Thanks for the reply Dave. So NXT is ready for real world, practical use.
Is the market place like Open Bazaar? How does your escrow method work? And how many people are using it?

if there is a coin that seems to be usefull, they would use it already.
there are a lot of coins with mixing. but still BTC is in use.
so the question is: why "dark web" still uses bitcoins.
That's not the point. What I'm asking is more like is it practical for NXT to be used by, in this example, a drug cartel to move money, and use its decentralized market place to sell drugs online? What do you guys think?

What is with this version 2.0 crypto jargon you guys keep posting about ? Was there some official road map where we had an update to the Altcoin scene or something ? jeez, i have been doing this so long i think you should be calling it version 9.0 by now.. ohh noobs ![Roll Eyes](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/rolleyes.gif) When most of you here hanging around * still got here (just after when BTC went up to 1k per coin) THAT is when you should have called them 2.0 coins (or am i missing some criteria ?) Because back then is when the 2nd wave of coins exploded onto the scene.. Right. Sorry about that, I'm just a small time trader, not a coder like you. So I'm gonna get some technical stuff wrong. But you get the point.

Awesome! Thanks for sharing Stan.

For the sake of discussion, let's use NXT.
Would the Mexican - South American drug cartels benefit from using NXT's mixing service + other features if it were to utilize the platform for moving money? And possibly encourage its network of retail dealers to use the NXT market place, starting a market place for selling drugs online?
I've always wondered about that...

You should have hired a pumper and a marketer. That what penny stock companies do before a big announcement.
Indeed. Pretty good evidence that we didn't. No? ![Smiley](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/smiley.gif) There's nothing wrong with both imho. I never judge. It's business.

It's ok. How was the launch though?
No major problems but a few glitches. Fortunately I was somewhere over the north pole at the time inbound to Shanghai, so I can claim plausible deniability for them. Rofl. What?

^ True. And Buterin and Co. would love a pump. They need to dump more ETH to fund whatever it is their doing.
Yes we will watch it happen Bit what if nothing happens, then what?

I will stay with Altcoins. Bitcoin will strengthens and alts will follow him. It's only a matter of time. ![Smiley](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/smiley.gif) Yes you are correct. Please advice everyne to buy and hold.

Low volume coins are trash. Do not buy those, you'll have a hard time selling those in any exchange.
So I guess a good indicator of a dead coin is something that has low volume for 6 months to a year or so.

When the developers are never posting on their official forum, yeah then people get frightened and sell. The developers need to be present!
Look at other projects like eg. MAID - the developers are all over their forum informing and helping out, and that shows the crowd that they are serious and dedicated!
Every dev has his strategy. Wait and you will see. Oh Buterin's strategy worked alright. He did pretty well for himself if you ask me. ![Cheesy](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/cheesy.gif) Did he earn a few hundred thousand dollars for a year' work. Exactly. I could be speculating here but him and his group could have bought large allocations of ETH from the presale and were the ones dumping at the beginning. All in all, not a bad strategy.

Anyway, if it's not Larimer as Spoetnik implied, then who is Freetrade?
Freetrade is this guy, who looks absolutely nothing like Larimer: ![](https://ip.bitcointalk.org/?u=https%3A%2F%2Fbitcointalk.org%2Fuseravatars%2Favatar_42420.png&t=663&c=vNCpPucDmzrcmg) Who is he?

And 2 years ago, only a handful of people might have listened to you. But now, after all the scams, pump & dumps and the schemes, I'm pretty sure you have an audience.
It's your time now.

Exactly why you're the guy who has to tell the stories. A thread similar to the Story of Bobsurplus would be a good start.
And I take back what I said. Writing these stories in any way you see fit is better.

this guy / coin is linked to Protoshares (PTS) The guy that made Memory coin (which is full of scammy antics)
Freetrade and Larimer are not the same person Spoeterman. ![](https://ip.bitcointalk.org/?u=https%3A%2F%2Fpbs.twimg.com%2Fprofile_images%2F2306531900%2Fsec5qf2agnxnlnxcjtjk_400x400.png&t=663&c=DIqCZnKVONnP8g) LOL that pic always cracks me up. ![Cheesy](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/cheesy.gif) Anyway, if it's not Larimer as Spoetnik implied, then who is Freetrade?

the reason for the price drop is simple:
anybody who is trading BTS on Poloniex, and not Open Ledger (utilizes internal ex) is keeping the market thin and thus easy to manipulate and is directly pushing the price of BitShares down. Those who say that they want the BTS price to rise, but trade on Poloniex are mathematically either selfish/greedy or stupid.
TLDR: greed
It's greed that makes a stock, commodity, crypto, etc.. rise as well. When something is traded in an open market, it will always play under the rules of supply and demand, bulls and bears, mania and fear, etc... It's just how the game works. Trading on Open Ledger won't make a difference. no. what drives the financial markets is investments with real potential for growth.. such as Apple or IBM etc. Not derivatives built on lending loans to poor people who can't afford houses and can't afford to pay the loan. that is why crap is worthless and valuable stocks are expensive. you skipped over the part where smart investors follow a rule.. growth. ask any trading pro in the world for what to look for in a good stock market investment. and don't forget to read up on how and why the worlds economy crashed in 2008 and why many pro traders think another crashing is looming. guys the worlds economy tanked because of greedy idiots trading worthless derivatives and a lack of desire by Greenspan to regulate it. sound familiar ? ![Roll Eyes](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/rolleyes.gif) so what is played out in crypto ? ..the same damn thing. You're right. But in my mind, right now, the altcoin scene = penny stock scene. So there are no IBMs, Apple's and fundamentally valuable 'companies' in the altcoin sector. So I won't include that part in the equation right now.

I initially found this advise somewhat off putting since I see myself as a big fan of alts. However, if I were to convert all of the alts that I hold currently, I might be able to get .02 BTC. I guess that I'm not really that much of a fan for alts. ![Cheesy](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/cheesy.gif) It's not about bein a fan or not. It's about whether the money is coming back to the markets again. With all the scams and P&D's people are either broke or scared.
