Those guys need to get their acts together if they want to be a legit exchange.  They are single handily responsible for destroying the bitcoin values everytime it starts to get popular/increase due to the constant technical issues and stability.

I bought some coins from coblee as well. It was my first bitcoin transaction, and he was gracious enough to walk me through some of the details.  The coins were in great condition, packaged well, and delivered promptly. I was kept up to date on their progress throughout.  A great transaction all-around.

I just received my coins from coblee too, they are great!  Very good seller, thank you.

1346  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Got to be an Easier way to buy Bitcoin on: May 30, 2013, 07:49:22 AM
1) get verified in mtgox by uploading your photo id
2) wire the $ in usd from your bank to mtgox, choose bank wire option from the add fund drop down and follow instructions
3) your account will be funded within 48 hours (mine did).

It's by far the cheapest and fastest way.

1348  Economy / Trading Discussion / silly question - sending bitcoint for buying stuff on: May 28, 2013, 07:16:49 PM
Hi i have a silly question, when you send bitcoin to someone like friedcat to buy stuff, how do they know it's from you?

I mean you can give them your public key you used to send, but that's not exactly secret, if someone knows your public key, couldnt they just pretend to be you and said they sent the coin?

Or is the only way to create a 1 use public key and not tell anyone except the person you sent the coins to?

i am confused. Thanks

if the transaction is complete the money is gone, mtgox doesnt do anything, they asking you to file a police report is just an inside joke.
1350  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Are BFL Jalapeņos worth it? on: May 26, 2013, 05:39:56 PM
This whole thing is a clever scam, think about it for a minute it's common sense. If you own the hardware that gives you a 10x advantage over the competition and make tons of money why would you ever sell them for pennies on the dollar and significantly decrease your profit?

Those are simple circuits that can be mass produced at large quantities once the design is done, what's happening is they needed money to get the initial order in so they hang a carrot in front of everyone then used preorder money to fund their orders and use the resulting hardware to make a lot of money themselves. You are essentially funding their profit center with a 0% interest rate, by comparison you make the US government look smart....  To keep the mobs down, they ship a few 5 GH/s only boxes to appear legit, which is nothing but a drop in the bucket.

They will never mass ship those higher boxes in any large quantity until a time when the difficulty makes them irrelevant.  If they were selling the 5GH for $2000 and 50 GH for $15000 then i would at least give them the benefit of the doubt they are legit and focused on hardware sells.  The price they are asking is just a clever way to fund their own hardware.

We have so many smart people here, cant believe most dont realize this. I guess btc does make you go blind...
1351  Economy / Goods / Highend Limited Edition Starwars Darth Vader and Yoda Statue for sale on: May 26, 2013, 05:13:50 PM
Those are limited edition polystone statues made by master artists in france, they have been long soldout.  Some of the best sculpted and painted statues of vader and yoda. Both comes with certificate of authenticity and original box and packaging so they can be shipped safely. Both are in mint condition carefully displayed. NOT TOYS very heavy pieces.

I am looking to sell the vader for 4 btc and yoda for 2 btc, both include free shipping within usa, for international shipping add 1btc (heavy!)

Items will be shipped within 1 business day after payment.

1 @ 23

can everyone just get their bids in instead of dragging this out, 24 hour per bid is pretty crazy.

1357  Economy / Securities / Re: ASICMiner Shares and Dividends on: May 22, 2013, 07:56:47 PM
But this is just some guy who promises to pay you. It's unregulated and you have no idea how much he's actually paying out of the profit isn't it? Also if he just disappears tomorrow..

I don't see how this can be viewed as any kind of long term investment with a 5 yr time horizon other than a short term cash grab before it disappears. I mean the counterparty risk is so significant it can't even be quantified

1358  Economy / Securities / Re: ASICMiner Shares and Dividends on: May 22, 2013, 05:24:34 PM
AFAIK there is no posting of what dividends are going to be... we only know when they arrive.

Dividends thus far:

Div Pay Dates     Div/Share
02/29 (IPO)         0.023545
03/06 (IPO)         0.019163
03/13 (IPO)         0.023786
03/20 (IPO)         0.025998
03/24 (IPO)         0.007508
03/27                 0.003775
04/03                 0.002556
04/10                 0.006956
And Today:
04/17                 0.00696732

Hope this helps. 03/27 and 04/03 were due to increased costs for something or other (can't remember anymore).

IPO dividends were higher, since there was something in it along the lines of "100% of profits goes to share holders excluding BitFoundation shares (230k shares)".

sorry i am confused can someone help.  At those dividend rates and 2btc per 1 share, we are looking at 2 /0.00696732 / 4  = ~72 month to make back the initial investment and this assuming the difficulty remains the same which we know is not true as those asic boxes start to go online.

So what am i missing here? why are so many people paying 2-3btc for 1 share of asic miner?
1359  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Diamonds 5970 from newegg, many problems (TIM pics) on: January 20, 2012, 09:12:10 PM
I had nothing but problems with a pair of 5970, it would randomly freeze my computer (dead keyboard, hard reboot) every 24 hours or less. I tried everything including running at stock speed(1.2gh) without success. Had a industrial blowfan at max setting blowing directly at the intake, temp never got higher than 80C.

So happy finally got rid of them, i have 2x6870 coming now, got them from amazon(for easy return) this time, If this also craps out i am done with bitcoin mining.

thanks guys, i ordered 2x 6870. Hope they dont freeze my pc every 24 hours like my old 5970 did.
