I would have liked to say that they wanted to focus on the Champions League more. But their results in the Champions League were also horrible. While they were the most powerful team of their group they just finished it in the last place. They got only 5 points in total. This is a complete failure for them so far.

Simeone has been managing them for 11 years. He must be knowing every positive and negative sides of this team. Maybe it isn't related to the players. It might be just due to Simeone's tactics' weakening in time. Maybe they need a new manager as of now.

It is really difficult to overlook Villarreal's change in one season. We are talking about a team that reached the semi-finals in the Champions League in the end. Bayern Munich is unanimously dominant power of Bundesliga with in last few years there was some competition from Borussia Dortmund but in this season after poor start they are again at the top of league table, but Dortmund is badly struggling due to bad decisions and injuries issue hopefully they will try to fight back after having suitable replacements in January window but in this season we have positive change with few teams are doing good job and having fight for the top ranks like Freiburg, Leipzig and Frankfurt which mean things are improving which is good change.

I can say that the initial plan of Newcastle United is to end the league above 10 in the table or in the best scenario to be able to go to the Europa League but as the fact and matter is going it seems that Newcastle United is more lucky to have entered the top four in the first phase of the English Premier League. this time around they will have to do everything within their power to remain at the top four and when they are able to go to Champions League next season they will be able to sign any player in the world. What players want is money and to be able to play in Europe competitions.
