13401  Other / Off-topic / Re: If You Won A Million Dollars.. How Much Bitcoin Would You Buy? on: January 14, 2016, 06:07:42 AM
How would one even buy that much btc if one wanted to.  Coinbase/Circle only allows up to 3k i believe and it takes a few days.

You could buy through Localbitcoin, if you can get hold of people willing to sell that many or you could approach people on this forum or you could attend Bitcoin meetups and get to know some people and find a trustworthy source. I would suggest buying in smaller quantities over a long period, and not everything in one transaction.

This will lower the risk of you losing all that money to a scammer and a thief. If you buy from several sources you will stay below the radar.  Roll Eyes A million bucks will surely draw in the scammers.
13402  Other / Off-topic / Re: Bitcoin and Porn on: January 14, 2016, 05:46:53 AM
in addition to an easy way of life, the use of BTC as a transaction tool also has been done illegally, such as the vendor's site porn

That is correct. Thanks to bitcoin many can use porn without their spouse even knowing it. No trace, unlike credit cards or other online currencies where they put all to list on what you have done.

These sites usually hide the origin of these services on the invoicing on your credit card statement. I think the best advantage would be that they would not be able to re-invoice you for services, after you have stopped using it. There are some bad actors out there, that will keep on invoicing you, even after you stopped using them.

Just remember most of the information of which sites you visited is not on the credit card statement, but on your computers hard drive or your ISP logs.  Wink
13403  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is Bitcoin 'real money' to you? on: January 14, 2016, 05:36:47 AM
In a sense it's more real than fiat money for me. Before I started using Bitcoin, I seldom monitored the exchange rate of my currency against other currency. I would watch the local news and then at the end of the news, they showed the economic indicators and I just glanced at it.

Since I started using Bitcoin, I check the currency conversion daily on exchanges and it is like a part of my life now. Just like a extra limb. Bitcoin is also like a hobby and entertainment for me, and I never done that with fiat money.

To me Bitcoin is more real than fiat money.
13404  Other / Off-topic / Re: Do you still believe in bitcoin on: January 14, 2016, 05:29:13 AM
It has been a wild ride over the years, if you were around since before the MtGox episodes. Some people got left behind there and then we had Silkroad and what came with that. We went through all the Cloud mining scams and Ponzi's and HYIP and people who got hacked and lost huge amounts of coins.

The road to success is never paved. We will hang on and receive the rewards when it's time.
13405  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Halving Party 2016 on: January 13, 2016, 07:46:36 AM
Before the Halving, I will buy myself a sandwich and a Draft beer and wait for the price to skyrocket. After the Halving, I will celebrate the <Moon> price with a bottle of Chateau Lafite from 1787 and Italian White Alba truffle with some Almas caviar.

I will probably not survive the Chateau, because it's undrinkable but the truffle and caviar will be a good last meal. In reality I am not expecting fireworks and I will probably be in front of the computer watching the price fluctuate and the press blowing everything out of proportion.

I will be a party for one if nothing change and a party for many, if it skyrockets.
13406  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How safe are these "so called" Bitcoin Banks? on: January 13, 2016, 06:48:45 AM
That's a good question. Judging by history and by history repeating itself over and over, there is no way I can Trust an exchange or any bitcoin financial service. I simply have to learn to live with that and be prepared for their wrong doings

There are few bitcoin websites which are genuine and have been operating for a long time but it's true as well that they cannot be trusted the same as we trust banks. However, there is no harm in trusting an online bank which does have a license to operate like we trust PayPal and other online wallets. That's my opinion.

Yes, we have come a long way since MtGox and most financial institutions now have to adhere to strict operating regulations to function and to protect consumers. You have to make sure that these sites are properly regulated and audited, before you deposit any coins.

The same research you do on any other financial institutions apply to Bitcoin banks and investment websites. Things are only more complex with Bitcoin businesses, because chargeback are not possible with Bitcoin. You have to rely on the honesty of the recipient to get any refunds.
13407  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Gavineries on: January 13, 2016, 06:32:49 AM
Bitcoin Classic now thats a really funny name,

Multibit used multibit classic for its first version, after which it released multibit hd. I always think of a classic version of any software as the oldest version that it began with. I probably picked it up from the term classic cars which people use to describe old cars. It doesn't seem right using classic to describe a new version/fork of a wallet.

They can call it what they like, we can just adapt and call Bitcoin Core something else like Bitcoin Original. The Classic label is actually something negative for them, because it is usually associated with something old and outdated. Some vintage model, replaced with something new and innovative.

Who would have thought you could paint yourself into a corner with a bad choice in a name for your technology. ^smile^
13408  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Some good concerns against bitcoin on: January 13, 2016, 06:23:21 AM
Some very valid points OP. I would like to see what happens if 7 happens and if we could adapt or change to neutralize that threat. Will people reach a consensus quicker if they were forced into a corner? Who will know. While Bitcoin is the strongest Crypto currency, we can fight over petty nonsense, but things might just change when a better protocol threatens it's survival.  Angry
13409  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: idea of creating a bitcoin carnival. on: January 13, 2016, 05:59:17 AM
Admission fee's are usually implemented to control the type of people you want to attract. The higher admission fee, exclude some of the lower income groups and you would get people with a higher income bracket. The goal is to make money and if you attract tons of feet with empty pockets, you will make less money.

You should consider what group of people you want to target and base your decision on that. I do not like exclusion based on income, but rather exposure to everyone for the purpose of adoption to Bitcoin.
13410  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Gavineries on: January 13, 2016, 05:43:03 AM
Looks like his goal is to divide and conquer or some strategy like that. You suggest many forks and break the community into smaller pieces, in the hope that your fork will have a bigger chance to form the longest chain. This is a old political strategy used by governments to split people into groups and to target smaller chucks of voters.

Once again a percentage of Core or XT supporters will fork off to the new Gavin proposal and the community will be divided even more than it was before.
13411  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 3 years i accumulated 10 btc, but now, i not have idea...suggestion? on: January 13, 2016, 05:31:41 AM
You have set 10 bitcoins as your goal for a reason? Right or wrong? Some people seem to think the Halving is going to be the savior everyone has been waiting for. I doubt that the Halving will double the value of all coins and if it does, the dumping will overflow the market and it will come down very quickly.

Just hold on to the 10 bitcoins and look for the best opportunity to use it. Shop around for the best prices on items and buy them at a discount with Bitcoin and sell them for a profit. Money makes money ^smile^
13412  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How to earn bitcoin for underage on: January 12, 2016, 01:12:01 PM
Their are signature campaign for newbies too, I have seen them and they pay per week

There are a few, but the income is very low and you might be better off just selling a service or doing some part time job and then using that income to buy bitcoins. I know you mentioned that there is a lack of services in your area where you can buy bitcoins, but Localbitcoin should still be available.

Just get your parents involved in the buying, if you follow the Localbitcoin route, there are some scary individuals out there, who will not hesitate to take your money.

Age should not be a issue, there are many underage Bitcoiners on here doing a fine job at acquiring bitcoins.
13413  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2016-01-11] Gaming Authorities Will Probably Recognize Bitcoin in 2016 on: January 12, 2016, 12:56:44 PM
I am glad to see the gaming authorities will allow fiat casinos to enter the Bitcoin gaming market. We might just see some competition and more regulation in this field. The current Bitcoin gaming scene reminds me of the Wild West days, where anything goes.

You only need to display the phase <Provably Fair> on your site and people will believe you.  Roll Eyes It should rather be, <Probably Fair>

Not that I am asking for more regulation, but rather some consumer protection against unethical gaming operations.
13414  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2016-01-12]CCN-Netflix CFO: 'Sure Would Be Nice to Have Bitcoin' Payments on: January 12, 2016, 12:45:49 PM
Why do they need a subscription service, if Bitcoin enables micro payments and affordable pay-per-view options? I would much rather pay a small fee per movie than having to pay a subscription monthly. The subscription is better for them, because they bargain on a predetermined budget.

This is one of the reasons why people pirate commercial content, they cannot afford the monthly subscriptions.
13415  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The Banks are history!!!!!!!!! their is no two ways about it!!!!!!!! on: January 12, 2016, 12:35:21 PM
I like the comparison tho, and it makes sense in a strange way. <Crack induced or not> Our local Post Office is full of old people sending packages and the only mail I receive these days are either bills or advertisements. In due time, we might see empty buildings were banks used to be.

Times and needs are changing and the banks has to adopt or die.
13416  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Satoshi Nakamoto found and is homeless? on: January 12, 2016, 12:28:53 PM
Small things amuse small minds, or so they say. The trend these days are to pick a catchy title and to add some garbage, just as long as it draw in the "clicks" Do not even waste your time on this, because it's complete garbage. This type of content is a total waste of electricity. Let's call it <Digital Waste>

Satoshi is dead, deal with it.  Roll Eyes
13417  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Analysis and list of top big blocks shills (XT #REKT ignorers) on: January 12, 2016, 12:21:27 PM
Whoever thought that the idea to implement a competing BIP with dire consequences to the privacy of the Bitcoin users, must be stir crazy. I would rather kick the can down the road and not bend the knee to make sacrifices to my privacy. We need a scalable alternative without these funny add-on's.

The two parties should come together and see where they could compromise on both sides and implement that solution and
consensus will be reached.
13418  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How can I purchase powerball lottery with bitcoin? on: January 12, 2016, 05:36:10 AM
Is there any reason, why you would only want to participate in the Powerball lottery? I know it has a massive jackpot, but you could settle for one of the smaller lottery on one of the Bitcoin gambling sites. Just check in the gambling section.

There is even some kind of lottery on some of the faucet sites, for example freebitco.in where you could win up to 3 BTC weekly. The odds of winning one of these are more in your favor than winning the Powerball.
13419  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Signature campaign is good? on: January 12, 2016, 05:30:53 AM
First off, this type of questions should be asked in this section https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=39.0 and you have to work on your English language skills, before you start posting. The people on the forum might get frustrated with your posts and they might report you to moderators, if you post non-constructive posts.

A good start would be to see if you can find a signature campaign that allows for you to post in one of the sub-forums, where your native language are used, and to post there.  Huh
13420  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2016-01-10] Bitcoin.org Violates its Mission Statement to Censor Coinbase on: January 11, 2016, 09:34:34 AM
Coinbase is not Bitcoin friendly in any way. They take away any kind of financial freedom with their AML & KYC adherence and now they support a BIP proposal that infringe on privacy on a protocol level. Why do you think banks are interested in investing with them?

In my opinion, Coinbase is a wolf in Sheep clothing. ^hmmm^
