13321  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Good coins to accumulate and hold relatively long to mid term on: August 20, 2016, 12:24:50 AM
Good coins to hold long term in my opinion are:

- Bitcoin
- Litecoin

- Peercoin
- Dogecoin
- Namecoin
- LTBcoin
- Foldingcoin <snip>
The bolded above I agree with.  The rest are like WTF coins, and I wouldn't hold them if you paid me to.  But I'm just pessimistic about altcoins in general now.  Too much risk, and the market seems to be very saturated.  You could probably make a fast buck on all of the above, but long term (except for btc, doge, LTC)?  I doubt it.
13322  Economy / Reputation / Re: OgNasty: "@Lutpin: Really should kill himself." on: August 19, 2016, 10:33:40 PM
I don't like drama, but I do feel compelled to weigh in.

A while ago (2016-05-19) , I left TwitchySeal some positive feedback:
Quote
One of the sane ones. An asset to the bitcoin gambling community

I honestly forgot why, but it was probably to do with one of his posts around that time.

Anyway, recently I get a PM from OgNasty telling me I should remove my feedback because TwitchySeal is an extortionist. When I asked him for some more information, he basically refused and pressed on with what is arguably thinly veiled extortion of his own:

"Stupid extortion plan"
Here you go: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1582065.0

I'm missing the bit with extortion?

I don't share PMs, as I consider that a breach of trust.  However, they indeed did present me with an ultimatum that I consider an extortion attempt.  Either way, let me know if you don't want to remove the trust rating and I'll just remove my trust of Mitchell so that I can get him out of my trust network that way.  No hard feelings against you either way.  I just figured asking you would be better than disconnecting myself with Mitchell, who I did think was trustworthy.  Not any kind of problem though.  Good luck with you in the future.  Always nice to speak with another Bitcoin enthusiast.

I never left him negative feedback, as his trade and escrow history gives me the impression he is otherwise an honest guy. But I do take issue with the way he attempted to strong arm me into removing my feedback.
That doesn't seem like strong-arming to me, or else I'm missing something.  Nor does it seem like extortion.  OGNasty didn't threaten any trust against you at all.  He was just--from what I'm seeing in the text you posted--asking you to remove your feedback.  I've had people PM me multiple times with the same general requests and some really did threaten to leave me negs and some did.  For all else that OGN did here, I don't think his note to you adds to this.
13323  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Will this boost Bitcoin? on: August 19, 2016, 09:39:41 PM
I don't believe that Gambling helps Bitcoin in anyway , If someone joins the bitcoin community just for gambling then sooner or later he will lose everything and probably leave the community.
People should see Bitcoin from another perspective and not only as a gambling or a Darknet tool.
Yeah right its not only from gambling why bitcoin is growing i think bitcoins is growing because more and more site and company are accepting bitcoin .. they are boosting bitcoin because the transaction  and fees are very compare to other like perfect money and paypal or other online payment processor.. and much more.
WAT?  I swear, if you could gamble and lose your bitcoin faster than any other known form of money in the history of the world, bitcoin wouldn't be half what it is today--and it wouldn't have the future it has.  Get real.  The degenerate, drunken, wife-beating contingent of bitcoiners is providing HUGE support.  For all of us who use bitcoin.  And the same is true, to a lesser extent, about dark markets and illegal stuff.  Just be honest about it.
13324  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: what innovations can crypto bring to gambling? on: August 19, 2016, 09:17:55 PM
Gambling has been around for a long time, a loooong time.  The internet and electronic transfer of money has been around for a few years now.  I'm not sure how much innovation will be or even needs to be brought to gambling.  And yeah, you can lose your money a lot faster.  That's the main thing.
13325  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Bitcoin ATMs on: August 19, 2016, 09:15:05 PM
Croatia, eh?  That's great, it's nice to hear there's bitcoin action across the world.  I'm in the US and I have yet to see anything like a bitcoin ATM.  I don't exactly live in a hick town in a hick state either.  Sometimes I think the hicks use bitcoin more so than the urban stylers like myself.

I still don't think they're necessary, though.  You can buy bitcoin just as fast and with lower fees right on your cell phone through Circle or any of the other exchanges.
13326  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: Amagi Metals - Best Prices of Gold & Silver for Bitcoins on: August 19, 2016, 08:46:33 PM
Is Amagi Metals still active?

Seeing how they haven't responded in nearly a month should be the only answer you need.  Reputable companies like Silver dot com , Provident Metals and JM Bullion now taking bitcoin makes ordering your precious metals worry free.

Yeah, but they don't take DOGE, do they?  That seemed to be one of the selling points here, and I think it is/was probably a good idea to get some more crypto involved in this.  Also, I don't know anything about amagi, but not responding to a thread here doesn't mean they went kablooey.  Precious metals have been in a little bull market for the past couple of months, so it's probably profitable again to be in that business.
13327  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What is best way to make money from Bitcointalk? on: August 19, 2016, 05:06:12 AM
Trading, gambling and signature campaign are the main eays to make money here. Do work harder, no free pies, therefore, posting more and make money.
Trading and gambling are horrible suggestions.   OP the best way to get bitcoin is to get a job and buy it.  Faucets are a waste of time.   Sig campaigns are great if you're not a shitposter.  I would wait on that.
13328  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Giving bitcoin a new name on: August 19, 2016, 04:39:23 AM
I'm still stuck on the achieving my dreams and goals part of OP.  Bitcoin hasn't been that integral to my life, but I hear this all the time.  WTF is bitcoin doing for you such that it's life-altering.  I want some of whatever you're smoking.
13329  Economy / Reputation / Re: Need my trust fixed. on: August 19, 2016, 03:45:32 AM
Yikes, that feedback from Muhammed Zukir might not be removable.  They say he might not be coming back to the forum soon, if at all.
13330  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin: "A Solution Looking for a Problem" on: August 19, 2016, 02:43:52 AM
I agree with this, mostly and I've heard the phrase before.   Bitcoin does solve some problems, but I can't find a reason to use it instead of cash.  Fiat is easy to use and with banks there are protections that don't exist with bitcoin.  I think that's significant.  I love bitcoin as a store of value but hate it as a currency.

The problem with fiat is a matters of principal (at least in my mind)... It's banks "printing" out money from nothing, though now fiat is more digital than physical.

The media likes to portray bitcoin or just cryptos in general as something only criminals use, even though physical fiat notes and gold are used way more for funding things like terrorism. Then, in kind of a complete irony, using things like visa and mastercard is the complete opposite where everything is tracked and recorded in your name.

Though cryptocurrencies aren't useful for everything; the main thing is just trying to get further away from a central banking system.
Yes, and I agree with the principle of freedom of money and the corrupt, out-of-control, money printing.  Absolutely.  I also like the low fees, and that's only sort of a problem, because PayPal has low or no fees just sending someone else money (I think).  The rest of it, I don't know.  I find absolutely no reason to spend what bitcoin I have.  What I have done in the past was sell it for fiat and use the fiat to buy whatever I need.  Unless and until things are priced in bitcoin, and we all get paid in bitcoin, I'm going to have no impetus to spend it.
13331  Economy / Lending / Re: Need loan of 0.11btc with collateral on: August 19, 2016, 01:16:06 AM
There's no way in the name of fuck you're going to get a loan for that amount here.  Better you should ask mommy and daddy, because they might actually care about your hospital...whatever it is.  I guarantee no one here does, because no one will believe it.
13332  Economy / Auctions / Re: US Publicly Traded Company For Sale on: August 19, 2016, 01:05:11 AM
Wow, pretty good scam attempt.  You obviously put a bit of work into this, so you should be proud.   You're going to drown in a sea of red, like the elevator scene  in The Shining.
13333  Economy / Investor-based games / Re: new investment system on: August 19, 2016, 01:02:05 AM
Bitch, please.   Your account is too well-farmed to be offering this crapola.  Why would you do this?  You know there's more skeptics than suckers on this forum.

13335  Economy / Reputation / Re: OgNasty: "@Lutpin: Really should kill himself." on: August 19, 2016, 12:32:39 AM
That's fucked up.  None of this drama surprises me anymore, but two members of DT fighting (even though this has nothing to do with that list) isn't good.  Is OGNasty going to get tagged for this?  It seems like it's bad behavior at the least.

I'm not fighting with anyone.  I've made no prior mention of any of his harassment of me publicly on these forums.  I was contacted on this forum, unsolicited, by Lutpin (I did not reach out to him as alleged above), who advised me to remove my signature and join Lauda's signature campaign group.  When I refused, this situation unfolded.  Lauda even contacted me on Slack asking about getting my advertiser to sponsor his new signature campaign group, so I'm not sure when it was labeled as evil.  Nevertheless, rather than get into a public mud-slinging contest, I will leave it to the community to decide who is harassing who.
With all due respect,  wishing death on someone on a public forum, in writing,  is fightin' words.  I got no cocks in this fight, but thinking those thoughts and writing them out--especially given your stellar record of trust--are two very different things.

13337  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why do people use custodial wallet services? on: August 18, 2016, 05:56:48 PM
reasons:
noobs dont know better (still have the fiat mindset that banks are easier)
people dont trust themselves (worry of accidently getting a virus or house fire/floods wrecking their computer)
running a full client is not the same as a two tap smart phone app
backing up the privkeys is not as simple as 'File -> save as'
re-backing up the privkeys after every 'change address' is not an 'autosave' function

though there are alot of people consider running a full bitcoin client as being straight forward (i do as do many others) but we atleast have to admit it to ourselves that to average joe, its not actually straight forward.

even if these custodian wallets put on disclaimers such as
"we manage the funds for you meaning the funds are stored using our private keys, but we follow your requests as to what you want to do with your balance. but please be aware we do not insure your balance against loss, theft or accidents"
or less subtle
"we own the funds on our private keys, we can follow your requests as to what you want to do with the balance. but we are not insured in any way"
people would still use custodian services, for a mixture of reasons
I agree, I think it's a noob mistake mostly.   Coinbase is in the U.S. and is regulated, so it might be a little safer than other places.  They can freeze your account but it's more likely they'd close it.  I don't think we've had any real horror stories from them yet.  Still no excuse to keep coins there or on any exchange.
13338  Other / Meta / Re: negative trust on: August 18, 2016, 02:45:57 AM
like lemipawa said: it's completely possible.
Everybody can give positive, neutral or negative feedback to anybody.

The main thing is: if you're a newbie (your current rank), nobody will take your negative feedback serious.... It's a shame, but that's just the way it is. I'm a senior member, but i'm not in DT, and i seriously doubt any feedback left by me would be taken seriously by at least 50% of the members here.

If you have a strong case against somebody, it's better to start a scam accusation (read the sticky notes), if somebody on DT (default trust) reads your case, and agrees with you, there is a reasonable chance he'll leave negative feedback to the scammer, and most (if not all) members will take his/her feedback serious.

Why should a one post Newbie with zero credibility been given the same credibility of a Hero, (for example), with 50 verified and successful trades?  Undecided
That's why you work yourself through the ranks, BUILDING credibility as you trade and interact with the community.
I for one, read others feedback along with references. If there are no references, I generally ignore the rating.
Word.  All the black feedback I've gotten (except for the neutral from TECSHARE) is from people I've actually had business with.  All the red trust is retaliation from users I've left negs for because of scamming or account dealing, which I don't trust.  But people looking at my feedback don't see the positive stuff because of the overwhelming flood of red.  But so be it, I won't lose sleep.
13339  Economy / Speculation / Re: What did I tell you? BTC will stay down under $600 on: August 18, 2016, 02:40:22 AM
You certainly could be right, but I won't be among the bearish Greek chorus people.  I don't think stabilizing under $600 is a bad thing at all.  All the gain we've seen in the past few months was (likely) due to the halving, and demand has probably flatlined since then.  We could be dropping like a rock, so where we're at isn't bad.  Having said that, yeah it's still summer and there's what, 4 more months left to go, and a lot of things can happen in that time.
13340  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: If Bitcoin moved above $10,000 USD per coin what would you do? on: August 17, 2016, 11:10:22 PM
That is insane!  Maybe I will exchange some of it into cash and buy some stocks and mutual fund.  I will use it to gain more profit to secure my life, my retirement.  I will use my bitcoin to work for me to achieve and have more income.  I will put it to investment sites and do some trading.
I don't think we're going anywhere near $10K anytime soon.  And even if it did hit that mark tomorrow, I still don't own enough to start rolling like a pimp.  If it hit 10K, I would be lamenting the fact that I was too stupid to buy everything I could whilst the price was $570.  That much is certain.

Stocks are kinda high right now, and I'm not sure if I made a bundle that I'd put any more money into them.  I would buy land if I had enough money, and prepare for the zombie apocalypse that's coming any day now. *hoping*
