouldn't have a second thought but not to look into investing at the  coin again.
13335  Economy / Speculation / Re: Why China is 10$ more expensive than Bitfinex? on: December 06, 2015, 12:51:15 PM
It's easy to move money between Hong Kong and China but you will pay a 1% fee to move the money and 1% currency conversion fee. So if Chinese markets are leading and bullish, we would expect a 2% gap. And that it what we see. The market stabilizes with a 2% gap: 378/385.

Is that really the situation? Hmm, now I see that arbitraging in 2 such different markets won't be that cost-effective after all.
13336  Economy / Speculation / Re: Weekend target $320 on: December 06, 2015, 12:28:57 PM
A terrbily wrong prediction. But hey, the weekent isnt over yet Cheesy
This prediction is not baised in any form. There is no evidence to point the price will go down.

Here we are proving this speculation wrong at $399.

Meh, most speculation are only based on gut feeling and without strong evidence to support such claims. Charts? Heh, that wouldn't help much in btc. As for kwukduck's prediction? I'm used to it. Still have a few hours left before weekend is over pal!
13337  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: "Bitcoin Will Not Survive", says Jamie Dimon on: December 06, 2015, 12:24:48 PM
The businesses and different platforms should change so that btc will succeed too. What's strange is why does this guy show some support to the blockchain tech but not btc? Hmm there must be something brewing on his mind.
13338  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Roger Ver and OKCoin's Star Xu Have Showdown at Scaling Bitcoin In Hong Kong on: December 06, 2015, 11:53:15 AM
My money's on the American.  He looks badass.

Depends, we cannot really say what they're talking abput though. Roger Ver plus Antonopoulos is more badass compared to Ver alone. Where is this exactly happening btw? Is this somewhat related to the block size conference?
13339  Economy / Speculation / Re: 400$ was the top on: December 06, 2015, 11:02:36 AM
Thanks for such predictions, already sold some during the peak of $500 and some tiny bits @ $440 and somehow I do believe that this price rise will continue on up until the halving. Pretty sure that buy walls would soon be prevalent once it keeps on going high.
I did not see the bitcoin price hit $500 in the past few months. When did you sell your coins at the peak of $500?

Errm, last month we reached $500 as peak. Sold a couple of coins back then and bought again at $307. Just followed the 'buy low, sell high' piece of advice they always state here.
13340  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Encouraging people to adopt Bitcoin. on: December 06, 2015, 10:58:46 AM
You do realise that every market has players that have far more of the asset than the rest of the market. They are called market makers. These could be institutions or governments. The guys that control BTC price, will always have more BTC than everyone, they aren't looking to make money by selling all their btc off, they make money by playing a continuous game of redistribution of wealth.

And you do realize that fiat is controlled by the governments and we wholly support that. Roll Eyes Surely we know that much of the price movements in btc are controlled and cannot always be accounted to some sort of natural growth. And you say continuous wealth distribution right? That opens up a larger frame wherein people could get involved. I don't see anything wrong with the wealth redistribution, actually.
