1341  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: HALVING IS GOING TO CAUSE A GENERAL EFFECT ON ALL IN THE ECOSYSTEM. on: September 06, 2023, 09:16:04 PM
From historic data, Halving has always lead to new ATH and this somehow counterbalance the reduced block reward. I believe miners already factor this in in their business that is why we still have investments in the mining business.

The people who will feel much of the effect of halving are those already buying now that the price is still low because if everything happens as usual in every halving year, then we night see very huge high prices.

Graphic analysis alone is not enough, big investors must look around the world's news. As is now happening, several Chinese banks have gone bankrupt.
Actually the graphs is a pictorial representation of human emotions, news, political development and what you mentioned as the driving force of the market.

If you know how to read the graphic analysis (technical analysis) you could somehow predict market major moves, although not with 100% accuracy as nothing is sure. While technical analysis has it's advantages, it is not immune to weaknesses but then, it can give us a good idea of where the market could possibly be heading to over a time period.
1344  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why is KYC mandatory in CEX? on: September 05, 2023, 08:43:10 PM
Centralized exchanges are registered in jurisdictions as a business entity. Part of this registration requires they ensure their customers are legally allowed to do business in those jurisdiction and also to comply with laws such as anti money laundry laws. There is also the need to ensure that such exchanges are not used for other negative financial purposes such as drug trafficking, terrorism financing and others. So KYC for CEX is mostly the requirement of the government where they are registered in.
1345  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: do anyone have done this? with gambling platforms on: September 05, 2023, 06:19:58 PM
^^
Guys, you need to understand that casinos will not ask you to pass kyc only when you try to withdraw a huge amount. Many of them randomly pick some gamblers on a regular basis and ask them to submit their documents (Random cross checking), just like that without any reason.
So, if you think you are safe just because you withdraw small amounts, think again.
Besides, what are you going to do if you get lucky and hit the jackpot? You will tell them: thank you, I don't want it!
A number of persons have actually complained about this and it is rather unfortunate. While this may appear entirely bad on the side of the casinos, it is possible those actions were necessitated by government regulations of which the casinos are really helpless( just my views). Whichever case, the casinos can do better by making these conditions known from the very beginning instead of waiting till there is a huge withdrawal request by a user.

1348  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Crypto or Real estate on: September 05, 2023, 03:58:06 PM
Well I do not not see anything wrong with real estate as it has proven to be a good investment opportunity. However, making this comparison in a Bitcoin forum actually seem out of place and shows lack of faith on your side.

Nevertheless, if I am to give my opinion, I feel more comfortable with Bitcoin given the ease, comfort, little startup capital and huge profit potential it holds. In addition, the risk in Bitcoin is relatively low compared to real estate as one is completely in control of his investment without any interference.

1350  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Why most of the post aren't bitcoin related topics on: September 05, 2023, 11:38:03 AM
It is not possible that all the posts here will be Bitcoin related. To me I feel we can share any information here and not necessarily about Bitcoin. On the other hand, if others are not sharing Bitcoin related posts, do well to share so that you lead the way and we will follow.

A lot of good posts relating to our country and the people have been shared here including post about converting generator to gas. This is important as many people have already implemented the ideas shared here. So I don't think there is anything wrong with how posts are shared in this board.
1351  Economy / Speculation / Re: Buy the DIP, and HODL! on: September 05, 2023, 08:19:46 AM
Your cautious yet optimistic stance regarding possibility of significant increase in Bitcoin price is quite understandable. As an informed and experienced Bitcoin investor you are well aware of  that predicting future price of Bitcoin is very challenging task. Various factors, such as regulatory developments, general state of global economy and prevailing monetary policies, can impact all risky assets including Bitcoin.
If you treat Bitcoin like a treasure worth holding, your mindset will significantly change. First, you will be more focused on accumulating more of it rather than bothering about the price. Indeed, it is very emotionally draining to be worried about Bitcoin price. From personal experience, one tend to look more on the price of Bitcoin when one is so curious about quick profits and not long term HODL. On the other hand, having a futuristic mindset with Bitcoin will eliminate this burden of looking at price always because the focus will be on how to accumulate certain quantity of Bitcoin by a certain year. This is where DCA comes in and am happy a lot of people are already applying same thereby eliminating some of the psychological burden that comes with buying Bitcoin without a well-thought out plan.

Nevertheless, we can reasonably anticipate that there are favourable odds for significant price appreciation in 2024, which marks the year of Bitcoin's halving event.
The best we can do at best is to expect as it is up to the market to decide. As a believer in Bitcoin, one must have some level of faith that someday, the price will go up even though we done know when and how. Another thing is also to look at history data and correlate same with previous events and the outcome in the price. This is where the halving comes in. So, I agree with you that the halving next year necessitate optimistic anticipation of rise in price.
1352  Economy / Speculation / Re: Volatility and its effect on: September 04, 2023, 08:02:05 PM
I believe that market volatility is intentionally created by someone, not volatility according to market demand.  in addition to macro news that affects market sentiment, sometimes we can also see fluctuations that occur unexpectedly and there is no explanation for it.  market makers know we like volatility, and perhaps that's their way of making us care more about the markets.  every time the market fluctuates, people are very eager to long/short and the result is known to everyone, many long/short orders are liquidated afterward.
While there is sense in what you are saying, there is something I want to draw your attention to. First thing you need to understand is that volatility is like a response of the market to speculations, news, human emotions, panics and other factors. If you have ever traded the currency market, you will notice  that there is always high volatility during periods of high impact news such as NFP or FOMC. I like the fact that you acknowledged the market makers as key players in controlling price movement... they indeed create these false narratives that lead people to panic and shocks and this is what reflect on the market as volatility.
1353  Economy / Speculation / Re: How passionate are you buying Bitcoin now? on: September 04, 2023, 04:38:30 PM
it's true that the current price isn't a bad one if someone has been waiting for an opportunity or a certain price point to start buying Bitcoin or other cryptocurrencies.
I have the same views because Bitcoin is heavily under-priced now. This is really the best time to buy because as we progress into 2024, no one really when the anticipated bull run will start. However I have the feeling that this year will set the stage for that.

A lot of people would miss such opportunities just because they think that the market might dip even lower, however, timing the market perfectly is a craft that no one can master, so it's better to take the best offers that you get.

Surely there will those that will miss buying Bitcoin now ... part of the reason being over-ambitiuosness of buying from the supposed dip. Know that the bottom cannot precisely be determined, the best approach should usually be buying at every correction like we have now.
1354  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / The danger of blaming everything on politics on: September 04, 2023, 04:18:55 PM
Hello my country people. I hope say we dey push forward even though our country no too dey give us joy? Well, make we no give up... las las we go dey ok.

I take eye observe say we dey feel too comfortable blaming everything for we country on politicians. Person go thief, them catch am, him go blame politician and government wey no provide job. Fine girl go leave to learn handwork go dey do olosho and at the end, she go blame politicians and government. Even some papa them wey born full house when them no get work still dey blame politicians and government. Before now me self follow for this habit but recently, something just touch my mind say e be like that pattern no make sense at all. E dey make people lazy and irresponsible!

Even though our politicians and government no too try, that one no mean say them go chop blame for every bad thing wey happen and even wrong decision and choices people make. Even inside this our country wey no keep face well, e get people wey still dey meet up for their dreams so make we dey try to adjust and push on.

Some of the way we fit dey push forward for our country now na :
1. Planning well with our resources and time
2. Finding something legit and giving it your very best
3. No shame to hustle even if it means starting small.

This one na my views, my people how una see am?
1355  Economy / Economics / Re: Food security in the world has been shaken by Russia's actions on: September 04, 2023, 10:44:21 AM
A lot of things have actually changed across the globe following the war in Ukraine with supply chain receiving the major hit. As expected, this have had serious negative impact on many economies. prices of food items have tripled in my country as Russia/Ukraine constitute part of the major producers of fertilizer and wheat. If this trend continues, we might see global emergency in food as many people are already struggling to feed.

I feel the Russian Ukraine war could have been avoided as it is a clear case of proxy war of West with the East. Same scenario is also brewing in West and Central Africa and I hope it does not escalate. As a matter of urgency, the whole world must come together this time to put and end to the war in Ukraine because it is affecting the entire world in no mean way, not forgetting the innocent lives being wasted daily in that avoidable war.

1357  Economy / Speculation / Re: Buy the DIP, and HODL! on: September 03, 2023, 10:14:27 AM
Actually in this case I don't suggest or consider that trading is also a mistake because those who do it have their own thoughts and their own strategies to collect bitcoins regardless of others doing DCA or trading I think it's their right but when talking about investment then one of the best strategies is DCA. and when we want to be a good investor for the long term trading is too difficult to do because as you said a profit for a few days/weeks or months can just become a loss in one day when trading is bad so traders do have bitcoins but they are not investors for me because they have their own role which is as traders.
While I understand and respect your point, I think it is right for me to make some clarifications.  Trading is not bad and can be profitable for some that have mastered the skill.  But considering the topic of this thread which is to buy and hold, it becomes a little out of place to discuss short time trading here. Most traders are just after short term profits and they do not really hold Bitcoin.

Unlike the DCA which is indeed one of the very good bitcoin buying strategies for today because this is a way of collecting bitcoins without having to worry about the bitcoins that we collect experiencing losses if we don't sell that
I am happy you agreed with me that DCA that dominate the discussion here is mostly and better applied in accumulation and holding for long.
1358  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Bull Run within Q4 of 2024? on: September 03, 2023, 09:15:39 AM
A lot of people might be following the circle of four years that makes 2025 the year for the next bull run. But I feel the bull run might be starting December 2023 all through 2024. There are a lot of indications pointing in that direction.

If you notice, recently some whales are already accumulating billions of dollars worth of Bitcoin. This is an indication of what is coming and how massive it will be. I will encourage everyone yo position for the bull run by buying at discount before the move start.
1359  Economy / Speculation / Re: Is there still hope for the price of BTC to hit back $69k this year? on: September 03, 2023, 04:28:39 AM
It is good to have huge expectations about price but we should be realistic in doing that. Checking the historical data of Bitcoin, you will notice that for any new ATH, there must be something to propel it, one of those being halving. The halving is billed for next year so, since no major event this year, I wouldn't expect to see such huge prices yet.

However, anything is possible considering the developments in the world. Some countries might just resort to using Bitcoin to avoid the political uncertainty in the world and this is enough to propel price upward.
1360  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin is not going to $12k. on: September 02, 2023, 04:54:53 PM
The reasons given in this post are actually valid and plausible. While we don't want Bitcoin to go to $12k, it is better to keep an open mind policy when it comes to a volatile market like Bitcoin. Nevertheless,  I am never thinking in the direction of any major dump that will take price that low.

Personally, I have learnt to apply DCA in managing my portfolio as I am strongly bullish considering the lineup of events from next year onward.
