13361  Other / Meta / Re: KYC now required on: April 01, 2019, 07:09:16 AM
I have a question regarding the bitcoin addresses. Do I need to enter my private keys as well?
My bitcoin private key is E5123D79C6DLiCkMEB6A4128633389LiCkME13303DA61F20BD67FC233AA33512
There should be about $2700 on there but my PC is not booting so I can't check it. I am worried. Can someone please check and verify that my money is still there?

Thank you dear Sir

oh sorry didnt saw it, seems like I will never get a merit lol
You spend most of your time in the Altcoin sections and these boards are blacklisted by many merit sources. It means they are not browsing Altcoin sections or they have them on ignore due to the enormous amount of spam that is created there. It is very hard to find decent posts among all the nonsense replies.
13363  Other / Meta / Re: Why not Make "Unofficial list of (official) Bitcointalk.org rules..." Official? on: March 31, 2019, 08:34:01 PM
What would change if the rules became Official? Those who get banned for the most common reasons such as copy-pasting and spamming don't care about the rules anyway. And those who do care and abide by the rules aren't affected by the name. Many rules are subjective by nature. What one mod considers off-topic might not be completely off-topic by another mod.
13364  Economy / Reputation / Re: 50 merits for the most idiotic post on: March 31, 2019, 08:43:26 AM
How to know if a sender is a merit source, just curious.
There is no official list on the forum but a good indication is that the user has distributed more merits than he has earned. Take a look at the picture i uploaded below. I will not advertise the name but check the numbers. Has given 3937 merits, Has received 897 merit.

13365  Other / Meta / Re: Tip to the posters: You don't need to purposely make your replies longer on: March 31, 2019, 08:36:02 AM
People are just different. Some write shorter posts while others write longer. Same thing can be seen in oral communication. When I was at college we had this colleague who was a bit shy and he would never speak unless spoken to. An intelligent guy but socially awkward.
We had this joke going around that you can sit next to him for 8 years and he will never be the one to speak first.  Grin
13366  Economy / Gambling / Re: Jackmate is back on FortuneJack! on: March 31, 2019, 08:25:56 AM
He probably confused Jackmate with FortuneJack. Seeing jack in the name he probably though it is the name of the site which lead to all the other gibberish in his post as well. Just ignore it, no reason to get upset  Wink
13367  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: smart contract (btc) that pays out winning bet in price prediction game? on: March 31, 2019, 08:14:04 AM
Smart contracts are a thing of Ethereum. Bitcoin can work with smart contracts only on a side chain. RSK is a smart contract network created for the Bitcoin network. https://www.rsk.co/
Not sure what else is available when it comes to smart contracts and bitcoin.

<Snip>
I have never been a fan of these password managers, they are useful, sure, but we are still somehow giving control to a third party when it comes to password generation and storage. We are trying to move away from centralised control when it is related to our private keys but we give another party the option to generate the passwords that we use.

13370  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Italian League Prediction Thread (Serie A) on: March 30, 2019, 10:24:58 PM
Juventus is not that motivated and is thinking only about the Champions League.
Matches immediately after the International break are always hard. Dybala got injured during the warm up for tonight's match so the coach had to make some last minute changes which weren't planned. Without Dybala and Cristiano there was very little creativity and speed in the Juve attacks. They were actually lucky that they even won.

Kean has had a fantastic week. 1 goal against Finland, another against Liechtenstein and tonight he comes into the game and scores the game-winner 3 minutes later.
13371  Other / Meta / Re: Finding quality posters from the Altcoin boards on: March 30, 2019, 10:18:42 PM
Not against the idea behind this thread but instead of this why not encourage the use of this [self-moderated] Report unmerited good posts to Merit Source when you come across a post worth meriting on the board
Because i don't browse the Altcoin section so I am not looking for posts there.

Asking for a list might lead to lower rank user going to hurt for them with the intention of getting rewarded with merits which might lead to spamming since post isn't self moderated.
They can try but that wont work. Spammers can easily be found and nobody will award them with anything. They will just get reported since their posting history will be checked.

I, for one, have no issue meriting good altcoin posts. I have very little enthusiasm to trawl through the pages and pages of complete trash in the altcoin boards, but if someone directs me towards these good posts, I'd be more than happy to send some merit their way.
Yes I know, that is why I think it is a good idea to single out some of these good contributors in the altcoin sections and tk808 can help with that since he is there on a daily basis. It seems he has already applied to become a merit source as well, I missed that thread of his, but that is good to know.

If he becomes an Altcoin merit source then this thread will become obsolete and I will lock it but if that doesn't happen I think it can still turn out to be useful.

@Becky666
As a Jr. Member you need an activity level of 60+ which at the moment you don't have. Feel free to apply again once you achieve the needed Activity levels.

@longbtcdev
Please read Rule #3 before applying. All those posts are from March 2019. The deadline is 31/01/2019.

Reserved for the list...
13374  Other / Meta / Finding quality posters from the Altcoin boards on: March 30, 2019, 10:30:52 AM
After seeing tk808 thread yesterday I was happy that many bitcointalk members and merit sources chipped in to help a fellow cryptocurrency enthusiast get some recognition and needed merits towards the rank he desires. We all know that many merit sources rightly avoid and have the whole Altcoin board on ignore and many others don't go there at all. This makes it very difficult for Altcoin enthusiasts like tk808 to get merits, improve his rank and feel appreciated.

tk808 is right when he said:
There's no denying the largest part of Bitcointalk is indeed altcoin discussions, ANNs and the increasingly defunct tokens section. Spam or not, it is the largest and generates the most traffic.

Even though 90% of the posts in the Altcoin sections are worthless there are probably other members just like tk808 that get buried under all that spam that is generated there.

What can we do to change this?
I am hoping that with tk808's help and with the help of some merit sources who have shown that they are willing to merit altcoin content, and all other members who are interested in doing the same we find those worthy of merits in the Altcoin section, make a list and help them feel appreciated.

I am going to PM tk808 and make him aware of this thread and ask him to post some links to users who, just like him, frequent the Altcoin boards and post quality content there. Merit sources can then check their posting history and decide if their posts are merit-worthy or not.

To tk808 I would like to say that you can use those 170+ earned merits from yesterday and merit some users from the Altcoin sections that you think have been overlooked but produce good quality posts.

The 2nd post of this thread will be reserved for the List and I will update it with links to quality posters from the Altcoin boards.
13375  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling responsibly, is it possible or myth? on: March 30, 2019, 09:52:29 AM
It is possible to gamble responsibly if you can control yourself and be satisfied with that you got and how much you earned. Some people are happy winning $50, it means a free lunch and some drinks. Others are aiming for $50.000 and then they complain why it didn't work and that they were so close!

A friend of mine likes sports betting and he bets on over 1.5 goals in football matches. For some reason that's one of his favourite bets. So he puts 15-18 matches on a slip and usually losses. In many cases he lost only because of one goal in one match! But the probability of getting all 15 matches right is very low and he doesn't seem to understand that.
13376  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Ledger Live Question on: March 30, 2019, 09:34:36 AM
Okay when i get the message ti verify on the ledger live... i click it.  Then it ask me to confirm on the ledger s.  I right click yes on the nano ledger.

Now there is option to reverify or copy.  So when i want to send btc from electrum to the nano ledger s, just click copy.  Then copy it and post the address to the electrum send to correct and thats good?  Im confused why there is the option to reverify?
Yes, but don't just blindly click on Yes to get rid of the notification. Check if the address on your PC is the same as the one that is shown on your Ledger device. That's the first time you should compare them.
You should compare the addresses a 2nd time after you have copied the address from your PC and pasted it into Electrum. Again, compare the digits to make sure it is the same address you previously saw and confirmed on your Nano S.

Even if your PC is infected, nobody can steal the bitcoins from your Ledger unless they have physical access to it. The only thing that can happen is that you make a mistake and send it to a wrong address due to a malware in the form of a clipboard virus.
That's why it is so important to compare the addresses at least 2-3 times.
13377  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Kindly help me confirm this BTC transaction on: March 30, 2019, 09:24:28 AM
Your transaction now shows 90+ confirmations so it should be all right now.

I suggest you close this thread since the issue has been resolved and your funds have been sent.
13378  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Electrum 3.0.5 Synchronizing? on: March 30, 2019, 09:21:00 AM
Since you know already that older Electrum versions had fake ads that informed users to download a newer version you shouldn't blindly trust everything you see in your Electrum wallet. This is no longer the case but in the future hackers might find other ways to try and get to your funds which may or may not include notifications or other tricks to get you to download their fake software.
ALWAYS make sure to check the official Electrum website if there is a newer version of the wallet and download it ONLY from there.
13379  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Electrum Sending Fee? on: March 30, 2019, 09:13:08 AM
I like https://www.coinb.in/#fees when it comes to setting fees. At the moment it is 4 Sat/Byte. If you want your transaction to be confirmed sooner double the fee. But if you are not in a hurry the recommended fee by coinb.in is a a good choice.
13380  Other / Meta / Re: where I can post altcoin technical related thread on: March 29, 2019, 08:43:08 AM
Does the altcoin have their own dedicated telegram channel for support? That could be the fastest way to get the support you need. Just explain to their admins over Telegram what problems you are experiencing. Or discord if they don't have telegram.
Like Pamoldar said, move the thread to Altcoin Discussion before Mods delete/lock it because it is posted in the wrong board.
