Wow, that's pretty awesome! Not to mention Montreal is only an hour and a half away, so visiting isn't really a big deal Cheesy

There are certainly a number of things you could do with 3 floors worth of space...hmm...

We will have a big meetup sometime soon when we have a good plan and something worth showing off

i'll add you to the bitcoin montreal meetup mailing list to keep you updated
13382  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Building a bitcoin embassy! on: June 16, 2013, 03:25:48 AM
How should be organizes the street floor and the 2 other floors?

IMO, Jake's vision is the way to go,

The street floor we have a "bitcoin help desk" ( a place anyone can walk into and ask questions to a professional behind the desk )
maybe we want to allow customers to buy and sell bitcoin here?
maybe we want to sell bitcoin related products here?

The second floor is a lounge that is open to all bitcoiners, this is where we kick back and have a few drinks as we talk about the endless possibilities bitcoin offers.
maybe we want to have some events happen here open to the general public?

The third floor is the office space where bitcoiners come to work!
I work from home and its a bitch sometimes having the kids constantly distract me, maybe I could be allowed to work 9 to 5, 5 days a week in the building Huh  Cheesy
13383  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Building a bitcoin embassy! on: June 16, 2013, 03:16:19 AM
Would love to do it here in NZ, would require substantial funds though.

I feel so fortunate that its happening in montreal, since I live nearby.  Smiley

I opened the new thread.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=235422.0

we should have another meetup, ASAP ( next weekend? )
maybe we can start by clearing up the space on the street level?  or many make the second floor more inviting?  how do we get other people involved in this exciting project?
GO GO GO! time is now! lets do this thing!  Grin Grin Grin
13385  Bitcoin / Project Development / Building a bitcoin embassy! on: June 16, 2013, 03:02:55 AM

goto the Official thread

Coming soon to montreal
The Bitcoin Embassy!

Thanks to a generous person who will remain anonymous for the time being, We have been given a building that we hope to convert into a  " Bitcoin Embassy ". With three floors to do with as we please, we hope to organize the space to make it easy and fun for people from all over the province to come and learn about bitcoin, as well provide an office space for bitcoiners to come do in order to start bitcoin related projects, so they can work closely with other bitcoin entrepreneurs, to develop exciting projects that will utilize bitcoin in new ways! We are still in the early stages of development, but we hope to open our doors ASAP! With that said there is much work to be done in a short time, we welcome any and all ideas from the community at large, if you had to build turn a building into a " Bitcoin Embassy " how would you do it?

Many questions that need to be answered:

Is the title " Bitcoin Embassy " appropriate?
How should be organizes the street floor and the 2 other floors?
What will be our main mission?
What kind of services do we want to offer? ( BTC / CAD exchange ? )
Building policy?
(There is at least 21 million other questions, but this is a start )

We welcome any and all ideas from the community at large, if you had to turn a building into a " Bitcoin Embassy " how would you do it?

as was said, the best way to store bitcoin is on paper.
please make sure you secure your bitcoins saving this way

https://www.bitaddress.org/  <- BTC paper wallet generator
http://liteaddress.org/          <- LTC paper wallet generator

please use the following steps

go to the website click "save page as" in your browser's file menu
save the html page to a usb device
remove the internet wire to your computer
re-boot your computer with a live linux CD
plug in your usb and load the html page you saved
generate your paper wallet and print it out
then send the bitcons or litecoins to the paper wallets
DONE!

this is the paranoid way to create secure paper wallets.
I recommend booting with a live linux CD because this way their is 0 chance some malware or keylogger could see & steal the paper wallets you generate
if you don't know how to burn a Live Linux ISO on a CD and then boot from that...

unplug your internet, generate your paper wallets, print, and then reboot b4 for connecting to the net again. ( this is probably sufficient )

there are many options to securing your coins, this is the way i do it...

barin wallet is another very secure way. ( if done properly, with a strong password  )

also see http://www.piperwallet.com/ for a supper easy way to create paper wallets.

I will open up a new thread in project development sub forum, so we can discuss different ideas for what to do with this unbelievably cool space.

To me, it looks like it is going down now.. Many of the bulls think speculatively that by selling now, it is easy to buy back later. While this thinking is wishful (not all of them can buy the coins back - sub-100 or even at all(!!)), it is enough to take the price down in a long slide to around $50.

Only the growing usage will save bitcoin now. It may take months before it catches up. We are 2 months to the bear market now, I would not be surprised for 2 more months. 4 more would be a surprise.

Don't sell your coins. In 2011 only the ones lost who sold. I bought about BTC5000 then from somebody who could have held onto his treasure but chose to throw it away for a pittance. Read my threads (links in the sig). Don't sell.

You can't be sure the guy who sold you 5000 Bitcoin didn't buy double that back at the bottom.

Maybe he did, but not in a lump sum so there isn't a rally? It makes sense for him to keep the downtrend going until he is almost out of fiat.

Yeah, somebody did buy thousands of coins at the final capitulation.

If there is one in the coming weeks, be sure to have your $$ ready. You're given one chance (if any).  Even though I feel bearish, I still know the only sure way to get fiat out Mt.Gox is to buy bitcoins with it. So all the money is still there, and (real) asks are disappearing.

My bearishness is also partly because of my living condition.

you're a bear now Huh  wtf did they do?   Cry
lol

MtGox can do wire transfer to anywhere in the world including US

people are selling because they are scared

13391  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin Price Drop on: June 15, 2013, 05:45:24 AM

not a chance

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xRtC_SZfSk8 <- the project
http://kck.st/12AIyqt  <- kick starter page. They actually have some pretty cool rewards for backing their kickstarter project, check it out! ( you can pledge BTC )

Personally  I think they're a little nuts and they won't be able to pay everyone directly with bitcoin... how do you buy rent/food/gas with bitcoin  Huh what are they thinking, but its seems they are going to make a serious effort and it should make for a very entertaining film.
13393  Economy / Speculation / Re: [poll] USD Hyper-inflation == BTC Hyper-deflation? on: June 15, 2013, 03:46:11 AM
So QE3 slowing down will cause hyperinflation? I don't follow, it's usually QE that causes significant inflation.

the thing is once QE3 stops or slows down all the money thats currently in the stock market riding the QE3 bubble, is going to leave the stock market and go EVERYWHERE!  Shocked

And the market has already had a bad month... this could get interesting. Maybe time to cash out of the world's reserve currency.

and cash into the new world's reserve currency   Wink

but isn't the market making new highs?

even more devastating would be, a preemptive sell off which would force ben to step up QE to a new level of retarded! and then if the investors don't take the bait and keep selling... the fiat scheme is totally fucked...

according to some very unreliable sources this is exactly the intent of the illuminati

ASICMINER shares are blowing UP! but i don't trust it, once the hardware sells run out, dividend & price might tank.

i own a small amount of ASICMINER, i'm waiting too see what happens to ASICMINER when the mining bubble pops.
