Are you saying you mined on for a month somewhere without any payment?

I would make sure that is a valid pool your using, if it is then check payment address.

I don't understand why most of the newbies and those who are not into bitcoin think bitcoin is some kind of a hoax or a hack to get "real money" fast?

For one thing, to a lot of people, that's what it looks like. A repeated pump and dump. I'm not saying that's what bitcoin is, but we are talking about perceptions. It looks like a thinly traded penny stock that got hyped and sort of forgotten about.

It takes time to shake out people like that. Smiley

Part of it is press a lot of time if bitcoin is in news it's not good sadly.   There are more and more sites taking bitcoin.  If some big countries noticed it as currency we would get a bump.  Or huge payment services such as paypal again bump.

How to get benefit of btc price drop and make free btc quickly? I mean that a lot of free btc from faucets and many other ways etc etc.

"free" is not going to happen faucets are far to small.

You can BUY coins and hold.  But it is not free.

I think you will have better luck in off topic, or services if your paying.
13466  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: What are you mining? on: September 21, 2014, 05:15:53 PM
Bitcoin mining is no longer profitable compared to hardware prices and difficulty increases

How do miners make a profit then?

It varies for everyone.  I can no longer GPU mine at profit.  Using BTC and Scrypt asics im able to mine with chap electricity and lots of space.  The current btc price is hurting but i'm hoping temporary.

Better hope it was worth it buddy

I'm not mining at a loss even at current price.... so worth it yes.  Hopefully more worth it when it goes back up hopefully.

Had power supplies i ROIed with during GPU days i can get a S3 for not bad and use old PSU and im up and running for little cost.  Just wish i had more old PSU's as that would cut into ROI buying decent ones.  I got lucky with around 8500 + watts of power supplies from when GPU was profitable.

http://titanminer.com/?product_cat=miner-parts

One thing you might keep in mind is you can get raspberry pi cheaper on amazon and put SD card in with software if you just need it.

13469  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Any cpu only coins worth mining? on: September 21, 2014, 11:27:52 AM
It is not worth mining for us. Why are there so many CPU coins out there. The electricity cost for those miners must be very cheap.

Some mine no matter what.  With CPU mining it will take a LOT of cores to add up to a decent earning.  And most likely it is at a loss for most people.   CPU is even harder to profit then GPU which many including myself have stopped.
13470  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What up with that? on: September 21, 2014, 11:21:51 AM
I think some just think because it's electronic it is free/easy to get.  You will see a few people a day beg for money.   Once its more accepted hopefully some of the misconceptions will go away.
13471  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Any Alt coins that are profitable to gpu mine? on: September 20, 2014, 10:55:20 PM
Might look into pulling plug.  I know i was running around 8500 watt + of GPUs and i just could not justify it with electricity cost, and heat exhust.

Asica are just so much more efficient sadly for most gpu days are over.  You might think about selling and getting a asic or selling and buying BTC and hold with it being such a low price.
13472  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bitcoin Core question on: September 20, 2014, 10:51:46 PM
It will take a decent amount of time even if you have a fast connection, there is a lot of data to download.

You can use a pool to mine to, or a wallet that does not need chain.
13473  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Advice Required on: September 20, 2014, 02:45:56 AM
Never invest more then you can lose.  Long term I see it going up, i believe in bitcoin.  But short term its been kinda rocky.  It's a good time to buy i think if holding long term.

13475  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: mining with laptop on: September 19, 2014, 09:13:38 PM
I played around mining litecoin on my laptop before, I left it on overnight and the laptop was boiling hot the next morning. I haven't tried it since. Leave the mining to the asics, gpu mining days are over.

Some will fight it but mining is very hard on laptops they were not designed to be pushed so long so hard.   And unlike desktop you cannot RMA a video card and have a extra whole machine is going to need to be sent in.  Not to mention 1 video card is not a lot of juice.  It might be ok to learn for a very small time, but doing it does risk your laptop.

Ahoy set the miners to full sail!
13477  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: can i run an asic on battery? on: September 19, 2014, 09:04:31 PM
no sir . there will be a array of batteries and several solar pannels . or i could simply go hydro and run everything on one battery.

although im a begginer at wiring and setting up the system. im very concerned about something catching fire , shorting wires , not providing clean power due to interference... id love to talk with you guys about that stuff maybe you could show me some links and your green setups. would be awesome.
thank you.

I love the idea i hope you can show pictures after.  Also after if you are able to show pricing and how long to pay off vs regular power.  I would not mind trying solar I just could not justify it currently with .10 KWH electricity.
13478  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: DUST building up inside miners! on: September 19, 2014, 09:01:53 PM
Thanks guys, that was really helpful info, I'll give those suggestions a shot Smiley
Thanks again! x

Your welcome!  Hope it works and gets cleaned up.   Canned air is great Smiley
13479  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: My Hub don't detect the miners antminer u2 on: September 19, 2014, 09:00:15 PM
check to see if they show up in device manager.
sound more like a power issue to me but more info will be useful

There is a decent chance of this look at model of hub and power.  Most hubs were not built with mining in mind.  There are some that work and have a good amount of power.

If you have right power then check hub with something else such as usb thumb drive.

If drive works look into drivers.

Hopefully between power and drivers you will fix it.
13480  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: mining with laptop on: September 19, 2014, 08:57:21 PM
Are you mining bitcoin with it?  If so asic's are so much faster you should try scrypt.  Sadly for most GPU days are over asic's are just a lot more efficient.
