13361  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: what does your digital currency portfolio look like? on: December 12, 2018, 03:32:05 AM
Majority on bitcoin, as it should be. Bitcoin is already extremely volatile as it is, I personally find it unnecessary to take a big amount on some alts that has significantly lower chances to succeed. Especially in a bear market, whereas bitcoin is one of those coins that drops a bit less compared to others.

80% Bitcoin(BTC)
20% certain coins and tokens.

1/4 litecoin
I really don't get why people hold LTC. It's pretty pointless in my opinion. It's sort of like a lab rat for experiments before adding certain features on the bitcoin blockchain.
13362  Economy / Speculation / Re: Where Bitcoin will skyrocket this time? on: December 12, 2018, 01:50:37 AM
If bitcoin was to skyrocket again, no one knows what percentage increase we would have. Not to mention bitcoin isn't guaranteed to skyrocket in the first place. Not because it happened in the past, while definitely not impossible, it doesn't automatically mean that it will happen again. Who knows? We might have a very slow increase for a decade this time, or even a decade of price stagnation?
That is the problem of many bitcoin users. They always think of bitcoins going to the moon and skyrocketing without thinking that bitcoins is basically meant for peer to peer transfer and not as investment vehicle to give much profit.

Yeap pretty much. Don't get me wrong, there's nothing wrong in investing or speculating on an asset that you actually think will go up in price in the long term, especially if you're actually confident on the future success of bitcoin. The problem here is some people are investing in bitcoin just because it's hot, and they're expecting it to rise quick. But anyway, it's them that's going to likely end up losing money in the end anyway, if they're really that impatient.
13363  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin ETF on: December 12, 2018, 01:45:58 AM
An ETF is beneficial to bitcoin or the cryptocurrency markets in general as it adds liquidity to the markets. Some people are sort of lukewarm or some even against an ETF probably because they don't want institutional money into bitcoin. Unfortunately, whether we like it or not, bitcoin is for everyone. Whether your just a typical employee, or a government body.

Anyway, the reason why most people want an ETF, is simply because a lot of people think that an ETF would be the catalyst for bitcoin to skyrocket in price. They want to be rich quick. Nothing new here.

Read these. Every single article in it: https://coindesk.com/information

Besides what everyone said already, avoid investing in anything you don't understand. Bitcoin and especially certain coins/tokens included.

I am very new to this field plzz give me suggestion to investing in crypto Huh
If you'd have to ask people on what to invest, then investing is obviously not for you.

13367  Local / Pamilihan / Re: BNL scam or not? What's your thought? [ponzi scheme] on: December 11, 2018, 01:48:19 PM
Just do the simple trading at umasa kay BTC na tumaas.

I don't see any proofs.

And yea, classic BitConnect-level crap. Pag wala nang nahahakot sa referrals, GG. 💸👋
13368  Local / Pamilihan / Re: BNL scam or not? What's your thought? [ponzi scheme] on: December 11, 2018, 12:55:22 PM

13369  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Lets get some numbers - register your vote on: December 11, 2018, 06:42:23 AM
I'm really really interested in such a poll. But as this is a bitcoin/cryptocurrency-related forum; where people here are holders of cryptocurrencies in general, so the results are definitely going to be heavily on the positive side. I'd definitely be really interested to see the results if the poll was made on a technology general forum and a sort of economics-focused forum though.
13370  Other / Meta / Re: Please read admins on: December 11, 2018, 02:39:17 AM
Why are ICO's being advertised? I could go on, on how a part of this forum has nothing to do with bitcoin.
I'm just mentioning something fun most people can possibly relate too.

ICOs aren't officially being advertised by Bitcointalk. People are just using Bitcointalk to advertise ICOs through posting in the Altcoins(Announcements) section. Two quite different things. Not to mention adding the feature of being able to buy tokens is going to be tedious as heck; as there are so much tokens being advertised here on Bitcointalk. If bitcointalk would sell anything, it would be bitcoin and bitcoin-related merch/collectibles.
13371  Local / Pamilihan / Re: BNL scam or not? What's your thought? [ponzi scheme] on: December 11, 2018, 02:23:28 AM
BNLimited, yan ung Bitrobo diba?

From the first line from the homepage of BNLimited palang, "INTRODUCING BITROBO, BITROBO IS A 24/7 AUTO TRADE SYSTEM THAT WILL GIVE YOU PROFIT AND NO CHANCE OF LOSING."

Trading with no chance of losing.. That itself is a huge sign na 99.9% scam ito. Also knowing na kailangan mong refer ng tao. It's just your typical ponzi scheme. And of course, as usual, nauuto ang mga kapwa pilipino natin.
13372  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Another new scam on: December 11, 2018, 01:51:41 AM
hopefully we can get rid of anonymity here in the forum. I know it is against cryptocurrency feature but because of these scammers they can easily use and roam in this forum to scam other users. It might be good to have a real account to be used so that scamming and illegal activities will be minimized. There are many in this forum so you should not trust any of here and just mind your own business and this is what Iearned the most here.

I'm pretty sure most(if not all) people here values anonymity a lot. If they add something like KYC to be able to reduce scammers, I don't think it would work. People would probably just leave bitcointalk all together, irregardless if the admins are trustworthy or not. I think the small BTC requirement when registering new accounts on sort of "evil IPs" sort of works decently.
13373  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: how to trade safely in crypto currency? on: December 10, 2018, 02:59:20 PM
It's either one of these two:

  • You trade safely by just allocating smaller amounts for your trading especially if you're still a beginner. To be an effective trader, not only you need to be good at playing with probabilities, but you also need to control the risk factor. Knowing that you lost 2k and that it seems that you're not confident with your trades at all, you should definitely be using small amounts.
  • Just don't trade at all.
13374  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: TechCrunch throws shade at Coinbase on: December 10, 2018, 02:47:26 PM
It makes perfect sense.  As with most exchanges, they're going to be chasing raw volume over quality or real-world utility.  List anything and everything with even a hint of a buzz about it.  "All aboard the hype-train, make lots of trades plz".

This exactly. People are always like "Coinbase/Binance/etc likes to spread scammy shitcoins etc etc etc". People forget that exchanges or businesses in general exist, mainly for what? To make money. Sure, the CEOs might really be passionate on blockchain technology, but profits and making sure that the company is afloat is still always first priority.
13375  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Where's the bottom well? on: December 10, 2018, 01:57:15 PM
I don't think technical analysis isn't going to help you that much in looking for the "bottom" in the first place, especially knowing that we're talking about bitcoin and not stocks/bonds/etc. Probably the best move is simply to just buy a few amounts of bitcoin every week or so, as the price goes down. That way, you sort of control your risk. Sure, you definitely could get very lucky by guessing the bottom, but going all in on a certain price point in a bear market is not a good move in my opinion.
13376  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: TechCrunch throws shade at Coinbase on: December 10, 2018, 01:49:59 PM
LOL. While I agree that some are indeed debatably crap, I'm pretty sure this is a good move for Coinbase as a business. As a business, they need to be profitable, hence they need to take certain moves to be able to stay so. The bear market probably affected their volume a lot.

Cardano (ADA) - this coin is a brain in a hat, and that's all. Zero real-world utility.
While I agree that it really does nothing, I wont lie, their team is looking really really good. Risky as hell though, not for me.

Dai (DAI) - stablecoin. The way it gets there (see MKR) is kind of questionable but it seems to work
It seems to work, very well in fact. Yes, we all know that stablecoins can definitely drop and rise in price a bit if ever a lot of people simply buy/sell in in a short timesplan; but in the past 3 months of bearishness of the cryptocurrency markets, DAI didn't even touch $0.98. It was pretty much always around $.99 - $.1.01. Which is a really really good thing if you ask me, knowing that DAI is somewhat decentralized. If there's a stablecoin that I'd be comfortable holding, it's DAI. I don't think it's currently "backed" enough to be able to handle Binance-levels of trade volume though.
13377  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Web service like MEW for Bitcoin ? on: December 10, 2018, 07:59:37 AM
What Mocacinno said. Web wallet services like MyEtherWallet are simply just very convenient to use, but with convenience, comes great security risks. Keep your spending wallet on a mobile wallet, and majority of your holdings on a hardware wallet like the Trezor[1] or the Ledger Nano S[2], or a paper wallet if you know how to make one in a secure manner.

I highly suggest reading this post here, for you to have an idea on what the advantages and disadvantages of the kinds of wallets are. Topic: [General] Bitcoin Wallets - Which, what, why?

13378  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Posting deleted why?? on: December 10, 2018, 04:52:56 AM
It's mostly one of these reasons:

  • Your post is plagiarized
  • Your post is off-topic
  • Your post doesn't contribute to the topic (e.g. "wow", "thanks", "nice!", etc
  • Probably gravedigging

They mostly wouldn't delete posts at random just because they feel like it. You gotta check the quality of your posts so they don't get deleted for spam.
13379  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Cheap hardware wallet ? on: December 10, 2018, 12:04:27 AM
Ok thank you guys Smiley

Hey. Hope you got your answer as TryNinja answered your question well.

I suggest grabbing a Ledger Nano S[1] hardware wallet as soon as possible if you're planning on pulling the trigger. They have a 30% off holiday special right now so I suggest you grab one soon if you want to save a few dollars. Trust me. It's worth it.

13380  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Issue about Bitcoin in the future on: December 09, 2018, 10:46:05 PM
The news said the government of Venezuela has created its own crypto. The were forced to do that due its economical disaster. Anyway, it should be valuable experience for other countries for the future

They definitely weren't forced to do it. I don't think having their own centralized cryptocurrency is going to change anything positively. It's highly likely that it's just another funnel for Nicolás Maduro to make more money off his countrymen.
