1341  Economy / Speculation / Re: 1000+ is anytime now on: November 22, 2016, 06:00:43 PM
You forgot one very important part of your prediction: why?

Did you see something on TV that made you think of this? Or just thought there weren't enough threads made referencing this arbitrary even number of $1000USD?

Yes. $1000 is going to happen. But what happened in the past was a huge surge and right now we're not seeing that. I'm not saying it can't happen, just why do you think it will? I would like to see consistent steady growth IMO rather than a huge surge, crash, then the people that came on board during the surge / crash hate bitcoins now because they lost so much money. You have to remember that people are stupid so if they see the price surging they'll hang on until it crashes back down to a normal value, be pissed about it and never use bitcoins again. A normal rate of adoption would be much much better.

Well it's very easy. Bitcoin is about to get segwit, and with segwit pandora's box is opened, sidechains, confidential transactions, lighting network... everything is possible.

Then add in the fact that countries like China keep making their citizens move their wealth away, and we will see a big surge in price.

Trump is yet to enter office, and I think this stupid hype on markets and dollar will end soon too.

1342  Economy / Speculation / 1000+ is anytime now on: November 22, 2016, 05:46:33 PM
We are going to see a big surge in price and it will happen in a course of days, remember that last time we went from 600 to 1000 it took less than 15 days, so once it starts pumping and we get in the 800 territory, panic buy will kick in, 800 and 900 will go out quick and we will be sitting at 1000+, some people will panic sell at 1000+, it will correct a little, less than people think, then the people that missed the boat will jump in as soon as it goes below 1000, pushing the price to the next ATH.
1343  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Everyone looses in the long run on: November 20, 2016, 07:47:25 PM
If you are smart you will know htat the only way to beat the odds is to stop gambling, if you don't want to lose money then stop gambling and get some boring and safe wage job, but some people don't want to be working until they are 67 years old so they like to gamble a bit, sometimes it goes well and you may retire a couple of years before, of course you can fuck it up and end up badly but that's the game.
1344  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UFC 206: Cormier vs Johnson 2 Prediction and Info Thread on: November 20, 2016, 07:16:13 PM
I wonder if Connor could go as high as welterwight and fight for all possible tittles. If someone can do it then that's McGregor. Sure, he will need to be packing some extra fat but he can reach those 170 lbs and fight Tyron at his weight class. Maybe even push for middleweight. There have been 5'9'' guys fighting in those divisions before. If the juice is needed then he should do some steroids and try not to get caught. Im sure everyone is on steroids already anyway.
1345  Economy / Speculation / Re: It took only 11 days to go from 639 to 1148 last time on: November 20, 2016, 06:44:46 PM
When we reach 1000+ in the near future, this time it will be very different. Now bitcoin is way more mature, it is way more solid, the software is better, there are tons of exchange alternatives and wallets, it's just ready for the 1000+ territory. The ones that aren't holding BTC will cry so much pretty soon. It will feel great going back home (1000+ where Bitcoin deserves to be right now)
1346  Economy / Economics / Re: millionaires of the world, be reminded... on: November 20, 2016, 06:31:16 PM
dear milionaires,

the signs of economic crisis are on the wall. if you guys decide that it could be appropriate to own at least ONE btc, be reminded that this will be very difficult to achieve.

there are 16 million of you on our planet. but there will only be 21 million btc ever. 16 million btc are already mined. no one knows how many are lost, no one knows how many are held by hardcore hodlers (who will never sell), no one knows if the first million btc (satoshis stash?) will ever move.

edit: typo

It's never enough to remind people the importance of owning at least 1 full BTC. People can't perceive this because the price is still more or less affordable, but soon they will realize how much of a mistake it was to not buy BTC monthly, as much as possible, trying to buy and stock on them. 3 figure per Bitcoin will be soon a thing of the past and there will be a lot of depressed people when they realize their mistake. Those are the idiots that are constantly waiting for "the perfect price" instead of buying at whatever price, because all prices are good in the long term.
1347  Other / Archival / Re: Do you agree with idea "Bitcoin bank" ? on: November 20, 2016, 06:25:29 PM
Doesnt matter if you agree. They are coming. It will be a process. No fractional reserves..

Well fractional reserve banking within bitcoin is impossible thanks to the limited amount of supply, in theory... because I remember accusations to certain exchanges that where supposedly running fractional reserve type of activities. I don't know how is this possible, but actually they where doing it. I think it's as simple as using the bitcoins that are deposited there to do investments in your back... that is why I can't never trust anything that isn't myself holding the private keys.
1348  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin endgame (v1.0 ?) on: November 20, 2016, 06:10:53 PM
It is impossible for Bitcoin to have all the rules set in stone for life. Bitcoin is designed to be as versatile as possible and adjustments can be made in the future to meet the needs, eg. increasing the block size. People can still modify the software and run another version of Bitcoin with other set of rules. Those who support it will just switch to it.

Well, satoshi himself said that the core protocol rules were set in version 0.1 and it would be a disaster to try to change them, he didn't believe in an alternative bitcoin to these rules. For example, changing 21 million total coins would be a disaster, I don't think no one will attempt that because it would be an insta kill for bitcoin. So some rules must be set in stone, the fact theoretically you could change them doesn't matter to advance version number.
1349  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin endgame (v1.0 ?) on: November 20, 2016, 06:00:33 PM
I have wondered myself about this a lot of times. Some people claimed that we will never see 1.0 during our lifetime... this is pretty insane to think. I don't know any other software that has took an entire lifetime of development and it still being below version 1.0. Maybe Bitcoin can be the software that took the longest to develop (as in to reach 1.0).

I think we will reach 1.0 until we find a solution for the mining centralization.
1350  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: A newbie starting out with Altcoin(s) on: November 15, 2016, 08:11:09 PM
I would look at the big marketcaps in cryptocoin marketcap, and then see the correlation between marketcap and coin price. If the correlation is similar and it's uptrending then look at the project. You will see that most projects are useless scams, and the best you can do with alts is profit from the right pum and dump to make more BTC from them, which is a nice way to make BTC.
1351  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: What minor exchange would you trust? on: November 15, 2016, 07:37:02 PM
What minor exchange would you suggest to try out? And why?
We need to acquire some BTC funds and we can sell some altcoins collected in last weeks.

In my opinion it's risky to trade on small exchange, just look what happen to altex.ws many coin holders lose there coins when the dev shutdown the site, because of the absence of volume,it's much more better to trade on a more stable exchange like Yobit, ccex and novaexchange among others..

Sometimes you can get coins that later on pump on bigger exchanges by buying on those smaller exchanges that list them before the big players like poloniex do. Of course you risk lossing all of your money, either by lossing them in an exchange hack, or by losing them because you are buying an altcoin that never gets a pump.
1352  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Thoughts on Zcash? on: November 15, 2016, 07:15:08 PM
You guys need to read Peter Todds trust setup synopsis.

I did read that, it was pretty cool with all the pcutures of the burned ram and stuff, but to be honest no matter how many of those cerenomies are performed, I would never trust a coin that needs for the developers to do all that fancy stuff when there are other coins that don't need you to trust on that. I will wait to see how ZCash classic does and maye I buy some just in case it pumps heavy on Poloniex, but its already 0.005 and right now ZEC is 0.15 or something.
1353  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What is actually use of SegWit? on: November 15, 2016, 05:21:03 PM
It's basically a fix for the transaction malleability problem.

This is the basic explanation but it doesn't include all the cool things that come with it. After fixing transaction malleability problem, then we can have all the stuff we ever dreamed with, like faster transactions, side chains, schnorr signatures, confidential transactions, and a lot of other cool stuff that will help push bitcoin to the next level.
1354  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Explain this address on: November 15, 2016, 04:02:31 PM
A lot of people use small amounts of bitcoin to send to famous addresses to troll with signed messages, or as a tribute. In the mtgox address there is a lot of trolling and calling out Karpeles, and for example in satoshi's original address a lot of people send messages like "thank you satoshi" or whatever.
1355  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling. Is It Wrong? on: November 15, 2016, 03:30:25 PM
The best way to stop is to lose a big a mount. Once you are exposed to big losses, you will think again before gambling stupid amounts of money, you will start gambling less and less, less often and for less money, to the point that you end up not gambling at all because you see how stupid it is to keep losing money. After a time, you will come back but you will have control over it, and will treat it as fun and nothing else.
1356  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UFC 206: Cormier vs Johnson 2 Prediction and Info Thread on: November 15, 2016, 01:09:40 PM
I think Ronda Rousey return will make great numbers, maybe even bigger than McGregor. There is an huge hype surrounding her comeback, because we know that if she loses again her career is over since she goes mentally insane when she losses.

Also McGregor has been calling out Tyron Woodley which is bigger than him, they are the same height but Tyron is built more like a Mike Tyson type of person. I wonder if they may end up fighting. That would be pretty epic to see.

1357  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UFC 206: Cormier vs Johnson 2 Prediction and Info Thread on: November 14, 2016, 07:57:22 PM
McGregor rocked UFC 205 with an excellent performance, now we will see if UFC 206 lives up to the hype. I think Cormier is more skilled than Johnson, he already won once, but Johnson now is a lot more skilled as well, and he has the height, and reach advantage. Very, very thought call to know who will win.. I hope that Cormier wins. He is a good guy, dedicated, talented, and he fights with the big disadvantage of being shorter and having shorter reach, and that sucks, so I hope he can overcome it and win.
1358  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UFC 205: Alvarez vs McGregor Prediction and Info Thread on: November 14, 2016, 07:27:11 PM
Honestly McGregor had the reach advantage.... he had same height as Alvarez, with a big ass advantage in reach! how is this possible? is it only because his arms are longer?

Reach advantage is a major key in fights... this fight was a safe bet for McGregor, but so was the Hillary win bet, and she lost.. so you ever know.. beware when going all in on something that seems impossible to be lost, that small % of lossing may cost your entire net worth.
1359  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: ZCash Classic, what a stupid name on: November 14, 2016, 06:59:28 PM
Well, same reason Bitcoin Classic is called Bitcoin Classic... the guys doing it think that their way is the "classic way". It's pretty ridiculous, but it sells well.

How do they know they classic way of Zcash was to not do the 20% thing for the devs? If it was there listed from the start, I don't see a point. If Zcash developers betrayed the community with that 20% thing, then maybe the classic part has an actual reason to be called that way.
1360  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: DECENTRALIZED crypto currency (including Bitcoin) is a delusion (any solutions?) on: November 14, 2016, 06:25:08 PM
Well unfortunately im not smart enough to understand the technical intricacies of all of this stuff, at the end of the day im just an investor seeking for something profitable in the crypto world that actually doesn't end up stagnating in price just like 99.9999% of altcoins out there after the ICO's.

So I will keep an open mind about this and see if you really deliver something anywhere near a "bitcoin killer". I am skeptical and think bitcoin 80% market dominance is not going anywhere, but we'll see.
